GB saves all songs by the same name.

I am recording sermons at my church that are made into podcasts and put on our Facebook page. I can save the sermon by the proper name and there is no problem with this task. But, when I share the song to my iTunes library it always saves the sermon by the name of the first sermon I produced. I have to put the name of the sermon in the album title so I can find it and rename it. Then, I uloaded these sermons to the iTunes Store and it picks up the name of the first sermon as well. Where do I go to change the name of each title I save in Garageband?  When I share the sermon to iTunes a form pops up, but there is not a blank to insert the name of the sermon.

GarageBand will use the filename of the GarageBand project as the name of the song title in iTunes. The general idea is, that you create a new project file for each song. Do you use the same GarageBand project file for each new sermon over and over again? Then rename the project.band file in the Finder to reflect the name of the sermon, before you share the project to iTunes.

  • Can iTunes sync multiple songs with the same name?

My iTunes library has multiple songs with the same name (but they point to different files on the filesystem).
Curiously when iTunes syncs to my iPhone it will only ever sync two of the files, even if more exists. I suspect what is happening is described below, but I have no way of verifying it:
Let's assume I have 5 songs named IdenticalName, on the filesystem these are named IdenticalName.mp3, IdenticalName 1.mp3, IdenticalName 2.mp3, and so on.
I suspect iTunes is syncing the filename without a number postfix, and the file with the "1" postfix and not continuing with the rest of the files.
Has anyone seen similar behaviour? Did you find a workaround (other than renaming your tracks)?

can you manually discover the new instances on the new server?
Then just make sure the name that appears in Grid Control is different.
e.g. prod.world is on server A and B. When you discover in Grid control, you can make it prod_B and you will see the latter without any problem.

  • How do I move several songs with the SAME NAME?? to a windows folder??

Now for my next question ( i'll also post this as a new question)
I have 15 versions of the surf song "Apache" but when I try to move the songs via drag and drop in itunes to a windows folder, after the first version, it asks " you already have a file names "apache" would you like to overwrite it?"
    which I don't.
Even when I rename the file to "apache two" it still says I already have "apache" in that folder. They are all different versions by different groups.
How can I move them all to the same windows folder??.
    thanks
    Alan

Most iTunes users don't look directly at the songs in the windows folders, but if you intend to, you better give the files unique names: "Shadows - Apache," "Ventures - Apache," and so on. When you first change the name, you will have to reasssociate the file in iTunes, but then you will get no conflict when you drag them into a folder.

  • I changed all songs to the same artist by mistake ...help!

I accidently changed all my 712 songs to have the same artist. Is there a way to fix them back without manually typing in each artist?
My son says i can use idump to put the songs from my ipod (which are correct) into a file, then load them into itunes.
    Thanks.

My son says i can use idump to put the songs from my ipod (which are correct) into a file, then load them into itunes
    Yes.
Were these songs RIP'd from CD using iTunes?
If so, select them, then menu Advanced -> Get CD track names.

  • Does anyone know how to keep all songs in the same album when they say featuring someone?

Each time I load a CD onto Itunes that has an artist who features another artist on that particular song, it puts it in my library as a separate CD even though it will have the same album listed.  For instance Lady Gaga's song just dance features Colby O'Donnis that song is in its own spot while the rest of the cd is together that one song is separate and I don't know how to keep them all together.  Someone help.

Get the Informations for that song and have a look in the "Sorting" area if there is something different. The data inserted there is just for how iTunes will order the songs.
If the Interpret in the general informations is "Lady Gaga" and in the sorting area is "Lady Gaga feat. xxxx" than you'll see Lady Gaga as the interpret but it's sort to a second entry "Lady Gaga feat. xxxx".

  • Reference all tables with the same name

If I have multiple worksheets that each have an identically structured table "Test", is it possible to create a formula in a cell of another worksheet that references the same range of cells in every table "Test"? So far I haven't found a way to reference cells in a table with an ambiguous name without having to prepend the worksheet name to the reference like so: 'Worksheet 1' :: Test :: B3:C4. What I want to be able to do is say Test :: B3:C4 and have the formula reference B3:C4 in all "Test" tables.
    Thanks!

You've picked the correct descriptive term. Such a reference would indeed be "ambiguous".
You might be able to reference a set of disconnected ranges of cells, but each range would have to be explicitly described.
You might be able to collect the values in the cells into a single array in a single table, then reference that array in your formula.
    Regards,
    Barry
PS: "Sheets" in Numbers have little in common with "Worksheets" in MS Excel. Using the Numbers vocabulary can help keep the distinction more clear, and avoid unwarranted expectations.

