Garage Band made soundtrack to Quicktime slide show

Hi....I've made a soundtrack in Garage Band of 2 tracks of prerecorded music and a third voice over track. It's only about 2 minutes in length. I would like it to accompany a slide show of images I'm making in Quicktime. Can such a music file be imported into Quicktime? Do I have to join the individual tracks together somehow in order to do that? A suggested workflow would be appreciated. Thanks!

This is where ilife 06 has been improved. GB will let you open your imovie "slide show" in GB and create your music and voice over and export as .mov. Also with the better integration between the iapps you could make the slide show in iphoto and just choose your GB file from the media browser. Same with imovie.
I know this can be done with 05 but apple has really done a beautiful job with 06. Now I'm not saying everyone should upgrade but if you do use other iapps it is well worth the price.

Making Quicktime slide shows (videos) with Windows

Hello. With the Mac platform, I am able to use my photo program, iPhoto, export photos from it and make a Quicktime slide show (video, with accompanying music from my music program, iTunes. Is this also possible with Windows, ie: where would the 'Export' command be and how would music be integrated into it? Any other helpful comments would be appreciated. Thank you.

You can open many different audio and image formats with the Windows version of QuickTime Pro. To assemble a slide show of still images you could open a folder of liked sized, sequentially named images and add that new file "scaled" to the audio track.
You could also open the audio track and "add scaled to selection" your individual image files. This method would allow you set the duration of each slide to different values but would limit your show to 98 images (99 track limit).
This method could also use different image dimensions, different "offsets", transparency "blends" and mask layers. Depending on your intended distribution format you could make HD sized QuickTime movies with multiple images displaying simultaneously (Brady Bunch style).

QuickTime Slide Shows in iPhoto

Is it possible to edit a QuickTime Slide Show (often called a QuickTime movie), i.e. is it possible to change the music in a completed QuickTime Slide Show. Let's say that I make a slide show in iPhoto and I add the music, and I file it in a folder. Can I take that slide show and later change the music in that slide show, ie exchange the selected song with another song. Or do I have to remake the slide show in order to add the other music?

Depending on the type of slide show you've made (iPhoto makes two styles) you can edit the final .mov file using QuickTime Pro.
One of the iPhoto types uses three nearly identical video tracks slightly offset in time and another track that provides the "fade" effect. The other type is a 30 fps (frames per second) video that contains transitions and effects and all is contained in one video track.
Lets assume that your music track is three minutes in either type. Adding a 4 minute new audio track will slow down the playback and alter the frame rate. Not a big deal for a simple fade slide show but it will reduce the frame rate when added scaled.
Open your new sound file using QT Pro, select all (Command-A) and copy (Command-C).
Switch to your slide show movie, select all and "Add to Selection & Scale" from the Edit menu.
Open the Movie Properties window. Highlight your original sound track and "Delete".
Use Save As, name the file and pick a location to save. This will leave your original file intact.
Same images and effects as the original with a new audio track.
Don't use music purchased from the iTunes Music Store. They are protected and can't be exported to QuickTime formats.

I was wondering if you guys could tell me what the basic differences are between Soundtrack, and Garage Band?
In Sound Track, can you drag those sample cinematic sound samples into it's timeline, and create loops like in Garage Band?

Quicktime slide shows for dvd and Quicktime movies

I am trying to make a slide show(s) out of several thousand
jpegs to dvd and also trying to make one quicktime movie from
short quicktime movie files.I have downloaded quicktime 7.6
pro and when I was looking at the pages on the download site
I get no pull down options like were shown ,when I click quicktime
the player comes up but thats it no options for slideshows no options for
making any type of movie ?????Am I being numb?and does anyone know
how to do either of these things in quicktime?My machine is only 933mgz
so no ilfe-imovie-idvd answers please they wont run on my machine,
besides quicktime claims to be able to do these things!

Quicktime slides show movies not working in iweb

made keynote (hyperlinks only) slideshows, then exported to quicktime. slideshows work on desk top but not online in iweb o8 ( movie pages). Largest show is 4.4mb. they sometimes work, but mostly run on arbitrary loop. if i cant figure this out I might have to leave iweb. have I missed somthing simple?

