Garageband 'Compare' function in Yosemite

When I adjust a plugin I can click on 'Compare' to switch to previous setting for comparison but then can't switch back to my newly adjusted value I was working on. Seems a pretty useless function at the moment...any clues to what I am doing wrong or is this a bug?

  • Could not find layout General Audio 10 in Garageband... Yosemite problem?

    iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012)
    2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Hi there
    Has anyone encountered a garageband problem since installing Yosemite?
    Whichever song file I bring up i keep getting this error message "Could not find layout General Audio 10"
    I'm assuming this refers to the visuals for the tones, compressors, reverbs etc as they're not showing for any tracks
    Is this likely to be fixed and, maybe, is it because i've just bought and installed Logic X?
    Hope someone can help

    General Audio 10 improbably part of the additional content.
    Try this fix posted by Robinson Collins:
    Re: I downloaded Garage Band 2x and the same note appears: there is no General Audio 10. Please advise. Thank you.
    Try this: Go to your menu bar, select "Garageband" and then "Restore Sound Library..."
    It can take awhile to download as it's a pretty big library. You might need to also select "Update Sound Library..." after the restore is done.

  • Document Compare Function in Acrobat Professional 9

    Document Compare function
    I use the 'compare' function to compare documents versions etc for changes. It looks like only 250 pages is the maximum number of pages that can compared during each operation.
    I am using documents that are 900+ pages and I keep the error message/screenshot attached.
    Is this a limitation with Acrobat Professional 9?

    Yes, it would appear to be a limitation that Adobe have put in. I'm in a similar situatiion where I have documents up to 2500 pages long that must be compared so while it takes longer I do the compare in batches of 250 pages at a time. It could be as a result of resource usage. I'm finding that when I do a compare, the fisrt one is generally ok but after that Acrobat slows down considerably - it may just be my computer (XP Pro 1.5 GB RAM and 2.8 GHz) but I'd like to know does Acrobat empty the cache or is the cache filling up after each compare and hogging resources?
    It's a great function but I wish it would work the way I expect it to.
    Cheers

  • Can't activate the COMPARE function for object DNL_CUST_TVAST for Adapter

    Hello
    I've applier OSS note 866824 to enable the exchange of the sales area flag deletion. I had to do the initial download for the customizing object DNL_CUST_TVAST but it failed because the no intial load was permitted as the data distribution was active. So I've applied note 887696 to enable the intial load for this object : I've deleted the COMPARE function for this object with transaction R3AC3. I've done the initial load for this object and now I can't add the COMPARE function : the error message is enter linked bdoc type for synchronisation load. and I don't know what to do...
    if somebody can help me...
    thanks a lot

    Thanks for your tip but it does not work, I need to fill this field.
    I just have an answer from SAP support, this value COMPARE is relevant for loading data in CDB.
    there no sense to add the compare value for this object : the compare load can never be used for this object. It was a delivery error

  • Adobe Pro 9.0 Compare functionality

    Does a PDF have to have tags for the compare functionality to work?

    frstrsystemI make a fix, here it is:
    1) I launch acropro 9 on the server, I go to the view->toolbars->tasks menu to  the "tasks" toolbar (which cause the crash).
    2) on the server, run regedit and go to current user\software\adobe\adobe acrobat\9.0 and export this hive on a file like acrobat9_user.reg
    3) create a acro9pro.cmd file with
    regedit /S n:\scripts\acrobat9pro_user.reg
    @start "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\" Acrobat.exe
    save this file on the server
    publish your app and call the CMD instead of the acrobat file
    trick; you can map drive into the cmd so that user can access network shares and not only the server on.

  • In Mavericks, there was a drop-down to select outgoing SMTP server. How do I restore that functionality in Yosemite?

    My university email addresses forward to my Fastmail account. I want to be able to send through the university SMTP servers. Mavericks had a drop-down in the compose window to send from a server of my choice. Yosemite does not have this. Is there a way to enable the equivalent functionality in Yosemite?

    I still have Mavericks on my work computer. This is the functionality I want to enable on Yosemite:
    That way if I switch the from field I can also switch the SMTP server to match. I can not find anyway to make Yosemite pair the correct from address to the correct SMTP server, or a way to manually select the SMTP server (as was possible in Mavericks).

  • Can I configure the BTREE compare function at search time?

    Hi, all,
    I was implementing the 'order by' feature on top of BDB. The problem I met is the "reverse order", that means 'order by xxx desc'.
    BDB provides cursor->get API that is used to do search, with flags of 'DB_SET_RANGE', 'DB_GET_BOTH_RANGE'. This is perfect when do 'order by xxx asc' search.
    But when I do reverse search, it is complicated, because such as 'DB_SET_RANGE', they find the record that is equal or large than, not equal or less than, this situation becomes even more complicated when the records is duplicated(I need move the cursor forward and back, back and forword). My question is, is there a way to specify the Btree compare function at search time? Now I can only find a way to specify the compare function when the db is created. If there are options that can reverse the compare function at search time, also things done.
    Thanks very much!

