GarageBand and Tascam FireOne

I would like to know who has experince with these two items, any tweeks or shared knowlege would be most apreciated. I just purchaced the FireOne and waiting for shipping. Presently using Line6 ux1 w/pod farm and have EZdrummerjust started to use Garageband (awsome) and have been using ableton live 6 for a while.

Ok peeps, I've been fooling with my fireone and GB. I've got the play, record, return to begining, and wheel buttons to work. Here are the hex codes to plug into the program GarageRemote.
return to beginning - b0 2f 02
Left arrow - b0 2f 43
play - b0 2f 44
Right arrow - b0 2f 41
Loop - ?
REcord - b0 2f 45
Note: The left and right arrows do not function properly, but use the wheel instead. pretty cool! Perhaps we could ask the garageremote developer to add some KEYBOARD SHORTCUT capabilities so that we could use the F1-F8 buttons to add/split/delete tracks. Would be nice. Hope this helps if you figure it out completely please repost.

Tascam FireOne Isn't Showing Up in Applications

Hi. I just bought a Tascam FireOne to use as my Audio/MIDI interface for Logic Express. My iMac isn't recognizing the FireOne, however, even though I've installed the proper software and have the Firewire connected properly.
I've noticed that, on July first, someone posted about this problem, but I'm wondering whether anyone has any new information that might help me. I'm new to Logic Express, so I'm hoping that I don't have to wait too long to start using it.

Sorry but that IS Your Applications folder as it is in the ROOT of your drive which looks like you, or something, have named Macintosh SSD. And below that is a List of the Application in that folder.
Open a Finder window and at or near the top should be Applications, that's it.

I am a new Logic Pro 8 user and have bought a Tascam FireOne interface.
I have a problem, hopefully anyone can help me...
I can't set the Tascam buttons, Logic can't find the Tascam FireOne.
Does anyone know what I should do?

M buttons are never flashing in blue, but in grey, and if they are flashing in grey, *there is something soloed.* Really. It could be your Prelisten channel strip or the Click channel strip. they are only visible in the Mixer when the All button is active, or you can also see them in the *Mixer layer* in the Environment.
*Grey flashing M buttons mean something is soloed.* Period. The only way you can convince me that nothing is soloed is by presenting a screenshot of the complete (Environment) mixer without any soloed channel strip. Also, I'ld advise you to update to 10.6.4 and NOT 6.5, there seem to be all sorts of trouble with USB in 10.6.5. 6.4 seems much stabler so far.

Any Comments On Tascam FireOne Audio Interface?

I ordered a Tascam FireOne FireWire Audio Interface today after doing a fair amount of research, online reviews, website, GB discussion, etc. I also looked at Lexicon and M-Audio USB boxes, but heard that FireWire would prevent any potential latency issues and sound glitches. Since I updated to OS 10.5.3 yesterday, I am wondering if there may be a driver or any software issues.
Is anyone here using the FireOne with GB? If so, could you post some comments about the box?

Well, I guess I have to respond to my own post. The Tascam FireOne arrived and I plugged it in to test it on my older iBook G4. I installed the software from the CD. The iBook is running the latest Tiger OS, I haven't had time to test it on my MacBook OS 10.5.3, but I'm sure it should be fine. So far, all is well. The box runs smooth, no latency issues, background noise, crashes, seems very stable. I went into the Audio/MIDI utility and the app picked it up immediately. I then set up the Sound Pref and the GB pref. Everything seemed fine. The Tascam is built like a tank, really heavy and solid. It has a large weighted control wheel that moves smooth as silk and various function keys that can be assigned to various tasks.
In the bundle, they also put in Abelton LIve Lite and a BBE Sonic Maximizer Plug-In, whatever that thing does, I don't have a clue, but it lists for $129. Unfortunately the plug-in can't be installed in Intel Macs. I guess I could install it in the iBook G4, but I am only running GB ver2. I want to use the MacBook for all my digital recording projects.
At this point, it looks like the Tascam FireOne is a good choice as an Audio/MIDI interface and a good price, $149, cheaper than some of the M-Audio USB boxes. It comes with a 6 ft, very thick well made FireWire cable, AC adapter and a few other toys. Of course the 6 pin FireWire input in the Mac self powers the box, so you don't need to run the AC.

