Garagekey USB keyboard works with MacBook Pro, but not with 27"  iMac

Just got a brandnew 27" iMac. The Garagekey USB keyboard doesn't work. It's recognized in systemProfiler, Audio-Midi Setup, GarageBand and Logic. But no Midi is coming in. When I plug it into my MacBook Pro, it works immediately. I know the Garagekey doesn't work with some 3rd party USB hubs, maybe for lack of enough power, but it works always at the internal USB hubs with the MacBook Pro. Why doesn't it with the 27" iMac? I'm cueless...
The IMac Systemprofiler says: Current Available (mA) 500, Current Required (mA) 300. So I guess, it can't be a power problem?

Have the same problem with Logic Pro. Works on my old Mac Mini but not on the new iMac 27" i5. Apple told me that it is a difference between the boards they used on the two computers. They said that even if I got a new mac mini I would run into the same problem. they recommended that I upgrade my mini, or try another piece of hardware to connect the two. Looking for hardware now. Good luck to you.

  • Airport/TC working with MacBook Pro but not with my Mac Pro???

    Hi all,
I've got a Time Capsule connected to a Westell Modem through AT&T. Needless to say; I've had a lot of issues with my setup but this one has my stumped.
After my network crashed a few days ago, I reset everything and got my Airport network running on my laptop. I cannot get it to work on my Mac Pro. My MP doesn't even see the Time Capsule when I run Airport Utility. It'll show the network on the Airport Icon at the top of the page and will even let me choose it when picking a network to connect to.
Anyone know what to do, please help!!!
    Thanks!!!
    Chris

On the Mac that won't connect using wireless:
Open System Preferences and click on Network
Click the Airport connection on the left
Click the Advanced button on the lower right
Look for the name of your wireless network and delete it using the - (minus) button at the bottom of the connection list. Delete any other networks that you do not need as well
    Apply changes
Open Hard Drive > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access
Under the Kind column, look for any listings of Airport Network Password and delete them
    Restart your computer
Keep your Mac close to the TC for now and click the AirPort icon at the top of the screen and try to log on to your wireless network.

  • New FAT32 flash drive works on Macbook Pro, but not on my iMac?

Both Macs are updated to at least 10.6. Yet the brand new flash drive fails to even show up on my iMac and it is not in disk utility either.
    Thoughts?  Thanks!

I called Adobe and they, without exaggeration, told me that they couldn't support Spry items and that I had to go the this forum for answers.  What BS!
Its not the first time I hear that. Its clearly a Dreamweaver issue instead of Spry issue.
In design mode, if you hover over the inserted menu bar, does it get a blue color? If yes, what happens if you click the blue label "Spry Menu Bar: Menubar{x}"? It should display in the properties panel.
If not could please provide us with a screenshot?

  • I keep getting kicked off of my wifi with my MacBook Pro but not with my IPAD?

I keep getting kicked off of my wifi with my MacBook Pro but not with my IPAD, what do I do?

    Hi, mmayers.
Sometimes a simple power cycle of the router can correct the issue that you are experiencing.  However, the issue could be a little more complex.  Wi-Fi routers need adjustments to settings periodically for optimized performance with the constant progression of wireless device technology.  Below, I have included two articles.  The first article will cover basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting.  The second article covers the recommended settings for current Wi-Fi access points.

  • Canon printer WORKS in MacBook Pro but NOT in Chrome/ iPhone 6 after iOS 8 update

Canon printer WORKS in MacBook Pro but now NOT in Chrome/ iPhone 6 after iOS 8 update. The printer worked previously with NO PROBLEMS. The printer is online & connected to the WiFi, not issues.
    WHY???!!!???

You probably would get better answers in either the iPhone or iOS forums. This is for Macbooks. I've asked the hosts to move it.

I have bought two separate thumb drives that are MAC/PC compatible.  They will work on my MacBook Pro but not my desk top Mac.  Both are less than a year old.  Desk top will read older thumb drives w/o problems, but not the new ones.

  • USB Card reader works on MacBook Pro but not Mac Pro

I have a random "All-in-1" card reader from Quantaray. I'm trying to mount my CF card because it takes forever and a day to import HD video directly from my Canon 5D Mk II.
It works on my MacBook Pro (Mid 2010). Both computers are running 10.6.8. All I have to do is plug it in and it appears on the desktop on my Macbook. But not on my Mac Pro.
I've already tried resetting the PRAM and SMC. No dice
It shows up in the System Profiler under the USB High Speed port as a usb card reader but I can't find it anywhere; not even in Disk Utility.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    jaypie77,
First, you must identify the application that created the file. If it truly was Macromedia Flash, fine. Once you know which app created the file, make certain that the same application exists on the Mac Pro. If it does, set the file to open in that application: Open a Getinfo window for the file, then use the "Open With..." dialogue to choose Macromedia Flash (or the correct application) to open the file.

  • .osx file extension works on MacBook Pro but not Mac Pro

So I have a file that was created, I believe in Macromedia Flash (not certain) but it has a .osx extension on it. It works just fine on my MacBook Pro, but won't work on a Mac Pro. Both have Leopard, both have most of the same software on them... Can anybody offer any help?

