Garbled screen refresh after 10.4.4-Update

Hi folks,
after updating to 10.4.4 my PBook (TI,1GHz, ATI9000 with 64MB) did not refresh properly on external screen (1600x1200).
Symptoms: scrolling large text files will result in black lines (about 1/3 in the lower screen) consisting of the last letters of the line displayed properly (similar to a reversed matrix effect).
Or using Word 2004 often results in garbled page views. Only way round is to change screen magnification (eg 100% to 150%). This helps for one or two pages, than every scroll will reproduce the same garbadge.
Any hints?
Maybe using "older" ATI drivers?

Screen refresh after the "Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 16"

Hi, can anyone help.. aside from going back to backup pre update 16, on tuesday installed updated the "Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 16" (from 15) and now Vassal (from vassal.org), using the newly installed JAVA SE 1.6.0_51, has some kind of bug stopping screen refresh and some GUI elements not being displayed in the app.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem ? Do we know if this is a known issue ? And if so, do we have any news about a fix ? and if so, from who ?

Screen flickering after 10.6.3 update

Hi,
Am using a Samsung 22" SyncMaster monitor with my 2009 Mac Mini connected via VGA with resolution 1680 x 1050 at 60Hz and after 10.6.3 update the screen flickers allowing me to see the desktop for around 1-2 seconds. Its really annoying but the only way to get rid of it is if i change the resolution to 1600 x 1000 also at 60 Hz but everything is blurry!
I checked the monitor manual and its recommended resolution is 1680 x 1050 at 60 Hz.
Does anyone else have this issue and is there a fix?!

Yes, I have the exact same problem.
I had this problem in 10.5.X as well. When I updated to Snow Leopard this went away. Now with 10.6.3 it is back again.
I worked around this problem in 10.5 by installing switchResX and playing around with the settings for the monitor... I haven't tried that in 10.6.3 yet.
I hope Apple fixes this soon. Being forced to use 3rd party software just to use the mac is unacceptable.

Screen flickering after iOS 6.1 update and some apps crashing frequently on my iPhone 4 .. I didn't have this in 6.0.1 back when people complained about it

hello, I had no keyboard flickering issues back when my iPhone 4 was on iOS 6.0.1 then I updated to 6.1 yesterday and now I have apps crashing frequently and keyboard flickering? anyone else having the same issue after the update? any known solution?

I'm having the same issue on my iPhone 4 since yesterday when I updated to iOS 6.1 from 5.1.1.
After about an hour after the upgrade, it crashed/rebooted itself and went completely white/grey screen with a brighter white line in the middle. My power/sleep button was broke already, so I couldn't do anything on it. I left it to drain the battery for about 6 hours. During that time, the edges around the white/grey screen became darker and darker like burn-in effect. After it ran out of the battery, I connected the phone to the PC through USB and iTunes let me restore it to iOS 6.1 firmware I downloaded before.
The restore was successful, but the entire screen keeps flickering rapidly, not just a part of the screen.
Is it hardware or software related issue?? Any idea?

T60 Laptop Doesn't Display On-Screen Volume After Hotkey Features Integration Update

I have a ThinkPad T60 (2008-HC6) laptop running Windows 8 Pro (32-bit). Today (1-24-2013), I installed the "Hotkey Features Integration for Windows 8" update that was released on January 18, 2013. After reboot, the on-screen indicator that pops up when I change the volume on my laptop by pressing the volume up, volume down, or mute keys doesn't show up. The keys work fine, but the indicator doesn't display.
I've already tried looking for a solution online. One common solution, installing Lenovo Energy Management, didn't solve my problem. No other software was changed on my laptop between when the power indicator last worked and when I installed the Hotkeys update.

I figured out the problem was with the "On Screen Display" portion of the update. This particular update has two parts to it. First, it adds the "Lenovo Patch Utility" program. Second, it updates the "On Screen Display" program, assuming that an older version was already on the computer being updated. Adding the "Lenovo Patch Utility" didn't cause any harm, but updating the "On Screen Display" prevents the on-screen volume indicator from displaying.
Ultimately, what I ended up doing was removing the "On Screen Display" with the same utility that I used to update it. Then I downloaded the next newest version of the utility and installed that utility's version of the "On Screen Display" program.
My on-screen volume indicator is now back and running fine.

