Garageband error

I am unable to install updates because I get an garageband error at the end of installation.  Also when I plug my IPhone up, my Macbook does not recognize it.  I am also unable to update itunes, and my iphone does not show and itunes.  I do not think it is the Iphone because I plugged my Iphone to my niece Macbook and it recognized my phone and updated.  If anyone has any advice please help.
Thanks

Open GB's prefs and under the Audio/MIDI tab select "Built In" for both the Input and Output PopUp Menus.

  • GarageBand: Error while trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI.

This error recently started popping up for me while using garageband.
GarageBand: Error while trying to synchronize Audio and Midi
    Sample rate xxxxxx recognized
Check conflict between garageband and external device
When I use garageband, my input and output are usually set to my scarlett 2i2 interface and I've never received the synchronizing error before today.  I am not using any Midi.
I've checked the Audio Midi Setup tool to make sure that my format is at 44100.0Hz and have set the "sound" in system preferences to use my scarlett 2i2 interface for input and built-in system for output.
Can anyone help me out with why i'm receiving this error?

Good grief!  I'm on a Mac OS X and was having this same problem.  All these discussions about so much technical jargon just had me exhausted ... not only did I not understand what was being referred to, but I couldn't imagine how to do what was being said.
    Here's what got me straight:
    1.  Go to System Preferences and click on Sound
    2.  Click on Input and select your USB mic (or whatever you're using)
    3.  Click on Output and select Internal Speakers
Done.  No more problem with Garageband!

  • GarageBand error after data transfer that states "This song requires a newer version of GarageBand. Please update to the latest version of GarageBand before opening this song". Please Help!

I recently had a data transfer from my older mac to my newer one. After the transfer I logged into my new account and opened up my GarageBand. It worked perfectly fine, however when I logged into my old account with all my older data that I just transferred over, I could not open my GarageBand files and there is an error that states "GarageBand error after data transfer that states "This song requires a newer version of GarageBand. Please update to the latest version of GarageBand before opening this song".If anyone could please help me with this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank You!

When you transferred your data from your old mac, you may have accidentally transferred an older GarageBand version and either overwritten your newer version, or your old account still has the old GarageBand icon in the Dock.
Search with SpotLight, if you have more than one Garageband version on your new Mac (type "GarageBand" into the SpotLight search field). Does it list more than one GarageBand version? Then delete the older GarageBand.app.
What GarageBand version have you been using at your old mac, and what is the version on your new mac? If it has been bought recently, it should have come with GarageBand '11.

  • GarageBand Error -10010

I hardly use my MacBook Pro, though it does have all my main apps on it. I used it to record vocals singing over music played by another computer before with no problem, but today when I tried recording and playing back, the error kept popping up to say my MBP is too slow and asked me to check out Apple's Help to optimizing GarageBand. All the suggested methods + googled methods didn't work, so I deleted and reinstalled GarageBand. It STILL had the same problem, except now it added the Error code 10010 or something like that. If I exported it to listen to it via iTunes, I could play it back fully (unlike in GB), but there was a "compressing" **** noise throughout the whole track.
I am recording onto my INTERNAL DISK not using any extra disks. Tried all methods since 2009 articles (same problems for them...) but to no avail.
My MBP is OSX 10.9, 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7, 16GB MHz DDR3.
What is the problem and how could I solve it? I've deleted A LOT of stuff on my computer and emptied the trash, and the same problems still occur.
    Thanks in advance!

i having the same problem too.. this had impacted my whole working environment after upgraded into OSX. Typing also choppy, video playback also choppy.. i don't see anything good on this OSX so far on my MBP mid 2012. sad sad sad

