Garbled order when photos transferred to IPhone

I have a file of photos on my computer which are viewed sequentially in name order - topic 1.jpg, topic 2.jpg, etc. They transfer fine to the IPhone, but the order is garbled so the slide show on the IPhone doesn't show in the correct sequence. How can I either correct the sequence on the IPhone or resync them from the computer to the phone in the correct sequence. Thanks

chasharold,
Where do you manage your photos? I just organized mine in a folder using the Finder (on a Mac), viewing the photos as a vertical list to confirm their order. When I synced them over, they synced in that order, with the top-first to bottom-last (ordered left to right on iPhone). In slideshow view, they alternated in this sequence as well.

  • How to reorganize order of photos in an album on iphone 4s. ios7.1.2.  When I synced photos from an album on my computer, the order of photos on my iphone was our of order.

How can I reorganize the order of photos in an album on my iphone 4s, ios7.1.2.  When I synced an album from my computer to my iphone, the photos are not in the same order as on my computer.  I want the photos  in a particular order, not in the order I added them to my computer.

I have one album of several that are synced from my computer that I needed to have in a specific order. I finally accomplished that by naming the photos alphabetically in the order I wanted them (I didn't have many and simply placed an "a" in front of the first, "b" in the second etc). I did this on the computer and then synced them again. Note that each time you sync via iTunes, the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone will be set to match the current iTunes selection/settings so you can repeat several times if needed before you get it right.

  • Once photos transferred from iPhone 4S to PC, unable to edit them.

I transferred all photos from my iPhone 4S to my PC (Windows Vista). They are in my Windows gallery. However, I am not able to edit them. I want to rotate them, as most of them are sideways.. My PC gives me this error message "This photo cannot be saved because of a problem with the photos properties". It's in JPEG format so I am not sure why it won't let me. It's for all pictures that are transferred from iPhone to PC. Any suggestions?

That worked, however, a lot of work to do for all pictures. I noticed though, that these are the pictures I take with the camera vertically. When I take pictures holding camera horizontally, they transfer over correctly. If I take the vertical picture and change it to horizontal before sending to my email, it will then be able to be rotated in Windows. So it seems as though any pictures taken vertically willl transfer over horizontally, needing to be rotated, but only Paint will allow me to do that. Make sense? Any setting on the iPhone that will correct this, when taking pictures vertically? Most of the time, that's how I take pictures.

  • HT4906 I have upgraded to mountain lion - why aren't my photos transferred from Iphone automatically

    automatically from iphone?

First you must meet the necessary system requirements on both your Mac and Mobile device:
    iCloud: System requirements
    Mac
OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later
iTunes 11 or later (for iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match)
iPhoto ’11 version 9.4 or later or Aperture 3.4 or later (for Photo Stream)
Safari 6 or later (for iCloud.com, Bookmarks, and iCloud Tabs), Firefox 16 or later or Chrome 23 or later (for iCloud.com)
iWork '09: Pages 4.3 or later, Number 2.3 or later, and Keynote 5.3 or later (for purchase from the Mac App Store)
    iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
    iOS 6 or later
Next you need to setup iCloud on both devices by logging in to the same iCloud account and then enabling Photo Sharing as follows:
    On your Mac:
    On your iPhone, iPad:
    And in iPhoto:
That should automatically import all of the photos taken on your mobile device into your iPhoto Library on your Mac.

  • How keep original order of photos in iPhoto album when transferring to Photo Stream?

I want my carefully organized photos in a iPhoto Album to remain in SAME order when sending the album to my iPad from my MacBook Pro via Photo Stream. How can I do this?   Also, does anyone know how to keep the captions below photos when using Photo Stream?

I want my carefully organized photos in a iPhoto Album to remain in SAME order when sending the album to my iPad from my MacBook Pro via Photo Stream. How can I do this?
Are you asking about "My Photo Stream" or a "Shared Photo Stream"?
"My Photo Stream" is only a temporary buffer, not meant for long term storage. You have no control over the order of the photos in the stream. Mostly they will be ordered by the date.
"Shared Photo Streams" will be ordered in the same order as add the photos. SO you can control the sequence by adding the photos one by one.
The captions will not be transferred, only the file names.

  • Sort order of photos on iPhone messed up when photos stored on a NAS

Sorting iPhone photos stored on a netfear readyNAS Duo under windows
I have a set of photos taken with another camera which I sync to my iPhone 3 GS.  Previously I stored the photos on my windows pc and after syncing they were sorted on my iPhone  alphabetically.
I then deleted the photos from my iPhone, deleted the iPod cache folder that was in the photo directory on my windows pc, and copied them over to my readyNAS duo.  The NAS ( network attached storage) is acessed over wired Ethernet via CIFS.
I then reimported the photos using iTunes, (which created a new cache folder on the NAS) and synced them back to my phone.  After doing this, the sort order for those photos on the phone seems scrambled.
One other thing to note.  Previously the folder synced contained the photos.  Now the folder containing the photos is a subdirectory of the sync folder
Now, I followed another post in this forum whereby the user, storing his photos on his windows pc, deleted his cache folder, resorted the photos via windows explorer, and imported them back in.  This solved his problem.
I tried these steps with the photos on the NAS and this did not work for me.
Any ideas on how to keep my photos on the NAS and have them sorted properly on the iPhone?
    Brad

I use iPhoto for photo storage on my Mac, and the photo placement/order in my iPhoto albums that I transfer to my iPhone match the photo placement/order with the albums in iPhoto.

