Garageband with focus rite scarlett 2i2 troubleshoot

i am attempting to record vocals over an mp3 using a focusrite 2i2 interface in garageband. i don't have monitors, but i'm plugged into the headphone mac for in-ear monitoring. i changed sound inputs and outputs to the interface and i can hear myself in headphones, but cannot hear the mp3 and the vocal track is deleted as soon as i stop recording. also, the recording level bar is grayed out and i can't adjust the volume… when i change the audio driver to built in system and plug my headphones into my computer, i can hear the mp3 playback, the focusrite gets a signal and the track isn’t deleted when i stop recording, but I can’t hear any playback. oh, and the recording level bar is still grayed out. please help!

Did you create a new vocal track to record too?
If your earphones are plugged into the mac you need to choose that (built-in output)  as sound output.
You need to turn track monitoring on for the prerecorded track.

  • I keep getting a buzz when plugging in to garageband through my focus rite scarlett 2i2?

I purchased a mac book pro for recording purposes with garageband. to my surprise my old mbox wasnt compatible. So today I went out to guitar center and bought a new audio interface. a focusrite scarlett 2i2. finally got it set up. drivers downloaded and audio is coming through. but i keep getting a nasty buzz that fades in and out. anyone know how to get rid of that. i've checked the cables and all exterior plugs. but i cant get rid of it. HELP!

I'd guess a bad ground connection somewhere, either in the box or one of the cables.

  • Anyone using the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 with Logic?

I am looking to replace my Tascam US-122 with something of similar size/inputs. I've watched some videos and seen some reviews about the Scarlett 2i2, but I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience using it with Logic. I am wanting to make sure it will run with the 64-bit version of Logic that I am running on Lion. Currently to get my US-122 to work, i have to boot the computer in 32-bit mode or else my computer does not read the interface. I have also heard good things about the inputs in the Scarlett 2i2, and about Focusrite preamps in general, but I have never used them before. At this point, anything will be an upgrade from the Tascam unit that is starting to go faulty on me. This Focusrite unit seems like it could be exactly what I am looking for, I am just looking to see what others have to say about using it with their setups.

    Hi Miss Clandestine,
The Scarlett 2i2 will work just fine with the 64-bit version of Logic in Mac OS X Lion.
Here's a little example of what the preamps sound like: http://youtu.be/5sSBwkzdAU4 (yes, it was actually recorded through a 2i2 )
Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help out!

  • Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Cant Hear Playback With Logic

    Hi all,
I'm very sorry to trouble you's however I was wondering if anyone can give me a hand.
Im fairly new to Logic. However I just set up my focusrite scarlett 2i2.
It seems to be recording fine however I cannot seem to hear playback of any of my recordings.
I was wondering if anyone had any tips to help me out.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

    MM,
First take a look at this part of the manual, mainly the chapter... "Configuring Your Audio Hardware"
    http://help.apple.com/logicpro/mac/9.1.6/en/logicpro/usermanual/#chapter=2%26sec tion=0
Reading the manual is an important part of learning Logic.
    Next:
What are you listening with, where are you expecting to hear the audio playback?
Do you have headphones or speakers plugged into the Focusrite?

  • Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 clapping and crackling issues with Logic Pro x new iMac 27"

Hi,  I have just purchased a brand new iMac and downloaded Logic Pro x,  I also purchased the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface.  I have downloaded the drivers from the focusrite website and everything is set up,  when I plug in guitar or mic I get really bad clapping and crackling to the point where the sound cuts out altogether.  I have changed buffer size and sample rates and everything else I can think of but nothing seems to fix the problem.  I also deleted the 2i2 drivers and logic and reinstalled them both but still have the same issue,  when I record using the iMac built in mic everything is fine so it's deffinately something to do with the interface.  I am waiting to hear back from Focusrite tech help.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having a similar issue which might indicate that the problem is not your interface.
Yesterday I migrated all my stuff from my 2009 iMac to a brand new iMac 27", and when I did a quick test to play back some old projects in Logic there was loads of annoying clicks and pops. My interface is a Roland Octa-Capture.
I also noticed some weird CPU spikes from time to time, which I never had on my older, much less powerful iMac...

  • Scarlett 2i2 - USB 2.0

    Hello,
    I'm with the following problem...
When I turn on the audio device (scarlett 2i2) via USB to the iMac's the sound is often to click. I used garageband to play the audio in the iMac speakers.
Tested the same device on a macbook pro and it worked perfectly. I also used the garageband.
Another problem, plugging my sound mixer on headphone input of my iMac does not recognize it as input.
By doing the same thing in macbook pro recognizes it as input.
I have an iMac 2013, OS X 10.9.1. The macbook pro 2012 has the same version of the iMac (OS X 10.9.1).
    What should I do?

    Thank you for your input.
I am using this setup in CS6 and it works great but could not get it to work with CC. So i can't just settle with "skip any type of USB audio".
    Anyway, i figured it out:
I chose Premiere Pro WDM sound instead of the scarlett and in the ASIO settings chose the Scralett as input. works just how it's supposed to now.

