Garageband 1o.o.1: sound effects...?

I specifically bought a mac to use garageband and the excellent suite of loops and sound effects there but much to my horror the new GB does not include either in the library. So I paid the extra $4.99 to downlowd what i thought was the rest of the loops library but still no sound effects,...only music loops. And I can't find any other apps that include those sound effects that were included in earlier versions of GB. Anyone know of a way to get them for my GB library? thx

Does garageband use different amp sounds &effects I can use with my guitar?

I know I can plug my guitar into my iMac and use garageband to record music, but does Garageband also have amp models and effects that I can use with my guitar? Can I just plug my guitar into my iMac and make music with effects and sounds for my guitar?

What happened to the sound effects in Garageband after in app purchase of $4.99 expansion pack?

I purchased a brand new MacBook Pro OS Mavericks and promptly began using Garageband 10.0.2. There were many sound effects provided in the program (thunder, galloping horses, etc.), and I decided to complete the in app purchase. Once I completed the download and install, I realized that I no longer had those sound effects. Does any one know what happened to them?

Galloping Horses and thunder are not part of the GarageBand sound effects. You have probably other loop packages installed, for example the Final Cut Pro Sound Effects or the iLife Sound Effects.
Check, how your Loop Browser is set. The pop-up menu at the top of the Loop Browser should be set to "Loops" to have all loops available. Set the "Scale" to any, clear the search field. In the GarageBand Preferences, "Loops" pane disable "Keyword Browsing", filter for more relevant results.
Now you should be able to see all installed loops. If not, use the command "Reindex all Loops" from the "Loops" pop-up menu.

Garageband unable to update to acquire extra sound effects

I was trying to access the Vinyl loops/sound effects earlier but it asked me to download the software update. When I got to the Garageband menu in the app and click "Check for Updates" it says Update Avaliable (from 6.0.4 to 6.0.5). When I click update software and it takes me to the app store, however, it then says No Updates Avaliable. I tried to download the 6.0.5 update from the website, but once I clicked on the download to go to the set-up page, it said "Sorry, Garageband 6.0 is required for this update."
My computer is a 1.5 year old MacBook Pro, and my software is 10.8.5.
Please help me figure out how to access these Vinyl sound effects! I would like to update Garageband but my main objective is getting those 9 loops.

Have you moved your GarageBand application from the Applications folder to a subfolder or renamed it? Software update only works, when the application is in the Applications folder and has not been renamed in any way.
But try the manual install, as described by mteep: Re: GarageBand '11 won't download additional loops

I am afraid, we canot help you here much, because we are not allowed to discuss problems with software running on Beta Release Systems or is the MacOs X version a typo? If not, post your question in the Developer forum, please. I expect your problem is caused by running the Beta Release.

Why does my new garageband 10.0.03 not have the legacy with sound effects or radio sound preset or applause preset???? I need these to be able to chop samples into the keyboard keys by dragging and dropping them into the keys.

I am just trying to chop samples and drop them into a track with legacy-sound effects- radio sounds, so that I can play with them and chop them onto keys. I see a bunch of videos on youtube showing you how to do it, but I can't find those kits on the newest garageband.

In Garage Band on iPAD, is there a way to make each key on the keyboard play a different sound effect?

I'd like to be able to play a number of selected sound effects using the keyboard in Garage Band. I've figured out how to import audio tracks from my itunes library into a track in Tracks View.

GarageBand on iPad does not have the SoundEffects instruments, that GarageBand on Mac has.
The closest you can get to this on your iPad will be the "Sampler" instrument. You can record a sound sample and play it using the "Sampler" instrument and adjust the pitch.
But you cannot assigne different samples to different keys.

Sound effects not working

Suddenly my iPad 3 with Retina display isn't playing sound effects in many apps. Music and videos playback audio fine. Sound effects in the Settings app work fine.
I can change the sound effect for sending Mail through the Settings app and hear what it should sound like, but when I send mail through the Mail app, I hear nothing. Some 3rd party apps sound fine, while others are now missing sound effects.

This might be caused by account settings.
If you have multiple accounts on your Mac sometimes when you do a fast
userswitch settings of the previous account don't update. If the previous user
had the volume muted in his settings, the account switch might not reset
this to the settings you set in your account. Now an os update or big server
maintenance, account cleaning session can cause these issues as well.
Try to log in to the account you used previously, make sure that sound
settings are ok, When sound is working now it's ok for your other account.

Why is the sound effects library missing from the audio menu is FCPX 10.1

Up until version 10.1 Final Cut Pro had a sound effect library under the music tab.
Its now completely missing and only shows itunes.
Has anyone else noticed this problem and know how to put it back to the way it used to be.

follow BenB's solution as follows:
Minor upgrade glitch, don't move any folders.
Quit FCP X.
If you have GarageBand, launch it.
Quit GarageBand.
Reboot your Mac.
Open FCP X, you should be fine.
Repeat once or twice if needed.

Recording Sound Effects

I'm developing an iOS app, and a sound effect that I purchased is not able to used in the app. Since I can't find a similar sound effect that can be used, can I record the sound effect on GarageBand and use it in the app? It will be a paid app, not a free one.

Your question is more related to app development, plus the GarageBand for the iPad (This is a GarageBand. for OSX forum).
If I understand you right, then I would look at the IAA (Inter-App Audio) feature. This is the new standard that lets you route audio (and other data) between audio apps on iOS devices. The standard was developed by Apple and is supported by a growing nuymbers of audio apps, including GarageBand for iPad.
Another similar format is Audiobus, that is also supported by many audio apps.

Does anyone know where I can get a drum roll sound effect in Garageband?

Do a Google search with drumroll.aif or drumroll.wav, and you'll find tons of them!

If I've made a song with remixed loops, can I post it on SoundCloud to share with facebook friends and stuff? Regarding this statement from the software license agreement: "...however, individual audio loops may not be commercially or otherwise distributed on a standalone basis, nor may they be repackaged in whole or in part as audio samples, sound effects or music beds."

How to add new sound effects?

Hi Guys,
I am fairly new to GarageBand and I wanted to had new sound effects. So I came here, read a few posts, an gave it a try. I got a couple of files(2 .aiff and 1 .aif) I went to the library / . . /iLifesoundeffect, created a folder called, Nature, and put to of files in that one. I put the other in the existing Animal folder. Yet, when I open the loops in garageband, I cannot see any of these files. What can I do to make them availble.
Question 2. Is there a way to use mp3 or wav files as well?

First they have to be made into "Apple Loops"

Second, you have to drop the files (or the folder of files) onto GB's Loop Browser so that GB knows they exist.

Drop them into the timeline.

Ilife Sound Effects and Final Cut Pro Sounds are not appearing in Final Cut Pro X anymore!?

I am new to the app Final Cut Pro X. And recently when I have gone into the Music and Sound Folder in final cut pro the option for Ilife Sound Effects and FCPX Sound Effects do not appear. I have read other forums and they have said to drag the sound files into FCPX but that isn't even a option. It onlt has iTunes options, please reply back someone this is stressing me out. I don't know if it is because of Mavericks or whatever but it is driving me insane and I need help!

This is a known issue in FCP X 10.1 and you will find many posts about it in the forum just do a search. Several solutions have worked for different users. Try the following:
1. Open and close GarageBand then relaunch FCP
2. Open and close iPhoto then relaunch FCP
3. Close and reopen FCP
4. Trash FCP preferences then relaunch FCP
Any one of these may work. Just try them in any order. Be aware the problem may recur.
