Garageband 412 update

ive got about eight months worth of recording done, about nine songs, finished, and im not sure if i should update to the 412 version. is there any risk of having these songs changed, deleted, or not running properly if i do the update?ive read some threads about people doing the update and their computer not being able to open the new version.
im the biggest ******* of computer knowledge so forgive me if this is a stupid question.
thanks

there shouldn't be any problem, however, general piece of advice:
never update ANYthing, in the middle of an important project (unless there's an issue that needs to be fixed)

  • How to stop the GarageBand software update reminder

I do not use GarageBand and I do not have much concern about the disk space.  However, I felt annoyed the GarageBand software update always pops up.   How can this be stopped?

One way to deal with this is...    System Preferences>Software Update... and uncheck the 'Check for Updates' box. You will have to check manually but that should stop the schedualed pop ups.
    Hope that helps.

  • Garageband wont update

I have just downloaded the 4.1.2 update for Garageband (had ver 3.0.5) but every time the installer opens this message comes up.
    'Alert
An eligible GarageBand application was not found in /Applications.'
    and then it quits.
    GarageBand is definitely in /Applications.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance (:

An update is within the same version (3.1, 3.2, etc.). You're talking about an upgrade from version 3 to version 4.

  • An age old bug - GarageBand not updating

It is actually both iPhoto & GarageBand that are not being updated. The exact message is this:
    This update is not available.
You must have previously purchased the item being updated. Tap Buy to purchase it now.
which doesn't make much sense to me. Does it make sense to anyone else?
So, I have just one apple ID with which I purchased everything. And iPhoto came with the laptop as a part of the iLife bundle. In other words, it is not a multiple apple IDs issue.
Also, it's been more than 90 days since I bought my laptop, so no free Apple Care for me and I really don't want to pay them to fix this bug. I feel like that is exactly what it is - a bug.
Finally, I browsed the forums for weeks now and I see that a lot of people have this exact same problem, but non of the solutions proposed worked for me. I even contacted the Apple support, App Store Support etc. etc., but they were not very helpful, meaning they just want my money and don't want to fix this issue for free, which I kind of naively expected them to do.
And one more time, as stated in the title, I think it is an age-old bug in the App Store. I'm surprised it is taking Apple several months to fix it.
Anyways, any help or words of support would be greatly appreciated.

     > Software Update
    does nothing I think.
Though, GarageBand version is 6.0.4. Is that the latest stable version?

  • Problem with Dead Spots in track volume after latest IOS GarageBand compatability update

I'm relatively new to Logic Pro and this forum so not sure on how to use either I guess.
Anyway, I recently updated my Logic Pro 9 with the latest GarageBand for IOS compatabilty update and immediately noticed that on one song a track has lost volume in parts and I can't see how.  Other parts of the same track have normal volume. I can't see where the volume could have dropped. I haven't changed anything and the volume is set to 6 for the entire track.
Has anyone else experienced this and do you know of a remedy. The track I am referring to is a track with Logic Strings from the Orchestral String Instruments.

I believe this issue occurs only between songs that iTunes has converted to a lower bitrate for you during transfer to your iOS device and songs that it has not done this for. Take this Between the Buried and Me album, for instance. I have marked all of the transitions that should have been gapless but probably aren't in red. I know for sure that most of these marked transitions are indeed broken and that the most of the transitions not marked in red work flawlessly... I honestly can't remember whether or not some of these transitions were gapless or not, but the many transitions I do remember working or not working match up exactly with whether or not the songs on either side of the transition were also on other sides of the 256kbps threshold, the threshold at which I enabled iTunes to convert tracks to 256kbps AAC.
I'm going to try re-sync'ing my library with that "feature" disabled and see if it fixes my gapless playback problem. Will post the results once I test it out.

  • Any GarageBand app update?

I love the app, it's probably one of the best and most useful ways to use the iPad and create music, especially with Midi control via keyboard, but it has some limitations, like transposing a section of a song, or having more instruments to play like strings and flutes or moreover the use of more time signatures when creating your piece of music. I hoped to see some update like this since the app was released two months ago, but unfortunately I haven't seen one yet. Anyone's suggestion is truly appreciated, thanks in advance!

