Garageband ipad

Rely disappointed garageband for Ipad 4 piano play is choppy and does not always react as it should.
Conclusion almost useless unless you got hours to play a song......

Gargeband needs to be updated to accept projects from the app

how transfer file from garageband mac to garageband iPad?

    In answer to the question:
how transfer file from garageband mac to garageband iPad?
Transfering a file from Garageband on the Mac to Garageband in the iPad is not just a case of putting it in iTunes as a number of people seem to state.  The XML package which is the Garageband Song File has to be changed before a Garageband Mac file will be downloadable to the iPad.  This can be done manually but is time consuming and tedious.  After doing it manually a few times and making mistakes, I have created an Applescript Application to do this called:
Garageband Mac to iPad Oneshot Converter
I have made a video of the converter in use which I have post on my Youtube ' fixed1t ' pages.  This Application and the video solves the question above and shows the song file on the mac being moved and running on the iPad.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ruT-dUhh2c
There is a link on the Description of the fixed1t youtube video to enable viewers to download a trial version. The link will also allow viewers to purchase a copy once you have tried i, but you are under no obligation to purchase and the trial is completely free.  I am selling it for £5 UK and I will receive over £4 of this should you decide to purchase using the PayPal link.
Please try it out and give me feedback, even if you don't wish to buy it.

  • Using USB Microphone With GarageBand iPad?

Hi, I have the Samson G-Track USB Microphone and have been using it with GarageBand for iPad (with a powered USB hub) and I was wondering if there is a way to enable "Monitor" so that when I speak into the microphone I can hear myself in the headphones? I have no problem recording with the microphone, I just can't hear myself when I'm recording. There are a few switches on the actual microphone that could control this or it could all be controlled from iPad itself, just looking for anyone who could help with this matter. Thanks!

I'm having the same problem trying to monitor my turntable recording via a USB phono amp connected via a USB hub to the photo connection kit.
Have you had any help with this yet?

  • GarageBand iPad 2 Velocity Sensitivity

Not sure why, but the below discussion was deleted from the Community but it was unanswered, so I'm including the thread below in this message.
I am having the same problem, namely, the volume of drums and keyboards in GB for iPad 2 works part of the time and does not work part of the time.
As I'm tapping keys with consistent pressure, the volume of notes (or drum beats) seems to be appropriately responsive and provide the correct dynamic output but then suddenly decreases in volume so that its almost inaudible.  A few taps later, then it returns to 'correct' volume.
    Help?!

    Problem with the drums

I am having an issue were the drums often don't register a full hit. There needs to be a way to disable the volume effect for the drums. In trying to lay down a drum track for my song, I was going to start with the snare drum. Problem was about 20% of the time my hit would register as an ultra quiet hit, even thugh I hit it as hard as my previous time. Very frustration, doesn't seem to matter how hard I hit the snare, if I hit it 20 times in a row, 2 or 3 will invariably be almost nothing. With this problem being present, it is impossible for me to lay out a drum tack for my song. I have a iPad 1 and have not had any issues with it hardware wise that I know of. I don't see anyone else complaining of this issue, so not sure what the deal is. Are others able to lay down drum tracks just fine?

I would thank and compensate you, if that solved my issue, unless I an missing something it does not. Your proposed fixed seem to work great for keyboards. However changing it for the keyboard for not appear to effect the drums. There does not appear to be an equivalent control for the drum portion of the app. So while I must give you an A for effort, and C for partially on the right track, still an F for an effective solution for drum tracks, unless that is I am missing something.

...and even for the piano/keyboards, that doesn't address the problem of poor velocity detection when using the touch instruments. I think including velocity with the touch instruments is necessary for some subtlety in the way they sound...it just doesn't work very well in version 1.0.

