Thanks danieldesira, installed "Add-on Compatibility Reporter " and now the garmin communicator plugin is running in Firefox 5 beta along with other plugins that wouldn't work prior to installing Add-on Compatibility Reporter .

Garmin Communicator Plugin

I have just Downloaded 'Garmin Communicator Plugin' so that I can down load new mapping software etc for my Sat Nav. I have Installed the software and got a window saying 'Installation Successful' but then I get a window saying that the software cannot be located on my computer. Anyone have any ideas?

The bad news is, it still doesn't work in Safari 4.
As before, Help > Installed Plug-ins shows it as installed, but the test page says it is "NOT detected."
As before, it still works in Firefox.
Another interesting tidbit: something strange happens to Safari's JavaScript support whenever I go to the Garmin test page. I haven't thoroughly investigated it yet, but certain JavaScript methods stop working--in all windows--until Safari is restarted.

I have updated FireFox plugins today. I have cleared download history. I have set up folder for downloads. Every time I go to Garmin and try to download to get current map updates a message comes up "Garmin Communicator could not be installed because it is not compatible with FireFox 5.0?

Hi there, I've just bought a new Garmin GPS for car. To start it up you need to register the unit. To register the unit you have to download their plug in. When I try to I get a message to say that it isn't compatible with Firefox 5. I'd rather not change from Firefox, so I'm just wondering if it will be compatible in the near future? It appears to have been compatible with Firefox 3.6+ - so perhaps you could tell me how to revert to that if possible for now? Thank you, Eva

Compatibility of the Garmin Communicator Plugin is up to Garmin. Look for an updated version of that Plugin at the Garmin web site.

Are the plugins Flash 11.1.102.55 and Java SE 6 U 29 6.0.290.11 compatible with Firefox 8 for Windows XP SP3?

I have found information leading me to believe that compatibilities between Java SE6 U29 6.0.290.11 and Flash 11.1.102.55 plugins for Firefox 8. Would someone please confirm or deny weather these plugins are compatible with Firefox 8?

I updated to Firefox 8, however, the Java Console 6.0.29 is disabled, even though I tried to enable it when Firefox 8 install came back with a dialog box showing the plugins that were installed by 3rd part software.
When I go to the Java web page to check Java - Java works. Also, when trying to use a Java based web site, this too seems to work.
So what is the purpose of Java Console 6.0.29 plugin and should I be concerned that is is disabled?

firefox keeps asking me to download latest version of the browser, but then says freemake video converter plugin is not compatible and will be disabled. i dont want to stop using FVC.

Google talk video plugin does not work any more with Firefox 4. When clicking on the video chat icon, I am repeatedly asked to install the plugin, and it never works.

Google talk audio/video plugin used to work fine on Firefox 3, but does not work anymore on Firefox 4. Every time I click on the video chat icon on google talk, I am asked to install the plugin, even if I have already installed it before. The plugin works properly on the latest version of IE on the same PC.
Thanks for your help. I do not want to switch to Chrome or Opera, but if this bug is not fixed, I will have to.

Not sure if installing IE 9 did it or not but I now see the camera in IE, FF and Chrome. Could be Facebook fixed the problem also.

Why does plugin-container.exe not start up with Firefox 3.6.15 anymore?

I have Firefox 3.6.15, Firefox 4.0 RC1 and Pale Moon 3.6.15 on my PC. Even though each .exe file is in a separate folder, if I start up say, Firefox 4.0 RC1 for awhile and then close it and start up Firefox 3.6.15 my settings are messed up and I have to fix some of them. I just noticed in Task Manager that plugin-container.exe does not start up with FF 3.6.15 and FF 4.0 RC1 and Pale Moon 3.6.15 anymore. I'm not sure what I did to cause this. I even went into Mozilla's folder and tried to start up plugin-container manually, but it does not start up. I'm at a loss, do I have to do a clean install of three browsers to fix this?

It is caused by Firefox asking plugins like Flash to remove their cookies and other locally stored data.

Lots of extensions and plugins were not compatible with firefox 6. Is this the same with firefox 7???

I have always updated firefox until version 6 which I uninstalled and now I have version 4. Version 6 was not compatible with several extensions such as adobe flashplayer, some java.... too many. Version 7 will have the same problems? I will not update my version if those problems continue.

Plugins (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) like the Adobe Flash player and the Java plugin are not affected by updating and should still be working.
Extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like the Java Console extension have a minimum and maximum version and may get disabled.<br />
Extensions are provided by third-party developers and it may take some time to have them updated or the creator may decide to stop the support for the new Firefox version and abandon the extension like happened with the Google Toolbar.

This is the same problem with a new symptom. Following the Adobe troubleshooting process I uninstalled ver 9,0,45,0 of Flash plugin. I noticed that Flash ver 10 was listed--this is the version that failed to install correctly. I tried to uninstall it, and the Adobe uninstaller said to close Firefox, but Firefox was closed.

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.

The plugin says that Firefox does not allow it.

You can turn off compatibility checking, but more and more of the Google Toolbar will not work. Google is no longer supporting the Google Toolbar so you should use the alternatives.

When Firefox launches a window opens that says a plugin for Kaspersky is not compatible with firefox. I have to close that window fefore firefox will lsunch.

I have gone into options, General, Extensions. This Kaspersky add-on is not present. Kaspersky used to be my anti virus software. I called my self deleting that software. I don't know where firefox is getting it.
Firefox is my default browser. I cannot launch links without closing the error window that comes up.
I am considering deleting firefox and reinstalling. Just haven't done that yet.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)
