Garageband WONT Send RINGTONES to iTunes

Hi All,
Long time mac user here -- this has worked for me before, but ever since upgrading to Snow Leopard I cannot send ringtones from Garageband to iTunes. This goes for normal songs as well -- iTunes will launch, but the song or ringtone won't be added, nor will the specified playlist (if exporting a song).
Any ideas? I trashed the garageband preferences in ~/Library/Preferences, and I also tried appzapping garageband and reinstalling it from the iLife 09 DVD.
Thanks

Anyone got any suggestions?

  • Problems with sending ringtones to iTunes.

I'm using the latest version of Garageband '08, and when I click send ringtone to itunes, it says it's sending it to iTunes, then itunes opens up but my ringtone is not there. It's like nothing even happened. Why is it doing this?

I'm having the exact same problem. Have followed the tutorials on Facebook, researched it in this board, and still am not finding an answer.
    Still looking.

  • My iphone 4 wont play ringtones on itunes

my iphone 4 wont play ringtones on itunes as it says i need to be running an iOS 5.0 or later. i tried to update my phone but itunes says my phone is up to date with version 4.3.5? Any ideas? this has just happened today (12/10/11) The ringtones i alread have play fine on the phone.

I believe you have to make the ringtones in iTunes for them to work. Not sure if they are mp4 format as that is what works on the iPhones.

  • GarageBand not "Sending song to iTunes"

Whenever I press "Send song to iTunes," it mixes and converts, and then iTunes opens...with no song. Why is this happening, and how can I fix this issue? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • Garage Band not sending Ringtones to iTunes

Hello, here's the thing, i have updated to the latest version of Garage Band after hearing that i could make my own ringtones with it. I tried it and success! i have like 6 or 7 ringtones made directly from Garage Band. Now here's the problem, i purchased a new HD to put my music and movies on it, so i went to the finder and transfered the itunes music folder on my old HD and put it on my new HD, then i opened itunes and in the preferences tab i located it so that it would read it from its new location. iTunes updated the library without trouble, and now i have all my music and videos from my new HD. The thing is that now i go to Garage Band to make a new ringtone (the process like i did before the new HD) and it creates it, but now the newly created ringtone does not appear on the ringtones pane in itunes, and therefore it wont appear on my iphone under the ringtones tab. All of the other ringtones appear without trouble, just the new ones that don't appear. Am i doing something wrong? I've looked in spotlight and i cant find them anywhere. Please help guys!

I'm no Mac expert here, but in Windows you could solve this problem by dragging and dropping the files from Explorer (Finder?) right into the iTunes library.

  • Garageband wont import song from iTunes

Hi,  I've imported songs from iTunes to Garageband many times by just selecting and dragging the song from iTunes into the GarageBand application window.  Not sure why... but now that does not work--GarageBand is not accepting the song when I drag it over.  Help!  I'm using iTunes 10.6.3 and GarageBand 4.1.2.
Update--just saw posting from HangTime with  link to instructions to highlight song in iTunes, select "Show in Finder" from the iTunes File pull-down menu, and then drag the song into the Garageband window from the Finder.  It worked. Just wondering (now) why GarageBand is not allowing me to simply drag a song into Garageband directly from iTunes.

Thank you for posting that 'update' Kingpalm. It just solved my (same) problem, today 1st January 2014!

  • I am unable to send ringtone from itunes

    Hi,
I have installed ringtone maker in my iphone 4s, from that created a ringtone. The same was opened with itunes installed in my laptop. But once i tried to save the ringtone to my laptop, itunes will stop working and close down. I reinstalled the itunes once again to my laptop, still the problem persists. Please suggest me how to fix the problem.
    Thanks

I just tried to convert another song to the mr4 and at the "Create ACC version" step, I get an error message "could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats".
The song was purchased through iTunes.  I have searched community and it seems I need to change how I download , i.e. change the size of the file but I could not figure out how to do that.  Since you were so helpful before, I thought I would ask you.  If I am supposed to start a new query, I apologize, I am new to this community forum.
    Best regards,
    Va Peach

  • Send Ringtone to iTunes - No worky!

I followed the procedure, iTunes opens...
That's it. No ringtone. No error message. It acts as though it's working and simply doesn't. Any ideas?

Works fine with a local iTunes music folder... Apparently it doesn't like it when your iTunes folder is on an Airport Disk. Thpppffft!

  • How do you make a ringtone in iTunes for your phone on a mac computer

How can I make ringtones on my phone with my mac computer

    Hey tskeltner,
You will use GarageBand to create the ringtone and then you will have an option to send it to iTunes. Depending on which version of iTunes you have, the article below will walk you through the entire process.