    Hi,
    It is not possible to change the btree comparison function after the database has been created. It needs to return consistent results at all times, or the internal btree structure will become corrupt.
    I don't really understand the issue you are facing. Can't you do a DBC->get(DB_SET_RANGE) call, and then walk the cursor backwards? That is if the position returned from the DBC->get(DB_SET_RANGE) is not equal to the requested key, call DBC->get(DB_PREV) before iterating any further?
    It is possible to control the behavior of the previous/next operations on cursors in relation to duplicate sets by using the correct flags. See the documentation for [DB_PREV_NODUP|http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/api_c/dbc_get.html#DB_PREV_NODUP]. You can see the other related flags documented on the same page.

  • Vector. Point .sortOn()? How to make a compare function?

    Okay in AS2 I had an array of Points. And I sorted it like this: myArray.sortOn(["x", "y"],[Array.NUMERIC, Array.NUMERIC]);
    I was changing the code over to AS3 and I thought I would change my array into a Vector of Points. But then I realized there isn't a sortOn method for Vectors.
    The sort method takes a compare function and I think I have that working. But I was wondering if there is a better or cleaner way of writing compare functions? This is new to me.
    function compare(p1:Point,p2:Point):Number {
    if (p1.x>p2.x || (p1.x==p2.x && p1.y>p2.y)) {
    return 1;
    } else if (p1.x<p2.x || (p1.x==p2.x && p1.y<p2.y)) {
    return -1;
    return 0;

    there's no substantial difference but in my tests (in cs4,as3) the array.sortOn() was slightly faster:
    var v:Vector.<Point>;
    v = new Vector.<Point>();
    var lengthV:uint=1000000;
    for (var i:uint=0; i<lengthV; i++) {
        v.push(new Point(Math.round(i*Math.random()),Math.round(i*Math.random())));
    var startTime:uint = getTimer();
    v.sort(f);
    trace(getTimer()-startTime);  // ~4700
    var a:Array = [];
    for(var j:uint=0;j<lengthV;j++){
        a.push(new Point(Math.round(i*Math.random()),Math.round(i*Math.random())));
    startTime = getTimer();
    a.sortOn(["x", "y"],[Array.NUMERIC, Array.NUMERIC]);
    trace(getTimer()-startTime);  // ~3500
    function f(p1:Point,p2:Point):Number {
        if (p1.x>p2.x || (p1.x==p2.x && p1.y>p2.y)) {
            return 1;
        } else if (p1.x<p2.x || (p1.x==p2.x && p1.y<p2.y)) {
            return -1;
        return 0;

  • Why is Mac Calendar non-functional in Yosemite?

    I installed Yosemite onto my 27" iMac (2009, intel chips, 1gb hard drive, 4 gb RAM) and all **** broke loose. Nothing worked for four days, all anything would do is to freeze up for five minutes to an hour at a time or until I used force quit to get out of there: Calendar, iPhoto, Preview, all native and third party programs. After almost a week of not being able to work, I did a re-install, which is a time consuming process. Since then, most things are working, third party software seems to work, albeit slowly and periodically spinning for minutes on end before settling down. iPhoto seems to be working again, likewise Preview, (I haven't worked my way through everything, I admit. I realize that RAM might be part of the problem (thanks for not telling us that you need 8GB to run the **** OSX) but even with no other programs running, here is what happens with Calendar: It launches. It opens every calendar, several in duplicated form (BIrthdays and US Holidays), it freezes. It acts like it's unfrozen. I click on a calendar that I don't want to view. It freezes. After a while it stops spinning and unchecks. The calendar is still visible. Repeat this for a half dozen background calendars, each time it freezes and after a few minutes it unchecks the box, but the calendar is still visible. I click on an event, it freezes for a while, then everytime I move the cursor onto the calendar it starts spinning again. After numerous attempts, I open the info box for a calendar item, it freezes, five or ten minutes later I look at it again and it seems to be okay, then when I move the cursor over the calendar, it closes the event window ande starts spinning again. I notice that all the duplicates are there and all the calendars I closed that never really closed are now checked as being visible again. After many, many attempts and freezes, at some point a few hours into the process, it lets me type a calendar item and save it (taking maybe 20 minutes through the freezing process). I quit and restart over and again, hoping that will solve the issue. Then after two days of this, I open up the calendar, all the calendars are checked again and my recent postings are missing, edits have been undone, everything is freezing and spinning, duplicates still show, etc., etc. Then I go to icloud and make some changes there. The next time Calendar locks up, I force it to quit, reopen, everything is back to being checked, duplicated, etc., but the item I posted is now on the iMac calendar, so it did sync, but again I can't work on anything because it just goes into spin mode. Almost a week into this (I did the install last Friday, today is Wednesday and I worked on it part of the weekend) I would like to stop using mac Calendar, but what calendar should I use and how do I synchronize it all and I am heavily invested in this program since it has been my main way of tracking my schedule for many years now and my business relies on it. There is no option to reinstall calendar. There are no threads discussing this problem. I have lost almost a week of income because I've spent all my office time every day since the initial install trying to get my computer functional. I am warning everyone I know to NOT upgrade to Yosemite as it is a piece of crap. Can anyone help me figure this out before I start a Facebook page "Mac Calendar is a piece of ****?" I like the program quite a bit all the way through Mavericks but now it only works via iCloud and may or may not be deleting my schedule as I go along. Any ideas? Should I just buy a different calendar program (I need to have this on my computer I can't rely on online programs due to privacy issues.) The desktop version is a clutter of duplicates and calendars that it says are hidden, and I go back to iCloud, which won't let me copy and paste or anything and I don't like that interface but at least it (seems to) syncs with my mac but not always with my iphone, Thanks. I am really hating this experience.

