Garbled Japanese ID Tags in itune 9 / Using MBP 13

I just switched to MBP 13 and I like it so far.
One problem is that all songs I imported from my server to itunes gets broken Japanese tags. They show fine in Windows itunes.
What could be the problem?

Wrong encoding perhaps.

  • Which version of ID3 tags does iTunes 9 use?

Hi, which version of ID3 tags does iTunes 9 use?

I'm with you on the multiple tags issue. I'd just assumed if iTunes rips with v2.2 and then you get it to convert to v2.3 the file would have just the one tag. Otherwise why not call the feature *Add v2.3 tag?* Anyway there I go again expecting logic when I should know better.

  • Has iTunes stopped using the iTunNORM tag?

Recently, I was trying to figure out whether I wanted to use info generated by the replay_gain algorithm in my iTunNORM tags, so I experimented with a couple of things, and one of things I did was to remove the iTunNORM tag completely from a copy of an aac file. I then added this song to iTunes, I noticed that the file remained unchanged, the iTunNORM tag was not created ( and yes I had the Sound Check feature on)
So then I picked a song that I had, and I generated 3 aac's from it (one where I amplified the volume, one I decreased the volume, and one with the volume unchanged), so there was no iTunNORM tag in the files, no replay_gain tags in the files. I then added these songs to iTunes, and found out that soundcheck now works without adding the itunNORM tag to aac's; that is to say, if I have Sound Check off, then the 3 test acc's will play at different levels of loudness, and if it is on then they sound to be at the same level of loudness.
Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?
Has iTunes stop using the iTunNORM tag?
    BTW:
I used foobar and qtaacenc (QuickTime commandline encoder) to create the aac files.
I did this after I had upgraded to iTunes 11, I have since downgraded to 10.7 and I have gotten the same results. I am using the 64 bit windows version of iTunes.

Also I'm very very interested in knowing the answer to your question.
I posted yesterday some questions (among which your question itself) here "https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4791322" but nobody answered me yet.
Did you find out at last if iTunes 10 stopped using the iTunNorm tag and where it eventually write soundcheck info into an mp3 file?
Thank you very much for your anser.

  • Why itunes uses tags from itunes store instead of my personlizaed tags when the show music form the cloud is activated?

When the option show music from the cloud is activated itunes overwrites the music tags from each song that was bought in the itunes stores, using the orignal tags from the store, this is very anoying

    Mine doesn't.

  • I have "Explicit" song tags in iTunes, but they (the tags, not the songs) are not showing up on my iPhone.

    Hi,
I recently found a way to add the "EXPLICIT" tag to songs in my iTunes Library (using Subler), and just presumed that the tags were not showing up in my iPhone Music because the phone simply did not have the function to display them.
However, after updating to iOS 7, and seeing every song I have ever purchased, I noticed that the iPhone can indeed show whether songs are explicit or not (by marking them with a letter 'E').
Therefore I am just wondering why I can see whether songs are explicit on my Mac, yet not on my iPhone. I have tried removing the songs from my iTunes Library, syncing to remove them from my phone, re-adding them to my Library, and then re-syncing to put them back onto my phone, and the explicit tag still does not show up.
Please can you help me resolve this.
    Thanks

If you are syncing your contacts from your PC with iCloud, they are not transferred to your phone using iTunes.  They are synced to your phone using iCloud, either over wifi or your cellular data network.
First go to icloud.com with your computer browser, sign into your account and open Contacts there to confirm that your contacts appear.  If they do, go to Settings>iCloud on your phone, sign into your account and turn Contact on.  Assuming your phone is either connected to wifi or your cellular data network, the contacts should then download from iCloud to your phone.

If you buy them as a Ringtone, then Itunes should automatically put them in Tones. It is a huge hassle and takes time most of us don't have to waste, when we purchased them as Tones and Apple told me they would automatically show up in Tones if purchased from Itunes Store. NOT!  And we shouldn't have to google to find the answer. They should make that clear on Itunes store.  Very disappoiinted in the Itunes upgrades that have caused so many problems.

