Garageband recording also background sound

Hi. I'm new to Macbook Pro.
I was trying to use Garageband on my macbook to sing song covers. I inserted the instrumental music, and started a new track for recording my voice. Yet, the voice track was recording not only my voice but also the instrumental music played in the background.
In that way, I could hear the music in my voice track even if I muted the instumental music. When I recorded several tracks, the music volume became very unbalance.
Is there any way to turn off the function how Garageband recording all the background sound played?
Please help me with that.... The version of Garageband I'm using is 6.0.5

Trying to record audio (background sounds)

Im having the darndest luck trying to do this but here goes.....
I have a Audio Recording Software (DAW) that im trying to make a presentation on using the video capture, andeverything works just fine....but the recording is not capturing the audio from the program.
I have checked out the audio recording settings, and it only shows "mic inputs" for devices. I dont want Captivate to record inputs, but i want it to record the audio (from the soundcards output) that the recording software is playing.
Any ideas?

Assuming that you find you are simply unable to coax Captivate into recording the audio, here is a workaround. Obtain a small patch cable that connects the Speaker out jack to the Microphone in jack. Then record accordingly.

Garageband is not picking sound from builtin mic (rMBP). I recorded some tracks, now it is not working. All other apps can use the mic. Monitoring is switched ON at GB, it picks sound only some other app, eg. Skype, is used to access the mic.

All other apps can use the mic. Dictation, Skype etc. can use the mic!

I have foud the solution - rather stupid. The system setting for audio input was at 70%, increasing it to 100% solves the problem!

Mabye one of your microphones broke. Take it to the apple store they will be able to help you.

My friend and I were in voice conference using Skype, I used Goldwave to record the call but I can only hear my voice and sound in the room only. How can I record his voice as well as record the stream music that was playing on winamp?

Ipod recording background sound but not voices

whenever i record a video,only the background noises are played while my voice or anyones voice is very very low and i just upgraded to IOS 5.01 and it didnt fix the problem i opened voice memos and started tapping on the mic and the needle moved up while i screamed and it didnt move up at all. please help

No,I don't have it blocked you any sort of thing. But it once got wet 2 weeks ago and since then it wont record my voice..its weird because it can record any background noises like hitting the floor,tapping on the microphone ( voice memo) but it wont record any voice

How to get rid of warbling background sound when expoerting to MP4 ?

Hello All;
I've been having a very, very strange problem since the first day I started exporting a FCP video to MPEG-4 via. the compressor. For some bizarre reason, I always hear a warbling sound in the background when I export a video - this makes MPEG-4 creation completely unusable.
This is driving me absolutely crazy as I need to create a video for the web. Everything else worked perfectly - size was good, video was very clear, only this stupid warbling sound. I did not record live video ... I only used existing video that was in the FCP project and when I play the project in FCP, I don't hear this strange sound. Also when I export to other formats like Quicktime or even DVD (Via. the compressor) I also don't hear it.
Anyone experience any problem like this before ? And can someone help me get rid of this stange background sound ?

I think I may have solved my problem. I changed the audio sample rate to 32 KHZ and I removed the Right Audio Channel. I used a shotgun mic and it was connected to the left channel so I'm not really sure what the right channel was hearing.
However, I still think the sample rates were mismatched. It looks like the original clip's audio was set to 48 khz audio but the 48 khz audio setting of the MPEG-4 compressor setting was grayed out so I was unable to select it - Do you know why it was grayed out and is there a way to select 48 khz ? I would still like to try to set the clip to a sample rate of 48 khz in compressor when exporting to MPEG-4.
Anyway ... I'll know for sure if it's working tomorrow morning. I exported a sample clip while I did the testing but am exporting the full hour-long program overnight.

Record the actual sound of my keyboard?

I have a hammond xk3c keyboard and was wondering what the best way to record it's sound onto garageband is. If i plug it into the guitar input on my interface it doesnt sound clean, so i bought an adapter to plug it into the mic input but it still sounds fuzzy. The keyboard has midi ins and outs but ive never done anything with them. Also, i would really like the sound to be stereo because the leslie simulation sounds really awesome.

