GATEWAY MAX ACTIVATE ISSUE

Hi all, I receive a Telstra Gateway Max yesterday to replace my old cable modem. However, I am stuck in the device register page. The erro code is CCP0024. Anyone can help me for this issue? I talked to different Teltra staffs through hotline, some of them were lying to me said the network is down. However I can use my old modem to access the internet. I hate these kind of lying activities.  Cheers,

Hi jobbyjobson,
We’re undertaking a system upgrade this weekend to help us deliver a better, faster service. Right now there are some requests we can’t action immediately such as activating some new devices/services which is what is causing the issues of the OP.
You can still access online services via Telstra.com/upgrade  and our 24x7 App and we can still assist you during this period through our stores and contact centres as well.
Unfortunately, you can’t view your call and data usage online right now – we apologise for this inconvenience. You can still use Telstra services, for example to make and receive calls and texts, and browse the internet as normal. We have extra staff working right now to get services up and running again as soon as we can.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

  • Telstra Gateway Max - Static IP issue

Hi, I just got my new Gateway max modem, I created a static IP for my printer e.g. 10.0.0.50, as soon as I did this I was not able to access the internet, I investigated and relalised that i.e. DNS stopped working. I tried power cycling the modem twice with no success. I decided to remove the static IP and everything worked again. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to fix this ThanksAndrew

    Hi Brodie,
Here are the details of my modem:
    Hardware Version: C6300BD-202
    Software Version: 5510_V10106
    Software Version(Linux): 2.6.30.V1.01.06
Are these the details that you asked for?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Jozef,
I was setting up the Static IP or DHCP Reservation Lease info on my gateway just then.
Just to check you are also doing the same:
    1. you specify the MAC address of the device you want to have a Static IP assigned
    2. assign a nominated IP address
    3. hit the "add" button
    4. hit the 'clear dhcp leases' button
    5. disconnect your device from the network
    6. reconnect the device to your network
NOTE: step 4, is only done to clear the entry against the same MAC address that received a dynamic IP assignment from the table.
Using the above, my macbook pro IP address changed from the dynamic IP to the Static IP i assigned. (see image)

  • How to change default internet access password in Gateway Max (for cable)

Hi All, My home boardband (home bundle with cable) connection has just been installed. I am trying to change the default internet access password. But I can not find out where to set the new password in my Gateway Max configuration page (192.168.0.1).Is there anyone having idea about that please? RegardsCheng

Hi Yeldarb, Maybe I do not describe the issue clearly. The "admin/password" is used for accessing gateway modem configuration page. But it is not what I want now. I am wondering the method for changing the default password which modem use to connect the telstra server. I think every telstra boardband client would have one username/password pair for access internet, right?

  • Usb on gateway max

I might be in the wrong place, apologies if i am.......I'm new to the forum. Just wondering why i cannot access my usb which plugged into my TELSTRA GATEWAY MAX cable modem C6300?Cheers.

TREMASON First, check whether you have Advanced->Content Sharing->File Sharing->USB file sharing enabled in your C6300BD That said, there were some limitations in what size USB drives could be seen by the Gateway in the original firmware version 5510_V10106. A firmware update to 5510_V10402 did address this issue (to what extent I'm not sure), but the rollout of that update was terminated with only some units being updated. Telstra said more recently that a further rollout of an update for the C6300BD is a few weeks away. Maybe that might resolve your problem. Perhaps if you gave some more details of the size, brand, format of your USB device it might elicit some more detailed responses.

