Garbled "underwater" distortion in itunes

If i leave itunes on for a while, then the music it plays starts to sound like it is under water... there is this strange sound distortion. It is not resolved by closing Itunes and re opening and is only resolved when i reset my computer. Usually itunes runs just fine. How do i fix this, it is very annoying to have to reset my computer just for itunes. Thanks.

  • Sound distortion in iTunes and not in other players

    Hello,
I've been experiencing some terrible sound distortion with iTunes that I don't have with any other player (WM player for instance).
I installed version 6 and this doesn't fix any issue.
This doesn't cause any problem when transferring files to iPod but still, have to be fixed!
Has anyone a clue or already fixed this in windows XP?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I have same problem with my iTunes 6.
You can try this(Helps for me):
    1. From the Start menu, select Settings and open the Control Panel
    2. Double-click the Multimedia or Sound, Speech & Audio devices icon,
    3. Select Sound and Audio Devices, click the Advanced Audio button
    4. Select the Advanced tab then
    5. Select the Performance tab and find the Hardware Acceleration slider control
hardware acceleration should be set at full.
sample rate conversion quality should be set at best.

  • Distortion through itunes playback

I am getting a distorted sound on listening to Itunes on my PC. Downloading to my Ipod is fine, listening to a CD is fine , listening via Windows Media or Real Player is OK.
This began just 3 weeks ago but had been fine the last couple of years. I'm using the latest version of ITunes.
Is it my PC or is there a fault with the settings of my Itunes?

You may want to check your soundcard output in QuickTime. See this post for directions on the process: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa;jsessionid=aXxb7IZbMDPmI_4E?messageID=814726&ft=y&#814726
And this Article: iTunes and QuickTime for Windows: Songs and other audio don't play correctly
And before you do any of the above, make sure that you have all the recent Windows Updates from windowsupdate.com. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your particular sound card, and make sure you have the latest DirectX installed. Any of these could also cause this problem without QuickTime being the culprit.

  • Sound Distortion with Itunes 7 Upgrade

There's a lot of talk about the audio distortion. Those that didn't have success with changing the Quicktime Sound Output, try the follwing..
Disable Crossfade in Itunes. Under Edit-->Preferences on the Playback tab.
    Uncheck Crossfade Playback.

I'm afraid I wasn't using Crossfade in the first place, so this solution doesn't work for me.

  • USB Headphones, sound distortion in iTunes

    Hi,
I recently purchased a set of Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Headphones. They do have a specific driver, and are automatically installed when you plug them in. I run 32 Windows Vista.
The sound when listening to music or video through iTunes crackles and pops some. Listening to the same files in Windows Media Player yield no such distortion. I imagine it must have something to do with an audio codec or some quicktime setting, but I am not good enough to know where to start messing around.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Andy

  • Garbled arabic text in itunes

My arabic text showed fine when I was using iTunes in Windows. However, on my MacBook the arabic titles of songs are garbled and in strange characters.

You may need to convert your id3 tags to unicode.  There is an app called ID3Mod that can help.

  • How do I minimize sound distortion from iTunes?

I seem to get audio distortion from time to time while playing iTunes thru an external amp and speakers.
when this happens, I shut everything down and then power up.
    Suggestions?
    Cheers,

If you downloaded the book from iTunes via your computer, sync your iPod, iPad, or iPhone and it should transfer there automatically.  Just make sure you have checked the appropriate boxes (which books to sync etc.) before you click sync.
If you downloaded the book from iTunes via your iPod, iPad, or iPhone, then it should appear right there at the iBooks app.

  • Has anyone successfully solved the distorted playback (itune

Once upon a time, iTunes worked great! Music played without
any distortion. Now, a song will play for a minute or so then the sound breaks up, distortion etc. If I pause the song and click the play icon, it plays a little longer then
repeats the distortion and chopped sound. I've tried upgrading to the latest software and still the problem exists. Tried a few things mentioned on the forum and still the same results. Any help is much appreciated. BTW:
Playing the songs from the iPod is perfect. Laptop is a Pentium 4 with lots of space, speed and room for growth.

