Well,
1 The applications is in JavaYeah but this problem isn't.
2 Need to be more specific possible
3 I'm developing a honeypot, so, when the computer is attacked, I can get information about who is trying to hack my computer, so, with this information, I can generate a map on Google Maps, to locate this person.Specific is difficult and you should be expecting to pay for that information.
Basically you need a list that maps IPs to locations. Doing this by country is not too difficult because generally ranges are assigned by country and you can find this information via Google.
But after countries it get's more complicated in a hurry. You'd have to find the netblock owner and go with that address. But none of this is 100 accurate.
To be honest I don't think you really need this information. More likely is if attacked you want to know the range of IPs the attack comes from and block/flag/whatever accordingly.

  • ITunes Match unable to complete "Gathering information about your iTunes library."

All week I have been trying to get 2 separate iTunes accounts on 2  different Macbook on Air's both running iTunes 11.3.1(2) on Mavericks 10.9.5 - the progress bar crawls along and never actually reaches the end. Both iTunes Match accounts are completely empty (i.e. show zero media available on connected iOS devices). I have signed in and out of iTunes Match, deleted the libraries and re-added them etc. but the scan just isn't working.
So, is iTunes Match being discontinued ahead of the announcements on 9/9 or is this a temporary glitch, or something thats just local to Spain?

I'm having the exact same issue on a fresh windows 7 install...pretty annoying. After a few minutes of Genius in iTunes 9.0.2 gathering information about my music library my PC crashes and turns off. This is the only issue my computer has...help?

  • Genius can't complete "gathering information about your library"  Help!

I am using iTunes 9. I have a 78 GB music library on a network attached drive (it is where my iTunes folder is). iTunes works fine but I cannot turn on Genius. When I try, the status bar opens and it says "gathering information about your library". The status bar fills up about 20% and then I get the spinning beachball. It sits there until I force quit iTunes (which is characterized as "not responding").
I have combed the discussion board to see what other people have done. Here's one thing I tried: quit itunes; went to home folder, then library, then preferences; deleted "com.apple.iTunes.plist"; went to itunes folder and deleted "itunes library extras.itdb" and "itunes library genius.itdb"; emptied trash; restarted iTunes. This did not work.
Does anyone have any other ideas? It looks like the Genius process is getting hung up on something, but I cannot figure out what. Thanks in advance!

Either go to ~/Library/Cookies and delete the file Cookies.plist
Or, if you don't want to delete all your Cookies, delete the relevant Apple cookies from Safari. To do so, quit iTunes, go to Safari and select Preferences -> Security -> Show Cookies. In the search text box enter apple.com. Select all of these files and click to Remove.
I did the first option and Genius worked fine afterwards.

iTunes match is stuck on Step 1: Gathering Information about your iTunes Library.
It will not progress past step 1.
I have tryed re-installing iTunes, resetting everything and all that. No luck in getting it to work.
Any suggestions on how I get it to work?

    Hi..
"A status indicator will allow you to track progress. You may also manually pause and resume iTunes at any time by clicking the Stop or Start button."
From here >  iTunes Store: Troubleshooting iTunes Match
Can you click the Start button?
Sounds like the internet connection is timing out.
Try turning off your router for a few minutes, then turn it back on. Restart your Mac, launch iTunes and try again.

  • Process/templates for gathering information about existing BI functinality

Hi everyone - Excuse me for posting this question to the thread, it is more of a bus analysis question. I need to document an existing BI / reporting system and identify:
    1. Usage of the reports
    2. Business units using it
    3. Can the reports be consolidated
    4. Sources being used
    5. Business rules being applied
    6. Can these reports be deleted
Can you suggest a process or a set to templates, if you have participated in similar initiatives ?
    Much appreciated,
    Iliya

Thanks, this helps with the usage aspect, looking into it, but my question had more to do with a business analysis process or document templates for gathering information, documenting sources, rules, etc.I would think this goes a bit too far from their knowledge for most people in this forum and you might be better going to BA specialized forums or searching in Google. I could give some sample docs but we don't have templates where I work so it will take me ages to go through them to remove any confidential or sensitive data.

  • I am seeing "gathering information" forever

When I start iTunes it goes through "Gathering information about your iTunes library" and the prgress bar goes all the way to the right.  And nothing beyond that ever happens.  Activity Monitor shows iTunes using (at this moment, 60% CPU but I have seen it as high as 170%.  If I use the Stop button it stops but resumes shortly after.  I tried turning Match off and then back on but that didn't change a thing.
When I originally did the Match it seemed to go fine.  I had a few errors, quite a few "Matched", many "Uploaded" and even more "Purchased", and what seemed to be a lot of "Waiting" but those cleared mostly over a few days.  Now everything is either "Waiting" or "Not Eligible" ...
I haven't seen anyone else with the problem yet and thought you all might be able to help.
    Bill W

I have seen similar problems with individual songs in 'Gathering for Information' never proceeding after I have been able to get my whole library into match.  Every once in awhile, match will go back and do an update or I will add some music and it will get stuck.  What I am finding is it gets stuck on songs it downloaded via match (i.e. matched songs from my library or purchased songs I deleted and redownloaded from match).  Perhaps my solution for this case pertains to those with new libraries - I think it is a corrupt file or library entry in iTunes and I found a way to see which file it is stuck on.
    On OSX:
    - open up Activity Monitor
    - Select the iTunes process.  It usually shows activity constant around 60%
    - Choose inspect
    - Select Open Files and Ports
    - Watch or scroll thru the list.  Eventually you will notice a file name and path for a song to repeatedly flash or show up in the list and disappear.  It may take a few seconds looking at different parts of the list to notice the changes as the list updates in real time.  If a file contines to repeat, this is the song that is messed up.  Remove it from your itunes library and see if match will then work.
If it was a bad file, you can try to re-add it but it will likely fail again.  For songs I had downloaded from match that caused this for me, I just redownloaded from match and then it worked.  I don't know if it was the file or the itunes library itself that was corrupt.