  • Telstra Gateway Max aka Technicolor TG799vac lacks basic Quality of Service

Hi, I have recently moved to a plan that included the Telstra Gateway Max for free, and have also recently opted-in to Telstra Air which I think is wonderful. Problem. These Technicolor TG799vac modem/routers which Telstra is providing (are actually a very high quality, highly finished product), are missing 1 key feature. My plan also came with a free T-Box which I can watch Foxtel on T-Box, Presto, Bigpond TV, Bigpond Movies, and other great content. Except the Gateway Max does not have even basic "QoS" features. QoS is an acronym for Quality of Service. It provides that certain traffic on your local network can be marked as a higher priority than other less important content. For instance. VoIP (Voice over IP) usually has #1 priority, usually followed by video, and then other content like HTTP (normal downloads) and Bit Torrent etc are all just normal quality. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_Multimedia_Extensions "Wireless Multimedia Extensions (WME), also known as Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM), is a Wi-Fi Alliance interoperability certification, based on the IEEE 802.11e standard." "It provides basic Quality of service (QoS) features to IEEE 802.11 networks." "WMM prioritizes traffic according to four Access Categories (AC) - voice, video, best effort, and background. However, it does not provide guaranteed throughput. It is suitable for well defined applications that require QoS, such as Voice over IP (VoIP) on Wi-Fi phones (VoWLAN)." This WMM standard is a highly important standard for modem routers because if I'm downloading some random large file on one computer which consumes all available bandwidth (speed), my T-Box instantly degrades and becomes unwatchable. My plan comes with unlimited calls anyway plus my mobile comes with unlimited calls on a Telstra competitor so I don't personally have any use for VoIP. My main concern is the lack of Quality of Service for video content. Given we now have Telstra Air I do wonder what happens when a guest user consumes all available bandwidth (speed) is that going to affect my T-Box negatively? I understand there is QoS built into Telstra Air such that the guest user cannot hog all your bandwidth (preference is given to the host customer over the guest customer) however that's as far as QoS goes with Telstra. I would urge Telstra to pass this post to their development team for consideration, because as it stands the only way for people to get QoS is to buy other non-Telstra modem routers. I can still probably plug Telstras Gateway Max into another modem router that does support QoS which is what I intend to do to solve the problem, but if they could look at addressing this issue the Gateway Max would be a very ideal, very professional modem router that I could recommend to everybody and not bother with the hassle of buying other non-Telstra modem routers.

Telstra Air has built in QoS, there is a specific speed threshold that they can't pass. If your internet speed is too low it won't allow allow fast access to clients.
The real truth is all those features are available on your modem but have been disabled by Telstra's firmware, Telstra wants to manage all of these areas so sadly there is nothing we can do

  • Firmware update - Cable Telstra Gateway Max - Netgear C6300

Firmware update - Cable Telstra Gateway Max - Netgear C6300
Good news. Over the next couple of weeks we will be rolling out an update to our Telstra Gateway Max. The firmware updates will roll out in the early morning and this process is expected to finish by mid May  for all devices.
    The current firmware: Version 1.01.06
    The upgraded firmware: Version 1.04.02
    UPDATE 10/06/2015
I have confirmed that the roll out was halted so that additional fixes can be included.  Those who already received the most recent update will also receive the next update.
This should resume over the next few weeks.
    What you need to do
Nothing. The new firmware will be remotely upgraded on active Cable Broadband services that have this gateway connected. The upgrade will occur during the early morning so as to minimise disruption to the customer. The gateway should automatically go through the process of upgrading and come back online when finished. All settings will be retained.
If you experience any issues with the gateway not coming back online, restarting the gateway should resolve in most instances.
Customers who connect a new modem after the roll out has been completed, can expect their modem to be automatically updated within 48 hours of registration.
    What’s better
The majority of the updates are improvements the previous firmware version. These include:
    • Flexibility in supporting larger external media storage devices such as external hard drives and USB sticks
    • Greater stability in the Wi-Fi
    • Improvements to VPN tunnelling functionality in the gateway
    • Media streaming improvements
    • General gateway Control Panel (GUI) look and feel improvements
    What’s new
    1. Wi-Fi Mesh, is a new feature that is developed to work in conjunction with supported Telstra Wi-Fi range extenders. It allows for a single wireless network name to be shared by all devices and automatic connection to a stronger Wi-Fi signal source within your home.
The Telstra Wi-Fi Extender Max is expected to be launched in late May.
    2. “Time of Day Parental Controls” feature, giving customers the ability to put rules on individual devices connected to their gateway, based on time. This complements the already existing “Keyword Filtering Parental Controls” feature that was already available, giving customers greater control over the viewing habits of users.
Customers can access this new feature by logging into the gateways’ Control Panel via the Basic or Advanced menu. To do this:
    i. Type in http://telstra.gateway/ in a web browser on a device that is connected to the gateway (either via    Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable)
    ii. Begin Parental control feature
         a. via the Basic Menu by clicking “PARENTAL CONTROL” along the top menu and select the “Time of          Day Access” tab
         b. via the Advanced Menu by clicking “ADVANCED VIEW” along the top menu and select the “Time of          Day Access” along the left hand side menu
    iii. Click on “Add Rule”
iv. Setup a rule that applies to the customers’ needs and click “Apply” to Save.
Rules can be applied for each individual device or by network type i.e. Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

