[Gave Up]Problems getting OSS or PulseAudio to work

Question

So I'm following the wiki guide on installing OSS (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Open_Sound_System) and am running into a wall. It tells me to add:
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa_blacklist.conf
blacklist soundcore
to rc.conf, but not where. So I did some looking in rc.conf and thought that this was right:
# MODULES: Modules to load at boot-up. Blacklisting is no longer supported.
#   Replace every !module by an entry as on the following line in a file in
#   /etc/modprobe.d:
#     blacklist module
#   See "man modprobe.conf" for details.
MODULES=()
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa_blacklist.conf:
blacklist soundcore
But if I try and do anything with OSS the first errors I get are that the alsa_blacklist.conf file doesn't exists and that blacklist cannot be found. And then from there it goes into telling me that a lot of stuff in already in use before finally telling me "Also check that you have not compiled sound support statically into the kernel."
Can anyone help me with this? I bet it was something obvious and stupid that I'm missing.
Edit: So I found that the old method of blacklisting (the one in the guide I'm assuming) is now deprecated but I still don't understand what I am to do.

Removed osspd and everything that I did with it. Is this what you meant with udev:

Sorry for having little idea with what I'm doing. Want to make sure I'm not breaking anything. XD
Edit: Rebooted and now I don't have any control over my sound (even less than I did before) because I can't do anything regarding sound through Gnome now.
Edit2: Also, I'm using a usb gaming headset - Tritton AX720 - if that helps any. Worked fine in Fedora 15, so I know it's compatible with PulseAudio.
Edit3: So I couldn't even use PulseAudio after I did what you said (maybe I just did it incorrectly?), I removed all the changes I did. I just need to figure out a way for it to register that my headset is even there.
