Garageband wont display a song from itunes.

I have one song that will not display in the media browser. It is a song I purchased from the iTunes store and it does show up in the "purchased" list.

Hello William,
is the song in question a protected song with DRM (the kind is "Protected AAC Audio file")? Then it will not be visible in the Media Browser and can't be imported to Garageband. If however it is a "Purchased AAC Audio File" you should be able to use it in Garageband. Just try to drag the song directly from iTunes to Garageband.
Sometimes it is necessary to quit iTunes to update the Media Browser.
Good Luck
Leonie

It means that itunes on your computer cannot find where the songs are on your computer.  what you do is right click a song in itunes when you are in your library and then click on find

  • Garageband wont import song from iTunes

Hi,  I've imported songs from iTunes to Garageband many times by just selecting and dragging the song from iTunes into the GarageBand application window.  Not sure why... but now that does not work--GarageBand is not accepting the song when I drag it over.  Help!  I'm using iTunes 10.6.3 and GarageBand 4.1.2.
Update--just saw posting from HangTime with  link to instructions to highlight song in iTunes, select "Show in Finder" from the iTunes File pull-down menu, and then drag the song into the Garageband window from the Finder.  It worked. Just wondering (now) why GarageBand is not allowing me to simply drag a song into Garageband directly from iTunes.

Thank you for posting that 'update' Kingpalm. It just solved my (same) problem, today 1st January 2014!

  • I just recently purchased 3 songs from itunes not knowing that I had no money on my debit card (visa) left. My iphone wont let me update my apps and says that there was a billing problem with my last purchase. I dont know what I am supposed to do!

I just recently purchased 3 songs from itunes not knowing that I had no money on my debit card (visa) left. My iphone wont let me update my apps and says that there was a billing problem with my last purchase. I dont know what I am supposed to do! I dont understand why it worked in the first place when it wasn't supposed to!

There seems to be a billing problem with the iTS.  I've been trying to make purchases today (Dec 9th) too and it reports either the iTS can not process payments or it says my card was declined. I even changed the payment method to Paypal (which is never declined) and still no go.
I don't think it is "you" but a problem at Apple.  Some popular new apps were released recently like Logic Pro and perhaps they're getting bombarded as they did when Lion was released.
Wait a few hours and then try again.

It may be corrupted. Delete it and redownload from itunes store
In iTunes Store click on the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right.
Navigate to the song you want and click on the Cloud button to download

  • Not all of my songs from itunes are appearing in garageband.

Not all of my songs from itunes are appearing in garageband. I want to make a ringtone with a certain song but its not there. How do I get it to be there?

Is it a song you have purchased? Maybe your song is protected by digital right management? Then it will not show up in GarageBand. Have a look in the Information panel if the kind of the song is "Protected".

  • Any way to get garageband songs from iTunes to GB iPAd?  seems to not show

    Hi
Im having trouble getting songs from iTunes into Garageband, i can see the songs i exported to iTunes from Garage band on the ipad, the lists in iTunes shows a song i made on my desktop including the iPad ones i exported into iTunes from the iPad but weird thing is on the iPad it will not show the desktop song in its iTunes import list,.

The only way that i know to do this is to convert all of the songs you have downloaded from itunes. I dont think that the creative software to convert songs will convert the itunes format but i know that ImToo Audio Encoder will convert them.

Make sure you understand the difference between an Audio File and a GarageBand Project File (also known as GarageBand Song File)
The + sing in the My Songs page is for opening a GarageBand Project File, either a new one or one that is copied vie the iTunes File Sharing mechanism. If I understand you right, then you want to import an Audio File from your iTunes library in a GarageBand Project and not open an existing GarageBand Project.
To import an Audio File from your iTunes Library to an existing GarageBand Project.
Make sure you sync your iTunes Library (all songs or a selection) to your iPad. This is the standard procedure so you can listen to your iTunes Library on your iPad (this step has nothing to do with GarageBand yet)
Once you are in your GarageBand Project, tap the Loop Browser icon (the ribbon) to open the Loop Browser
The misleading part here is that this window can display three tabs, not only the Apple Loops. It also displays any synced audio file via the iTunes Fle Sharing (the tab is labeled "Audio Files) and also any songs that you have synced to yoyr iPad that I just described. This tab is now called "Music".
Look at the screenshot of my previous post. The Music tab provides the same browsing capabilities (Playlists, Artist, etc) as your iTunes.
Navigate to the Kareoke Song (audio file) and drag it onto a GarageBand audio track
I explain all those details and concepts in my GarageBand book
    Hope that helps

  • Downloaded song from iTunes, now iTunes can't find it!

I just downloaded a song from iTunes. It was hanging on the download so I cancelled, then went to Store >> Check for Available Downloads. Song finished downloading and processing, and it displays under Purchased songs in iTunes.
Here's the catch...now that pesky exclamation mark is displaying next to it, saying it can't find the file and would I like to look for it. I've never had this happen with a song purchased on iTunes before.
Thoughts? I looked through my iTunes Music Library folders and didn't see anything there for the artist.
    I'm running iTunes 10.
    Thanks.

Wound up just buying the song again.

  • Downloading purchased songs from itunes

    Hello,
I have recently purchased about 35 songs from itunes. This was my first time doing this. I have been charged for all 35 songs, however only 15 of them have actually downloaded. I emailed itunes for help and they said they cannot deal with technical support and I am getting very frusterated. I found a thread somewhere that said to go to the advanced menu and click check purchases. I have done this over and over, and when I do it the other 20 songs I have purchased come up but then disappear and fail to download. A pop up then comes up that reads
"There was an error downloading your purchased music. The disk could not be read from or written to. Use the Check for Purchases command under the Advanced menu to try again later."
Well this is exactly what I have been doing, and I have tried it over and over for 3 days now. I have tried turning off my firewall and that didnt do anything either. I don't think it has anything to do with firewalls or priveledges though since about half of them downloaded immediatly.
If anyone has had this happen to them before and knows how to fix it that would be greatly appreciated. I wont be happy if I just lost my money.. even if its only $15.00
    Thanks in advance
    -Kyra

    Is your hard drive full?
    Quit iTunes.
Look in the iTunes music folder for a folder named Downloads.
    Delete the Downloads folder.
Restart iTunes then Check for purchases again.

    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if it frightens you, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