  • Focusrite USB 2.0 Audio Driver Scarlett 2i2 in Premiere CC2014 not working

    Hi everybody.
I just recently upgraded to CC and cannot use my Audio Interface with it.
    Info:
    i7
    Windows 7 Ultimate
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, drivers up to date
Premiere Pro CC 2014 up do date
    GeForce GTX Titan
In CS6 i have set the audio hardware to Focusrite USB 2.0 Audio Driver.
    ASIO Settings:
    Buffer length 10
    In Latency is 19,6
    Out latency is 28,9
    Sample Rate 48000
...and it works like a charm.
In CC 2014 however, i can only use Premiere WDM sound.
If i choose the Focusrite, my sequence won't play. I can still scrub but with no audio.
    Also recording does not work.
I often have to punch in layout-voiceovers for timing and need this to work, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
    thank you all!

  • Crackling noises when using Scarlett 2i2?

Just bought the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 yesterday as my previous audio interface broke. Now I am having crackling noises when using the 2i2. . .a problem I did not have with my previous M-Audio Fast Track C400. . .so I know it's a problem specific to the 2i2. Already downloaded the latest drivers as well.
Anybody have any solutions or similar problems with this product??? The crackling noise is intolerable.
    Thanks.

Hi lee,  it sounds like the problem your having is exactly the same as mine.  When I use the 2i2 there is clapping and crackling which gets worse and worse until the sound disappears,  I know a few people on different forums are having the same issue so I don't think it is the interface.  I'm using iMac 27
    •      NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2GB GDDR5
    •      3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
    •      16GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X8GB
    •      1TB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm
There should be no problems with this set up in terms of capability,  I'm still waiting to hear back from Focusrite tech help desk and when I do I'll share the outcome.  I hope this can be resolved,  let me know if you have any luck before me?
If I was in the UK I would pick up the phone and call Focusrite but I'm in Australia!!

  • Problem with focus on applet  - jvm1.6

    Hi,
I have a problem with focus on applet in html page with tag object using jvm 1.6.
focus on applet work fine when moving with tab in a IEbrowser page with applet executed with jvm 1.5_10 or sup, but the same don't work with jvm1.6 or jvm 1.5 with plugin1.6.
with jvm 1.5 it's possible to move focus on elements of IEbrowser page and enter and exit to applet.
i execut the same applet with the same jvm, but after installation of plugin 1.6, when applet gain focus don't release it.
instead if i execute the same applet with jvm 1.6, applet can't gain focus and manage keyevent, all keyevent are intercepted from browser page.
(you can find an example on: http://www.vista.it/ita_vista_0311_video_streaming_accessibile_demo.php)
    Any idea?
    Thanks

    Hi piotrek1130sw,
From what you have described, I think the best approach would be to restore the original IDT driver, restart the computer, test that driver, then install the driver update, and test the outcome of installing the newest driver.
Use the following link for instructions to recovery the ITD driver using Recovery Manager. Restoring applications and drivers.
Once the driver is restored, restart the computer and test the audio. If the audio is good you can continue to use this driver, or you can reinstall the update and see what happens. IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver.
If installing the newest driver causes the issue to occur but the recovered driver worked, I suggest recovering again.
If neither driver works I will gladly follow up and provide any assistance I can.
Please let me know the outcome.

  • Problem with focus border and ListCellRenderer in custom listbox

I have a bug in some code that I adapted from another posting on this board -- basically what I've done is I have a class that implements a custom "key/value" mapping listbox in which each list item/cell is actually a JPanel consisting of 3 JLabels: the first label is the "key", the second is a fixed "==>" mapping string, and the 3rd is the value to which "key" is mapped.
The code works fine as long as the list cell doesn't have the focus. When it does, it draws a border rectangle to indicate focus, but if the listbox needs to scroll horizontally to display all the text, part of the text gets cut off (i.e. "sometex..." where "sometext" should be displayed).
The ListCellRenderer creates a Gridlayout to lay out the 3 labels in the cell's JPanel.
What can I do to remedy this situation? I'm not sure what I'd need to do in terms of setting the size of the panel so that all the text gets displayed OK within the listbox. Or if there's something else I can do to fix this. The code and a main() to run the code are provided below. To reproduce the problem, click the Add Left and Add Right buttons to add a "mapping" -- when it doesn't have focus, everything displays fine, but when you give it focus, note the text on the right label gets cut off.

  • Exit a comparison with focus on image with green border?

If I am comparing images and decide I want to exit the comparison, I command-click the image with the green border, but the focus then goes to whichever photo has the thick white border. Is there anyway to exit the comparison and still have the focus on the one with the green border?

I don't know if this was always the case, but after the upgrade to Aperture 2.1.1, I am now able to exit with focus on the base (green border) image by pressing option-return.

  • Data Warehousing solutions specially with focus on phonetic matching

Please suggest how we can provide Data Warehousing solutions specially with focus on phonetic matching of alphabet strings with Oracle Database

Oracle Ultra Search is a built-in utility that might be suitable for your case :

Most likely you would need to build something custom, in which case you can use Oracle Text development framework:
