Garageband quits during initializing
Hello. im new to the mac world so hello to everyone. i just bought my macbook on new years eve just gone. its running os 10.5.6 . i was using garageband yesterday and it was working perfectly. i closed it and tried to install protools. what i didnt know at the time is the protools 7.3.1 doesnt work on os 10.5.6 . so after it not working i tried to open garageband and it initialized and froze! it said
the application garageband quit unexpectedly
mac os x and other applications are not affected
click relaunch to launch the application again. click report to see more details or send a report to apple.
ive sent a report and when i relaunch it says the same thing.

if anyone can figure that out fair play to ya.
so heres what ive tried so far.
i removed everything i installed with protools.
ive deleted garageband and reinstalled it.
ive searched garageband for the 2 files ending in .plist and .cs and removed them
i set up another account and tried to open it in there but same problem occurs
ive repaired permissions
another site said to delete other files to do with an installed program i found them and deleted them too.
i cant find any other things to try out so im really stuck here
please help

IDVD Quitting During/After Initial Burning
I'm am having random problems burning projects. I just successfully burned a project that had only 1 menu and 1 QT movie w/o chapters (20 minutes long) but iDVD quit immediately after. A real pain as i need to make multiple copies and now have to wait for asset encoding again.
I also have been having trouble burning other projects that have 2-3 menus, a short QT movie in the menu and a 40 minute QT movie with chapters as the main movie. These projects keep quitting during the burn and nothing is getting on the dvd.

iMac G4 Mac OS X (10.4.3)Ok, so now i've tried quitting all other programs and rebooting before burning a dvd. iDVD is still quitting after successfully burning a project. I need to burn more than one disk though and don't want to wait for the encoding again.

Garageband Quits Every Time I Change Audio Input/Output
Hi. I own a Plantronics headset that came with MacSpeech Dictate when I bought that software a few years ago. It shows up on my Mac as a C-Media USB Audio device.
I'm trying to use it with Garageband. So, in Garageband, I've gone into Preferences and the Audio/MIDI section.
When I choose the C-Media USB Audo device as either "Audio Input" or "Audio Output" (I want to use the headset for both), Garageband asks if I want to "Change audio driver" and I then click yes. Then Garageband has a status bar saying "Initializing audio driver." Then, before it finishes initializing, Garageband quits. This happens every single time.
So, I'm not sure what to do. I don't even understand why Garageband is looking for a driver when my headset is a USB device that works with all programs -- it's not a MIDI keyboard.
Sometimes, after I restart Garagband after the quit, I see that it has changed the device. But this happens more frequently for the Audio Output Device. For instance, the C-Media device is now selected for Audio Output. But I keep selecting it for Audio Input as well and Garageband keeps quitting and when I restart it, the Audio Input device hasn't changed and still says Built-in Microphone.
I can't imagine I'm the only one who's had this problem. If anyone knows the solution, I'd appreciate it.

MThanks for the reply. it got me halfway there. Now it will open for the audio side, but still crashes as soon as I switch to Midi.
There were no Midi configs in my library, but there's a folder full of them in the main Library. Most of the files in there I don't care about, but there are several that I don't want to lose. Should i trash the folder and then re-install the ones I want? -
How to use more than one application server during initial load?

we plan to use more than one application server in CRM during initial download in order to increase the number of parallel requests and to decrease the time for the initial load. Is there a way to allocate requests to more than one server? Is is possible via multiple rfc connections for consumer CRM in CRMRFCPAR?

New iPod Touch stuck in recovery mode during initial setup
I am trying to set-up my daughter's new iPod touch 5th Gen. When you try to connect to iTunes message says "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes". Even when you disconnect from computer it is stuck on screen telling you to connect USB to computer. Two of her friends also got this iPod for Christmas and are having the same problem...during initial set-up. I've tried the system updates 3 times. iTunes recognizes the device, but the computer is not recognizing it as a drive. I've tried both my Mac and my Windows PC. I've tried hard resets. You can't remap the drive because the device doesn't show up. Most of the apple support topics address if iTunes doesn't recognize the device in conjunction with it not being recognized by the drive. Obviously a problem with the new update because several brand new iPod touches wouldn't be having the same problem. Please help if you've found a solution. Happy New Years!

I recently upgraded to Leopard and have had problems burning through idvd ever since. Idvd keeps quitting during the processing movie stage. I have tried repairing permissions and deleting the preference file with no success and have ensured I have 25 gb of free space. Any further suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated as I have run out of ideas now and getting very frustrated.

I was saving a document when it originally quit. so "locked" file appeared in directory as well as reg file.
Upon restart of InDesign, recovery failed and software quit again.
Restarted computer, then indesign, file opens but as soon as I select "recover" it sends a message that indesign needs to close.

System is not allowing us to change the limit values of the Planned orders in MD91 and showing the Message no. NR651.
We have also searched for the available threads in SCN and other sites, but didn't find the root cuase link for this error.