I solved the problem by simply removing Safari and using an other browser. I'll have to remove the sentence on my webpages that advises people to use Safari.

Exporting slide show from iPhoto to QT raises contrast and darkens images?

I have been using iPhoto to create slide shows (with transitions) which I then save as QuickTime (.mov) files. I add soundtracks to the QT.mov file in QuickTime Pro and burn the finished slide show to CD's for my friends and coworkers.
The original photographic image files come from several sources; mostly a digital camera, but often scanned color slides (from the dim, distant past). All of the images have been (painstakingly!) corrected in PhotoShop, and saved as finished size Jpeg files.
When I import the images into iPhoto, edit and arrange them in a folder and preview the show as a slideshow in iPhoto, the images still look perfect.
When I save the show by exporting it to QuickTime, all of the images get darkened and the image contrast increased.
This is making me nuts.
To quantify the unwanted "enhancement" that iPhoto seems to be applying to my images, I experimented in PhotoShop; I can make the original (correct) image match the "QT enhanced" image by decreasing the "Lightness" slider by -8 to -12, and increasing the "Contrast" slider by +11 (in whatever units PhotoShop sliders are calibrated).
The resulting change in the images is infuriating: the darkening increases the color saturation and blocks up the shadow details so that many images are unusable.. black skin tones, for example, become a dark red/brown color with an unnatural gradation from light to dark.
Further experimentation using IDVD and QuickTime slide shows (without transitions) made from sequencial files directly in QT seem to indicate that the problem is not in QuickTime itself, but rather in the transition from iPhoto to QuickTime when I export the finished folder as a slide show.
It seems like iPhoto is "enhancing" or "tweaking" the images as it exports them to QuickTime: It adds contrast and reduces brightness, both of which might serve to add "snappiness" to a lot of generic snapshots that people shoot, but my images have already been fixed (thank you) and really don't need anyone's generic "tweak"
Does anyone know what it's doing, and more importantly to me, how do I turn the damned thing off?

A third method (rarely used) is to Export to iDVD. This makes an absurdly high data rate MPEG-4 video. This is also found under the Share menu.
The MPEG-4 video codec also includes an "automatic" gamma correction feature which compensates for the gammas difference between Mac's and PC's.
Try one export to iDVD. Include your audio track prior but use a high quality (.aiff) sound file. No need to actually "burn" the DVD. You can even close iDVD after it opens. You'll find the new movie in your Users Movie folder.
Open it with QT Pro and export to a new .mov file. Adjust the data rate to something more reasonable and add some audio compression.
If the colors still look too dark you can use the built in Filters in the Export dialog. You can adjust B&C or HSL or even use ColorSync Profiles that can help correct the image quality (if needed).

3 minute slide show

Just made a 3 minute slide show using a song from iTunes. Exported it as a quicktime movie. Tried running it on another computer and the song would not play. The error message said my computer did not have permission to play the song! Apple you have got to be kidding me!! If anyone has a work around please post!

I believe you're able to authorize up to 5 Macs/computers to play those protected songs. How, I don't know as I don't have any iTMS purchased tracks but check in the iTunes forum. There's a way to authorize the other Mac or PC (probably has to have iTunes installed though) so it will play them.
It's not Apple's fault. They are just abiding to the anti piracy laws and contracts that they have had to enter into. Get mad at the Music industry.
P.S. making thread titles like that is not going to get you lots of enthusiastic help around here.

How can text slides in "Maps" themed slide show be removed or altered?

When selecting Maps as my theme, locations appear that are not in any of the places identified in my photos, and 2 or 3 "text " slides appear before some photos. Is there a source for determining how to work with various slideshow themes? How can I delete the text slides I do not want?

Is there any way to lock (or attach) an audio clip to a particular slide to keep it in sync when upstream changes are made to the Aperture slide show?
No, I do not know of a way to do that.
There is no "lock" option for the secondary audio clips. When I do a slideshow with an elaborate audio track I usually do not invest much work into the audio track, until the slides and videos are ready and there position in the time line will no longer change.
Then I export a preliminary version of the slideshow as video, import it to GarageBand and create the final version of the sound track in GarageBand. It is much easier to edit and to combine audio clips in GarageBand. When the sound track is ready, I export it to iTunes and from there I add it to the slideshow.