I am happy to read that I am not the only one with this problem.
Well, it is not only the drums that I have problems with. Also the other touch instruments just seem to not react properly, often when I hit piano keys hard, they just sound quiet.
I also thought that the accelerometer might be broken, or not sensitive enough. Because when I move my iPad 2 backwards when hitting, for instanse the snaredrum, it sounds as loud as it should when hitting hard.
Might the accelerometer be the problem or is it just the software?

I love the new Garageband for IOS and the touch sensitivity is my one complaint too. I would like to be able to turn this off. To me one advantage of recording on an electronic device is you can be consistent with the volume of the snare drum on 2 and 4, etc. If I wanted imperfection I'd mic my live snare I'm confident Apple will see these comments and make the change. It is a great idea that just doesn't work that great. Again the rest of the app is amazing! I plan to try the Apogee Jam for digital input soon!

Knowing the developers started with a touch screen not lending itself to this use, I am impressed that any semblance of velocity sensitivity was achieved. D like to know how they did it at all.
Hopefully, with refinement of the app, we will see steady improvement.

  • Loading a .band file back into Garageband (iPad 2)

Hi all. I am a newbie. Forgive me if this question is ridiculous, and forgive me if it's been asked 1000 times. Basically, I'm trying to collaborate with some old school buddies through Garageband. I only have it on Ipad 2, they have it on their macs. I do not have a mac (terrible, I know). We're all working from a Dropbox account. I put a file of a guitar track into said Dropbox. They've already done work on the file and dropped it back into the box. Now, I'm able to get the new .band folder back into itunes through my pac, via ifunbox. However, when I pull up Garageband on the Ipad 2 and click the + sign and select itunes, it doesn't show up. If I select a song I have on my Garageband, I can see the folder through Apple Loops, but it isn't accessible. I can just see the title, and it's in grey, not in bold black. So, is it not possible to get this back onto the iPad 2 by pc through iTunes? Will it ever be? Better yet, if I had a mac, would this be doable? I realize this is worded terribly, but any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
I've just tested this workaround again. It should work like this:
    Export
Create a song in GarageBand on an iOS device.
From the My Songs screen tap Edit, select the song to export, tap the sharing icon, Share Song Via iTunes as GarageBand format.
Connect the device to iTunes, go to the Apps tab, File Sharing area, highlight the song folder and click Save As..., then chose a folder to save it in.
This folder can then be shared for others to work on.
    Import
    Connect device to iFunBox.
Drag project folder into <Device>\App File Sharing\GarageBand.
On the device go to the GarageBand > My Songs view, tap the + icon, then Copy From iTunes. The imported project should be there.
If GarageBand for iOS doesn't see or want to import the edited project then my guess is that something about the external editing process has flagged it as being incompatible. There are workarounds for converting GarageBand for OSX files into an iOS compatible form, but not having a Mac I haven't tested any of them.

  • Transfer GarageBand iPad projects to logic on mac

Is there a way of transferring iPad GarageBand projects to logic pro 9 without the use of GarageBand?
I currently have the 08' version of GarageBand as I don't use it on my mac but trying to open a project from my iPad leads to an error message stating that I need to upgrade to the latest version.
Is there a workaround for this or is upgrading the only solution?

Yes, you need to update your version of Logic to 9.14 and above (the latest is 9.15)

  • Transferring Garageband Ipad to Mac

I am trying to load a Garageband project from my ipad into my Mac, but the Mac doesn't find the Garage Band project.  Anyone know why, or how to get around this?  Also, I am trying to load tracks into Garageband from iTunes so that my daughter can sing over the track.  Cab someone let me know what to do about this within Apple's ecosysytem, or do I need to go outside the wall for a programt to do this?
    Thanks.

Connect and select iPad in iTunes under DEVICES (left panel), choose Apps tab, scroll down to see the File Sharing option for GarageBand.

