Garageband Freezes on Install V10.0.0

Garageband keeps freezing while installing. Also tops out all my cores while trying to "install". I have left it to do its thing for 10 hours already but no progress. I have tried deleting the app and its library folders and re-installing from the App Store. Yet it still freezes on the install. If any one can help that would be great.

Set the permissions for Everyone in the folder in which CCPackager created, to "Read/Write" enabled. This is strange since there is only an administrator account on the Mac (and that account already has read/write), but it seems to resolve the issue.

  • Garageband freezes when opening new Amp Collections

I'm using Garageband 10.0.3 on a late 2009 iMac running the latest version of Yosemite. I also installed the expanded library and extra features.
The issue I'm having is when trying to open a new project with "Amp Collections." I wanted to try using the amp modeling and effects features with my guitar ran through the Zoom R16 DAW. Whenever I try to open a new project with the Amp Collections, Garageband freezes and will not open or quit. I have to force quit the app each time. After clicking "choose" my menu bar appears translucent, and then nothing happens. That's it. I can open all of my saved projects fine, and even start other new projects. The only one that doesn't work is the Amp Collections. Anyone have any idea what the deal is?
I have tried opening Amp Collections with the Zoom connected and not connected. It has been functioning fine, so I don't think that has anything to do with the issue. If it matters, I also have 16Gb of RAM installed with over 400Gb free on my hard drive. Shouldn't be any memory or performance issues with the computer. Garageband has been great until now, but I'd really like to check out the amp modeling features.
    Thanks in advance!

On the mac that I installed Logic 8 on, it installed the Apple loops in (on the system level, not user level):
Library > Audio > Apple Loops > Apple
Do you have anything in this location or is it empty?
I also noticed that when you install regular Jam Packs (not through Logic 8), it will install most to the location listed above, and the rest to:
Library > Application Support > GarageBand > Apple Loops.
While the inconsistency is odd, the fact that most independent Jam Packs ordinarily used by GB 08 install in the universal location under Library > Audio > Apple Loops > Apple, similar to Logic's default Jam Pack location, means that GB should be able to see these.
When you install Logic, I believe it gives you a choice of where you want to install content (since some people prefer to install content on external drives). In other words, it's variable. Perhaps your installation sent the loops to the wrong location?

  • I am trying to open a garageband file that my friend sent me, but she has a newer macbook pro than I do, so I can't open the file because it says I need to update garageband.  I installed the updates but it still won't let me open it. How do I fix it?

The newest version of garageband can't be downloaded on my computer because my operating system isn't new enough, but I can't find a link to download a newer version of garageband than the one I currently have (garageband '09 version 5.1).

What is the GarageBand version that your friend is using?
If it is GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5, you can buy GarageBand '11 as a boxed retail version with the iLIfe '11 bundle, e.g. from Amazon.
Then you can upgrade GarageBand '11 to 6.0.5, using this upgrader from the Support page:
                     GarageBand 6.0.5
GarageBand 6.0.5 will work well with your system.  But if your friend is using the newest GarageBand 10, this will not help. Then ask your friend to send you audio files for each track, so you can recreate the project from the audio.  Or your friend could also use GarageBand '11 for the projects you want to share, that will run well in all newer MacOS X versions, even with GarageBand 10.0 installed on the same system.

  • Help! Lightroom freezes after installing.

I get this message after trying to create or open a catalog: "An error occured when attemting to change modules." Then Lightroom freezes.
I work on a Mac and have formatted and reinstalled my systemdisk with a qlean install. I had Lightroom installed and have used it for some years. But when installing the programs again I went for the Creative Cloud solution. When I tried to open my previous catalog I got this error message. And after several deinstallings and reinstallings I still get the same message and Lightroom freezes.
    Anyone who can help?

    Hi Ian.
Thank you for answering. But I find no such file in Preferences. I think Lightroom freezes before making the preference file. Other solutions?
    Best wishes,
    Magne

  • No sound in garageband after Lion install.

No sound in garageband after Lion install, can anybody help please?

12 hours ago my midi played through Garageband with no problems. Today it does not play. The Garageband window shows that the keys are being played.
In the moments following I turned on iTunes and all was fine so I burned a disc in my usual factory installed burner, late 2008 iMac, and the message was "no disc burner found". I turned iTunes on and off and same message. Ran Disc Utility and no flags. I am using the Disc Utility that is on my desktop. Is there a hidden Lion disc utility? Nothing worked unless there is a hidden function.
I was able to burn using Toast. This would indicate that the problems is with iTunes 10, OS 10.7.1

  • WHAT CAUSES FOR AN APPLICATION TO FREEZE DURING INSTALL?