I am having the exact same error both in iPhone 6 Plus with 8.1.1 and iPad3 also with 8.1.1
It also tells me that I already have a previous purchase that has not been downloaded.
I already did a hard reset, a soft reset, uninstalled Garageband and no luck

  • Absolutely Furious With Garageband Since Update

I have always gotten on well with Garageband until the last update that I've reluctantly agreed to. Now the tracks are apparently too large to send by email and I can't find a way to send it to iTunes. Not only that, but now my music software, Reason, will not open these files because it's an 'unsupported format', something that was never a problem before the last update. I don't know what the **** went on since the last update but I'm really not impressed. I am basically screwed now.
Am I just missing something here or have they changed the file format as well as what used to be an easy way of getting it onto my PC?

Which version of GarageBand have you updated to?
nd I can't find a way to send it to iTunes.
Does this no longer work? http://help.apple.com/garageband/iphone/2.0/index.html#chs39284d66
Send a GarageBand song to iTunes
Tap the Navigation button in the control bar, tap My Songs, then tap Select.
Tap the song you want to send, then tap the Action button .
    Tap Share Song via iTunes.
    Do one of the following:
To send the song as a GarageBand song, tap GarageBand.
To send the song as an audio file, tap iTunes, then tap Share.
After you tap the iTunes icon, you can choose the quality of the file GarageBand sends to iTunes. You can also add artist, composer, and title information that appears in iTunes.
Sync your iPhone or iPod touch with your computer. In iTunes, the exported song appears in the Documents list in the File Sharing area when GarageBand is selected.
    Do one of the following:
Drag the song from the GarageBand Documents list to the Finder.
Click Save As, navigate to the location where you want to save the song, then click Save.
You can open the GarageBand song in GarageBand on your Mac, or play the audio file in iTunes (or any compatible audio application) on your computer. GarageBand songs cannot be opened on a Windows computer.
How do you export the songs to Reason, if Mail and iTunes Export did not work?
Not only that, but now my music software, Reason, will not open these files because it's an 'unsupported format', something that was never a problem before the last update.

  • Can Garageband be updated to include MIDI out

Such a user freindly app. for us MIDI newbs. And great for on the go sketching ideas out even for the more priofficient. Unfortunatley NO MIDI OUT. What were they thinking? Such wasted potential. Was this an oversight?? Part of an evil conspiracy? I don't know. But MIDI out is far from impossible. Probably not all that difficult for the programers had they wanted it in there. Not an unusual thing for MIDI based software. Appears deliberate. But to what end? Again I do not know. Can someone Please put an exit door in this wall of programing. And bring this app up to it's potential.

GB would definitely not be the tool to do that. If the songs are professionally mastered and have an "optimal" loudness, you could use a simple audio editor (like Audacity) to normalize them all to the same level. Then they should sound about equally loud.

  • Why doesn't Final Cut Pro X update songs from Garageband?

While working on a short film in Final Cut Pro X, I worked up a simple sound track in Garageband. I imported the Garageband project, aligned it, and discovered that I'd mistimed one of the sound transitions.
So, I went back to Garageband and updated the transition, moving the sound effect to the right spot to match up to the video, and then went back to FCPX. I dragged the Garageband project onto the original copy that I'd imported, and selected "replace" and ended up with... the original. After some experimenting, I actually went and deleted an entire track from the Garageband project and reloaded it in FCPX... still no change. How can I fix this?

    Here's an update...
I made some changes to the Garageband track and saved it as another project... Final Cut refused to even detect it until I restarted Final Cut.
I have a sound effect that's placed at 1:32 in Garageband, and it ALWAYS plays at 1:31 in Final Cut, no matter how shift it around in Garageband. After changing the song in Garageband and sharing it to disk, I verified that the sound effect is happening at 1:32 by playing it back in Quicktime, so it must be Final Cut that's misbehaving.

