10.5 - 10.6 installation instructions (wipe and installmethod)
Make certain you have backed up your vital data ontoanother drive or cd/dvd's before proceeding.
Disconnect all other drives, hold c and boot offthe 10.5 disk that came with your computer (free iLife included), andselect Disk Utility from the Utilities menu, selecting your internaldrive,Erase> Format HFS+ Journaled > Security Option > ZeroAll Data >Ok (wait for a  hour or so)
When it's finished, Quit Disk Utility and your back into the OS XInstaller, install OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Once that's finished, reboot and do the setup like a new machine.
When that's done and your in, stick in the OS X 10.6 disk and runthe installer to upgrade you to 10.6 Snow Leopard.
When that's done, do a Software update. We are at 10.6.8 now.

  • Problem/issue of nVidia GTX660M on GE60 0ND-298 with Windows 8.1

    Hi folks,
I am newbie here, so please forgive me,
if my post is too long and ugly.
I have "almost" the same problem as the user called "Ghost", but in my case there
are few differences. I am too user of MSI GE60-0ND notebook, but the version is 298CZ (MSI GE60 0ND-298CZ).
    some short info about me:
I am sort of experienced in PC maintenance, driver repairs, and software installing and setting up.
I had successfully and correctly helped at least  ca. 35+ people (including few relatives and friends)
with some problems regarding their desktop PCs or notebooks,
mainly they needed from me to solve some specific problem - some reinstall or
correct install/set up of the OS and drivers and etc. or other software programs they need to use in everyday life.
I had correctly updated/reflashed BIOS or firmware on more than 25 PCs (on ca. 4-5 PCs in last 4 months).
but I am not very skilled in PC HW reparation and assembly.
The problem I had is possibly simple (or not), but until now I couldn't find the working solution written
on the MSi Forum/thread or anywhere on the internet.
I have everything up to date, including Windows OS (8.1), drivers, BIOS and EC/FW from MSI
(as you can see from specs taken from Speccy 1.25, DxDiag, nVidia control panel and other software).
Well (or not?), the problem is that high demanding apps, like modern games or some CAD software/benchmarks i had recently
tested shown that my notebook is only using
the Intel HD4000 Graphics (in all situations even when it shouldn't) and not the dedicated high-performance
    nVidia GTX660M graphic.
I even used the nVidia Inspector 1.7.2 from the thread of Ghost's problem with the same nb/graphic card.
I played HL2 Ep Two and One, Garrys Mod 14.022 (latest), IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 with Ultrapack 2.1 + SAS1946 updates
(with tweaked settings to use high-quality perfection/perfect settings)
to test and look if the dedicated graphics card is working or not. In all cases it shown that the nVidia GTX 660M
didn't even heat up some grade or load up the textures, and it appeared as non active against the HD4000 that run like wild.
In some of the above mentioned games it wasn't sufficient and the games crashed and/or closed suddenly-
that happened in Garrys Mod 14,
something same happened in that modded IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 - but with it it crashed by saying that
    "il2fb.exe has stopped working".
To tell you more, before when i had plain windows 8, it didn't happened even once
(for the IL-2 Sturmovik was and is still set in the compatibility mode for Win XP SP3 - so everything should work),
in the case of HL2 Ep. Two it happened almost same as in Garrys mod 14.x . The game simply shut down and quit,
    and closed without saying anything.
By playing those games, i saw in the taskbar only the icon of Intel HD graphics 4000 looking as active.
The icon of nVidia in the taskbar panel stayed there or sometimes it completely disappeared,
and that indicates that pc was using only the Intel HD4000.
I tried to check for all updates, uninstall and reinstall Intel VGA HD4000 driver with latest official from Intel support,
and also after it by uninstall and reinstall of nVidia GTX660M driver with latest stable driver from nVidia page
with hope that the new drivers would do the thing and repair the errors/issues.
Until now I tried to solve my problem by myself,
but as nothing helped to solve the issue with dedicated nVidia card i had to visit this forum.
The current state of my pc to sum the facts together - to see what could be wrong there:
    PC/Name-type: MSI GE60 0ND-298CZ (late summer 2013)
    OS: Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
Tech specs: CPU - Intel Quad Core i7-3630QM Ivy Bridge 22nm,
    RAM- 8GB DDR3/1600 MHz, HDD- 750GB (7200 rpm),
    1. VGA (on chip)- Intel HD4000, 2. VGA- GTX 660M (2GB DDR5)
    Motherboard: MS-16GA (HM76, rev. 1.0)
    MB-BIOS version: E16GAIMS.514 (12/3/2013, installed 29.11.2013)
EC Firmware version: 16GAEMS1.506 (installed 30.11.2013)
Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver: v10.18.10.3412
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M driver: 334.89 (9.18.13.3489)
    nVidia VGA BIOS Version:   80.07.27.00.05
    Other drivers version
(which may cause the in-activity/problems of GTX 660M card)
    - Intel Control Center v1.2.1.1008 **
    - Intel Management Engine Components (ME) v8.1.0.1281 **
    - Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) v9.0.0.1287 **
    - Intel SDK for OpenCL-CPU Only Runtime Package v2.0.0.37149
    - NVIDIA PhysX System Software v9.13.1220
(** I have found some info that outdated (buggy) Intel ME and MEI drivers, could be the cause why the PC
uses only on board HD Graphics 4000 and can't switch to dedicated GTX 660 M when some app needs it,