I would bet it was LR.  LR print settings are confusing but you should have no problem with PS.  However, LR will do what you want without any add-ins like EPP.  How versed are you in the use of LR?  You probably need to bone up on how to set it up to print.  Are you going to 'Page Setup' on the left side of the screen first?  You should.
Moderately capable with LR. However, haven't printed that much.  I remember having some trouble with
    it when I last tried.
I'll mess with it in the next couple of days and see how it goes.  I'll also try to read up on it at the same time.
    Thanks.

  • Audio distortion in iTunes... no distortion with same file in QT...

I've noticed a horrible low-end distortion when listening to audio files in iTunes...it sounds really muddy... almost as if the speakers are blown. However, the distortion is gone when I listen to the same files in Quicktime. I've turned off the Sound Enhancer, gone through every menu setting that I can think of... all EQs are off... I'm clueless. Any clues? Should I reinstall iTunes?

I was sufficiently piqued by this problem to go as far as clean reinstalling the OS to see if any software conflict was interfering with the ITunes playback in this way. I can now tell you that with a pristine computer running 10.5.8, the distortion still occurs. BTW, I upgraded to 10.6 briefly before doing the clean reinstall, and the same distortion was present.
Next step was to throw out ITunes 9 and install 8.2.1 on the clean computer. Guess what? The distortion on the test track (a demo track from a trumpet practice play along CD) is gone!
I think I've definitively established that there is a problem with the audio quality in ITunes 9. I'm not a expert, of course, so I wouldn't know why this would be, but it seems like the new version adds some harmonic distortion somewhere in its output, independently from Quick Time. While this one track is the most noticeable instance (and how my attention was called to this problem in the first place), I can also definitely hear degradation in audio quality comparing HQ MP3s on a computer running 9 vs. 8.2.1, using the same audio interface (Apogee Ensemble) output and monitors.
I hope Apple reads these boards!

  • .mov files play w/ distorted sound, iTunes ok

Newly developed problem, results in distorted audio playback from .mov files when played in Mozilla 3.6, Safari 5, using a mozilla reported 7.6.6 plugin. The same file downloaded and played in QT X is also distorted. However, iTunes audio is fine.
    Here's an example link: http://www.mupromo.com/
    For the record"
    15 inch MacBook Pro (pre-unibody)
Mac OS X Snow Leopard, fully up to date
Quicktime 10 and Quicktime Pro 7 installed
Also, I've done the trick where one moves the plugin file out of, and then back into the Library folder to get Mozilla to recognize the current version.
    Any help appreciated

    My apologies...
Looks like an odd hardware problem. Turns out all audio on MacBook was affected when playing through external speakers. Headphones work just fine. To confuse things even more, an iPod plugged into the external speakers works just fine. It's only when the external speakers are connected to the MacBook that the audio distortion becomes an issue. Time to lift a ground, I think...

  • Sound is fuzzy/distorted on iTunes?

I have the latest version of iTunes, and the sound is distorted/fuzzy at points. I've used multiple output devices and it's the same result with sound being poor. Sound on the internet is fine and other applications so it's definitely iTunes. Any solutions to fix this problem? Is it the EQ (if so how do I change it)? Thanks.

    Exit iTunes
Go to this page: iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
Click on the blue "Download" button
this will download an alternative 12.1 installer
depending on your browser / settings, the installer may run immediately, or you may have to separately run the "itunes64setup.exe" file
After the installation process has finished, restart iTunes
This "for older video cards" version seems to address the playback issues that many people have encountered with the default iTunes 12.1 for 64-bit Windows.

  • Background color distortion/for itunes and desktop

hot pink.. red, and purple. itunes, the top right icons, (display, sound, date/time) are all hot pink
as is the photo that is my screen saver are all bright colors. from where? i did calibrate the monitor yesterday, but photos look fine in photoshop, any ideas what button i hit?

    Hi Satyadev,
    You have 3 options:
Within the forms builder you can get a white background by setting the form to either "border" or "no border".  This is done by clicking anywhere on the form (where there is no other element) and modifying the "style" property
You can modify the portal theme so that the background colour is your choice.  However this will affect all forms in the portal, not just this one.
Or you can manually modify the form XSL stylesheet.  This involves typing the html code to apply your chosen colour.  However, this modification is lost if you re-generate the XML forms project, so this should be a last resort.
    Hope this helps,
    Chris

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.