  • Itunes match will not finish gathering info about my library

when i try to add a song to itunes match it says it is gathering information about my library but never finishes

    Hi folks,
I found a solution in case your MATCH is still buggy...
JUST BOOT YOUR MAC HOLDING THE SHIFT KEY (until you see a progress bar).
Then in itunes disable and re-enable iTunes Match.
It should rescan all your library and eventually works.
At the end just reboot your Mac normally.
    Best regards from Paris.

  • ITunes Match stuck @ "gathering information..."

    Please help
I've just paid my subscription for iTunes Match and I can't get past "Gathering information about your iTunes library". iTunes gets to the the end of the progress bar and then sits there. I've left it running for the best part of a day and have tried 2-3 times now. My library contains 11,848 songs (119GB) so I assume it's nothing to do with the 25,000 song limit. The iCloud status says "waiting" for every song in the library.
I'm running iTunes 11.3.1 on a Macbook Pro.
Just an observation to Apple Support - I have purchased a new product (Match) but there is no mechanism to get support for this product that I can find - am I missing something ?
Can anyone please help me ?

  • HT5085 Gathering Info About your iTunes Library - Keep getting Network error

I bought iTunes Match yesterday, and so far have not been able to use it.
It gets to Stage 1: Gathering Info About Your iTunes Library and makes progress, but right at the end an error box appears saying:
"We could not complete your iTunes request. The network connection was reset.
Make sure your network connection is active and try again"
Well I know the network connection is active as I was able to be charged for iTunes Match and have had no problems making other purchases. I went to Advance > Run Diagnostics Tests from Help in iTunes and ran the Network Connectivity Diagnostics and it reported no problems.
Now I know how much Apple hate giving back refunds, but if people can't help, does anyone know how I can get my money back? If I click "Report a Problem" it simply takes me to the help pages. I tried contacting support but I received an email saying they can't help.
I'm getting quite frustrated now, so I'm reaching out and hoping someone can help me?

@ deggie, I wasn't threatening ANYONE. I was simply saying how frustrating this has become, seeing how I have been trying on my own to figure this issue out for more then a month with no results. Like I said in the beginning, I have not used any other account to purchase apps or other products on my phone. I have only ever used one account. There are 23 apps that are saying they can't sync. It directs me to authorize the computer, which I do but it doesn't change the outcome. If I proceed, I lose those 23 apps correct? Do I also lose all my text messages saved, and other things such as documents in the "notes"?

  • Genius stuck while gathering info about my library

I decided to use Genius for the first time. I turned it on. It started to gather information about my library. I went to bed.
Next morning, the bar had reached about twenty percent across. Itunes was unusable as it had slowed right down to glacial. I left it on for another 24 hours. After 24 hours, it had moved no further, and itunes was still glacial.
I turned everything off. Restarted. I then had to turn on Genius again, and click on the contract, as if I had never done before. The bar immediately moves up to twenty percent again, but there it sticks, nothing happens for a day, and itunes is glacial/useless.
I have looked in this forum, and deleted the itunes library genius file, as well as all apple.com cookies, as some people said that worked for them. But it didn't work for me.
I am using latest versions of itunes 10 and snow leopard. 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo imac, 1GB Memory, 20 GB left on the HD.
I'd be grateful for any help and advice.

I've been using Genius for a long time, but mine just started doing this as well.
It gathers info up to around 40%, then just bogs down. Then after about 10 more minutes, iTunes will completely freeze and give me the spinning beachball / marble of doom.
I had to force quit and this ended up locking the iTunes library file, so I repaired permissions, restarted, deleted the genius database, and watched it gather info and freeze again.
I'm on 10.6.6 and whatever the latest version of iTunes is, 2.4GHz MBP, 4 GB ram.

  • ITunes Match gets stuck on Step 1: Gathering information

For about 2 months now (that I noticed) my iTunes Match doesn't work...it gets stuck on Step 1: Gathering information and keeps cycling and never gets to step 2.
I have to STOP the Matching.... click STORE>Turn off iTunes Match
then.. STORE>Turn on iTunes Match.. re-add my computer.. and then it works properly.
Anything wrong with my settings or is this a known issue/bug that will be fixed in a future release?
    Overall I'm satisfied with Match....
    Thanks,
    David Murphy

This should fix it (hopefully you'll only have to do steps 1 and 2):
    1. If you are using wireless networking, try connecting directly to your modem with a cable. Connections to the iTunes servers are a bit on the sensitive side and the occasional glitch can throw off matching if it has a lot of work to do. I have a "perfect" setup so I initially dismissed that as a solution (or part of one), but it does make a difference. Once it's working correctly you can switch back to a wireless connection and it should be fine from there.
    2. In iTunes, hold down the Option key (or the Shift key if you're using Windows) while you click Store, Turn Off iTunes Match. Hold down the same key again and close iTunes. Since there may be some things cached, restart your computer. Open iTunes and Turn On iTunes Match again.
    3. If Match does not complete, try a couple more times just to be sure. Note that Match completing doesn't mean everything is done - some changes trickle back over time, but it should report success.
    4. If you still have problems, you can do a complete reset by contacting Apple's iTunes Store team and ask them to cancel your Match subscription and refund it so that you can purchase and start Match again from scratch. Wait until your iTunes account shows the credit before doing this (just to be sure the entire cancellation process on the Apple side has completed).
I hope this works for you - it did for me and it's so nice to have it working perfectly.