    Back up all data. If you have iCloud calendars, archive them by following the instructions on this page under the heading "Downloading a calendar from iCloud.com." All you need is a web browser, not the Calendar application. Do the same with any other network calendars you have, if possible.
    Before taking each of these steps, quit (force quit if necessary) the application. After taking the step, relaunch and test. When the problem is resolved (or when you complete Step 3 without resolving it), stop and close the Library folder.
    Step 1
    Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
    from the Finder menu bar. From the folder that opens, move these items (some may not exist) to the Trash, leaving the Library folder open:
              Calendars/Calendar Cache
              Calendars/Calendar Cache-shm
              Calendars/Calendar Cache-wal
    Step 2
    Move these files from the Library folder to the Desktop (again, some may not exist):
              Containers/com.apple.CalendarAgent (and any others with a name beginning in "com.apple.Calendar")
              Containers/com.apple.iCal (and any others with a name beginning in "com.apple.iCal")
              Preferences/com.apple.CalendarAgent.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist
    If the problem is resolved, you may be able to put back some of the items you moved in this step, relaunching and testing after each one. Eventually you may find the one that caused the problem; delete it. Recreate your settings as necessary.
    If the problem still isn't solved, put back each of the items you moved in this step, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. You don't have to put back the files you moved in Step 1.
    Step 3
    Move this folder to the Desktop:
              Calendars
    Note: you're not moving the Calendars application; you're moving a folder named "Calendars". If there's no change, put the folder back where it was.
    If the problem is resolved after you move the Calendars folder, the event database is corrupt. You have these choices:
              Restore the folder from a Time Machine snapshot or other backup that predates the corruption.
              Use a third-party application such as Calendar Cleaner to try to repair the database.
    For network calendar accounts, such as iCloud, all you should need to do is re-enter them in the preferences. For subscribed calendars, you only need to re-subscribe.

  • How do I update GarageBand after upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1

    I have GarageBand on my MacBook Pro but have recently upgraded to Yosemite OS X 10.10.2. I wanted to use GarageBand but rec'd a message that there is a newer version. I didn't think I should have to pay for an upgrade in the App Store. How do I update my version of GarageBand?

    Which version of GarageBand do you currently have?
    Updates are free (when the first number of the version number stays the same), but upgrades to a major new release require a purchase (when the first part of the version number changes).  So the upgrade from GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5 to GarageBand 10.0.3 is a major upgrade, that requires a purchase.
    If you decide to upgrade, do not replace your current GarageBand version, if you are currently running GarageBand 6.0.5. Keep both versions. The new GarageBand is very different from version 6.0.5 - it is more like Logic than GarageBand. It comes with nice new features like smart drummers, but but older audio units are no longer support. If you decide to upgrade your system, keep your current GarageBand as well. Both can be used in parallel and you will need the sounds and loops from the previous version to play your older projects. This forum is full of desperate questions about how to get the previous version back, because instruments are missing or podcasts no longer supported.