Error reading/writing file message when opening garageband and/or files

I've been recently getting this message when I open garageband and files
"Error reading/writing file\U201Ccom.apple.garageband.cs\U201D
I've been in and repaired disk permissions and all that it says it is all fine, reinstall garageband and message still comes up, weird.
not only is garageband being a nuisance, Mac OS X 10.6.2 is being a pain when shutting down telling me to restart the computer. This only happened since upgrading to 10.6. No one as yet knows this promble so I'm gonna have to ring apple and see what is going on here.
and also my other problem is that mac doesn't seem as snappy anymore I noticed this before upgrading to 10.6 and made no difference when "cleanly" installing 10.6. I get a colour wheel popping up and i'm having to wait with simple tasks. iMac only 2 years old.

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repurchased Garageband and I can't get passed the complete installation. I don't seem to have the "com.apple.garageband.plist" file that has been a common solution. Any suggestions?

What exactly is happening? Is GarageBand trying to download over and over again?

The property list stores your preferences, but also the settings from the last run of the application. If that file is corrupted in some way, you might see third behaviour.
You must have this file, for it will be recreated automatically, if it is missing, or you have a permissions problem with your user library.
Perhaps you did look in he wrong place.
in MacOS 10.7. or later the User Library is hidden. To find the Preferences Files use the Finder's "Go" menu:
Quit GarageBand, if it is running.
Click onto you Desktop to bring the Finder forward.
In the Finder Menu press "Go" and hold down the "option/alt" key, until your user library appears in the drop-down menu
Select "Library" and in the Finder window that opens navigate to the "Prederences" folder; move com.apple.garageband.plist to the Desktop.
Log off and on again (don't skip that step!). Retry GarageBand and see if it GarageBand is now downloading the missing content properly.
If that does not fix the problem, post back and explain in more detail what the download problem is.
Why did you "repurchase" GarageBand? If you already owned GarageBand '11, it should be unnecessary.

Error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI. Sample rate 42804 recognized. Check conflict between Garageband and external device.

Sometimes, while playing back my software instrument songs, I get an intermittent pop-up error message, saying "Error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI. Sample rate 42804 recognized. Check conflict between Garageband and external device."
(Sometimes the five digit number is different, but remains a five-digit number beginning with "4".)
Simultaneously, the song stops until I press the "Okay" button in the pop-up window.
When I continue to play the song, the sound is jerky and clipped, and the playhead doesn't keep up with the song, and then suddenly jumps to the part of the song currently being played.
There's also a sound of static.
The issue seems to occur whether or not I have my MIDI controller turned on and plugged into my desktop Imac.

Had to erase and re-install. No longer can find Garageband and other apps. Where can I re-doanload these?

I have had this mac for years. It's one of the very first Macbook Pro models with Intel processor.
It originally came with OS X, and I have the install disk here. I upgraded to Snow Leopard when it came out.
Recently my disk failed and I had to Erase it and do a complete re-install. I assumed Garageband, and iMovie and a few other apps I used semi-regularly would be in the Optional Installs. I started from scratch, installed OS X and then installed Snow Leopard on top of it, installing the "Optional Installs" each time.
No copy of Garageband and these other useful apps appeared.
I can not download Garageband from the Apple site because each time I do it claims I need to have Garageband already installed. But since my complete reinstall did not install those, I'm stuck without these apps I once had.
How can I get these re-installed properly like they once were?
I just want my Macbook Pro back to where it was earlier this week before the disk failed.

New harddrive, I no longer have garageband and other software.