Grey Screen Freeze after 10.6.7 update

I have 2 iMacs. My wife's is 2008 3.06 Ghz 24" model with Snow Leopard. Just updated to 10.6.7, and on re-boot we entered perpetual grey screen freeze ups. Followed guidance from support article - specifically to remove peripherals (attached were 2 USB devices - HP inkjet printer and WD 500G portable HD used as Time Machine. Also connected to LAN via RJ-45) After re-boot I changed network to airport to access LAN. When I re-inserted ethernet jack the grey screen immediately came up. Tried various combinations and ethernet connect always kills machine. Any ideas? I'm holding off on 10.6.7 update for other iMac.

Because I've had strange problems with past system update downloads, I now always get my system updates from http://support.apple.com/downloads/
I always use the Update Combo version. It installs a fresh set of all previous updates as well as the new one. This gives you a fresh beginning with system 10.6.x. Since I adopted that practice, I've had no more issues with updates.

Upper part screen darkens after EFI 1.1 update

After the EFI 1.1 update I am experiencing some problems with the screen of my iMac core duo 20". In OSX, after my mac turns back on from sleep-mode, after a few seconds the upper part of my screen darkens. It looks like the backlite panel dims slightly on the upper part.
The strange thing is it doesn't happen when I boot in Windows XP with bootcamp. I thought I was experiencing hardware problems. But this can't be the case because it works fine in XP... Anyone

Nope, didn't work.
Strange thing is: I've worked on my machine the whole day without any problem. But... when my iMac goes to sleep and wakes up, the problem appears in a few seconds. The whole screen darkens a few tints, and the upper part of the screen darkens a bit more.
If anyone knows a way to undo the 1.1 update. I can't find the 1.0 version anywhere on the apple site...

Viewer Screen Black after Mavericks and Apertutre updates

Hello All, I have updated to Mavericks on my home iMac that is a few years old, and a new one at work that is 6 months old. Everything was fine and then I updated to Aperture 3.5. Now on BOTH machines, I am able to see all of my images in browser view fine. In split view the images in the filmstrip at the bottom of the screen are still fine, but the main image being viewed is black. In full viewer the image is completely black. It will indicate loading, show all photo info at the bottom of the viewer, but load as a black image.I can use an external editor PS5 without issue. I have completed the three step for the library first aid. When opening Aperture, the image may flash on the screen for a split second, and then show as black.
Apple support only seemed interested in having me sign up for Apple Care, even though this is a software bug, so this left me a bit unhappy. As a photographer that really needs Aperture running correctly, I'm at a standstill and may need to move to Adobe as an emergency solution.

Weird it is happening on two separate machines. Was the library from one machine copied to the other? What camera and are the originals Raw?
Try making a new empty library and import a few images into it, what happens? If it still fails there try running as a new user or from the Guest account if you have that enabled. Start Aperture and add a few images to a new library, what happens?
Also try looking at one of the original files in Preview, is it OK there?

Screen Ghosting after 2.2.1 update

After updating my iPhone to 2.2.1 I notice some ghost images along the top bar where the clock is.
1. Sleep iPhone.
2. Press Home button.
3. Look at top bar and see a faint image of the time behind the lock icon. Also see faint image of wifi indicator next to actual wifi indicator. Also see faint Cell reception bars next to actual bars.
4. Slide to unlock. Top bar is OK.
This issue is not reproducable when the iPhone is plugged in.
I do not have a passcode lock turned on but the results are similar.

So I had to do a restore without selecting a backup of my iPhone to correct this issue. I'll leave this open in case anyone else searches for the same issue for now...

Cannot change lock screen wallpaper after 4.4.2 update to Xperia Z1

So I updated via PCC to 4.4.2 (14.3.A.0.681) and now the lock screen wallpaper is stuck to the "Air" theme wallpaper. Regardless of theme change or attempting to select custom wallapaper, the lock screen wallpaper does not change. I've tried going through the settings menu, the Album app, and the Photos app, but none of them can change the wallpaper. I've tried clearing all data from the lock screen app, force-stopping it, but no luck. Multiple restarts do not help.

How do I get pictures in Contacts to appear full screen when the phone rings instead of as a thumbnail?

Sorry, you can't, as it was a change made by Apple with iOS 7.1. There are no settings to change it.

Edit screen explodes after 10.6 update

Trying to apply edits in full screen mode after my 10.6 update causes the screen to completely wig out on me. The edits seem to work normally on the photo itself but the display will go anywhere from slightly fuzzy to completely illegible. I can back out of full screen and enter back in but the display is still very hit and miss.
Anyone know a fix to this? I've already sent Apple a feedback notice.

This has affected a number of users and currently there is no fix. Have you tried editing in Window mode?