  • When transferring photos from my Iphone to my pc = no new photos found on Iphone

I want to transfer my photos from my Iphone to my pc. My computer recognizes the Iphone, but always says that he can't find any new photos on the Iphone. Eventhough there are hundreds of new photo's. Any help?

Currently there's no way to get edited photos from an iPhone to a Mac except to email them to yourself.  With the introduction of the iCloud Photo Library then edited versions can be synced between devices.

  • I upload all of my photos from my iphone 5 onto my macbook air to get more space on my phone, and now whenver i try to upload it says there is no more storage or there was a problem transferring a picture. what can I do to get more space onto my iphoto?

i upload all of my photos from my iphone 5 onto my macbook air to get more space on my phone, and now whenver i try to upload it says there is no more storage or there was a problem transferring a picture. what can I do to get more space onto my iphoto? I've tried putting the pictures on flashdrives, but iphoto would no tlet me transfer.

I don't know how large the SSD (solid state hard drive) is, or how big your iPhone 5 is, but with some iPhones having 64GB and some Airs having as little as 64GB and some having as much as 512GB it's not hard to see how storing the contents of your iPhone 5 on your Macbook Air could run you out of space.
Go to the Macbook Air and bring up a finder window and pull the Go menu down and go to the Computer. Right click on the Macintosh HD and select get info. See if there is any available space on the MacBook Air. If not you are out of SSD space (you're storing more on your Macbook Air than it has storage for). I'm not sure if iTunes can store its library on an external hard drive or quite how you would make that happen. But even if you managed that, when the hard drive was disconnected, you would lose access to your library. Using a smart media card might be possible (I don't know) but it would probably be irritatingly slow. If you have a small Air and a big iPhone you might just have to find a different computer to sync to. Just remember a 64GB iPhone is a big chunk of SSD for a Macbook Air. I did it with my previous and my current Air but even my previous one had 256GB and I really just fit.

  • I have deleted my photos but have icloud. when i log into icloud it doesnt give me an option to view these photos at all. my photo stream is only showing photos from another iphone in the house. i am unsure if i do a restore from back up if this will work

I have deleted my photos but have icloud. when i log into icloud it doesnt give me an option to view these photos at all. my photo stream is only showing photos from another iphone in the house. i am unsure if i do a restore from back up if this will work. i really dont want to lose these photos but i am very unsure of what to do to resolve. can anyone please help?
    thank you

If you had Photo Stream enabled with your iCloud account settings on the iPhone, photos in the Camera Roll should have been transferred to your photo steam automatically when the iPhone was connected to an available wi-fi network.
Your photo stream is not available when logging in with your iCloud account with a browser on a computer.
Why were the photos in the Camera Roll deleted?
Photos/videos in the camera roll are included with your iPhones backup. If your iPhone's backup has not been updated since the photos were deleted from the camera roll, you can try restoring your iPhone from the backup.

  • How can I preserve the date and time of photos when moving them from iPhone to iPhoto and then to other folders on my computer?

In the past I’ve had no problem moving photos from my iPhone 4 into various folders on my computer while retaining their original date and time. I would import into iPhoto, then drag the photos from iPhoto into other folders via the Finder or Adobe Bridge (which is my principal image organizer). The original date and time of the photo would always travel with the jpeg into iPhoto and then into other folders. However, sometime during a recent session transferring photos in this way, the dates of the photos started to change at the point when I copied them out of iPhoto. Within iPhoto itself, the various original dates of the photos are retained. But in Finder and Bridge, copies of those same photos all carry the same (worthless) date: the date and time that they were imported from my iPhone. I can’t figure out what would have changed on my Mac to make it start re-dating my photos. I was happily dragging and dropping photos, and suddently I started to lose the original dates. Did I inadvertently change some settings? (I am running OS 10.6.8 and using iPhoto 8.)

(I use iPhoto only to import from my iPhone; I organize all my images, including thousands of RAW files, in folders on a big external drive.)
Why are you using iPhoto at all? use image capture or drag and drop the photos
The problem is that the files I am copying are getting stripped of the EXIF metadata
eliminating iPhoto from your work flow will eliminate one oppertunity to have this happen  For photos in iPhoto it is best to export them rather than drag an drop them - this assures your EXIF and IPTC data is correct and uptodate
Why would I be able, over many years, to retain EXIF metadata in photos imported from an iPhone--then one day find that the same workflow strips such photos of EXIF data?
Because exporting is the supported way to "export" photos - I never drag and drop photos out of iPhoto and I never use thrid party programs on the photos in the iPhoto library - try exporting as suggested above and see if that is the solution

  • My iphoto has an error message when transfer photos from my iphone?