What causes for an application to freeze during install?  and how do I fix it

helloWorld pretty much said it all.
When I'm looking for problems like that nothing beats a good trace file. Also don't dismiss the idea of programmer stupidity (of the one that developed the app), I've ran across code where exceptions where caught and nothing done about it, just let thing run merrily along again. The cause is usually farther back in the trace than the point it hangs or appears to start having problems.

  • MAIL FREEZING SINCE INSTALLING YOSEMITE ON MACBOOK PRO 2011

Problems with mail program freezing since installing Yosemite on MacBook Pro 2011

When Mail freezes, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • [solved] makepkg freeze after installing dependencies

If I try to create a package from the AUR
    makepkg -sfi package-name
seems to freeze after installing the dependencies. It just stops after installing the last dependency and freezes with 65% CPU-Usage.
If I quit makepkg after freeze and run it again, building the package works so the dependencies get correctly installed.
    Note to AUR-Helpers:
    Yaourt -> works
    Packer -> works
    pacaur -> doesn't work
Any Idea what could cause this Problem and how to fix it?

Soooo I've found the guilty after digging through the source of "makepkg"
    source /etc/profile &>/dev/null
causes the problem, if I run this command it freezes, Ctrl+C will kill the whole terminal.
So now I know the source of the Problem, still trying to figure out why this happens...
EDIT: Found it I'm using tdm as login-manager, to start it I've put a script into /etc/profile.d/ and this Script gave back an Error "Invalid TTY".
If you source /etc/profile it can't complete due to this Error.
So it was completely my fault
Thank's for your help, now I have to find another way of starting TDM
    EDIT2:
just put /usr/bin/tdm into ~/.bash_profile and tdm works fine.
Actually this is already in the wiki, don't know why I didn't do that in the first place

  • Freeze while installing Photoshop CS 5

I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to install Photoshop Extended on my MacBook. Things to consider:
Yes, I have the Java runtime installed
I've had photoshop in the past, including the trial for CS5. However, I uninstalled them weeks before trying to install the retail copy
I suspect that it's having trouble writing files. It will often freeze while installing fonts, or when installing the actual application for Photoshop.
The installer used to quit, but after I cleared a number of system adobe files, it will not quit, and the instalation process will go further. However, between 50% and 80%, the installer will lock up, and my Mac will lock up, forcing me to shut down by holding the power button.
Has anyone else had similar issues installing photoshop in Mac OS (Specifically Lion)?
    Thanks!

  • IPhone freezing when installing or uninstalling application during sync

    hi,
I've been running to issues with iPhone freezing during install and uninstalling of Applications during iTunes sync. The installation or remove seems to complete after I force reboot iPhone, but sort of troublesome as I'm having to reboot iPhone for every app I try to install or remove. Also, when trying to install or remove application from iPhone's appstore, iPhone gets very unstable and the installation or remove of application never completes.
Is anyone running into this issue? Any workaround (maybe I need to use Mac instead of windows xp ... ?)

I think finally figured out the problem...
This was due to one of the application I had (purchased) installed called "Wisdom dictionary".
This has been taken off of iTunes already but apparently this application was causing other application to not install. The application is about 120 megs, and the company is currently investigating some memory issue related to expanding the installer. It appears to be Apple issue, they are in contact with Apple, but apparently there is no info from Apple when the issue would be addressed....
Anyway, without this application, my iPhone so far has been working pretty well.
It may be possible other large apps may have similar issues.... not sure.

  • Can't install my app on IPAD (freeze at "installing")

    Hi all,
I've created an AS3 app with Adobe Flash CC. I'm using AIR 3.9.
It works great on android devices but when I've created an .ipa file and transfer it to my Ipad (with IO7), my app is visible but freeze on "installing" (nothing's happening.)
Do you know what could be the problem ?
Thank you very much for your answers,
EDIT : I'm using the ALPACA Source engine (Infos here)

I've seen many people get stuck on this and most came back after they went to Apple provisioning and re-created the apps credentials (mobileprovision, app id and required toggles, even worst case their actual distribution cert). After that the app installs fine.
I'd recommend starting with the simple, regenerate the mobileprovision and try again. Make sure it matches the type of cert you want, distribution or development. If it uses services like APNS then make sure the app ID is not a wildcard. Etc..
If that doesn't work, consider your other certs (APNS if used, etc), distribution/development cert..