  • Garageband iPad midi editor doesn't display all the sounds that I used

I used a Korg nano keyboard to record some drums into Garageband using Garageband's own drums. But somehow the snaredrum that I both hear and see in the overall editor is not dislpayed in the drum midi-editor. This renders me unable to edit my snaredrum. I could, of course, just use another key and have the snare drums displayed, but I just wanted to inform Apple about this issue and hopefully they'll fix it.

  • Garageband (iPad) to iMovie?

Can anyone advise me how to send recordings made with GB on my iPad to iMovie also on the same iPad?
I don't want to use my laptop and iTunes at all in the process.
I found that I can email the song to myself and open it in iMovie but the song is only stored on that one particular movie and not reuseable in others (unless I re-mail it again).

I found this guidance which solves my problem:
In garage band, touch and hold the song you have until it jiggles.  Some output controls will appear at the top. The rectangle and arrow is the one you want. One of the choices is to move it to I movie.  You can do the whole deal without visiting your computer or iTunes.
I used the share-symbol and it opened up for dharing with iMovie. Excellent - but documentation leaves a bit to hope for.

  • Garageband (iPad) + iOS7 = Huge Keyboard Latency?

After updating to iOS7 on my iPad, latency is so bad now I cannot now play the keyboard. It was fine under 6. Is this a known problem and is there an update due? -Paul

I am surprised that "It was fine under 6". These devices are not suited for live playing anything other than holding background cords and only when you are not comping. Do not believe flashy ads that it suppose to work. The hardware is getting SLOWLY there, though.

  • 9 Suggestions for Garageband iPad

So after a short while messing around with this very fun app I have a few suggestions that would make it a whole load more viable (in my opinion of course), these are in no particular order.
    1) Import audio track.
    2) Export AIFF/WAV format.
    3) Merge audio tracks option - Just merge em down to a single track
    4) Freeze tracks (somewhat similar to above, but I'm talking the realtime effects, bake them down to a single track to allow more tracks to be handled).
    5) Social networking - I want to be able to share my tracks with mates, jam around them, have them change things, send them back to me etc. Don't force me to write the app and set up a server to allow this.
    6) Midi note editor. Sometimes I want to go into a track and just adjust that one errant note.
    7) Range & Punch - I'd like a range indicator that can be used for setting punch in/out.
    8) Sequencer - I know this sounds a bit silly, but think about it for a moment, it wouldn't be that much different from the Matrix unit in Propellerheads Reason (though personally I'd rather it was like OctaMED if anyone remembers that ld chestnut), you could use it to allow users to modify and create their own "smart instrument" patterns for e.g. smart drums or smart bass, or just sequence a track as a whole. Would be a very powerful addition.
    9) EQ Per Track - OK, I know processor intensive, but if not EQ then Lo-Pass/Hi-Pass per track if at all possible. Would be very very welcome.
Now I just hope that the right people at Apple get to see this.

  • I have an iPhone 4, an iPad 2, and a PC. Is GarageBand a worthwhile investment in my case?

    Hello folks,
I have been looking to get an app to produce and work on music when not at home. I already have a sampler/sequencer program (Reason 4) I use on my desktop PC. I would like to take my musicmaking with me. GarageBand seems to be a very popular program for the amateur Apple musician, and that's fine. As a standalone, I'd probably delve right into it. But since I already relate well to Reason, use it regularly and without effort, I have reservations about spending time and resources learning, reworking, and mastering the use of new software, even if I am able to get a few tunes out of it.
So my question is: Is there a way that I can work on songs created in GarageBand, transport the files from the program to my PC, and then somehow eventually work on them (or at least the music contained therein) in Reason? I mean, don't virtually all music programs use or export in MIDI and mp3/WAV file types?
Any input or advice is appreciated. Thanks.

You can share GarageBand songs to iTunes and transfer them from your iPad to your Computer this way. The options are to render the finished song as aac or as GarageBand projects, no direct midi export. Since your computer is a PC, you will only be able to use the aac option; there is no PC version of GarageBand to open the GarageBand project.