could this be the thing or not?
I am really not sure, if it is cause why my PC is sticking on use of only HD4000 VGA.
Should i update the ME or MEI driver to latest stable as mentioned*** or not?
(*** on win-raid com in thread about latest Intel Management Engine Drivers-Firmware and Tools)
I am aware that a careless update of Intel ME or MEI can brick your PC or installed OS and make it unstable,
that is why i don't want to do that thing,
i want do some other way how to solve the correct vga switching issue.
Could you please help me, to detect where is the cause of the problem
and then to help me to solve it somehow ??
Please tell me also, if you need some other info
(i can send the DxDiag report if needed or something similar).
I know that my problem looks same way as had the user called "Ghost",
but in my case the details are a bit different and specific.
I will wait patiently for your advices.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you, for that little advice.
Sorry i didnt answered sooner, was kinda busy last weeks.
I will specify the problem more - explain my investigation about the issue.
But I have GE60 0ND, and i somewhere read (on this forum but in other thread/topic)
that on GE 60 0ND the power button doesnt change its color from blue, either it actually uses Intel HD4000 or nVidia GPU GTX660 M.
If i am not wrong in that, i hope so / i can say that on my lap the power button never changed its color to some other.
It was and still is blue.
What i found from Speccy or from Nvidiainspector soft v1.9.7.2 was that my nVidia is generally
never used - even in games which were more demanding and were set in nVidia control panel to use nVidia GPU only
    and NOT the HD4000.
But i think there is also there some other, far deeper and worser problem.
In last few days I was checking the possible issues with current Intel chipset driver (Intel INF driver - currently v9.3.1025) and also with Intel Mangement Engine drivers (currently ME Components driver 8.1.1281 and ME Interface driver 9.0.1287).
To tell you more, the problem with GPU drivers started shortly after i updated the Win8 to 8.1, but other confusing symptom is that shortly after the pc boots up in to OS environment,
the screen flicker one time and then the nVidia's control panel icon in taskbar will dissapear.
That happens around one to five times in halfhour or hour, after the laptop was turned on. I am very confused, from it, because it looks like the pc is unstable or the Windows Explorer is crashing. After the holfhour it stops doing it, but some time ago i tried to fix it by comletely uninstalling and then reinstalling both of VGAs (HD4000 and nVidia GTX660M) with latest stable and official drivers - but it didnt solved the issue.
Also the icons on the desktop and in taskbar dissapear for a second and then reappear.
I tried to figure it out many times, but found that it wasnt Windows Explorer error. What is this problem?
Is it in INF chispet driver and ME/MEI driver or it is caused by some other corrupted driver?
I even wrote some notes about what I found out.
So there are my findings. The ME and MEI driver are responsible
for deciding the use of and handling interaction between the system's low- and high- performance/importance and on motherboard installed components.
If they are wrong or incompatible it causes some errors or that some of the used component will be not used because of the error.
Also same role, but sorta a bit different has the INF chipset driver, which is sorta above the ME and MEI driver and governs over them and over use of the other
CPU and MB components and periipheral devices, like USB2-3 controllers, Cardreader, charging function etc.
So my question is, i have found on  Intel support Chipset INF driver for 7 series - the v9.4.1027 (November 2013), about which i read
that is also suitable for 7 series express chipsets like HM76/77 (my is 76)- should i try to install these drivers ?
Same, i had a hard work to find more current ME and MEI driver for notebook with Intel's 7 series express chipset
which should solve my problem. I found on Lenovo support webpage ME driver v9.0.1310 (components driver) and MEI driver v9.0.1287(interface),
they are both in one installer.
I read about that installer in description and found out that,
that drivers are useful on any lap with the 7 series chipset.
Just the Lenovo added note that those drivers and higher are usable on some other newly adde types of notebooks.
The provider of the driver was Intel.
I carefully read also some other info, and just few days ago i read also
if someone want/really neeeds to update
Intel INF chipset driver and after it the ME/MEI driver - one should unistall all drivers that are managed by that INF and ME/MEI drivers.
That means both VGA drivers (CPU GPU and dedicated GPU), Cardreader driver, LAN and WLAN drivers,
audio driver, all intel drivers - like Rapid storage, SCM driver and so, and manually uninstall the ME Interface driver through Device Manager too.
My other question is, could someone of you help with this by telling me some other information/advice i possibly completely overlooked.
Currently, my PC is working poorly - not slow, but the blicking of the icons on desktop and taskbar shortly after the system's start up
is totally horrible and the nVidia GPU GTX660M is unable to work (by crashing the Nvidia control panel).
I feel now really lost on this GE60 laptop altough i have good experience how to set PC or notebook.
I never faced this kind of problem - i would be happy if i knew the way how to fix it for once/definitely and use the fullpotential of that notebook.
Every advice or your experience will be very welcomed.
    Thanks

