Garage Band Not Running, freezing, and driving me nuts in the process.
I have never had an issue with Garageband until now. It is locking up almost immediately when I try to use chord trainer, and all lessons. I recently bought a new amp, Fender Mustang III, and installed the Fuse software. I havent been able to find any compatibilty issues mentioned anywhere, so Im hoping that someone can give me an idea what I need to do to solve this. I am using a M-Audio fast track interface, and have made sure that all of the software in play is updated to its current version. Its completely and perpetually freezing at this point. I cant get the app to run long enough to troubleshoot. I just get the spinning wheel..HELP PLEASE.

I'm trying to download the new version of itunes. durig the install i get a message that I need to verify that I have sufficient privilege. Then I get a message of a Windows error 126 and a missing file MSVCR 80.dll. I've tried everything on the support site and nothing works.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Is there a way to get a version of the Garage Band app that runs on version 5.1.1? I have an iPad 1 and can't get any higher iOS. The App store is telling me that Garage Band only runs on iOS 7.

Garage Band not opening due to conflicting third party plug-ins that migrated unintentionally from studio computer to Macbook (mainly T-Racks). Please advise on how to bypass or delete these rogue plug-ins. Many thanks!
It is hard to advise, how to uninstall. If the application, that installed the plug-ins has an uninstaller, try to run that uninstaller. Or look at the manufacturer's web site on how to uninstall.
Audio plug-ins are usually installed in the system Library in the Folders
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins
or in your user library
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins
Open these folder, for example by using the Finder's GO menu:
"Finder > GO > Go to folder" and enter one of the paths above.
If you can identify the offending plug-ins, remove them and restart the Mac. -
I have an iPad 1 that is currently showing software updated at version 5.1.1. Is it possible to update to iOS version 7 on this device? My goal is to get Garage Band on this device and the app store is telling me I need iOS version 7.

If you really need to upgrade you can save a bit of money and get an older version than the ipad Air.
First, you can sell your ipad 1 to places like gazelle.com, cashforyourmac.com, sellyour mac.com, or many others out there. The sites I listed give you cash. At this point gazelle.com is giving $70.00 for any ipad 1 in 'good' condition. And cashforyourmac will give you $25.00 over what gazelle.com or sellyourmac.com offers you. Shipping is free.
Then, with that money, go the the Apple online certified refurbished store. As an example, a new 64gb Air costs $699.00. A refurbed 4th gen 64gb costs $529.00 and a 3rd gen 64gb costs $499.00. Personally, I'd skip the 3rd gen. So if you buy a 4th gen 64gb at $529.00 minus what you can get from a sale to above, you can get an ipad 4 64gb for just over $430.00, a savings of savings of about $270.00. (A new 32gb Air is $599.00, a 4th gen 32gb is $449.00, and a 3rd gen 32gb is not on the site right now.) Google it and check if you can get better offers anywhere else. But getting one from the Apple refurb store gives you an essentially new ipad and using the above sites, you're not locked in with a particular site which will give you a gift card and restrict you to their store/site.

I like the guitar sound on my ipad and want to incorporate it into a project that I have on my Mac in garageband. Is there any way to hook my ipad up to my mac and use it like I would the keyboard I use to record into garage band?

In order to read and write in the external disk on the PC, you have to select "MS-DOS (FAT)" as "Format". If you choose any other option, the PC won't be able to read your external disk. Apart from that, note that you can't use files bigger than 4 GB with FAT. If you want to use the external disk with files bigger than 4 GB, you have to format your new partition in exFAT, and you have to do it on a PC -
The App Store says I have updates for I-Photo and Garage Band. When I try to update I get the following message: You have updates available for other accounts To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." Both apps came with my computer and as far as I know I only have one Apple account. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I read the solution someone else suggested (type your user name without @gmail and create a new password. When I tried it, I was asked for my birthday. It didn't recognize it. I had a big setback today on a project I've been working on. I recently made my first recording of my own playing and singing, a guitar track and a vocal track of a children's song. When I recorded the guitar track, it took me a whole day to get it right. I used the metronome through earbuds. Then I listened to the guitar track and sang into a Snowball mike to get the vocal track down. Played separately or together, they came out crisp, clear, no dostortion. I made a CD of the song by sending the song to iTuines, with and without my voice so the children could practice to it. I taught the song to 30 fifth graders so I could add a vocal track of them singing. My plan is to use it as the music for a slideshow I'm making for their elementary graduation. I'm a mom, not their teacher. The teachers of the two classrooms have been generous in letting me teach the kids the song, and setting up 45 minutes for me to record it. Did the recording of the kids today at the school. Two tracks of all 30 kids doing their very best to cooperate. They sang well. I opened the garage Band file at home and it is such poor quality audio that it is UNUSABLE. There's a lot of fuzz and distortion. I can probably get their teachers to let me have them again to give it another try, but I better get it right. When I recorded my own voice to the guitar track, I monitored using earbuds. I can't hook 30 kids up to my Macbook with earbuds. I played the guitar track from speakers and held the microphone out toward them, so the mike was between the speakers and the kids. The speakers and mike both faced the kids. They sang really well, so it was pretty disappointing to find the recording sounded so bad. My guitar teacher tried to help me figure out what to do, but he thinks it is going to be very tricky to get it right since the kids have to hear the guitar track to sing it. I'm considering playing the CD I made of the guitar track from a boom box behind the kids and just recording the kids on a separate project file and losing the ability to edit, and probably losing most of the guitar quality and volume. But I won't know if it works until I have 30 kids and 2 teachers and all my gear set up to actually try it. Whatever I do, it has to work on my next try. There's very little time left and no budget. I thought my Macbook Pro and the Snowball, purchased at the Apple Store, would be enough.

You could do the boombox with the kids and set it up so the kids hear the guitar but try to get as little as possible of the prerecord guitar on the the track. Then either mix the kids recording with the original guitar track or add a guitar track to the kids track later.
When you do the recording of the kids bring headphones to monitor levels. Also make sure you're happy with the track before you leave the school. -
Phone freezes and turn itself off when the "Ph. se...
I got a Nokia n97 mini 2 weeks ago and the phone works great except that sometimes it would turn itself off and when I turn it back on it lags and freezes. I notice every time the phone freezes and turn itself off when the "Ph. setup" in the App menu is running. Is the device updating itself? How can I make it stop? Everything freezes as soon as the Ph. setup starts running.
I try waiting it out (if the phone is setting something up it shouldn't take more than a few minutes) but I leave it there for several hours and it's still frozen.

FYI: Siri can only do certain things when locked. It will not do anything that requires the iPhone to be unlocked (without first unlocking the iPhone). -
My G5 iMac has a screen color problem. The color is green with lines. What can I do to repar this? Sometimes the screen will freeze and I have to reboot the computer and the screen will be normal for up to 5-6 hours and then suddenly changes back to a greenish color.
Try running in Safe mode. This leaves out some video drivers. Which results in machine not using advanced video hardware.

You will need to use an external DVD drive to run the disc installer that came you your machine. You can also do it with another Mac using the Remote Install Max OS X app. Finely, if you have access to another computer, you could burn the install image on a USB thumb drive, boot from that, erase the drive and run the installer.

Freezes and restarts some times during the day
In March 2014 I bought a nokia lumia white icon Verizon Microsoft Store in Orlando, I live in Brazil so I'm using the unit in a Brazilian company, so I do not own a Verizon number. He's presenting problem, freezes and restarts some times during the day, as did the recovery and all other procedures that read on the subject, the problem was not resolved.