So I upgraded my harddrive and no longer have several programs that I want, GarageBand and iMovie among them. I have my Max OS X Install DVD in my Macbook right now, but found nothing under Optional Installs. Is there a way that I can get GarageBand, iMovie and any other programs back that I do not have?
I am also having trouble with my external harddrive, I'll mention it here just because I am already posting. I already have two partitions set up, one for an external harddrive and one for an external boot. The problem is, it says the one I have setup for the external boot needs a GUID Partition Table, or something like that about a GUID Partition table. When I try and change it in Disk Utility I am afraid I will erase my external harddrive which is currently backing up my laptop.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you. -Scott

You need to set a GUID partition table before installing the os. When I change hard drives I use Super Duper and make a clone of my old drive then do periodic syncs so if anything happens to my main drive it's just a matter of minutes to switch drives and back up and running.

Using adobe aud 3.0 with windows 8.1 and tascam interface

I just upgraded my computer to windows 8.1 from xp ....have been using adobe aud 3.0 since 08....worked fine till I ugraded to windows 8.1.....i use a tascam us 144 interface for voice recording but since I installed windows 8.1 AND Tascams laster drivers (latest one came out in 2010) adobe will record but only in spurts....when I hit record it will move across the screen about 2 inchs then stop...move a little more then stop.....so I went and bought a new interface (Focusrite iTrack solo) ...downloaded the drivers....when I hit record in Addobe audition I get a window that says WINDOWS SOUND DRIVER this audio nput not activated....check input config.....question....is there anything I can do to or adjust to continue to use the Tascam interface? if not how do I get Focusrite to record in Adobe

You need to make sure that you have ASIO drivers installed for your audio interfaces. Both manufacturers provide them. ASIO drivers completely bypass anything to do with Windows sound settings as well as providing lower latency.
In Audition's Hardware Setup page Audio Driver box make sure that you select the appropriate interface's ASIO drivers not Windows Sound for both the Edit and Multitrack tab. The various inputs and outputs should then appear in the boxes below.

Using Garageband and I cannot hear previously recorded tracks on headphones. Prefs are set to output on EMU0404 my audio device - this did work but now is not working.

Hi, I have this exact same problem. I haven't been using an iRig, just a cheap USB-jack cable. I managed to do this with the first cable I bought, but since it broke I've been unable to find a replacement that allows me to hear the drums while recording. DId you manage to get over this issue? Sony CCD-FX525 won't import color in IMovie9 with MacBook Pro. Dipswitch 2 is on. It's NTSC. Using yellow composite cable to ADVC110 converter. Opened GarageBand and played some, then quit. Still no color. 9pin firewire on Mac to 6pin on Canopus. ??

Using Canopus ADVC110 analog to digital converter.
VTR on.
Dipswitch 2 is on. Camcorder is NTSC.
Using RCA cables to connect to front of Canopus.
9pin firewire on MacBook Pro to 6pin firewire on back of Canopus.
Held the input select button for 25 seconds since copyright not an issue (home movies).
Opened Garageband and played some. Quit. Reopened IMovie.
Still can't get color. Can see video but color not solid.
Any ideas?

Thanks for getting back to me. I've tried two different yellow RCA cables and went out and bought a yellow composite cable on one end and the S-video on the other to connect to the ADVC110. Still didn't work. The picture comes through but the color is not quite there. I tried connecting camcorder directly to the TV via the yellow RCA cables and same thing so now I'm wondering if it's the camcorder or the analog to digital tv issue. I'm almost ready to give up.

GarageBand and iMovie not installing after restore

I have an iPad 2, it had GarageBand and iMovie installed before iOS 5.1 no problems.
I updated to iOS 5.1 and it was all fine...2 days later I am listening to a podcast and suddenly the audio cut out. I tried playing music and video and still nothing! So I tried all the obvious stuff restarting etc and eventually had to run a full restore from my backup.
This finally worked and my audio is back but now iTunes will not install iMovie or GarageBand despite the fact I own them and I have the latest iOS. If I go to iTunes on iPad and lookup the software it come up with the cost instead of the expected "install" option.
I would also confirm I had already had everything synced correctly.
Any suggestions? I don't fancy another 2 hours restoring my iPad again!

Sometimes when you update the software, the settings seem to go a little wacky and simple things like restarts, resets, and signing in and out of your ID can cure so many little issues. When I've updated in the past, I have had little issues that could not be logically explained - at least in my mind. So I start with the simple stuff.
I'm glad that you were able to download and install the apps again.