  • Garageband error message 8 bit

Garageband had been doing well for us, until the other day when sharing to ITunes, an error message saying, 'unsupported file type, files found at 8 bit...', and i've tried everything to change the file types even online, to reset preferences, including the 'audio midi' and so on.  Still it says that this song, which had previously been successfully uploaded to ITunes, etc., and which we're now re-mixing, will not let us do anything as far as saving or changing to 16 bits and so on. What is going on, please? How may we fix it?   Thanks!
basically: how can i send the song to itunes where it can be converted to an mp3, since the error message occurs 'wrong file type ..8 bit' when i try to send the newly edited song to itunes.
i have, which is not on the list, a macbook pro 10.5.8 and garageband 08 4.1.2

Some of my aif files are not recognized by any player for some reason. All I did was transfer to an external then back to my new hard drive after it was installed. Does anybody know what could happen to an aif file to not make it open?
Do your files have the extension showing? If not, you could experiment adding extensions like .aif, .aiff and see if that makes a difference, and also slide the files directly onto the Quicktime icon, forcing Quicktime to open it if it possibly can.
I was curious about this so I checked it out. The Wikipedia page lists a few issues that could cause problems:

Other than that, the only thing I can think of is file corruption.

  • Garageband error: 'out of memory'

i keep getting this error when i open a file, use a file, basically when im using garageband. every single time. i checked on another question where i found a temporary solution. something about changing the input/output of sound, which fixed it for a couple of days. then i kept googling and found that my 4GB RAM wasnt enough to support the capacity of work I was doing. so i then upgraded to 16GB of RAM which still hasnt fixed the problem. what can i do? thanks

16GB om Memory is quite a lot and should be fine unless you have big sessions of Play or Vienna Instrument loaded in your Project.
To check what is going on with your memory and how it is used, optn the utility app "Activity Monitor". It is located in the /Applications/Utilities folder.
Here you see all the apps that ar currently running and their stats regarding CPU and Memory allocation.
Also selct the "System Memory" tab at the bottom to see the overal situaion of your RAM.
Total installed RAM. See if your system sees all the 16GB
How much REAL Memory is currently used.
Check the Page Outs and the Swap space. If you are running a lot of apps (or Safari with a lot of tabs), your system will fall back on "virtual Memory" which means it outseources the storage to your (slower) drive. This is not good, especially for realtime apps
Keep that Activity Monitor window open and see how how your memory usage goes up with each instrument you load in GarageBand. Maybe there is a "bad one" that gobbles up all your memory.
Here is a screenshot of the Activity Monitor
    Hope that helps

  • Garageband error messages and it's really slow

When I try to open Garageband I get the message:
"GarageBand has detected a possible conflict between one or more third party MIDI or audio drivers."
Then I click OK a couple of times and it opens but it's super slow. This is only been since I upgraded to iLife'09. It worked fine before. PLEASE HELP!

what audio interface and MIDI keyboards and/or Controllers are connected or have been connected to your Mac?

  • Garageband - Error code -39 - any clues?

I get the message 'Error code -39 was returned by the Core Audio driver' when I try and share a song with iTunes. It occurs during the mixdown phase, and from then on only a handful of tracks play!
I have 19 tracks in all - a mix of real and software instruments. I've locked all the tracks, but there is room for more optimization.
I'd appreciate any tips on how to solve this!

a -39 is an EoF (end of File) error. the first thing i'd suggest is to unlock all tracks, then re-lock them to let them re-render

  • Garageband 11 problem

Hi! I am not familiar using Mac, so please try to understand my poor problem description. I have just made some music by Garageband and have been happy how well it works. Until now.
Recently the computer stucks to offer the "spinning wheel" on Garageband. It takes around one minute when I can't do anything.
If I try to record it will stop. The file only has one track recorded before, so that can't be a problem. Recent files that I have saved gives a following error message.
8-bit wave track found that is not supported
I found the track that causes the problem and I delete that, but when I record again it will give same message.
When the recording stops I get following messages:
    garageband error code 1 audio
    disk is too slow.
I have cleared hard drive so it should work well. I have also got more memory to computer (now 8 Gb). Only other change I have done recently is installed Native Instruments Kontakt 5. I had some problems before that but now much more.
I'd like to reinstall Garageband but I don't know how. That would be my problem solving method with PC. Is there some way I should diagnose the computer?

