Garmin Nuvi 765T Bluetooth Phantom Unknown Caller Issue...

I recently got a new Nuvi and synced it with my Storm. It worked great until I did some voice dialing via the Nuvi interface. Now, every time the 2 pieces sync up with one another over bluetooth, I see a phantom incoming call from "unknown caller"...it doesn't matter whether I push accept or ignore, the Garmin accepts the call and treats it like a real call, preventing me from placing any out-bound calls through the Garmin unit. I'm asking here because the Garmin folks knew nothing about the issue. I'm thinking it may have something to do with blackberry/Garmin interaction? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

i have exactly the same problem with the nokia 5800 & the garmin 765t.  One of the reasons i chose this unit was for the handsfree capability.   Surely the latest nokia xpressmusic should be compatible - according to Garmin the xpressmusic 5610 is.  Like BuNka i can accept calls via the unit, but not make them - i get a message on the phone when i dial out on the 765t but it quickly disappears and the call isn't made, though just once it did actually make a call, but i can't get it to repeat that. I have tried pairing both ways, i.e. phone to satnav, and satnav to phone - makes no difference, and also, when the satnav is paired it changes the default handsfree on the phone to  bt handsfree device (?). To get it back to normal i have to unpair the devices.  I have the latest firmware/software on both devices.
Another problem is that when the units are paired, the first incoming call i get rings on the satnav & the phone. But for subsequent incoming calls the phone doesn't ring or vibrate even though these are set on, and the satnav makes no sound either. The incoming call is shown on both units, but there is no alert tone.  I missed several calls before i realised this was happening. To get the phone to work properly i have to unpair the 765t on thre phone then switch the phone off and on again.  This is really **bleep**!!!!!!!!!!!!  I have emailed garmin but they aren't much help - they just say the phone isn't in their compatible list.. which it isn't.. but it SHOULD be!!  I guess the message is if you have a nokia 5800 dont expect handsfree from the Garmin 765t....

  • Palm Pre and Garmin Nuvi 765T

I have a Garmin Nuvi 765T and am trying to pair the pre with it.  However, the Garmin can see the pre but connection fails.  The garmin attempts, I guess, to use the passkey 1234 but the 2 never connects.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I also have a Pre and as you mentioned, the Garmin sees the Pre but cannot pair (the pre never asks for pascode (1234) input.  It worked flawlessly on my Samsung Instinct.  The address book was transfered nicely!
Interestingly, I started with a 265WT and it synced with the Pre w/o problems.

  • "Unknown Caller " issue

I have synced my iPhone with the Outlook. Sometimes, when I receive a call the name of the caller is not displayed, rather "Unknown Caller" gets displayed on the iPhone, while the number is already there in the iPhone's contacts list.

Probably means the caller is withholding their details - whether or not they know they are. They may be ringing from work and the employer's phone system is set up this way. This will apparently override the fact that you have them in your contacts.

  • Would a rear view camera work with a garmin nuvi GPS

If I buy a garmin nuvi with Bluetooth would a Bluetooth rear view car camera work with it.

Only a few garmin models allow a back up camera to be connected. Check the link below for what garmins have this option.

The Garmin 760LMT is the only one I could find on BestBuy.com that has this options.

You will also need a cable and a back up camera for it to work.

  • MBP Bluetooth connection to Garmin nuvi

    Good morning, everyone!
I am trying to figure out if it is possible to pair my MBP (C2D) with my Garmin nuvi 660 gps unit. Rather, I've been able to pair the two devices, but the nuvi expects to be paired to a phone, so it doesn't recognise the MBP or any files I try to send. Basically, I want to be able to send image files and mp3's to the nuvi.
Does anyone have any ideas on this? (I've also posted this question on a couple of gps boards.)
    Thanks!

I have the same problem. I think that neither of the companies have the will to solve this issue.  I have always been a fan of Nokia, so this is really disappointing.

