Garageband stops recording immediately

when I'm using Audio Kontrol 1 (external soundcard). But I haven't had this problem more than the last couple of months. I recorded with it several months before garageband started doing this. I've got the newest 17" macbook pro with i7 processor, so capacity shouldn't be a problem. At least not while recording ONE single track.
When I use the integrated mac mic or use the software instruments, it works fine. What should I do?
I've seen several posts like this, but no answer. And I need an answer, pretty please!?

Native Instruments say they'll have a fix to make their software work in Lion in September. From what I've heard it only affects them running in 64 bit mode so try Guitar Rig in 32 bit mode if you can. I've switched to Reaper like I said and I'm finding the transition quite easy. Give their demo a try...

  • GarageBand stops recording immediately when using Guitar Rig Session

When I try to record a guitar into GarageBand using my Guitar Rig Session the recording starts, then immediately stops. This happens on a new track, or on an existing track. Everything was fine before I updated GarageBand to the latest version (6.0.4) via the App Store. I also updated to OSX 10.6.8 too. I've tried recording a track in Reaper and it works fine so I doubt it's a Guitar Rig/OSX 10.6.8 issue so I'm suspecting that it's the latest GarageBand version that's to blame. This discussion was the closest thing I could find to raise a support ticket about this. I'll have to switch to Reaper for now but if it's not fixed soon, I may not come back to GarageBand!

  • GarageBand stops recording : no error given

I'm currently running GB '11, v 6.0.5, on a MacBook Pro with 4GB RAM and a 700MB HD. When recording a podcast in GB, it will randomly stop recording at some points, sometimes after 1min sometimes after 20min. It gives no error, just stops the recording... and due to the fact that I am unable to monitor it the whole time, we are unaware that it has stopped losing critical pieces in our podcasts. We are using a line-in to record. What could I do to solve this issue?
    Thanks!

  • Garageband stops recording after switching to another app?

When ever I start recording a session in Garageband - using the built in mic or an external one - and double tap (multitasking) my way to  app, iOS indicates in a red top bar that it is still recording. Actually it is not. You can see the red status bar flickering once while it stops.
I am recording in stereo, as advised by Apple.
Please tell me this is a bug! I would like to see my guitar tabs, while recording...

    Hi Ignacio,
thank you very much for the ultimate fast response and sorry for the missing information.
I am using Photoshop Touch on my iPad third generation. iOS 5.1.1
Yes it is possible to save the project. "Delete" the App from the multitaskig bar and reopen it solves the problem.
    Best regards,

  • Foot Control to Start/Stop Recording??

Does anyone know if Garageband can be remotely controlled to start and stop recording? Isn't there some sort of midi foot control pedal that allows this? If anyone has any experience with this, I'd love to hear!

The iControl is a control surface that controls many things in GarageBand. However, I don't think it could be used for a remote control for punching in/out.
I agree. We need some kind of remote start/stop "peddle" type controller. I just ordered the PowerMate from Griffin. I don't need 50' of cabling, just about 5' or so. Should be perfect for me. I dunno about setting it on the floor and stomping on it though

  • Audition 3 stops recording

Audition 3 stops recording after less than a second.  I have Dell Studio notebook, Win 7 64-bit home version that has been  reset to factory default settings, and a Echo Audiofire2 external sound device. Under the Audio Hardware Setup option, I have three options: ASIO EchoFirewire, ASIO4All, and Audition 3 Windows sound.  Windows Sound Mixer shows Echo Audiofire as default recording device.  I experience the recording stopping using the  ASIO EchoFirewire, or Audition 3 Windows Sound devices.  If I use the ASIO4All option, the recording starts and stops sporadically.  I've reinstalled Audition and tried the 3.01 patch with no change.
    Ideas?

When you say 'stops recording', what exactly happens? Does it just freeze, or does this stop manifest itself in another way? In general, if the transport controls in Audition freeze, it means that for whatever reason, the software is unable to make bi-directional contact with the sound device. If this is happening with the ASIO drivers, that rather points at the drivers themselves, because you have cut out a large quantity of the OS (which, believe me, is a good thing...). So in the absence of any other obvious reason for this, the first thing I'd do is to check with Echo and make sure that there isn't an updated driver available for the AudioFire. The only other thing that comes immediately to mind is to make damn sure that there isn't a check in the 'release ASIO driver in background' box - that will certainly stop Audition if you click away from the program!
I also have to tell you that despite many claims to the contrary, W7 64-bit is not entirely trouble-free as far as Audition is concerned, and also it's not supported - only the 32-bit version is. Also in the past, Dell have been cited over a number of audio problems relating to laptops, but we haven't heard so much about that lately.

