Garageband app - false number of positive reviews?

It claims to have 17 for the current version - but there are only 2! And 20-odd negative reviews!

Apple has been caught doing some shady things in the past, just check the law-suits... Conspiracy to fix raised prices was one of many incidences in the recent past. We can go on and on, but I think you're a little too paranoid in regard to the voting thing.
It is true that studies in the past showed unfair and hugely biased ratings by game magazines, correlated to how much $$$ the publishers were willing to spend to advertise in the magazine. But I have yet to see this by Apple. In fact, look at OS X Server, I almost never bought that due to the hugely negative reviews and votes that it's been getting. I believe it probably is still at 1 star at the moment.... If Apple were cheating, you'd think that's one of the first thing's they'd try to clean up.

Recently, I purchased an app from Skylab called USA On-Device GPS Map ($10.00) for my brand-new Playbook (first-time RIM customer). There was one review with glowing feedback that suggested this app would meet my needs. I was very excited to finally join the tablet community, and was looking forward to use my tablet as a GPS device, but the app has not worked once. I contacted the developer for assistance and several weeks later I'm yet to receive a response. I went back to App World to leave a negative review, by then there were several dissatisfied customers. Today, I checked back to see if my review had been posted, but instead, all negative reviews had been deleted. There isn't a single negative review posted. Skylab has conveniently deleted them. I tried to re-post, but now I can't. This is UNETHICAL!!!
I'm afraid others will spend their money on something that is useless. I contacted RIM support to report the shady practices of this developer in hopes that they would contact them, but they said they couldn't do anything about it. How can RIM allow its customers to get ripped off? This does not inspire confidence in the company. Now, I'm reluctant to buy any more apps from App World. How can you distinguish the ethical from the unethical developers if negative reviews can be easily deleted by them? I think RIM is making a mistake. Apps is one major reason why people buy tablets. I like my Playbook and hope to have a better experience once the Droid Market opens to us. Until then, I'll take the $10.00 loss as a lesson, and not buy any more apps from App World. How disappointing!

How do I lengthen the number of measures I can record on the GarageBand app for iPad?

I have the GarageBand app for my iPad mini. When I go to record, it only lets me record 8 measures and then stops. How do I lengthen the number of measures I can record so I can record one track of an entire song?

By default song sections are eight bars long. To record a longer song,you need to extend your song with additional sections.

Either record your song in sections of eight measures, or extent a region across several sections:
Change the length of a section
Open the song section controls and tap the section you want to change.
Tap the up or down arrow next to Manual to lengthen or shorten the section incrementally by bars. You can swipe vertically to change it in larger values.
If you want the section to match the length of your next recording (to the nearest bar), turn on Automatic before you record. This is especially useful when recording improvisations or longer parts. The Automatic option is available only for the last (rightmost) section in a song.
Tap anywhere in Tracks view to close the song section controls.
When you shorten a section, any regions extending past the end of the section are shortened. When you lengthen a section, all regions that extend from the beginning to the end of the section now loop to the new end of the section. A section can be any number of bars, and the overall song can be up to 320 bars long.

Can app developers really delete negative reviews in Blackberry AppWorld?

I was browsing AppWorld, and concerned when I looked at StickyBoard Notes HD, by Joey Beechey.
In his description, he writes, "ALL REVIEWS THAT ARE JUST SAYING ITS STUPID TO CHARGE FOR AN UPGRADE WILL BE DELETED."
This has troubling implications. If a developer can simply remove any negative reviews they choose to, how can I use the reviews as a basis for whether I'll try out or buy an app? Can he really remove reviews, or is he just hoping to stop people from posting about that?

Yes and no. The developer can "request" that a review is removed. This is something that should be checked by the App World team at RIM, but in reality they seem to grant any requests without hesitation.
There has been much discussion about this, because some developers abuse this. Many users who felt conned by the offline maps crooks posted a negative review, only to find it removed later.
In some cases reviews are automatically denied by App World. It seems to be fuzzy logic, but competitor names and profanity seem to flag reviews for automatic denial.
In the interest of full disclosure, of the 150 (almost all positive) reviews for our app, we have requested for 5 to be deleted: one was actually a very good rating but contained bad language. Another was a user who hadn't read the description. The other three were problems related to PlayBook OS, not our app.

I have always paid for apps with a credit card and now need to use an app store card but I can't get past the point where it keeps wanting my credit card updated. And can't used the app card number. Any advice???

I do NOT like using my credit card if I don't have to, and I went out of my way to go buy an Apple gift card, which I successfully redeemed into my Apple account. However, when I use the Apple "Cards" app, it will not let me use anything other than my credit card. I tried purchasing a card, hopefulling it would come out of my Apple store balance, but no such luck -- it came out of my credit card.
Apple is becoming more like Microsoft every day.

Garageband app download error

Hey Guys,
Blought the Garageband App and tried multiple times to download it in the latest version of iTunes. Tried all solutions like deleting temp files, but whenever it starts downloading again it stops everytime at 150,1MB. Trying to solve the problem to download it directly to iPad and iPhone do not give any solution. Any ideas?

you need to clear some space on your hard drive by deleting some files. 7 gigabytes is really a very low level of free space to begin with, a rule of thumb is to always have at least 10% - 15% of your hard drive available for the OS to use.
i don't recall exactly how big the D/L is, but it might be 5-6 gigs (and you'd need at least twice that so the files have room to be unpacked)

I recorded my band practice and my computer seems to have frozen. Now, I cannot open the recording nor can I open Garage Band. I keep getting the message: The application GarageBand.app can't be opened. -1712. I am trying to avoid forcing quit or shutting down because I really don't want to lose the recording.

What happened to all the user ratings and reviews in the Mac App Store? They're all missing. I checked a whole bunch of apps and nothing has any ratings or reviews from anyone. Has Apple gotten rid of user ratings and reviews? I sure hope not because I use those to help decide if I want to buy an app or not!

Yep. I think they've gone. But Google the app and another set of reviews (usually from the developers site) can be found.

Logic is the APPlication (program, app) that you are having the problem with.
Logic Pro can take advantage of other computers on your local (home or work) network to help it do "heavy lifting" data chores by using Bonjour and a feature called Nodes. It seems that Logic is attempting to find and connect to another machine on your network.
Do you have Logic installed on another computer there? That may be the source of the confilict.
You might want to post this question in the Logic Pro Community.
Be sure to indicate the version of Logic Pro that you are using. I'm sure the folks there can help you out.

you might need codecs on you pc. i find vlc player and codecs is perfect for music and videos.

I want to create new ringtones for my iPhone, and consulting Support, they explain how to do that using Garageband 9.0, but I want to know if the Garageband app for iPad can be used to do the same thing or not. The iPad uses iOS 4.3.3.

Would you be composing the ringtone in garageband or taking existing material and editing it? You could create something but then you would have to send to iTunes and format it as a ringtone there I believe

I wany to delete the holder/personnel number from position . Erronous holder does not exist in Production master data .
So i want to delete the holder from Po13 ( relationship between position and personnel number).