  • Sorting a Collection with dynamic columns using a custom compare function for multiple columns

    I need help and ideas on how to sort a ListCollectionView.  My problem is complicated by 3 requirements-
         1. The column values contain HTML tags that needs to be removed before sorting (use custom compareFunction to strip HTML)
         2. The columns are dynamic, so dataField names are not known at compile time (need a single compareFunction for all columns)
         3. The data is used in an AdvancedDataGrid so multi-column sorting is required
    I have figured out how to solve any 2 of the 3 requirements.  However, I am having difficulties supporting all 3 requirements.
    Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

    After playing with this some more I think I've figured out a solution.  This seems to work in initial testing.  Also, there is not a need to capture the current sort column in the headerRelease event which many offered solutions suggested.  Another benefit to this solution is that keyboard initiated sorting is handled also.  Whereas the headerRelease event is only triggered by a mouse click on the column header and special handling is required if the user uses the keyboard to access the column header.
    One point that I don't understand is how ascending/decending order is determined.  Behavior seems to be different between a single SortField versus multiple SortFields.  Notice how the compareResults are handled for the different situations.  Anyone out there know why???
     private function colSortCompareFunction(obj1:Object, obj2:Object, fields:Array = null):int{
         var compareResults:int = 0;
         var newObj1:Object = new Object();
         var newObj2:Object = new Object();
          // should not be a condition that is met
         if (_dataProviderDetails.sort.fields == null)     {
              var s:Sort = new Sort();
              var f:Function = s.compareFunction;
              return f.call(null, obj1, obj2, fields);     }
         // when a single column is selected for sorting
         else if (_dataProviderDetails.sort.fields.length == 1)     {
              var firstFld:SortField = _dataProviderDetails.sort.fields[0];
              newObj1[firstFld.name] = stripHTML(obj1[firstFld.name]as String);          newObj2[firstFld.name] = stripHTML(obj2[firstFld.name]
    as String);
              compareResults = ObjectUtil.compare(newObj1[firstFld.name], newObj2[firstFld.name]);
               return compareResults;     }
         // when multiple columns are selected for sorting
         else       {
              for each (var fld:SortField in _dataProviderDetails.sort.fields)          {
                   newObj1[fld.name] = stripHTML(obj1[fld.name]
    as String);               newObj2[fld.name] = stripHTML(obj2[fld.name]
    as String);
                   compareResults = ObjectUtil.compare(newObj1[fld.name], newObj2[fld.name]);
                    if (compareResults != 0)               {
                        if (fld.descending)                    {
                             return compareResults * -1;                    }
                        else                      {
                             return compareResults;                    }
               return compareResults;     }
    Does anyone see any problems with this solution?
    NOTE:  stripHTML(String) is a simple function using regular expression to remove HTML tags.
    Thx

  • Comparing function values. Why does it fail ?

    Does anybody know why the comparison fails of two variables pointing to the very same function ?
    I'm keeping a list of function references in a sequence. At some point specific references have to be removed from the sequence. This is done by passing the function reference to a function doing this job. This won't work however as each usage of "observer.update" yields me a different reference.
    Comparing with '==' and 'FX.isSameObject' fails. Is there another way to check if these two objects are in fact equal ?
    TIA !!!
    Jan
    class Observer {
        public function update() :Void {
            println("updated");
    def observer = Observer{};
    def fVal     = observer.update;
    def fValToo  = observer.update;
    println("Comparing {fVal} and {fValToo}");
    // shouldn't at least one of the two checks succeed ???
    println("Are these the same functions ? {fVal == fValToo}");
    println("Maybe with the isSameObject  ? {FX.isSameObject(fVal, fValToo)}");

    Well... I didn't know Void was assignable. Thank you for that ! :-)
    Alas, there's a misunderstanding here : I'm comparing the references to the functions; not to their return values.
    It's not a typo when I write
    def fVal = observer.update;{code}
    Instead of
    {code:java}
    def fVal = observer.update();{code}
    The former is a reference to the +update+ function while the former is a reference to the return value of the +update+ function. The former will allow me to invoke the +update+ function by
    {code:java}
    // keep a reference to the update function
    def fVal = observer.update;
    // execute the update function
    fVal();{code}
    The question is really how to determine that two references to +a function+ are the same. Apparently every usage of +observer.update+ gives you a different object. Of which the +equals+ function unfortunately doesn't seem to work. Or maybe this by design ?

  • Trackpad not fully functioning after Yosemite upgrade

    I have a mid-2011 iMac 27".  I was running Lion and upgraded to Yosemite.  I have 12 gb of RAM and plenty of storage.
    Since the upgrade, the trackpad no longer fully functions.  It will two finger swipe up and down within a window (although even that has crashed in Firefox and the only way to get the swiping back is to close and reopen Firefox).
    No three finger swipes or pinching to get to Launchpad.  No four finger swipeups to get to Mission Control.  No side to side swiping either.
    No pinching to zoom in or out.  Nothing...just two finger up/down swipes and single/double taps for left/right mouse functionality.
    Keyboard works just fine.  I can arrow key all over the place when the trackpad crashes, but that is a pain.
    I've tried everything I've read so far.
    I've turned off  WiFi as I read in one of the threads that was a fix for someone else.
    I've removed the trackpad from Bluetooth, turned it off, shut down the Mac and after rebooting then reassociated the trackpad when the Bluetooth prompt comes up.  Nope, doesn't work either although others have said that works for them.
    I'm frustrated as I swipe all the time and would like to retrieve that functionality.  Help!