  • Constant restarts after upgrade but apple wont do anything.

    Hello all
I have been having a difficult issue that it seems apple has trouble fixing and so has everyone Ive talked to as well.  I tried the MBP section with no luck so Im going to try here.
After upgrading to Maverick from snow leopard I have started getting GPU panics at a rate of 1 or 2 a week when I had none before the upgrade to Maverick.  I do have a 2010 MBP 15in which I knew could have bad gpu's but I had my laptop checked for the TS4088 error after the first 2 panics.  My machine tested good and passed the VST test or atleast that is what I asked to have run at the store basically i told them i wanted it tested for the ts4088 issue.   Now I gave them the fact of the matter as the first 2 panic seemed to happen in the same application(garrys mod), but now there is no pattern in applications(mail, quicktime, vlc, firefox, word, Premiere).  I have also been having the computer go black recently with no luck getting to wake up as if its forced to sleep but doesn't respond to any commands to wake it back up but also doesn't cause an official crash report to show up.
Now I have reset the SMC/PRAM and updated everything on the system and run a HDD smart test and memory test which all passed.  Now I know the logitech driver doesnt cause the crash as i dont have it installed on my windows/bootcamp side and I get the equivalent of a gpu panic as the kernel crashes on the nvidia card when its active and nothing fixes that as well.
Now i have seen using the gfxCardStatus should fix my issue but I need to use my nvida card for video editing and shot rendering so i cant be stuck on the internal.  I have also exceeded the 3 year length as I was trying to see if i could fix my laptop before handing it over as I cant be without a laptop as they are required for my classes and job at college and since it passed the VST the genius said I would have to pay for the more detailed inspection by the backroom tech's which at the time I didnt want to pay to fail a class.   I showed him the logs but as I only had 2 at the time he told be it must have been that application and sent me on my way as I didnt want to pay for more inspection maybe the tech just too busy as our store is always packed.
This hasn't been my first logic board failure either I had the first go out the first year when the USB  bus gave out from what im guessing was some surge caused by my power brick shorting out internally and almost catching fire.
Here is my most recent crash log this is the exact same message ive been getting for each crash.

So is it possible to past the VST but still have a bad GPU?  I have tried everything I can come up with with no luck so far without resorting to tearing down the laptop and having to inspect the boards with some of my EE friends.   Would running the test again help?