  • Bluetooth and direct call from Outlook 2010 issue

    Hello.
I connect Nokia 5300 via Bluetooth and can call from Nokia Communication Center. But when i try to call from Outlook, phone begins dialing and immediately shows strange icon "D" and break dialing.
If i connect via USB - all work without any problems - form Nokia Communication Center and from Outlook also.
In OS Nokia is shown as Standard Modem via Bluetooth (Microsoft)
    PC Suite 7.1.6
    Windows 7 x64 Ultimate RUS SP1
    Outlook 2010 x64

    Workstations are on a domain
Also it may appear to be more of a issue with 2000 .pub type of files.  As users can create a 2010 .pub file and it works great fine.  But every time a user opens a 2000 .pub file via outlook and tries to edit and save it requests the
user to do a save as, vs. save to outlook temp location.

  • Problems Pairing with Garmin Nuvi 265W

Bought a new Garmin Nuvi 265W GPS. Set the unit up. It paired immediately with iPhone and worked without issue. Then as a last step in the setup I registered the Nuvi with Garmin. Big mistake. During the registration Garmin wrote something to the Nuvi and toasted the iPhone pairing. Unit goes into an on/off do loop. Resetting and restoring doesn't help. Unpaired the iPhone and deleted it from the Nuvi so at least it's back working. Garmin doesn't know why what they write during the registration process causes the problem and said there is no way to go back. I've got V2.2 on my iPhone. Anybody have a similar problem and know of a work around to get the pairing to work again?

I bought a Garmin 265WT recently and could pair my iPhone 1st generation to the unit but it would constantly reboot the Garmin unit. After reading all the support forums and upgrading to the latest software releases on both my iPhone and Garmin 265WT
I could not get the problem resolved running the below software/firmware:
    iPhone 2.2 and 2.2.1
Garmin 4.8 with Bluetooth Firmware 1.7
I finally called Garmin and they shipped me another unit. The new unit worked without any problems even with older software and firmware. Seems as if the reboot problem might be more than just software and firmware related.
My iphone at this point is running 2.2.1 but the below software and firmware revisions of the new Garmin 265WT worked:
The new unit came with software:
    Software Version 4.40
    GPS SW Version 2.38b
    Bluetooth SW Version 1.65
This worked no problem with bluetooth. No reboots....
    I even upgraded to:
    Software Version 5.0
    Bluetooth SW Version 1.7
The unit still worked no problem. I can only suspect the issue here is hardware related in some cases. So for some people the upgraded software/firmware may work. But if you are running both iPhone 2.2.1 (1st Gen Phone) and the latest software and Bluetooth firmware and still have the problem I would call Garmin and have them replace the unit.

  • Problems pairing with Garmin Nuvi 1310 sat nav

I have been trying to connect to a Garmin Nuvi 1310 sat nav. It set up first time, however when I switch off the sat nav and then turn it back on my phone will not connect automatically. I have to remove it from the list on the Garmin and start all over again. Surely this can't be right, my old iPhone re-connected automatically everytime. Is there a setting I need to adjust?

  • IPhone and Garmin Nuvi GPS

Besides my Motorolla headset, I managed to pair my iPhone to my Garmin Nuvi 360 GPS with no problems. This particular Nuvi model as well as some other Garmin models have Bluetooth built in. The benefits of this device is that besides the wonderful Nuvi GPS features, the device is also a car kit with speaker and microphone. What I found quite remarkable was that during the pairing, the entire phonebook I have on my iPhone came over as well. So, when someone on that list calls, their name comes up on the touch screen. Or if you want to call someone, either click through or search the directory on the Garmin. Very cool.
    Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

iPhone works with my Garmin Nuvi 360 via bluetooth, downloaded address book and all, but after a day or two the connection stops working (iPhone says they’re paired, but Nuvi doesn’t show phone icon) and I have to manually set up the connection again. Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks.