  • How to buy ringtones in iTunes

Am I missing something? I thought I saw that you could buy ringtones now in iTunes 9. How the heck do you find that feature? Looks to me like they took it out. I can't even see which songs now have the ability to be a ringtone. ???

I just checked my iTunes. When you click on "Purchased" and view the list of purchased music, if you alt click on the song you want, one of the options is "Create Ringtone." It appears to work for all of the songs I've purchased. The box pops up in the bottom of iTunes to select the part of the song you want to use for the ringtone. After you select the section of the song you want, click on "Buy" in the bottom right corner of iTunes window. Each new created ringtone is 99 cents.
On a Mac, you can create ringtones for FREE using GarageBand. It works with ANY song, wether purchased form iTunes or imported from CD. I found this out pretty quick after paying for 2 ringtones. I had one that didn't work, and the Apple Support guy kinda slipped up with the GarageBand tip.
Open GarageBand, click on iPhone Ringtone. Select Example Ringtone. When it opens, delete the track that's displayed. Drag the song you want from iTunes into the blank space in the middle of the GarageBand window and size it to where you want it. After you're finished, go to the top of the screen and select "Share" then "Send Ringtone to iTunes" and you're all done!
    Have fun!

  • How to create ringtones with itunes?

ok how do i go about creating ringtones with the music in my playlists in itunes? and how do i transfer ringtones that are on my computer to the ringtone library?

Everyone seems to have their way to make a ringtone. There are aspects of Garage Band which I find cumbersome, but you need Garage Band to create and transfer your ringtone to your iTunes library. Try this.
    1. Download and install Audion 3, a free Mac mp3 editor (http://www.panic.com/Audion/
    2. Open Audion 3, then under File go to "open mp3 in editor.
    3. Navigate to your song via home/music/itunes/itunes music to the folder and then mp3 you want to make into a ringtone
    4. Identify which brief section you want for your ringtone, say from 22 seconds to 52 seconds of the song, drag and highlight that section in the mp3 editor, then under Edit click on Copy.
    5. Go back to Audion 3 and under File click on New mp3 editor. Paste your saved file into that space. Under File again click Save As, give it a name and the suffix .mp3, save to your desktop.
    6. Open Garage Band, iPhone ringtones, loops, choose
    7. Delete anything which Garage put in main space, then drag your mp3 into that space. After it sets up, go to share and send ringtone to iTunes.
    8. Sync. Be sure your check Sync all Ringtones, otherwise you have to individually click on your new rintone.

  • How do I create ringtones from iTunes songs with Garageband?

I have an iPhone 5s.  Is it possible to convert itunes songs into ringtones with Garageband ios?

Yes, you can, if you sync your iTunes songs to the Music.app.
    See this Help-Page:
    http://help.apple.com/garageband/iphone/2.0/index.html#chs39284d66
Share a GarageBand song as a ringtone or text tone
In the My Songs browser, tap the Select button, then tap the song you want to export (or touch and hold the song).
Tap the Action button , then tap Share Song As Ringtone. The Export Ringtone panel opens, showing the name for the ringtone. By default, the ringtone uses the same name as the song. The maximum length for exported ringtones is 30 seconds. If the exported ringtone exceeds the maximum length, a dialog appears. Tap Continue to have GarageBand shorten the ringtone automatically, or tap Cancel to return to the song so you can shorten it.
To rename the ringtone, tap the name and type a new name.
    Tap Export.
In the Ringtone Export Successful panel, do one of the following:
To return to the My Songs browser, tap OK.
To choose a use for the ringtone, tap Use sound as, then do one of the following:
To use the ringtone as your standard ringtone, replacing the existing ringtone, tap Standard Ringtone.
To use the ringtone as your standard text tone, replacing the existing text tone, tap Standard Text Tone.
To see a list of your contacts, tap Assign to Contact, then tap the contact you want to use the ringtone with.
To return to the My Songs browser without assigning the ringtone, tap Done to return.
The next time you sync your device, the ringtone also appears in the GarageBand File Sharing area in iTunes. You can drag it to the Tones list to add it to your iTunes ringtone library.
And see this page, how to add a song from the Music.app to a track in GarageBand:
Import a song from the Music app   http://help.apple.com/garageband/iphone/2.0/index.html#chsb3f15dc4

  • Changed my iTunes password, not iMessage wont send or receive SMS

Hi! Like the title says, I had to change my iTunes password and now iMessage on my macbook wont send or receive SMS messages when it did previously.  I have enabled messaging and FaceTime.  I've restarted all devices (iphone5s, iPad mini, and MacBook Pro) and updated iCloud and all passwords.  Everything else appears to have connected smoothly, except for this.   Any ideas how I can fix this?
    Thanks in advance!

I tried to post in a few others and kept getting this message.