  • When I stop recording, tracks delete themselves

They'll be red and recording, but then when I hit stop, it disappears. I'm recording multiple tracks.

Are you recording the instruments to the right kind of tracks? This problem is very typical for trying to record an audio input signal to a software instrument track. Then the recorded region will simply vanish, when you stop recording.
    What is your GarageBand version?

  • Stops recording when headphones unplugged

I recently recorded a live performance and I unplugged the headphones from the jack on my Macbook Pro and the recording stopped. I don't recall this happening previously. Any thought, ideas or experiences with this happening?

I'm recording via a line in so the internal mic was disabled. I didn't get the "detected feedback" message and it stopped recording almost immediately after unplugging the headphones.
Basically: Analog output of an A&H Zed 14 mixer into the input on the Macbook Pro. The reason I removed the headphones from the Macbook was to check the mix at the mixer.

  • Why my iPhone Voice Memos sometimes randomly stop recording

    Hello everyone,
I'm using my iPhone 6 Plus Voice Memos app to record my lecture in the university, the problem is sometimes the app stop recording and this is causing me major problem.
Note that I'm putting my iPhone on Airplain mode to avoid stopping the recording if someone called me.
The WiFi is sometimes ON while recording, but in all cases the Airplain mode is on
at the end I need to record my classes lectures for more then 60 minutes normally sometimes 160 minutes.
    Thank you.

    Hey there Al-Shatti Jr.,
If your Voice Memos are still unexpectedly not recording after some time, I would recommend quiitting the app itself first:
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • When I record an audio track, there is a waveform. When I stop recording, the waveform disappears and becomes a straight line. It also disappears from the track edit window. But the sound is there. How can I stop the waveform from disappearing?

When I record an audio track using Logic Pro X, there is a visible waveform which appears as I record. When I stop recording, the waveform disappears and becomes a straight line. It also disappears from the track edit window. But the sound is still there. How can I stop the waveform from disappearing? And can I do something to view it after it has disappeared? Anyone know the anser?

    In Logic:
    Preferences/Audio Set Recording Delay to 0 <zero>
This should always be set to zero unless a specific set of circumstances exist and you're audio drivers do not report position correctly.
On occasion, usually when importing a Logic 9 project, Logic-X randomly changes this to a negative/positive number.  It's actually a bug in Logic, as it should always display the waveform.

  • ITunes stops responding immediately after opening

My iTunes stops responding immediately after opening and even force-quit doesn't do.
Baically it freezes between pressing it and opening the window. In my large library, I can see that it loads it and then nothing more. The menu appears and then the wheel. Force quitting doesn't shut the program, no matter how I do it. It leaves the arrow and the only way is to restart the computer and start again.
I tried using another account, and it does the same. I tried with a new library. I tried with new prefs folder both on the user and on the Mac HD. I tried reinstalling iTunes. I even tried reinstalling the whole OS X - but nothing. The only thing is that after zapping PRAM it might work once or twice, but no more.
This is with iTunes 7.0.2, QuickTime 7.1.3 and OS 10.4.8
I don't know what else to do.
    Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem. It started recently - maybe about two weeks ago - and occasionally when I launch iTunes it just freezes. I can't force quit it completely - it still shows in the Dock as though it's running, though it's not present in Activity Monitor.
Curiously, I've also had a couple of kernel panics when clicking iTunes buttons in the past week. I don't recall any system update that might have affected either iTunes or QuickTime, so I'm stumped... The only way to get iTunes back is to log out or restart.

  • Why does my iPod Touch stop recording videos when it says low battery

OK I would record a long video, about 20 minutes to be approximate. In the middle of my recording, my iPod tells me my battery is low - I have 20% of battery left. But when the message shows up, it stops recording my video and shows a closed lens on the camera!!!
Then I have to force close the app then restart it. Then I have to make a second video. Is there anyway to tell the iPod Touch low battery warning to shut the f**k up and stop interrupting and stopping my recordings? It is VERY annoying. Please reply soon.

Not that I know of. The 20% warning is like the low fuel light on your car's gas tank, it doesn't know when you'll run out of gas only that it's soon. The reason it stops what your doing is to protect the battery. Completely discharging the battery is very bad for the battery and shortens the life of the battery. Hope this helps, Good luck.