  • ITunes deleting song of the same name

    Hi,
So I recently purchased a couple of Paul McCartney albums (Tug of War and Give my regards to Broad Street). These albums both contain the song 'Wanderlus', however both versions are slightly different and I'd like to have them both.
Trouble is, when I bought the 2nd of the two albums, the first version of wanderlust was removed from my iPhone. I can still see the song in my iTunes library in the section 'Songs not on this iPhone', but if I try to download that then the other song disappears....
Anyone know what I can do to get both songs on my phone?
    Thank you.

iTunes is certainly supposed to be able to handle multiple versions of the same song. Looking up the song Wanderlust on those albums there does seem to be at least three different studio cuts of it. Are you sure the iPhone downloads different versions? I'm not certain, but there is a possibility that when iTunes delivers content that appears on multiple albums it might have one source for the audio data and attach the appropriate meta-data on delivery. This would be a particularly useful feature when the songs need localised names in different regions. If so it is possible that it is delivering the "same" tracks which might explain why one replaces the other.
I suspect you may have to resolve this in iTunes rather than on the iPhone as you can always delete one version of the track, download the other, then add back the deleted version. Once you have both in your library you should be able to sync them to your phone.

  • How can I kepp all songs on the same album?

Some of my albums that have duets on them will show up as multiple albums when they were ripped from the same CD. Is there a way to make them all under the same album cover. I also have some artists that under an artist search will show up with multiple different headings of the same artist. I'm using the Ipod on a Kenwood car head unit.

I add it to the title as I've described, i.e. *Title \[Feat. Guest\]*. This means that all the information is still visible when playing the track in iTunes or on the iPod and can also be used when searching.
To fix things I set my library up in List view with the browser turned on and the columns arranged so that I could see both Artist & Album Artist. I then selected the first album in Album section of the browser to show it's tracks. Pressing the down arrow on the keyboard shows the next album. A brief glance will reveal if some tracks of the album have different artist values, in which case these can be fixed before moving on to the next album. It should take less than a second per album to confirm that it is properly formatted as your eyes will rapidly notice any inconsistency in the artist column. The process is only time consuming when you actually need to make some changes.
If two different artists have albums with the same album title, e.g. Greatest Hits, this also shows up when working methodically through this list. I've chosen to rename the albums in the form *Album - Artist* as this separates the albums, makes it clear in the browser which album is which and puts them in artist order. Another approach is adding different numbers of trailing spaces for each different album.

  • Any new technology for volume adjustment so all songs sound the same?

It's the age old question about volume adjustment and playback - when all songs sound different. And we all know the sound check feature doesn't work that well - especially when you have songs in different bit rates. I play my iPod over a very large sound system and the differences in volume are shocking.
It doesn't look like anything works, after all these years. Someone recommended putting ALL the songs up to 100% in the volume adjustment ... but that can't possibly work, can it?
Have there been ANY improvements in sound adjustment??? Or am I still stuck adjusting each song myself?

Are you speaking from experience? From what I've seen, it's 30 bucks ... with mixed reviews. I use the iPod for broadcasting over a large sound system - maybe it's not the way to go (as some have recommended NOT using iPods to broadcast over public places) - but is there ANY foolproof method? If iVolume does, indeed, work ..... I have no problem shelling out $30 for it. Or is the human ear still the way to go??? (I currently, painstakingly, adjust each song - one by one!)

  • Why can't iTunes down load two songs with the same name but different artists to my iPhone?

I noticed this a couple of years ago but had forgotten about it. Today I purchased two songs, both called Bop Gun (One Nation) but by different artists. When I looked at the purchased list on one appears. If I go back to iTunes and download the other one, the former disappears. Are they honestly saying that these phones are intelligent enough to distinguish a song by artist rather than track listing?
    Epic Fail!!!

Usually a song is uniquely identified by song name, artist, album and track number. That said internally I suspect the iTunes Store may allow one song to appear on more than one album while they only need to store one copy of the audio data. (They must also be able to cope with the situation, for example, where the UK & US version of an album have a different track order). It is also possible there is an error in the database that means you're not getting the song you're expecting. If you can't successfully download the two (presumably) different versions of the song then use the report a problem links in your account history and explain the issue. Hopefully the iTunes Store support staff can get it resolved.

  • BUG: LabVIEW 8.6 crashes when you save a class vi with the same name

I am running into an annoying crash.  If you try to add a VI with the same name to an existing class, LabVIEW will notify you that you made an error.  Once you hit OK, LabVIEW crashes.  Obviously, the workaround is not to save any VI with the same name as an existing VI to your class.

I have attached a ZIP file with an example project.  Open the project and open one of the VIs in Test Class.  Choose File->Save As.  Choose Copy->Open additional copy.  Make sure the box for Add copy to Test Class.lvclass is checked.
Do NOT try to save the VI over top of the existing VI.   Go to a new folder and save the VI without changing the name.  LabVIEW will save the VI, then inidcate it cannot add the file due to a naming conflict.  Once you hit OK, LabVIEW may or may not hang for a few seconds, then crash.
When LabVIEW restarts, it does not indicate anything happened. It just comes up with the standard startup screen.
I stumbled across this attempting to create a copy of an existing VI, but forgetting to change the name.
I confirmed this does not happen in LabVIEW 8.5.1, so the behavior is new to 8.6.

  • Since downloading 11.0.1 (12), Itunes can't locate or play many songs but the same songs still play on my synched iPod.