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

  • Constant GPU panics with a twist

    Hello all
I have been having a difficult issue that it seems apple has trouble fixing and so has everyone Ive talked to as well.
After upgrading to Maverick from snow leopard I have started get GPU panics at a rate of 1 or 2 a week when I had none before the upgrade.  I do have a 2010 MBP 15in which I had checked for the TS4088 error after the first 2 panics.  My machine tested good and passed the VST test or atleast that is what I asked to have run at the store.   Now I gave them the fact of the matter as the first 2 panic seemed to happen in the same application(garrys mod), but now there is no pattern in applications(mail, quicktime, vlc, firefox, word, Premiere).  I have also been having the computer go black recently with no luck getting to wake up as if its forced to sleep but doesnt respond to any commands to wake it back up but also doesnt cause an offical crash report to show up.
Now I have reset the SMC/PRAM and updated everything on the system and run a HDD smart test and memory test which all passed.  Now I know the logitech driver doesnt cause the crash as i dont have it installed on my windows/bootcamp side and I get the equivelent of a gpu panic as the kernal crashes on the nvidia card when its active and nothing fixes that as well.
Now i have seen using the gfxCardStatus should fix my issue but I need to use my nvida card for video editing and shot rendering so i cant be stuck on the internal.  I have also exceeded the 3 year lenght as I was trying to see if i could fix my laptop before handing it over as I cant be without a laptop as they are required for my classes and job at college and since it passed the VST the genius said I would have to pay for the more detailed inspection by the backroom techs; otherwise he couldnt do much more for me.  This hasnt been my first logic board failure either I had the first go out the first year when the USB  bus gave out from what im guessing was some surge caused by my power brick shorting out internally and almost catching fire.
Here is my most recent crash log this is the exact same message ive been getting for each crash.

So is it possible to past the VST but still have a bad GPU?

Kernel panics cannot be directly triggered by user applications. It's almost always a hardware problem or a bug in a kernel driver.
The most likely problem is that you've got some bad RAM. The other less likely problem would be a video card driver bug, but I don't see anything like that in your panic log.

  • How to uninstall directx windows 8?

okay so on steam im trying to play Garrys Mod and every time i open it the game closes and gives me an error saying "hl2.exe has stopped working." it happens on all valve games. ive tried everything and now i just want to try to uninstall directx
and download it again to see if that helps.

    Hi,
As S.Sengupta said,DirectX is built in to Windows and can't be uninstalled.
For more information on DirectX, you may visit the link mentioned below:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-8/directx-faq
Regarding the "hl2.exe has stopped working "error,I suggest you perform the following steps to narrow down the issue.
    1.Update your Graphics driver.
2.Temporarily disable Windows firewall and security software.
Meanwhile, since issue is related to Steam,I think we can concact Steam Support for futher help.

  • How to use hamachi to play LAN games?

We (group of 7 friends) played blur by connecting to same wi-fi. What we usually do is create a wi-fi hotspot on a mobile (keeping the data pack off, so no internet access, this is what I like to call offline LAN, all friends connected to the same wi-fi which actually has no internet access), everyone connects to the hotspot. Go to the multiplayer tab on blur, go to LAN, one friend hosts a game, everyone connects to it and starts playing. No other third party softwares like hamachi or tunngle or anything else required. Now we want to play Garrys mod (prop hunt to be precise), but the approach as above does not work with this new game. We all got hamachi, it would not power on untill we turn the data pack of the mobile wi-fi hotspot ON. Is there any way we could play prop hunt the above way? The offline LAN way??

    Hi Pahup,
    Thank you for your reply!!
I adapted an Android App using Flash CC on a Mac. I already published this App for the Apple App Store. When I published the App for Android I chose Air 3.7.xxx for Android. I also created the p12 certificate using Flash CC in the publishing settigns for Android. So my App is theoretically finished and ready for Upload.
When I went to the Google Play Store Developer Console I had the options to
    1.) Upload APK
    or
    2.) Prepare Store Entry
...so I prepared the Store entry first. When I go to "APK"-Tab in the console it looks like this:
... it says "Upload APK" and the Button below "Get Licence Key". When I click on the license Key Button it looks like this:
So I think I should enter this RSA-Key somehow into my App BEFORE uploading it to the Google Play Store. This is recommended when an Ap is set to be paid. My Application is set to paid.
I did not use any kind of licensing API (until now - cause I don´t know how and what it is for)
This is all new to me. It is the first App I want to bringt to the Android market. I really hoped it would be as easy as getting an app into the Apple App Store. I found so many step by step instructions for dummies on "How to get an Flash iOS App into the App Store plus creating all the certificates needed", so I thought it would be the same for Android. But there is no help at all at the moment. I am totally confused.
So any help, hint or instrusction would be great!!
By the way - this is the App I want to get into the Google Play Store

  • Help needed - my sons games...

My son has recently taken over my old PC (elite m9168sc, Quad 6600/3GB/GT8600/WinVista). The computer was formatted and reinstalled. Only extra vould be Symantec Endpoint Protection.
When playing online games as "Garrys mod", Call of Duty and such, the games will not run smoothly...  I have tried changing the grafics card to a slightly newer. The internetconnection is upgrated (8+mbit). I have tried disconnecting the anti-virus...
And when the games dosnt run smooth, he gets killed - and then my very best teeenage son lets it out on me :-(. Suggestions of what i can do more ?