  • Yamaha YDP-140 not recognized in GarageBand

I have a Yamha YDP-140 digital piano which I'm trying to connect to GarageBand, but I can't get any notes played on the piano to appear in GarageBand.
My MIDI interface is an Alesis MIDI-USB cable.
I verified the cable works correctly by using Sweet MIDI Player. A MIDI file loaded into Sweet MIDI Player plays on my piano. In the MIDI Out section in Sweet MIDI Player, I selected CoreMIDI with "USB2MIDI" for Output A-D. "USB2MIDI" is also selected for MIDI In.
In GarageBand's preferences, in the Audio/MIDI section, I have "System Setting" for both "Audo Input" and "Audio Output", and to the right of "MIDI Status" I see "1 MIDI Input(s) detected".
Audio MIDI Setup shows USB2MIDI. When I click "Test Setup" and then click the downfacing arrow under "USB2MIDI", a sound is played on my piano, which seems to indicate that the system sees the piano and is able to play notes on it.
However, I don't seem to be able to get GarageBand to recognize or use the piano. By the way, I'm on 10.7.3 with GarageBand 11, updated to the latest version.
    Any help is much appreciated!!

Yes, the cable is connected correctly. No, the blue dot does not light up. I might want to add that the piano does not show up at all in the MIDI devices section in Audio Midi Setup, I only see the adapter there (USB2MIDI).

  • Import .mp3 to garageband 10.0

I cannot import mp3 from iTunes. please help!!!! It is lowercase .mp3 and it says its not an audio track. I do this all the time I have no idea why it no longer works with the update.

I'm having the same issue. The .mp3 tag is correct (verified it in iTunes/Info). But I don't even have Garageband giving me an error message saying that anything's wrong. It just won't allow me to drag it either from my desktop nor from the media section of Garageband. It refuses it and bounces it back to the original location. I tested the file in Garageband to see if the Media/iTunes file would play and it did, so nothing is wrong with the file (it also works in iTunes). Please advise. Thank you! I've also done the new OS X software updates today and that did not fix the issue and my Garageband is updated as well.

  • Can't install Garageband Instruments and Apple Loops 1.0 on OS Mavericks

Today I decided to download (one more time) the Garageband Instruments update and I waited for like 5 hours+ and when it was almost finishing the download it appeared that I was already installed. So I went to Garageband to check out the new instruments and nothing was there, it was just like before the update and when I click on a new instrument to try it out, this message appears just like before download this:
And when I go to the Mac App Store to download it again this is what I get:
And after clicking the Update and/or the Update All button, it turns gray and says it is installed, it doesn't load or anything, I just click and then appears just like in the image below:
My MacBook Pro is currently running the latest version of OS Mavericks and the latest Garageband ver. which is 6.0.5. I really need to use those new Instruments and can't figure out how to fix this... Thanks in advance to whoever helps me.
Side note: I already tried restarting/turning it on and off and it didn't work

I'm sorry but I can't find any button written 'Accept' on that page. On the Garageband app it is written Installed in gray just like on the Mac App Store. See the screenshot below if you could:

  • Something is screwy with the GarageBand piano lesson practice sessions.

I am learning to play the piano and I have an M-Audio USB KeyStudio keyboard hooked up in order to learn. When I go to the Learn to Play sessions, and I click record, I can hear what sounds like previous recordings I have made, but I don't hear keyboard tones, I hear what sounds like the tapping of the keys themselves. I am not hearing any sound when I am trying to record my progress, but when the keyboard is hooked up and a blank GarageBand project is started, I can hear the keys clearly when I play them. It's like it doesn't recognize my keyboard when I am in the Learn to Play section, and it sounds like it is recording the actual tapping of my fingers to the keys from a mile away.

    I have a similar problem.
Actually my problem is that on the "play along" section of the lesson, it makes me hear the last record with a pretty high volume, and the actual recording I'm doing in a really low volume.
And if I try to change the volume or mute it on the "Mixer" (the volume of "My recordings", "My instruments" and "teacher Piano" are independent), the thing doesn't work as it should do.
Meaning that if I mute "My recordings", it mutes also what I'm playing at the moment.
I just want to make a recording hearing nothing more then what I'm playing in that specific moment.
By the way, I was using a previous version of Garageband before updating to Yosemite, and everything worked smoothly.
Inter Core i7, Yosemite, Garabe Band 10, Yamaha P-35 through MIDI cable