Since downloading Itunes 11.0.1 (12), Itunes can't locate or play many songs but the same songs still play on my synched iPod. I have a MacBook Air, Lion OS, Itunes version 11.0.1 (12).  I didn't see this problem with older versions of Itunes.  I do not manually change the organization of the Itunes library.  I use the Itunes "add to library" feature or Amazon's MP3 downloader.  Sometimes, however, I have changed song information in the "info" window.  Such as unchecking the "compilation" button and sorting by artist (for that song), so that I can search by artist in the top pane of Itunes (otherwise the song is sorted in an album that is a "compilation," but not under the name of the artist who sang a particular song.  I've done this without problem in the past, but perhaps the newer version of Itunes can't handle the changes I made and has lost track of where the older version of Itunes stored such songs?    How do I fix all these older previously ok changes if that's the case...  If I could just find where they are stored in Itunes it would be easier perhaps.  I've looked in compilations, unknown artist, and so forth to no avail.  And Finder search can't find them.
Details: suddenly, many songs are marked with "!," denoting that Itunes cannot find the songs in the library and cannot play them. Oddly, my iPod CAN play the "unlocatable" songs with no problem (it has been synched "post problem").  So the songs are still there somewhere in the Itunes library.  This problem occurs by album, that is, all songs from the same album become unlocatable, although different albums by the same artist may still be found and played.
Exploring the Itunes library to try to locate the missing albums/songs, I discovered that generally there is no longer any folder specified for any artist associated with a missing album [artist is the top level of organization and album is the second; compilations are in the same folder]. This is true even if I have other albums from the same artist which Itunes IS able to locate.  I cannot find a single song/album by such artists anywhere in the Itunes file system, even the ones that Itunes can still play.  If I right click and "get info" for an unlocatable song, I get a notification box that asks if I want to locate the file.  If I click "no," next thing-- the info window for the song pops up, with all the correct info (including sort info, which I double check)!  Why is Itunes able to locate all the info on the song, but is not able to play the MP3 file?
Using Finder I cannot locate the songs that are unlocatable by Itunes (except the original download files in the Amazon MP3 folder).  Finder is, of course, able to find Itunes songs that Itunes has no trouble locating.  What's up?!  My iPod can find them just fine.  I just synched my iPod again and am playing the "unlocatable" songs right now.
I can "fix" most of these files by downloading files one by one into Itunes from my Amazon download folder or from my CDs using the "add to library" feature. In fact, it is strange.  But this will take a very long time!  And what if this problem continues recurring?   But something strange happens when I implement this fix.  I added one song to Itunes (from the Amazon MP3 folder, using "add to library") for one "unlocatable" album of Pete Seegers. After adding that one song, I looked at the Itunes music library and discovered that a folder for Pete Seeger (which was not there before I added the song) had been newly created, or restored.  In this folder was the one song I had just added, but ALSO all my other Seeger albums that had previously remained "locatable" by Itunes.  But the other "unlocatable" songs were not restored, unfortunately.

I have found a workaround. When I create a new playlist, iTunes allows me to add or remove songs from existing playlists for a short while. Then, for some reason it prevents me from adding and deleting songs again. Not sure why. Go figure.

  • Multiple volumes with the same name

If I look at my /Volumes folder using Finder>Go>Go to Folder.. I see seven different volumes all starting with the same name:
    MyName
    MyName 1
    MyName-1
    MyName-2
    MyName-3
    MyName-4
    MyName-5
(as well as my external drive and iMac HD)
MyName has a folder icon, and contains 1 folder called Backup which then has my 1Password.keychain in 7 different versions.
MyName 1 and MyName-1 are aliases and have icons for shared volumes. The only differences I can see are that in "MyName 1", the folders for Backup, Groups and Library are all displayed as aliases, whereas in "MyName-1" they are displayed as standard folders.
MyName-2 through MyName-5 all have folder icons and are empty.
I can understand that I could have a local and remote copy of my iDisk, hence the "MyName 1" and "MyName-1" volumes, but why all the others?
Should I delete any of MyName-2 through -5?
Is any of this slowing down iDisk syncing or searching?
    Thanks in advance

    I have the same problem
an external firewire drive "232 GB" is gaining an extra, sequentially numbered, mountpoint in /Volumes/ each time it is unplugged and re-plugged.
    This is a bit of a pain as Xtorrent is downloading to a folder on this drive and so, whenever it is unplugged, I have to either;
    restart all the downloads or,
before launching xtorrent, go into /volumes/ and delete the last mountpoint (so the system automatically adds the one Xtorrent is expecting)
just noticed you're in Sheffield too, maybe it's a local problem....
    no idea what's causing it

  • HT1473 Often times when I copy a CD into my library it breaks the CD into more than one Album, all with the same name but with only a few of the songs on each. This happens whenever the CD has music with more than one artists...like maybe duets.

Often times when I copy a CD into my library it will break my CD into multiple albums in my library, each with only a few songs.
Usually this is because there might be songs where the artists has other artists in the song.
How can I compile all of the different albums (all with the same name by the way) back into one as was the original disc?

Generally all you need to do is fill in an appropriate Album Artist. For more details see my article on Grouping Tracks Into Albums, in particular the topic One album, too many covers.