  • Telstra Cable Drops every 1 to 2 days, but Gateway Max is fine

Had Telstra Cable installed on July 18, 2015 with a Gateway Max.Upgrade from TPG ADSL2 since Cable is much faster and my only other option in our location. While its much fasfer its not reliable. Every few days or once a day the Internet availability simply stops. All devices whether WiFi or direct Ethernet can still connect to the cable modem. In fact I can login to the Cable modem and its tells me the Cable connection is online and working, but its not. I cannot ping anything outside our home network using name or IP address. The only fix is if I reboot the Gateway Max, or Telstra sends a reset down the line. A Tech has visited once so far and changed the Isolator in the connection box outside as well as the connector in the street. No change, still happens. Regards,Mark

    Hi Markm09,
This isn't good to hear, your next step would be to lodge a complaint here Lodging a complaint with Telstra to have this escalated further, as it seems that it is a ongoing issue for you
    Thanks

  • Set up Telstra ADSL T-Gateway or Telstra Gateway Max modem

When you received your Telstra T-Gateway or Telstra Gateway Max, you should have also received a power supply and an ADSL filter.
    Step 1
Unplug your phone from the wall socket.
    Step 2
Connect the filter to the wall socket.
    Step 3
Connect your telephone to the socket labelled 'LOCAL PHONE' on the ADSL filter.
    Step 4
Connect the end of the ADSL modem cable to the grey DSL socket on the back of the Telstra T-Gateway or Telstra Gateway Max.
Once you have completed Steps 1 - 4, this is what your set up will look like.
    Step 5
Connect one end of the power cable to the gateway and the other end to a power outlet.
For instructions on activating and checking your internet connection, connecting your computer or devices, managing your gateway and troubleshooting, visit our user guides section.

All I want to do is connet a USB printer to the gateway. SO much cfap to get no where. Thanks Telstra

  • Max processes issue (but not a processes parameter issue)

I am having ora-0020 max processes issue, but my max processes is set to 550, and I have a highwater mark of 132 processes
    select * from v$resource_limit
    where resource_name = 'processes';
    RESOURCE_NAME CURRENT_UTILIZATION MAX_UTILIZATION INITIAL_ALLOCATION LIMIT_VALUE
    processes 52 132 550 550
This is a 2 node RAC cluster, and this only happens on one of the nodes. Anyone every see anything like this ?? It looks like some sort of leak with process handles or something.

This does seem quite strange. What version are you running?
ORA-0020 does seem to be a problem at the instance level, not the underlying O/S.
    $oerr ora 20
00020, 00000, "maximum number of processes (%s) exceeded"
// *Cause:  All process state objects are in use.
// *Action: Increase the value of the PROCESSES initialization parameter. If the problem was at the O/S level, I'd expect an ORA-12500, "TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process".

  • Cable gateway max C6300 firmware update in bridge mode

Hi, does anyone know if the gateway max cable modem (netgear C6300) will still get the OTA firmware update if it's in bridge mode?  I've given up waiting for fixes and am going to put my own router and access point in. Thanks

As long as it has a connection to the internet, I am pretty sure it will get an update.
You could try live chat maybe they have a better answer

Since it's a staggered release some modems won't get updated till July

  • Using Second Telstra Gateway Max in Bridge Mode to Extend Network Coverage

Hi all I'm about to connect my new BigPond Cable service and have been supplied the new Telstra Gateway Max (Netgear C6300).  I need to extend the network coverage out to a free standing double garage/man cave.  Rather than buying a seperate range extender or access point I was thinking of running ethernet cable from the primary Telstra Gateway Max in the house to the double garage and then attach to a second Telstra Gateway Max (which a friend has given me) in bridge mode.  Can anyone advise is this will be possible and how I go about it?

It doesn't work that way with bridging.  If you bridge your existing Gateway, then the wireless function on that one switches off. You need to connect the 2nd Router tothe existing with ethernet cable and then disable the DHCP function on the second router so that you don't get conflicting addresses being assigned on your network. I'm not sure that the Gateway Max will let you do this.  You would be better off buying a new Router (not one modem/router), and hooking up that way.

    - Shelly

    Hi David,
The C6300BD, should be able to support this.  However none of this is supported by Telstra's regular tech support channels.
When you move MachineA to Site2 the settings within MachineA will need to be reconfigured to reflect the IP address at the new location.
Most of the settings involved in setting up your RDP or VPN are configured on the PC's (Machines) themselves. So I would recommend that you talk to your IT people about this.
Some links which may prove helpful:
The Microsoft website has instructions on how to do this you can start here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/connect-using-remote-desktop-connection#connect-using-remote-desktop-connection=windows-7
You  may also need to know how to port forward some of the incoming connections, you can find instructions on your modem model here at these 3rd party sites,
