Garageband Loops Still Missing!

I just got a brand new iMac. I go into Garageband and all the loops are missing! So i go to support and i follow the steps and find 501 sound clips. I import them all one by one, but still about 3/5th's of the loops are still not there. They have there names but the letters are gray and when i click it it says the loop isn't currently installed on this computer. It says to do a software update by I'm fully updated. What the heck do I do?!

most of the buttons in the loops area are still dimmed

for drums, I only see a few cymbals and kicks.

  • Most Garageband Loops are missing, but I can find them in finder.  Garageband keeps trying to download them from Software Update, but everything's up to date!  HELP!

    I open up Garageband
    I look at the loops
    Most are greyed out
I did a spotlight search, and found that they are, in fact, installed on my computer.
How can I get Garageband to see that they're installed?

  • GarageBand Loops Projects Missing

I have a MacBook Air, trying to creat some loops using GarageBand, but I couldn't find Loops projects. Thanks
My GarageBand looks different than others
Here is a image I found on Google

    Hey VectorC,
Thanks for the question. This is expected behavior, as you have a more recent version of GarageBand (you’ll notice that all of the options are different, not just Loops). Here are some screenshots from the latest version of GarageBand:

And here is how you can access Loops in the new version:

  • Garageband 10.0: Missing Old Loops?

Just upgraded to OS X Mavericks, along with the latest version of Garageband (10.0). Some old apple loops, specifically my favorite one: Moody Piano 02, are no longer available. I can still see where they were used in my old songs, but I can no longer find it in the Apple Loops Index. Please help.

    That is an interesting news
I am seeing the loop still in my library, when I type "mood" into the search field, so the loop can be added.
You said, that the loops will not stay, when you try to force the reindexing by directly dragging your "Moody electric Piano" onto the Loop browser from the Apple Loops for GarageBand folder in the Library/Audio folder?
The try a detour over your Desktop:
    Open the folder
              /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for GarageBand/
and copy the file "Moody Electric Piano 02.caf" onto your Desktop.
Rename the file to "Moody Electric Piano B 02.caf" or something.
Then drag the copy onto the Loop Browser to add it.
When I tried this, a saw the spinning wheel for a long time. The loop seemed to jump back, but in the end it appeared in the loop browser with the new name and stayed.
    Try it.

  • Problem Downloading Extra GarageBand Loops

Just bought a new iMac and ran into a problem downloading the extra greyed out loops. The issue occurred because I upgraded GarageBand through Software Update before downloading the extra files. After the upgrade Software Update no longer gives you an opportunity to download the loops even though they are still greyed out in the loops window.
The solution was a re-install of GarageBand from CD, & avoiding software update until the extra files were downloaded.

I just ran into this and managed to solve it, but it was a pain.  Here's my situation:
    New iMac 27 inch
Used Migration Assistant to transfer all user accounts, user files, and applications off of an older (late 2006) iMac that had been upgraded to Snow Leopard and iLife '09
When trying to install the full set of Apple Loops and Software Instruments, I got the infamous "run Software Update but nothing ever downloads" problem.  After doing a lot of looking on these boards and elsewhere, I decided to uninstall GarageBand '11 and reinstall.  Uninstalling GarageBand '11 is a pain too; here's what I did:
Deleted GarageBand from the Applications folder
    Deleted the /Library/Application Support/GarageBand folder
Deleted the /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for GarageBand folder
Deleted anything related to GarageBand in /Library/Receipts
And everything in ~/Library/Application Support/GarageBand (this is optional I think)
I then reinstalled GarageBand from the second install disk that came with my new computer, fired up GarageBand, and downloaded the recommended update.  Finally, I opened up a new Loops project; in the Loops Browser, selected one of the missing loops; got the "run Software Update now or later" dialog, and said "Later"; quit GarageBand.  Finally, I opened Software Update, and lo and behold! the near-mythical GarageBand Loops and SW Instruments update was there, all 1.2 GB of it!
I wish that Apple would come out with a patch for this, but in the meantime, if you're situation is similar to mine (upgraded GarageBand '11), you might try the deinstall / reinstall route and see if it works...

  • Still missing content after 9.1.6 "upgrade" and content re-installs

I updated to 9.1.6 and immediately I noticed that various .aif files were missing, from my ESX24 instruments and Garageband loops.
After reading other peoples' similar stories and solutions here, I spent some hours (and probably $$ for all the bandwidth) downloading and re-installing "Garageband content" (which showed needed updating) as well as the "Essential" and "Additional" Logic content packages (which were supposedly already installed).
After downloading about 7GB of stuff, I am still missing content, .aif files which are part of ESX24 instruments and Garageband loops.
I guess I'll continue downloading and re-installing the rest of the Jam Pack content -- about another 10GB -- and hope that I get that stuff back. No guarantees though, I suppose.
Apple, this happened to me once before, when I upgraded from Logic Studio 8 to 9. It's really, really maddening.