Its pretty easy to upgrade a power supply yourself. There are some very good computer upgrade/repair books that'll aid you and of course youtube videos and websites. Just try googling ""how to upgrade your powr supply" for some good advice.
If you do this, get an antec Truepower 550 or a Corsair 550 and consider a Radeon 5770 for your graphics as its cheap but powerful for games.
I wouldn't buy anything less than a 5750 for gaming or a Geforce 450. Anything cheaper won't be much good on most new games....

  • Can i host small game servers? HL2/Minecraft

Hi, my question here for today is, "Can i host a game server like garrys mod with verizon fios 15/5?". I would like to host a server with 10 people at max. The server wont be on for 24/7 just on the weekends and sometimes on the week days. Is it against the rules to host a server for verizon fios internet? But if it is against the rule, will these small server still effect the bandwidth by a lot that my internet is going to have to get cut off? I also sometimes host minecraft server for just my friend and I, which is about 7 people max.
    Solved!

To host any server you need to have a static IP address. To have a static IP you have to have a business account which is more expensive. So no but it is not for lack of speed. Back in my COD4 clan days we all paid clan fees to pay for a server hosted by some company. That would probably be cheaper than upgrading to a business account anyways. I can't imagine a minecraft server for 10 people would be that expensive
This is incorrect.  A static IP address is not necesary to host a server.  A static IP address is needed to allow consistent access to a server by directly typing in its IP address, but who does that?  As long as you have a Fully Qualified Domain Name (www.examplename.com) there are many options to dynamically monitor and match your ever-changing verizon-assigned IP address to your static (constant) domain name.  It is called dynaic DNS resolution.  You install a small daemon (program) on your server and it monitors your IP address.  When it changes it updates the DNS entry.  It works great.
I just thought I would clear that up, having a dynamic IP address does NOT mean you cannot host a server.
As far as servers being against the TOS of verizon.  That's another thing.  Then you get into the question of what defines a server.  In the simplest sense, every computer is a server in that it "serves" data to other computers.  There are many, many programs that run on typical, consumer PC that "serve" information to multiple machines at once: torrents, games, VPNs, it goes on and on.  Put another way, I run a web server, not through verizon, but it gets almost not traffic, nn the other hand, when I host a game of of this or that, I'm streaming loads more data out to multiple users and at a rate and quantity that dwarfs the traffic from my "web server" or "VPN" server.
Now I just saw the last post above mine.  Very well put indeed.  That is the "reality" of what hosting a server would be like.  Very good reply above.
So, do you see how the term server can be so subjective.  So, the burden of proof falls on verizon to show that you violated the the TOS.  Would it be worth the money to prove it?
No, the whole point is to drive you to purchase a business plan from them.  That's all.  Dont sweat it.  Get DynDNS, and have a blast!\

  • Games Freezing

When ever I try and play a game no matter which one whether its CSR Racing or CSS Garrys mod etc I can play for a few minutes tops and my system freezes up I'm running the latest 21'
    2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i5
    Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
    8GB (two 4GB) memory
    1TB hard drive1
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512MB

I'm guessing that means you have to restart.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • AverMedia LGP Lite - Audio Problem

Hi, i got a problem I got AverMedia Live Gamer Portable Lite GL310. When i capturing my gameplay from PS4, audio from game is not recording My microphone is ok and its work, but game audio no I turn off HDCP,... but still doesnt work! :/ Please help, THANKS. And sorry for my english.

Disconnect any SCEA USB headset from PS4 Or any 3.5mm headset connection on DS4...Exactly like the PS3 when you enable the VSS or DS4 3.5mm game audio encoders the Audio produced is not output via HDMI or optical as its re-encoded for those devices only... It only happens with the Cheap SCEA USB headsets as they don't support optical or External Phono audio like Multi platform USB headsets do... The uncompatable audio is only enabled when you enable "all audio" mode.. This is the SAME encoder system the PS3 used under a different name... stereo headset audio extension now called "All audio mode" on PS4... You can Manualy turn it of the same as the PS3 and the audio goes back to HDMI and optical... The same happens on PS3 but was allways over looked by users for the Price drop of SCEA headset designs.  (You may be using "all audio" mode for "PC only" designed headsets but then they were not built for consoles so have even bigger issues you have been dealing with...)