How do i remove the preferences? Or what are the preferences files exactly? The complete library?!
How to remove the preferences is explained in the link to the FAQ that I posted - can't you open that page correctly?
Quit GarageBand, if it is running.
Open your User Library in the Finder. It is hidden in MacOS X Lion, so use the Finder's "Go" menu:
Finder > GO    hold down the "Options" key, until the library appears in the menu, select it.
In the window that opens, open the folder "Preferences" and remove the file: com.apple.garageband.plist and com.apple.garageband.plist.lockfile
Then try again to run GarageBand and download the loops.
The preferences file stores all you user settings that you set using the "Preferences" panel in GarageBand, also the layout of the GarageBand window and the location of your recent projects. You will have to enter these settings again after removing the file.

  • Error reading/writing file message when opening garageband and/or files

I've been recently getting this message when I open garageband and files
    "Error reading/writing file\U201Ccom.apple.garageband.cs\U201D
I've been in and repaired disk permissions and all that it says it is all fine, reinstall garageband and message still comes up, weird.
not only is garageband being a nuisance, Mac OS X 10.6.2 is being a pain when shutting down telling me to restart the computer. This only happened since upgrading to 10.6. No one as yet knows this promble so I'm gonna have to ring apple and see what is going on here.
and also my other problem is that mac doesn't seem as snappy anymore I noticed this before upgrading to 10.6 and made no difference when "cleanly" installing 10.6. I get a colour wheel popping up and i'm having to wait with simple tasks. iMac only 2 years old.

i give up with this discussion forum no no one knows anything

  • Error message on file created in garageband

I tried to open a file recorded in garageband and got an error message that said, "The file couldn’t be opened because it isn’t in the correct format. The file might be corrupted, truncated, or in an unexpected format."
I need to listen to this file today for a class (it was an interview with someone that i did for a project and i cannot re-do the interview), but it won't open.  The file extension still says .band so I don't know what the problem is.  I did earlier accidentally try and open it using itunes, but it doesn't show that it changed anything in the file.
How do I access this file?

how would I do this?  When I look at the package contents, the only thing in there is a folder called "output" which contains a file called "Output.aif"
I don't understand how this happened, all i did was try to open the file in the wrong program on accident.  I really need this for a class and will pretty much be screwed if I can't get it.  Is there anywhere else where I could just find the sound file?  I didn't even do anything fancy with it, just recorded and saved

  • Error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI.  Sample rate 42804 recognized.  Check conflict between Garageband and external device.

Sometimes, while playing back my software instrument songs, I get an intermittent pop-up error message, saying "Error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI.  Sample rate 42804 recognized.  Check conflict between Garageband and external device."
(Sometimes the five digit number is different, but remains a five-digit number beginning with "4".)
Simultaneously, the song stops until I press the "Okay" button in the pop-up window.
When I continue to play the song, the sound is jerky and clipped, and the playhead doesn't keep up with the song, and then suddenly jumps to the part of the song currently being played.
There's also a sound of static.
The issue seems to occur whether or not I have my MIDI controller turned on and plugged into my desktop Imac.

  • Error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI in GarageBand (Not using MIDI!)

I get this error message if I try to use any other programs while playing back two tracks in GarageBand. It seems to be related to the level of activity in the other programs (namely, Safari)--if it's trying to load a lot of images or I'm scrolling through a lot of content, the playback gets distorted and this error message pops up.
This is audio recorded from Skype using Call Recorder. The microphone is a Blue Snowball. I do not have any MIDI devices.
This didn't used to happen, so I'm not sure what changed. It seems strange that the 3.1 GHz processor and12 GB of RAM on my iMac can't handle playing back audio and browsing the web simulatenously, but maybe that is the case. The audio files are uncompressed, so perhaps that has something to do with it.
I realize there are a lot of other threads about this, but most have to do with Logic and/or they're recording directly in GarageBand.