SlideShow in iDVD has a 99 photo limit - more than this and all sorts of error occures.
One can have more than one SlideShow on a DVD = X times 99 photos.
or assemble SlideShows in a movie editor (no limit at least not under 650 photos)
(only limit is Time in iDVD (movie time + MENU time --- 60 min or 120 min on SL-DVD and about twice on DL.-DVD )
I use
• iMovie up to HD6 - or -
• FinalCut any version
As they will give a better quality than iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 can do.

Why exporting slide show to QuickTime raises contrast and darkens images?

I've been creating slide shows in iPhoto, then exporting them to QuickTime to create QT.mov files which contain dissolve transitions and later add soundtracks using QTPro. Lately, when I've exported the images to QuickTime, the resulting images in the QT.mov file are invariably darker and more contrasty than the originals in iPhoto; in many cases unacceptably dark.
It appears that QuickTime modifies the images when it exports them.
I've experimented in PhotoShop, and discovered that to make the original Jpeg image match the modified QT version I have to increase the "Contrast" slider +11, and decrease the "Brightness" slider about -8 to -12 (in whatever units PhotoShop sliders are calibrated in). This is an enormous amount of change to the images! Since darkening the image increases the color saturation, every image has some color shift. Black skin tones shift to a heavy red/brown, and shadow details block up unacceptably.
It seems that QuickTime is "auto correcting" the images; automatically applying the sort of tweaking that makes a lot of snapshots look "snappier".
Of course, I've already spent hours correcting my images in PhotoShop, and they're just perfect (IMHO) when I feed them into iPhoto.
iPhoto itself doesn't change anything.. the images are unmodified during the importing, editing and preview of the slideshow; it's only when it's exported to QuickTime that the images are ruined.
I'm hoping that there's some knowledgable soul out there in CyberSpace who knows a way to turn this hidden "auto-correcting" feature off.

While creating a project in Garage Band my sample tracks were cut short then overwritten in soundtrack pro. Any ideas why? and how to get my tracks back?

I never opened soundtrack pro to edit the track just Garage band....the track just mysteriously saved as half the track.
I am running Lion and I upgraded my Garage band to '11 hoping it would resolve the issue...it didn't. Now I can't find that tracks at all.
The 2 songs having the issue are titled Exotic Yearning and Reunion.
I am in the process of reinstalling the audio content from my discs. I just don't want to run into this again.
Any thoughts and help would be greatly appreciated!

After spending some time reinstalling the soundtrack pro 3 content I opened the full track called Reunion.
It showed back up in Garage Band.*It was the full track and wasn't chopped off until I dragged it onto the project. Then it showed up chopped.
Then I closed Garaged band and opened soundtrack pro 3....The song was again chopped off at the 1:33min mark

Export to the desktop as a QuickTime movie and then right click on the QT movie file and burn to disk - teh person you give the gift to will have to have QT player on their computer to play the slideshow

In GarageBand 10.0.2 you can no longer add all kinds of effects freely; this GarageBand '11 feature has been discontinued. Pick one of the predefined patches that already has the effects you want.
However, you can add effects from the predefined audio units.
You'll see the predefined effects on the track, when you open the Smart Controls. To add audio units, click the button and enlarge the the smart controls pane by dragging the dividing line to the Track Area upwards.

I have store receipt future shop I have baught iPod touch Apple TV lg phone this iPad bellin case d link router multiple cords I tunes card the least future shop and apple should do is take this back and repair and sell to your discount places and I should for my support get a new no issue ipad unless you respond and it truly is A fix ... iPad mini I couldn't afford full size air it's only a week or 2 shy of 6 months and has 9.8gb left and only 5+ used I shouldn't be crashing and being disrupted trying to use a 350 dollar machine that's under 6 months I tryed the garage band fix from a site but it crashes in any app just hit or miss all day ...help me, I love Nd enjoy my od touch n it's only 4th gen, I use my Apple TV daily would love to afford a MacBook Pro and ipad air but I'm on disability and am only 30 addiction. And it's later health effects caught up and I use my apple devices to increase daily life, as it's dull n hardly fix my issue with a info n direction solution or get future shop to honour me a new ipad in exchange for this with receipt box m was never out of a shock proof case.
