Garageband Smart Strings Export

Hi,
I am trying to export a song from garageband, I am using "Smart Strings" on a track with a certain modulation (screen keyboard setting 6) on one track. Unfortunately when I export it, it changes the modulation back to "Off". How do I keep the modulation and export the song?

I manually type in a Smart Strings part. Wanting to change a note to pizzicato, I tap it and then tap "More..." as I have in previous versions. Instead of giving options for pizzicato, instrument change, etc. like it used to, the whole menu just disappears and I'm left looking at the MIDI roll again. I've played old songs that I made in previous versions of GarageBand and they play the notes pizzicato but the same thing occurs with the "More..." menu when I tap a note.
I've submitted a bug report, does anybody here have any ideas what's causing this or how I might fix it? If you can't tell, I like to use pizzicato a lot.

Input delay by using Smart Strings

I have noticed a slight time input delay by using the "Smart Strings". The finger inputs are not in sync with what I hear. I haven't noticed a similar behavior by using "Grand Piano" for example. Is there a reason for doing so?

How to increase sound quality of GarageBand 1.3 exports from iPhone

I'm a new iPhone user.
I bought the iPhone over Android specifically to use garageBand.
So, I've created this song in GarageBand 1.3 on my iPhone.
It's got a a couple vocal tracks (from apogee MiC) and one guitar track (from apogee JAM).
I don't own a Mac or any other iOS device.
I want to listen to the song on an external device.
I know how to export the song to email, but the thing is, the m4a that is produced is very poor quality.
Is there a setting or a method that can be used to get better quality on the export?

Instead of choosing the Mail option, choose the iTunes option to share then choose iTunes again when the "Choose Format" window comes up. Under Audio Quality, choose AIFF.
You'll have to connect your phone to a computer that has iTunes installed to access the resulting file.

Garageband does not export any modulation / velocity

When I record any of GB's virtual Instruments and using Modulations; Or at least using different velocity-settings.
The exported AAC, AIFF or MP3 does not include the modulations.
In GB everything ist fine, velocity works fine-> by editing a note: the velocity which was recorded is automatically set to default setting.
So I have to set it again.
But anyway after export the audio file does not contain the editing - velocity.
Has anyone an Idea?

Scripting for GarageBand: import; compress; export

Hi there -
I'm not sure where the best place to post this is, so forgive me if this was not the best guess. I'm doing research on language and have a workflow that involves collecting thousands of recordings of individual words:
     I record someone for half an hour;
     splice that single audio file into hundreds or thousands of single-word chunks;
     export each splice as a separate audio file;
     (would like to) use automator / script to automatically rename the resultant files with an alphanumeric prefix and numerical postfix;
     import each of these files into GarageBand (or StudioOne) individually;
     compress the file to reduce dynamic range;
     export the finalized file into a designated folder.
I have some very basic background in programming (primarily MatLab, but very basic dabbling in C), but I know nothing about scripting for Macs. In the long term, I'm interested in learning how to do this, but in the short term I'm looking at a lot of work that needs to get procssed and just need a quick fix for automating so that I don't have to (continue to) do this manually for each file!
In case it is of interest to anyone who may respond: the ultimate goal fo the process is to attain as constant a volume across all the files as possible: I record many different people, in different settings over the course of months or years and was told that compression will help standardize the playback volume. The reason for compressing each file individually is because even within a single recording session, the individual's voice may fluctuate notably as they move closer and further from the mic, or even if there is a single loud noise during recording - it would act as the reference point for compression, even though it was an anamoaly.
Finally, to clarify the questions involved here:
How can I automate the last 4 or so (or more?!) points from the above workflow? or Any suggestions where to find someone who could do this?
Alternatievely: suggestions on standardizing volume playback that does not involve the above process (NB: the standardization has to be as professional as possible, so I don't want to compromise the result for a simpler workflow).
Where can I start to learn more about scripting on the Mac so I can tackle such issues on my own, in the future?

Yes, the Keynote presentation slides/project is set for 1920x1080, the reason is I'm outputting via a high lumens projector that natively projects at 1920x1080p.
Even though a Macbook Pro does not have a screen that size, the Macbook can send out even larger than 1920x1080, but I am limiting the output to the native screen res of the projector.

Unable to hear garageband additions after exporting...

I recently imported an i-movie project into garageband in order to add a couple tracks not possible in i-movie. Upon completion and after all modifications were saved, I shared the final project with i-tunes. But when I play the project in i-tunes, all the garageband audio modifications are missing. They are saved on the garageband project, but they dont seem to share. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

No, no muted tracks. I triple checked that. I dont believe it to be a previous version of the movie that I am watching in i-tunes for the simple fact that I erased all previous versions before importing, and when I export from Garageband to i-tunes it actually creates its own new playlist with said project as the only item in that folder.
Do you think I should try to share it elsewhere to see if I have the same problem? IE, i-dvd or something?