Adding Open DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security, (including anti-phishing and redirects) (Full information about Open DNS is here: http://www.opendns.com/home/nobloat ) and further independent information can be read here:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57338784-263/free-dnscrypt-tool-enhances-ma c-web-security/?tag=mncol;txt
    and here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1146064/troubleshootdns.html?t=234
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:

  • Problem with Grouping Tag in iTunes

    Hi,
I am trying to use getID3 to read the 'Grouping' tag from iTunes. It would seem that iTunes is writing these tags to my MP3 files, as, when I open them in Media Rage the Grouping Tag shows up OK. However, when I then upload the tracks to my server and use 'content_group_description' to read these tags (the getid3 code for the 'Grouping' tag, nothing shows up. If however, I change the Grouping Tag in Media Rage, and then re-upload, the Grouping Tag does show up.
I wonder if someone could help me troubleshoot why this is happening. I would rather not have to retag all of my files in Media Rage if possible.
    Thanks,
    Nick

After further investigation it would seem that the Grouping Tag is preserved such that getid3 can read it for the original files in my iTunes library.  The problem occurs with files are converted using iTunes (from higher bitrate to lower bitrate MP3s).  For these files, the Grouping Tag shows up in Media Rage, but cannot be read by getid3.  If anyone has an idea why this might be, and what I can do to resolve this issue, I'd be glad to hear of it.
    Thanks,
    Nick

  • Problem with ID3 tags in iTunes

I was hoping that I could get some clarification on how iTunes uses ID3 tags with mp3s. The problem I am having is that I have fixed all the ID3 tags on my mp3s using another program (Tag & Rename is the name of the program, it does both v1 and v2 ID3 tags) but iTunes still doesn't recognize the changes I have made. I have tried deleting my entire library, and readding all the songs, but for some reason it still has the wrong information. I tried opening the files with other music players, and they read the ID3 tags fine.
    Thanks in advance!
I don't know if this helps, but the most noticable program is with my compilations. I changed all the artists to the actual artist name instead of "Various" that it used to say, but iTunes still reports the artist as "Various".

I routinely change file names, change ID3 tags, and edit existing tracks using external programs. Once done, all I do is to double click the track in iTunes to ensure it reads updated ID3 tag info correctly from the track.
    1. iTunes reads track info from the file everytime you play a track and saves any changes that you have made through external software to its internal database at "C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl" and "iTunes Music Library.xml". As an alternative to playing, you could also press Ctrl-I to display track info, at which time it reads updated info from the track and displays it.
    2. If the filename has been changed for a track, iTunes prompts you to point to the right filename. When done, it populates ID3 tag info, while retaining the playcount and rating.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can´t see japanese characters on my itunes

Hi, I restore my computer yesterday, and now I can't see the japanese characteres of the titles of my japanese songs on the itunes library. My computer supports the language, I can see the characters on other programs, windows media player, internet explorer, firefox, notebook...... so it's only an itunes problem.
    Is there any solution?
    Thanks

Did you create a NEW account using the instructions in Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card using an email address you had not previously used with Apple?
    You have to.
Maybe that option is not available in your country. It works in the USA

  • Synchronization of ID3v2.3 Tags in iTunes 7.6and/or Windows Media Player 11

Althought maintained e.g. rating information for single mp3-files on my HDD, I can see this rating and maintain it in WMP11 but this rating is not shown in iTunes 7.6
How do I see rating info in iTunes and how can I update iTunes if e.g. rating info has been updated in Media Player or in the mp3-file itself?

I only use ID3v2.3 tags for my MP3 files and I can verify that track numbers and disc numbers work properly. My hunch is that these files do not only have ID3v2 tags in them. I recommend downloading Mp3tag to check the format of your tags. I recommend using ID3v2 UTF-16.

  • Edit (modify or change) MP3 tag with iTunes

    Hi All!
Someone knows how can i change, modify or edit the mp3 tag with iTunes 6? Is it possible?
If it isn't possible, do you know some plug-in for iTunes (or external program) that allow me to change mp3 tag of a file(s)?
    tnx a lot

right-click on the entry in iTunes and select "Get Info". The "Summary" tab tells you a little about the file, while the other tabs (Info, Options, etc.) let you edit ID3 tags supported and used by iTunes.

cant download itunes 10 using windows vista erroe about installation of assembly

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)
