Gave up on connecting to Internet via AXP - now what?

I was able to connect to the Internet via Airport Express w/out problems for a year & a half - SpeedStream 5200 modem thru DSL & IS providers here in Brazil. Then I upgraded the firmware to 6.3 in early January & got the endless "looking for pppoe host" message. I changed nothing else - same modem, same computer, etc. I downgraded to 6.1.1, factory reset the base station, cleared cache & reset Safari, no luck. Upgraded to 6.2, factory reset, no luck. Upgraded to 6.3, same result. Downgraded to 6.1.1 again, reset base station, cleared cache, & it's still looking for pppoe host. Apparently, 6.3 scrambled my connection for good - I've tried everything suggested in this forum innumerable times & have now officially given up. My question is, does anybody know what I can buy to regain wireless internet capability? Computer equipment is prohibitively expensive in Brazil - an Airport Express base station is @ $350 - & I don't want to invest large amounts of cash in something that isn't going to fix the problem.
If I bought a new modem would that likely solve the problem?
If I switched to cable, would that solve it? Does Airport have the same "looking for pppoe host" issue - a problem a whole lot of people appear to have - with cable modems?
If I bought a different wireless router, would that solve it? I've been using Macs for 20+ years but after this experience I'd be happy to never see another Airport Exanything. Are there other wireless routers that are compatible w/Macs?

This can be caused by a number of issues.
Was everything working and then suddenly stopped??
Or is this a new clean setup and has never worked.
Do you have a cable modem which is not a router and the TC setup in bridge? That will cause it. The TC must be in router mode, ie dhcp and nat.
Check the IP the MBP gets including dns and gateway..
Then check the ipad/iphone.. post what IP dns and gateway (router in applespeak) they get.

I am using LabVIEW 6i. I require to connect the internet via modem. I want this to be done automatically. I read some of the discussion here which discuss some AT protocols. Sorry, but I am not aware of these protocols.
After this auto connection I want to get data from some links. I think this I could using URL property of the windows' browser. If some one has other options please let me know.

I'm not sure I understand your problem. Do you want to dial up a flow controller and talk to it via
Modbus? I am familiar with Modbus and modem connects.

HT4623 After ios update on my ipad mini i am unable to connect to internet via cellular connection

i Have update ios 7.0.2 on my ipad mini. But after update of ios 7.0.2 i am unable to connect to internet via cellulau connection. Cellular connection appears on my screen but i get error as "Could not activate cellular data network you are not subscribed to a cellular data service". Cellular connection was working prior to ios 7.0.2 update. Please help.

GOT MINE FIXED -
THE 7.0.3 update reported my iPhone as LOST or STOLEN to Verizon.
They suspended my iPhone service immediately (as I would expect them to) and THAT is why I couldn't get on.
Called Verizon wireless - they restored me in 30 seconds - EVERYTHING WORKS AGAIN.
They said "we've been doing this ALL MORNING."

But when I input my Oracle support credentials I get an error :

Proxy settings in EOM are set for https, but not sure about the realm, I input our damain address "company.corp"

RF is a minefield, but one that I have worked in for ages, the most critical factor in my experience is location, location, location!
Better routers have more intelligently designed antenna systems, output power as I said is the same, radiation pattern (coverage) is dependent on antennas and physical location more than all other factors.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

Also, turn off IPv6:

Can't connect to internet via MacBook Pro to Airport Extreme

I can't connect to internet via MacBook Pro to Airport Extreme. I reset AE and modem (power down and back up again). Some computers on my home network will connect fine and others won't. The ones that won't don't populate the DNS server or the Search Domains. AE shows up on all the machines. I have one computer also connect to AE via ethernet and it has the same symptoms. Why do some Macs connect and others don't. Even when I get them to connect when I shutdown or put in sleep mode over night I lose the internet connection and have to start all over. Very frustrating.

Regrettably no replies. I have struggled with this for days with no success and I have given up on the Airport Extreme. I have found several other Forum posts with very similar problems and no one seems to have a solution to this. It seems other wireless routers work better than the Apple product. I was able to get my old Linksys wireless router reset and it is set up and working well. The Linksys router does populate the DNS servers and domains where as the AE does not. Apple engineers should look into this. If I am mistaken and there is a fix for this someone please let me know, otherwise my AE will probably appear on Ebay very soon.

when i use CA-53 cable to connect to internet using nokia pc suite7.0.8.2 (one touch access) an error message pops up "unable to connect to the speified device make sure the modem is configured properly" but i can easily connect to internet via bluetooth other functions like file manager , contacts , messages and back up can be accessed by using the CA-53 cable

I called a vw dealership (in South Australia) today because I have an iphone5 and a Tiguan and experienced the same thing (after i had purchased the lightening/30pin adapter).
I was advised that the media interface software is not compatible with iphone5. VW will eventually update the software according to ol'mate at the dealership, but it will be at an expense to the consumer allegedly.
I know that there is a iphone/vw media cable one can purchase from VW however, I believe this to only work with iphone4 or older?
Maybe try an older generation ipod to use for the car if all ur music is in itunes?
if anyone can correct me, I'd be more than happy to know... going to try my older generation ipad and see if there is any truth to the tale.... eventually. Until then i'll stream via bluetooth :-)

Looks like I have it set up correctly. Says "Connected to internet via Ethernet", yet I am getting absolutely no internet. Where have I gone wrong?
Oddly enough, it even says this when there is no ethernet cable plugged into it and is blinking amber.
What is going on?

Assuming you have a cable or DSL modem cabled to the Airport Express ethernet port... pull power to both the modem and the Airport Express for five minutes (or up to thirty minutes if you can stand it). Then plug power into the modem and wait a minute. Then plug power into the Airport Express and wait a minute. Hopefully your connection with your ISP will now have reset, and the Airport Express will get an IP address and show a solid green status light.