I have a MacBook Pro Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. Processor 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7. 4 GB memory  and an iPhone 4 - iOS 7.1.1 with 13.53 GB.

I received an error message and my photos will not transfer. I tried several things: ejecting my iPhone and disconnecting and turning off and on my computer.
I have never had problems with the iphoto transferring my photos but now I get an error message. This is the message I get: "iPhoto quit unexpectedly." Then OK or Reopen.

  • Some photo folders in my Windows Photo Gallery are listed in iTunes when I sync my iPhone 3GS but the folders are empty

Some photo folders in my Windows Photo Gallery are listed in iTunes when I sync my iPhone 3GS but the folders are empty.  The same photo folders in Windows Photo Gallery are full of photos. How do I fix this?

You may have to try deleting all the music from your phone (by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipping All Music and tapping Delete), then sync it all back on with iTunes in order to fix this.

  • All photos show up in album, but a few are blank (but numbered in order) when clicked on

I have an iPhone 4s that is up-to-date on updates.  Just a few days ago, I went to "Photos" to show someone a particular photo in one of my albums.  (The photo had been taken long ago, not with my iPhone, but with my regular camera, and had been transferred to my phone from my computer.  Everything had always worked correctly.)  When I clicked on that particular photo in the album, what came up was a blank white screen, with only the proper numbering (ex. 23 of 50) and "Edit" at the top of the screen and the "send to" symbol at the bottom of the screen.  I tried to "edit," but the edit screen was frozen.  Any thoughts on this?

    Hi macintoshapple,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If the photos are still in your computer, I would recommend using the iTunes sync feature to remove the photos from your iPhone and then sync them back on. Please use the following article as a reference on photo syncing if you need it.

  • When i imported photos from my iphone to iphoto they show as a box with a dotted outline

I uploaded photos from my iphone to iphoto.  The event boxes say no photos.  But in last import, they are all there as white line outlined boxes.  I can see them when I scroll but not when I stop.  If I click on one I get a triangle with an exclamation point.

That's an indication that iPhoto has broken the link/file path to the original file. make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Edited iPhone 4s pictures do not appear edited when viewed/transferred on a Windows PC.

    Hello All,
When I transfer pictures that are taken and edited on my iphone 4s (using the default camera app) to a Windows PC, these pictures do appear to be edited. I wish to edit the pictures on my camera (quicker), rather than transfer them and edit them on my Windows PC.
By the way, I transfer my photos to my PC simply by opening the iPhone on my PC as a drive, not via iTunes. Must I use iTunes to transfer edited pictures to my computer?
    Thank you!

Snapseed is not a real solution. Cumbersome & awkward way to transfer edited photos from an iphone to a PC. You ultimately only sharing with Google, FaceBook, etc or emailing the pics to yourself. Plus the software costs money, it isn't free, and is ultimately a poor band-aid for something that the Apple product should already do. Customers spent $400-$800 on the phone to begin with, which has a camera & built-in editing tools that do you absolutely no good, because only the original photos can be transferred to PC. Simply ridiculous. Plus the support, pricing, and product info for SnapSeed is poor. A German company that is using Google+ as its website, and has inconsistent & missing info.
I've tried all the PC photo transfer software for iPhone like SnapSeed, TunesGo, etc. They all cost around $30-$40 and up, and ultimate just create more work with awkward & cumbersome sharing, which still is several steps away from truly transferring edited photos. Plus many of these suggested programs only transfer the original photos anyway, so its a wild goose chase. These are not 'solutions' and are crappy workarounds for shortcomings in iOS & Apple products. To compensate for functionality that should already be in the product.
If going the file sharing route, DropBox is way easier, better, & free. Its a much cleaner & faster way to bulk upload edited photos to DropBox, then bulk download those edited photos from DropBox directly to a folder on your PC.
That said, all of this is just ludicrous. Only supporting transferring the original unedited photos to PC, taken by the iphone camera, yet those same photos edited using built-in iphone functionality cannot be transferred to PC, is simple insane. I don't know who or how someone at Apple thought this was acceptable or a good idea, but it is one of many really really poor decisions and shortcomings with the iPhone, iPad, and the management software/support.
Apple really needs to fix this and support transferring edited photos to PC, just like the originals. In fact, who asked Apple to save the originals anyway? I didn't do a 'save as', I edited the original photo. The edited version should be the ONLY version of that photo on my phone, You can't even access the unedited original from the phone itself. So whats the point of saving the original? If a user edits a photo, that's the version they want, not the original...!
    Come on Apple....seriously....?