InDesign 2.x Unexpectedly Quits During Startup
I've seen postings for this and similar problems going back several years. Have tried the various fixes. None seem to work.
I've got InDesign 2.02 installed on a Mac PowerBook G4 running Mac OS X v10.4.11. It's a small screen, 1GHz model with 768 MBytes RAM. I usually work hooked into a 1600 x 1200 pixel monitor.
Last year I had problems with InDesign quitting when I tried to save a file being worked on. It was a pain, but I remember somehow working around the problem. Maybe exported file. Don't recall what the work around was.
I just recently tried using InDesign again. Similar to some other postings, when InDesign is started up, it quits during the splash screen statement "Executing startup services ...".
Is anyone still having this problem or know of a solution?:-(Hmm... Maybe it's the same issue that affected CS/CS2: they started crashing after installing Acrobat 8.2 or 8.2.1.

A while ago, the fix was to restore some stuff in the 'Application Support' folder (Acrobat was mucking something up in a shared area, and that caused InDesign CS/CS2 to crash on startup), but apparently, there is now an Acrobat 8.2.2 to fix the issue. If you have Acrobat 8.2 or 8.2.1, it could be the same issue. -
Since I joined creative cloud, I have not been able to sync. Why the difference? Worked good during initial trial.
Also I had installed the Mosaic app for ipad before Lightroom mobile came out and I cannot seem to get rid of it. How can I get mosaic out? I have cancelled, I have deleted, I have looked through the files for visible remnants.The sync count is 60 and static. The total number synced so far is 500+. None have been synced from the ipad except for corrections made there on those already synced.
I have deleted the Mosaic app from all machines and checked the library folder and have contacted the Mosaic tech support and they have discontinued my subscription. I still get mosaic messages on initiating Lightroom and sometimes at closing.
I have not tried to sync fewer yet, but some catalogs that I have tried are smaller numbers. Initially, it did well on good connections. Nothing works on my home connections over satellite. -

Try that, repairing permissions and resetting FCP prefs tho I suspect it's the drives on USB. try that first -
Logic crashes during "initializing CoreAudio" after installing OSX 10.5.1
Hi,
After installing Leopard (10.5.1) Logic Pro 8 crashes during "initializing CoreAudio". (Logic Pro 7 freezes)
On OSX 10.4 it worked great.
As far as I can see now Logic Pro is the only program with this problem.
(RAX works fine!)
Is there someone with the same issue?
Or with a sollution?

Althoug it turned out that I didn't had any digidesign Plugins it indeed was an plugin compatibillity problem.
Rewire was the one.
An update of Melodyne did the trick.

deleting the components from the folder
"Library/Application Support/Propellerhead Software/ReWire"
works as well, but of course disables the use of Rewire. -
During initial setup, I deleted the additional colored options in the Calender application. How do I get those colored options back? Thank you!!
Sounds like you have the print dialog minimised, as shown.
If you click the triangle next to the printer name, this will expand the print dialog and from this view you can see all the menu options as mentioned in the guide. -
10.4.3 INSTALLER QUIT DURING DISK 2
When installing 10.4.3 from CDs from 10.3.9, the installer would quit during disk 2 and say that there was an installer error and would then start the disk 2 install from the beginning. This cycle continued for about 3-4 revolutions. Then the install successfully completed disk 2 install and prompted for disk 3, after which everything went fine and now 10.4.3 is running perfectly.
I still have to install from the CDs onto another computer and my question, did I get lucky given that it eventually installed correctly? Or is this a warning that something is wrong with the CDs and should I have them replaced before using again? When the install quit each time, I believe that it got farther than when it quit previously.
This install was on a 1Ghz e-Mac, so I don't believe that firmware was the problem as there are no firmware updates listed (is this correct?)
iMac 800 Mhz, G4 400, eMac 1G, iBook 800 Mac OS X (10.4.3)I believe that if you purchase a Family Pak, then you are licensed for up to 5 machines regardless of whether you have the DVD or CD set.
When you do such system upgrades it's a good idea to do the following:
1. Repair the hard drive and permissions on the target system's startup volume.
2. Update any third-party software for compatibility with the new system version if needed. Otherwise, disable or remove incompatible third-party software.
3. Verify compatibility of any third-party peripherals or PCI cards. If you have incompatible hardware then upgrade it first or disconnect it.
4. Clone your current installation to a bootable Firewire external drive. If you are running Panther or Tiger you can clone the startup volume using the Restore option of Disk Utility.
5. Unless the installation requires that you boot from an installer CD or DVD, boot into safe mode before running the installer(s).
6. Never install new software if the hard drive has errors that cannot be repaired. Use utilities like Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro, or Drive Genius to repair the drives, and if they fail then reformat the drive.
Follow the above religiously and you will likely encounter few if any problems with software updates or upgrades. -
During initial install, Firefox loads on the desktop looking like a drive. It doesn't load into Applications like it is supposed to. From that point it won't let me do anything with it....