You'll need to either manually copy over the old content, or download the media packs after you install the 9.0 version.  In the Application menu, select "Download additional content...".  However, do NOT click the "Select All Uninstalled" and instead download each part separately.  A bit of added work, but selecting "Select all uninstalled"is giving people fits in that you end up with a lot of "Download Failed" messages and nothing installs.
    HTH,
    Tim

  • What's the trick?  Can't delete loops from Garageband loop browser.

Am I missing something? I've tried to delete 3rd party loops directly from the Garageband loop browser, but could not. It wouldn't work in Garageband 08, and it won't work in '09.
These loops were all added to the library by drag and drop into the loops browser.
Is there something I need to do with file permissions?

I think you can only delete loops from the browser that you created yourself with GB.
Just delete the loops in the Finder and re-index everything.

  • Installed Jam Pack but see no new loops in Garageband loop browser. Why not?

I successfully installed Jam Pack but don't see new loops in Garageband loop browser. Is there some extra step I'm supposed to do? Before, I had about 57 Rock/Blues loops, and I still have just that. I had 14 instruments under All Drums, and guess what? Still only 14.
I know the install completed successfully - it said so, anyway.
    Clues?

Have you filters set on the Loop Browser?  Make sure the GarageBand Preference "Loops > Keyword Browsing > Filter for more relevant content" is off.  Otherwise you will  see a fraction of the available loops.
To see, if the JamPack has been installed, set the pop-up meu at the top of the Loop Browser to "Rhythm Section". Is that available?
Did you reindex your Loops after installing the Jam Pack? And did you restart the Mac? In Mt. Lion only restarting a Mac will ensure, that an application is not resumed from a cache, when you launch it again.Restarting the Mac will terminate GarageBand for sure.
If restarting the Mac does not make the JamPack Loops show, rebuild the Loop index.  See:  Rebuilding the Loop Index in GarageBand 6 or earlier - Apple Support

  • Softwareupdate doenst load garageband loops

Hello, when i try to download the missing Garageband loops, the appstore update opens and nothing happens. Can someone help me please ?

Have you moved the GarageBand application from the Applications folder or renamed it?  If yes, put it back into Applications, not into a subfolder.
Also, make sure you are using an administrator account, and disable all firewalls and antivirus software.
Sign into the App Store with the Apple ID you used to set up your Mac originally.
Reload the Software Update Pane in the AppStore using by pressing the  ⌘R keys.

  • After updating to Firefox 9.0.1 on Mac OSX 10.6.8, Trusteer Rapport for banking has gone. I have reinstalled Rapport but is still missing. How should I do?

Hello. When I was on the internet with previous Firefox, there was Trusteer Rapport (A seurity software for UK banking: http://www.trusteer.com/) icon was still there. However after Firefox gave me an update alart to be 9.0.1 on Mac OSX 10.6.8 today and after I followed the update in this early evening, Trusteer Rapport is gone. I have re-installed the latest Trusteer Rapport and re-launched Firefox for several times, however, it is still missing. The Trusteer Rapport is a required security software to log in to the secure banking websites such as RBS, NatWest and HSBC (UK) etc and also it validates web security for Paypal and eBay by the Trusteer Rapport icon on Firefox, therefore I require. How should I do? I have none of other additional add-on/plug-in installed, because previous Firefox has crashed by a conflict of Trusteer Rapport and Nectar Yahoo Toolbar before. If it was a bug, please fix it asap please. Thank you.

Thank you for your sincere help John.
Yes it works again now after; I uninstalled Raport by Rapport utility, cleaned Rapport folders in system, re-installed the latest Rapport, activated at system preference, re-stated computer and then re-launched Firefox 9.0.1!
Thank you again for your help, now it is solved .#)

I went to the Apple store to have iLife 09 installed onto my computer, but when I opened up Garage Band, almost all of the loops were missing. How do I go about getting them back?

they are greyed out, and when i click on them, it says install the update. but when i did that, there was no update to be had. plus, this is the 09 version, where as my re-install disc is the 08 version.

Yes, you can use GarageBand loops for commercial purposes. Here's the Apple Doc:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2931
(Basically the only thing it excludes is to re-distribute the loops as loops.)
I don't know about the YouTube form, maybe you just fill in "Apple Loops", they certainly have come across this before.

Might have luck with that here >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer on the iTunes Store.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID that was used for the original purchases.