  • Garmin nuvi 1450

    Hello
I bought garmin nuvi 1450LMT gps at best-buy buffalo, NY (2nd OCT 2011)
I used this gps about 10 month but I live in korea
so I used this one when I visit US & Canada, it was just 4 times.... (I'm airline crew)
last week I used this gps at Atlanta highway, it was hot & sunny day....
suddenly this gps shut down, and did not work anymore
it was so terrible, it was about 70 mile/hr and I didn't know my way.....
so I stoped car out of next exit, I cooled down the gps by a car airconditioner
after 10min the gps turned on....
I think this gps had a serious problem.... and I did not live in US & CANADA
(that means I can not wait your repair service.... and I think you can not found fault in gps)
so could you refund this gps or change to another gps...?
I will visit vancouver at  9th AUG , in this week
and can I deal this process at best-buy richimond (in lansdowne centre) ?
if It is impossible, my next US schedule is 14th AUG, next week, I will fly to washington D.C
I can go to best-buy  TYSONS CORNER VA (Store 397)
    I will wait your reply....

That would actually not be anything to do with neglect as it was used as the manufacturer intend. The plan does cover heat damage as well so it won't be an issue. Some GPS's are swapped in store while some must be sent off for service. You can do it at any store. I would call the store you are going to be at and have them run it through there system to see if yours is an in store swap one or a repair. The majority of Garmin's used to be in store swap but this was awhile back.

  • Unknown caller, no ID

On my new Verizon iPhone, if I miss a call from a caller who is not in my contacts, there is no caller ID number displayed in the log; "Unknown Caller" is all that is displayed. My previous Verizon phones showed the originating number, so I expect the iPhone should also. Is there a setting that I can make?
    Thanks for any advice.

to be honest these are the solutions that may or may not work..
first thing I would try is rebooting the phone by holding the sleep/wake button and home button for 15 seconds until you see the white apple logo
if that doesn't work I would restore from backup and if that doesn't work I would restore as new if all else fails take it to your closest apple store they may replace the phone for a working one..
Did you even read the OP's question? Its probably just a random carrier issue, these things happen once in awhile. If it continues to happen and it bothers you that much call Verizon.

  • 1.1.3 Update Doesn't Work with Garmin Nuvi

I have been using my iPhone with a Garmin nuvi 680. So far it has worked very well as a hands-free speaker, that is untill last night when I upgraded to 1.1.3. Since the upgrade my Bluetooth connection to the nuvi is shot. I get an initial connection, but every minute or two it warns me that my phone has been disconnected. You can imagine that this gets quite old after a dozen or so warnings.
I have unpaired my iPhone and paired it again to no avail. I have reset the iPhone and I will try again. What else should I try?

I restored my iPhone last night and reloaded my latest backup. That didn't fix the problem at all. Next I am going to try restoring and starting from scratch. Maybe that will work better.
What I am thinking I'll do is do a clean restore, no backup just a new 1.1.3 iPhone and then test the Bluetooth with the nuvi. If that works, then I'll load all my info back to the phone manually. If it doesn't I'll restore the backup and wait for a fix.

  • Unknown Caller ID from a Contact in my Address Book

Hello. My girlfriend has an iPhone 4 on AT&T and I have a Verizon iPhone 5. When she calls her Caller ID information appears but when she leaves a voicemail is it listed as Unknown Caller. I have been having this problem since I had the iphone 4. i tried Network Reset and deleting her information and adding it in.  Has anyone else experience this issue and if so, how can it be resolved. Many Thanks.

Comtact your carrier and/or have her contact hers. This is not a phone problem, it's a carrier problem.

  • IPhone and Garmin Nuvi 660 pair!

Thought I would mention that the iPhone successfully pair with the Garmin Nuvi 660 via Bluetooth, AND all of the address book entries (including multiple numbers) gets transferred to the Nuvi for use. Great feature to dial while on the road without even taking the iPhone out....

I have not had any problems; I get in-and-out of the car and each time the two devices have successfully paired. I once turned off BT for a while in the iPhone but had no problems when I turned it back on and then later got in the car to go somewhere. I keep my Nuvi plugged in all the time -- maybe that makes a difference? Do you unplug your Nuvi when leaving the car and then replug it when starting out again?
