GarageBand equivalent for Mac OS X 10.0?

As far as I can tell, GarageBand was not available for Mac OS X v.10.0.3. Is there any equivalent, or similar software for creating and mixing music available that will run on such an old version of OS X?

The oldest version (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL581) I could find is Garageband 1.1,

Mac OS X 10.2.6 or later
Mac OS X 10.2.8 or greater recommended
It looks like you never updated to a newer version of MacOS X. With MacOS X 10.2 you should still be able to run any old MacOS 9 applications in the Classic environment, if you want to save your older drivers and applications.

Does anyone know if there is a decent MS Access equivalent for Mac ... and please do not say FileMaker as it has a different interface and table management logic that I do not really understand (Is it good enough to make it worth trying to learn?)

But remember: Filemaker IS the database for Mac and it is FAR better than Access.

hi all, i was just wondering if there's a Mac equivalent for HD Tune Pro. it's a Windows app i use to check for errors on hard drives. i want to check if an externall 1TB HDD has any bad sectors on it before i use time machine to backup my work. i want something that'll check for any small error -- i don't want something that'll just do a basic scan.

DiskUtility, DiskWarrior, TechTools, Genius, etc. etc. just do a google search. Most are paid apps except DiskUtility which is already built in and can be accessed from your reinstall partition. I personally don't bother with any except DiskUtility, but do keep a copy of DiskWarrior on hand just in case.
Developers will convince you that you need all sorts of programs to check and repair most often manufactured disc ailments, but if you are one of those happy to pay, then that is your choice.

Excel is a spreadsheet, and exists in a Mac version (in fact, the Mac version predates the Windows version). Do you instead mean Microsoft Access?
If so, there's no direct equivalent, but there are a number of Mac databases, including Filemaker Pro (probably the most popular), OpenBase, MySQL, FrontBase and others. Or you can run Windows through Boot Camp or Parallels Workstation and run Access.

Unfortunately, it is only for Macs. However, there are similar programs for Windows.
If you are interested in buying a Mac, there is a new software for the Intel computers that allows Macs to run Windows XP and the Mac Software, if you have the real XP install disk. This would allow you to have garageband, and other Mac programs, while allowing you to use Windows for everything else.

Windows "Paint" equivalent for Mac?

If you've ever used Windows, you have to know about the Paint program. It's pretty easy to use and can do pretty much any basic/simple things on it. What would be the equivalent of this on a Mac. I need to do some things that I used to do on Paint, but don't know what to use.

To connect a TV that only has S-video and RCA (Composite) connections to a Mid 2007 iMac, you will need the Apple Mini-DVI to Video Adapter > http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9319G/A and of course a long enough S-video cable to reach the TV.

Flash paper equivalent for Mac?

I'm in a web page design class and we are working in CS3. We were learning about Flash in Dreamweaver and the instructor was explaining Flash Paper as a way to insert documents like articles into a web page.
I've been working on a website to post my portfolio to get a job, again, someday. I've been worrying about copyright issues and the safety of my original work. The idea of posting images and examples of ads in a format that can't be copied is attractive to me.
I checked into buying Flash paper only to find out it only works on PC's. I'm a Mac user, so does anyone know of a Mac-friendly equivalent?

Is GarageBand available for Mac OS X 10.5.8 (for my PowerBook G4 based on processor PowerPC G4)?

When it starting installation it always says that you should at first has it in Applications.
What can I do with it?

The current version of GB (and the previous one too, I think) requires an Intel processor. You'll probably get a version of GB 08 cheaply on Ebay or elswhere on the net. It might be a little sluggisch on your computer.

Where is Ducking in GarageBand 10 for Mac?

I downloaded the new GarageBand (10.0.0). The Ducking command is gone. Does anyone know where it is hidden? Or is Ducking gone completely?

It is just the command that is gone, and now I can't disable it. Very nasty.
Did you open a GarageBand 6 project with ducking applied in GarageBand 10.0? Yes, that is messy. The ducking seems to be burned in and cannot be toggled on and off.

Paragon Partition Manager Equivalent for Mac???

Being very new to Mac OSX I would like to know if there is a way of backing up the total contents of one partition to another or external drive? I have migrated from a Windows platform were Paragon Partition Manager was used to quickly restore a partition to an original state in around 10mins which was very useful if a problem arose and you needed a quick turn around. The backup of the partition was compressed as well keeping the size down a bit. Currently Paragon do not seem to have a Mac version of the Partition Manager but is there anything out there that will do the trick?

Hi again,
when you create the back-up with CCC there is a choice to "Create bootable copy".
When you're done, you should try it & start from that ext. HD macOS to see that it actually is a Bootable Mac OS.
Then when you need it you'll start from the Install DVD, select a Disk Utilities from top pulldown menu (after the language choice) and you should be able to choose the 'Restore' button & you'll get a choice to choose the place you want to 'Restore' from and the target place where you want to restore it.
After that you just make your tea and wait - shouldn't take more than 30 ~ 45 minutes...

Not on a regular basis which isn't handled by the system. Repairing permissions should only be done to help resolve an existing issue and not before and after installing software.

You can use one account with iTunes on your Mac, and different account(s) with the Mac App Store (for buying/downloads apps or OS updates for your Mac), iCloud (System Preferences > iCloud) and Messages (Messages > Preferences, or command-comma)

It's scary to move my precious music files!

The process is as simple as just copying your Garageband project to the external drive and deleting from the macs hard drive. But before you delete anything you really need to back them up to someplace else also. Having just one copy is not safe. Get another external drive, DVDs or even flash drives, you absolutely need anything important in more then one place.