I was assuming the amp itself was part of the sound (as with the Leslie speaker used by many Hammond organ players). If the amp isn't part of the sound, or is simulated in software, which seems to be the case here, then yeah, you're right: go direct. But the poster said the sound he gets going direct isn't satisfactory, which leans toward the use of a better audio interface and/or preamp of some sort.

That says it has left and right line out (doesn't say what sort of connector, unfortunately), "MIDI In/In2/Out" (by which I can only assume they mean in/out/through?), and headphone out.
I assume those L/R outs are 1/4", though they could be XLR or RCA or, who knows what else. If hooking those up to the Mac via adapters and such doesn't yield a decent sound (ditto for doing the same with the headphone out) then I'd recommend a decent USB audio interface.
In either case, seeing as this thing could be a really nice MIDI controller (though why they didn't add a USB interface is a mystery to me), I'd say it's totally worth the cost of a MIDI interface to hook this thing up and use it as a controller for other software instruments.

Background Sound Won't Play

Hi all --
Looking to attach a background sound and play it using
ActionScript. However, it's not working. I'm trying to link it up
to a button called "soundButton" that toggles the audio. I have the
wav file in my library, have exported it for ActionScript, and
given it a linkage ID of "music."
Also, if I trace after a button click, my "soundPlaying"
value is always "false." Any ideas?

What is the best method to embed background sound?

I've tried several methods and they either simply do not work or a plugin icon is displayed...I just want to embed it invisibly , and of course effectively.

Add A Constant Background Sound.

I'm a bit of an amature when it comes to web design and especially hard coding.Im getting to grips with div tags and the css dialoge box. I able to embed a sound file on a page but would like to know how to embed a background sound which keeps playing and doesnt restart every time you select a new page. Also any advice on how to add a sound on/off button option on each page would be appriciated.

Continuously playing music/sound on HTML websites is not a simple thing to do. You have the following options, each with their own set of problems.
OPTION #1 - Embed an MP3 player on a plain vanilla page. Invoke it to open in a Pop-Up window from a link on your home page. The player will remain open while people explore other site pages or until they close the pop-up window or leave your site. NOTE: The user must initiate the pop-up page by clicking a link. If you attempt to open the pop-up automatically on page load, it will be defeated by pop-up blockers (98% of browsers).
OPTION #2 - Put your player into a frameset. NOTE: Framed sites pose many other problems as detailed below.

Picking up background sound in room

HI there,
I am trying to capture screen and sound, but the background sound in the room I am in is coming back on the recording, just wondering how I can shut off the mic for the external sound, and only record what is coming through on the screen. Desperately seeking input here. Thanks Oh I have a Toshiba Satellite using windows 7 operating system. If any of that helps.

Bouncing error while attempting to share Garageband recording.

I have just installed the new Garageband 10.0 and am running into something new (to me). I'm running Mavericks on my iMac and attempting to share a recording larger than 2 GB (export to harrd disk) and am getting the error:
Can anyone please explain the term "bounce" or direct me to a source? I've not encountered it before while working with prior versions of Garageband. Also, how do I "decrease the bounce range" or change the format to CAF (whatever that is)?

I'm getting the same issue. I have a two hour recording and need to export it and this message keeps coming up. I've searched and searched to find a topic on how to change the format to CAF or how to change the bounce range, yet there is nothing out there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Background sound is too loud

my macbook pro, early 20011, the background sound is too loud with or without headphones, i cannot hear the speech well. any ideas?

I'll be perfectly honest with you.....
On both my laptop (MSI GT70) and my desktop (MSI Z97 SLI) I have an Asus Xonar based sound card....it's just flat out better.
Personally, I don't care for the included software with the on-board sound solutions (software based creative crap is...crap...), and the sound that it makes for digital connections (COAX/optical) really isn't as good.
But again, that's just my opinion. I believe that the on-board sound should work though, and it might actually be a problem with the board. I would say at the very least, contact MSI and maybe consider an RMA to see if you can get it resolved, just so you have a fully working board to start with.