  • Apple ID works on macbook pro but not on ipad after upgrade to IOS7

My Apple log in ID works on my computer but not on my ipad anymore, now that I have installed ios7. Any suggestion?
    Armelle

Could you be more specific about "it doesn't work?" Where exactly are you seeing the problem and what exactly is happening?

  • Thunderbolt Display works with MacBook Pro but not iMac. Huh?

I have a Thunderbolt Display, which I normally keep connected as an "extended desktop" to my MacBook Pro -- no problem.
Starting today, I'm using a borrowed iMac and I had hoped to switch my Thunderbolt Display over and do the same arrangement: "extended desktop." However, the display does not come on when I power up the iMac, and clicking the "detect displays" button in the Displays Preferences window does not help.
This iMac was previously set up with an a different Thunderbolt Display in its original home, and seemed to work fine. I saw it with my own eyes. My own Thunderbolt Display still works fine when connected to my MacBookPro. It's only the combination of my monitor to the borrowed iMac that doesn't work.
Both the MacBook Pro and the iMac are running OS X Version 10.7.3. The MacBook has an AMD Radeon HD 6770M card, and the iMac is using an ATI Radeon HD 5750.
    Ideas?

Both the mini-displayport plugs and TB plugs are physically compatible which is why you can plug it in.   But if the iMac has a mini-displayport for video it won't work with the TB display.
Check your System Profile to see if it tells you whether you have a TB port.  And if there is no information about that post here or look up for yourself the kind of ports for that model of iMac.  System Profiler will give yo that information (click Hardware on the left).  From the model information it can be definitively determined whether that imac supports TB.
Also, so long as the Displays system preferences is not showing an Arrangement tab then it is not detecting the second display.

  • Airport Express Printer Works with Macbook Pro, but not on Macbook

We have two Macs -- a Macbook Pro, and a Macbook. Both are connected to an Airport Express, and can access the internet and control Airtunes without any issue. However, only the Macbook Pro can print to the Aiport Express connected printer -- a Canon ip3500.
When I go to system preferences to add the printer on the Macbook, the printer is available, and it allows me to add it. However, the location of the printer and the driver( or at least the driver number) are different, even though it is pre-populated by the computer itself.
Once the printer shows as being installed, I can print to that printer, but the job is automatically "Stopped" in the status. I cannot restart the job, it just stalls out.
When the printer is connected via USB, the Macbook can print to it without issue. It can also print to it via bonjour if I share the printer from the Macbook Pro.
Anyone else having similar issues? Any suggestions on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Try creating a new location in the network settings. Then select Network port configurations and drag Airport to the top of the list. Uncheck any unused connection types such as built-in modem and Bluetooth.

  • Wireless works on MacBook Pro but not iBook

    Hi, all:
I have wireless set up in my home via a Negear router, and all is well when I connect with my MacBook Pro. I have a family member staying with me who has an older iBook running OS 10.3.9 with a wireless card installed, and her wireless connection works fine everywhere else but my house. I have a password to access my wireless connection here at home, but she keeps getting the error message "That is the wrong password" when I know it is the correct one.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help!!
    ~Chris

    Yes, thank you!
First, here is the link for the Reference and Setup manuals for this router.
Second, to disable wireless security, select the "None" option. (ref: pg. 3-6 of the Reference Manual)
To re-enable wireless security, select the "WPA-PSK (TKIP) + WPA2-PSK (AES)" option.

  • Bluetooth keyboard connected to MacBook Pro but not typing

Just bought the new MacBook Pro and love it. I've got my bluetooth wireless trackpad connected and working fine.  Unfortunately, my bluetooth wireless keyboard is connecting, but not typing.  How can I troubleshoot this?

Okay, I've had the wireless keyboard disconnected from the old computer.  Now my current computer says the keyboard is 'connected' under the bluetooth drop down menu, however will not type and when I got into System Preferences>Keyboard and choose Set Up Bluetooth Keyboard it says No Keyboard Found, even though the little green light on the keyboard is flashing.  Any idea how to troubleshoot this and get the keyboard working?

  • Can connect to Snow with MacBook Pro but not G4

I have used my G4 with the airport for a long time. I recently got a MacBook Pro and it connects in fine to the ABS. Both worked connecting to the ABS for a few months. Suddenly, the G4 quit recognizing the ABS. Nothing I do allows it to find it. Could there have been a software update that caused this? There was a thunder storm, but no recognizable issues on the G4, everything seems to be fine...except it doesn't see the Airport.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
    Larry
    G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

try unplugging your broadband modem and ABS for a short time and plug them back in.

  • MagSafe Adaptor works on MacBook Pro but not MacBook

I have a MagSafe 60 Watt adaptor that will not work on any of our 1 year old Black MacBooks but will work on my MacBook Pro 17" and my other workers 15" MacBook Pro. Has anybody ever had this happen? I have tried it on at least 8 MacBooks and no go. Thanks, Billy

Have discovered that the MagSafe adaptor also works on a white, but will not work on a Black MacBook. Apple replaced it but it still puzzles me.