Garageband won't export full song

I share song with iTunes, but when I play the song back in iTunes, the last 4-5 seconds aren't there. When I play the song back in Garageband the full song is there. I don't understand the difference. Please help.

The problem is that I have recorded 51 seconds of guitar and then thought wow that riff sounds good and so I looped it to 2 minutes in length.
Are you sure that not a single region is highlighted in the track area, when you are exporting?
All regions should have a dark color. Click in the track area below all tracks to seselect all regions.
When I am sharing to iTunes and really no region is selected, and the Cycle region off, GarageBand will export the song up the the end-of-song marker.

Novice with GarageBand: Can I export completed podcast as m4a file?

I thought I could create a .m4A file from GarageBand, but I can't find a way to do that.
Is it possible? How do I do that? I'm on a MacBook, OS X 10.7.5 and GarageBand 6.0.5

First of all, GarageBand is an amzing tool to record/prepare your enhanced podcast with all the artwork, chapters, etc.
You export your finished podcast the same way you would export a song.
You do that in from the Share Menu. Be careful, because the menu items are dynamic,whihc mean they change depending what is currently selected in your Project. Make sure you have the Podcast Track visible. This changes the "Send Song to iTunes..." to "Send Podcast to iTunes..."
On the next page, select Compress using AAC. That creates an .m4a file during the export.

GarageBand audio file exports

Does GarageBand allow you to set a higher sample rate on audio files? I record voice-overs, and for the most part I export audio files at 44.1 KHz. But occasionally I have clients who need me to create files at a rate of 48 Khz. If not, is there an app or program that will allow me to convert the files to different sample rates, and file types (wav, aiff, etc)?

Why does my Garageband files get exported to itunes at a low volume?

I am having problems with my garageband 08. everytime i export it to itunes, the volume goes down extremely. i have no idea why it does that. When i listen to it on garageband, it sounds fine, but when it gets exported, i have to turn my volume all the way up. Anybody know what i could be doing wrong? I even chose export at full loudness in my prefrences and nothing happens. None of my old garagebands used to do that.

Garageband crashing while exporting at the 3 hour mark.

I am exporting a podcast that is a "best of" for our episode 150. It is three hours 20 minutes long. When I try to export the MP3 GB crashes righ after the three hour mark. Any ideas?

It's right at an hour (consistently), but the computer goes to sleep prior to that. It's as if iTunes goes to sleep. Also, it wasn't always this way. Originally, the movies played through without interruption. At some point, I guess a setting was changed, and now I only get an hour. Also. My energy settings are set to go to sleep at 10 minutes.

Garageband Smart Drummer on iPad on Logic Express?

Wonder if something like the Smart Drummer on iPad, or Sonoma InstandDrummer (or even better, the drummer in Riffworks) will ever appear in Logic Express. I'm looking for an auto drummer that automatically creates fills based on a chosen style, and number of measures. Riffworks does this quite well with controls for intensity, how busy the drummer is, and ambience. This probably isn't as good as pasting together drum loops, but it sure is a lot easier and faster.

Podcast won't export from Garageband to iWeb

Hi all
Help appreciated with this. I do a two hour music podcast (www.whatyouwantradio.com also available at http://soundcloud.com/whatyouwant-radio) which is created in Garageband and then exported to iWeb for uploading to my website. I've been running this, with few problems, since April 2009.
Recently the garageband podcast won't export to iWeb. It's random, and I seem to have been able to bypass it by changing the filename slightly, or adjusting the quality at which it is exported (I like to export at 320mps for best quality - big files but no complaints from the 100 or so listeners. Could be more - who knows as I can't get stats from iTunes. But I digress). However, the most recent podcast, which is already available on Soundcloud, just won't export. It goes through the motions (mixdown etc.) but nothing appears on iWeb on the other side. No error message, nothing. I know that memory has also been an issue in the past but right now there is plenty to spare (5.37GB at last glance).
I'd really be grateful for some help on this, I'm at a bit of a loss - no error message, no clue. As I say, this podcast has been going for nearly three years and it's only recently I've had this problem.

Just a further note on this. I tried a couple more times yesterday to export the file. Starting out with over 5GB of memory, by the time I had tried twice this had gone down by a couple of GB. Still no export. This morning I noticed some new files in the trash that were from around the time of the failed exporting:
Note sure if you can see that, but I'm guessing the files are something to do with the failed export? Does anyone have any thoughts? Either way, this problem is still annoying the **** out of me...
