Garage Band not opening!

Garage Band not opening due to conflicting third party plug-ins that migrated unintentionally from studio computer to Macbook (mainly T-Racks). Please advise on how to bypass or delete these rogue plug-ins. Many thanks!

It is hard to advise, how to uninstall. If the application, that installed the plug-ins has an uninstaller, try to run that uninstaller.  Or look at the manufacturer's web site on how to uninstall.
Audio plug-ins are usually installed in the system Library in the Folders
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins
or in your user library
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins
Open these folder, for example by using the Finder's GO menu:
     "Finder >  GO > Go  to folder"  and enter one of the paths above.
If you can identify the offending plug-ins, remove them and restart the Mac.

    Are you trying to transfer the GarageBand projects or the rendered audio files? What version of GarageBand do you have on your iPhone?
    I do not think you can share your GarageBand projects from your iPhone to GarageBand on your Mac, unless you have iCloud, afaik, only the audio files.
    How did you transfer the song?

  • Garage Band not sending Ringtones to iTunes

    Hello, here's the thing, i have updated to the latest version of Garage Band after hearing that i could make my own ringtones with it. I tried it and success! i have like 6 or 7 ringtones made directly from Garage Band. Now here's the problem, i purchased a new HD to put my music and movies on it, so i went to the finder and transfered the itunes music folder on my old HD and put it on my new HD, then i opened itunes and in the preferences tab i located it so that it would read it from its new location. iTunes updated the library without trouble, and now i have all my music and videos from my new HD. The thing is that now i go to Garage Band to make a new ringtone (the process like i did before the new HD) and it creates it, but now the newly created ringtone does not appear on the ringtones pane in itunes, and therefore it wont appear on my iphone under the ringtones tab. All of the other ringtones appear without trouble, just the new ones that don't appear. Am i doing something wrong? I've looked in spotlight and i cant find them anywhere. Please help guys!

    I'm no Mac expert here, but in Windows you could solve this problem by dragging and dropping the files from Explorer (Finder?) right into the iTunes library.

  • Why is my Garage Band not upgrading to the latest version yet?

    I watched the new update keynote today and I cannot wait to play on the new Garage Band... However, my garage band app is not updated yet.  What is the problem?  iMovie and iPhoto have updated, why not Garage Band?

    I'm in Garageband Groundhog Day download loop.
    First it didn't update like other iLife Apps.
    Then I found it in App Store Featured section, with Update tag attached.  I did.
    Then after download, I found I had two versions.  Opened newest and a further download was needed. (see screen grab)
    This further download takes ages and stops (without fail) around the 1 minute mark for no known reason (just disappears from screen).
    So then you open Garageband App again and it starts the second download again.
    Repeat loop... until Bill Murray helps you to become a better person?
    I've deleted both old and new and re-downloaded Garageband from App store.
    Nothing seems to help.  The download from within Garageband keeps mucking up along the way, and I get kicked back out of it.
    Any thoughts?

  • Garage Band Not Playing Back Audio

    Hi folks,
    I've had an issue with GarageBand pop up. I've checked around, but have found no solution to this.
    I've been working for the last two days on a song, opening and closing the app a fair bit depending on what's going on. About an hour ago, I decided to hit the option to play the track through the finder to save me opening if I want to listen over it.
    After doing that and opening the app again since, audio is only playing back from two of the tracks. The sound level bars are moving in the rest, but nothing else is happening. I've checked the sound levels and all, but nothing is changing.
    Has anyone else encountered this? Please tell me it's recoverable!

  • HT1338 Garage Band wont open

    I just purchased and installed GarageBand 11 for my iMac. After the install there was a box that told me to restart the computer. When I restarted it, Garageband won't open up at all now. What do I do?

    First off, if your computer came with GB, then it's on one of the discs that came with the computer
    However before you reinstall, The first two things I would suggest trying, in order:
    o Repair Permissions
    o Delete GB's prefs Files
    . (Search your Hard Drive for "GarageBand" and delete the files that end in ".plist" and ".cs")

  • Downloaded iLife and installed it to get iDVD. iMovie working, Garage Band not installed and my working iPhoto stopped working. Icon where iPhoto used to be now has a white circle with a line in the middle and error message saying  that it is damaged.

    Your MacBook Pro came with iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand, and what you did is to install iLife from a DVD having these applications from the Mac App Store.
    What I recommend you is to delete the iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand copy you have. To do it, open Finder, select Applications in the sidebar and delete them. Then, open the App Store, go to Purchases and download iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand. iDVD will be working after doing this

  • Garage Band Not Running, freezing, and driving me nuts in the process.

    I have never had an issue with Garageband until now. It is locking up almost immediately when I try to use chord trainer, and all lessons. I recently bought a new amp, Fender Mustang III, and installed the Fuse software. I havent been able to find any compatibilty issues mentioned anywhere, so Im hoping that someone can give me an idea what I need to do to solve this. I am using a M-Audio fast track interface, and have made sure that all of the software in play is updated to its current version. Its completely and perpetually freezing at this point. I cant get the app to run long enough to troubleshoot. I just get the spinning wheel..HELP PLEASE.

  • ALERT: Do not use Ae or Pr with Garage Band open!

    This was driving me insane all week.
    I was creating scores with Garage Band.
    And Pr and Ae were playing back audio & timelines AT THE WRONG SPEED.
    As I was on the phone with tech support, I realized this was caused by Garage Band being open!
    As soon as I quit it, CC went back to normal.
    Anyone who uses GB -- let's please file bug reports.

    I remember having similar issues setting up audio workstation DAW's for Slave/ReWire. Sounds like GarageBand took control of your Audio Card and set it to a different "Sample Rate" which would speed or slow the audio being used in other apps.
    Sounds like you'll have to use GB either before or after Ae/Pr to prevent this... or figure a way to set your sample rates to match.

  • Timing off with Garage Band file

    I created a song in Garage Band, and opened it in Logic.
    The Logic metronome is off sync with the Garage Band file, even though the tempo is correct.
    Does anyone know why?

    That's not the problem. The song is at 126 bpm throughout.
    I did a quick test with another Garage Band beat, and everything was OK. I have no idea why the metronome would be off with the other tune I created in Garage Band. Very annoying.

    I never opened soundtrack pro to edit the track just Garage band....the track just mysteriously saved as half the track.
    I am running Lion and I upgraded my Garage band to '11 hoping it would resolve the issue...it didn't. Now I can't find that tracks at all.
    The 2 songs having the issue are titled Exotic Yearning and Reunion.
    I am in the process of reinstalling the audio content from my discs. I just don't want to run into this again.

    After spending some time reinstalling the soundtrack pro 3 content I opened the full track called Reunion.
    It showed back up in Garage Band.*It was the full track and wasn't chopped off until I dragged it onto the project. Then it showed up chopped.
    Then I closed Garaged band and opened soundtrack pro 3....The song was again chopped off at the 1:33min mark
    Very Frusterated...:(

  • Garage Band : M Audio Duo USB Midi... signal in yes, audio out no

    Dug my M Audio Duo USB Midi out of the closet and trying to lay some tracks in Garage Band, but problems. I could use a hand. When attempting to record...
    - OK: Garage Band recognizes the device and I'm able to 'seemingly' record audio (from external mic via midi device)
    - NOT OK: I'm not able to 'monitor' via line out through Mac - headphones plugged into Mac (line out through midi is okay, but only picks up native signals, not tracks from Garage Band)
    - NOT OK: Also, replaying the track doesn't produce ANY sound (despite the track showing a signal)
    Any ideas? Is M Audio Duo compatible - it's pretty old piece of hardware.

    First you are not using MIDI you are recording Audio that has been digitized.
    If you can't hear the playback through the interface make sure you choose the interface as your output device in garageband preferences and you have the mix knob on the interface set to the playback/return side.
    I just looked at the interface and it doesn't seem to have any mix knob try toggling the stand alone mode button.

    i have not been able to replay older Garage Band productions I have done. I got one to play and then when I edited and saved said did i want to save to newer version. I said ok...But getting repeated error that disc too slow and then starts playing in timeline but no audio then says Garage Band not responding.
    Please advise...

    Just some thoughts: You have an older Mac, so that could be part of the problem. You may have processes running in the background, or perhaps your disk is too full. Look in the Apple Knowlege Base for things like Startup Items, Launch Daemons, etc and see if you have any that you can get rid of. Also check your HD available space. If it's too full, your files are probably fragmented and spread all over the disk, which might make it respond too slowly.
