GB struggling with power issues- What do I do to make it work?
I have an imac Lion 10.7.4 with 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3.
Ive recorded a whole album over 7 months and I am aware if you use too many FX etc you are putting strain on GB to perform properly.
This is what Ive done to make my Imac work as well as it can ..what am I missing please.
1 Lock tracks Im not using whilst recording others
2 Moved all songs into an external hard drive apart from the one Im working on to free up space on Imac etc..
3.Use fx sparingly (ususally only echo and reverb and visual eq are used in mastering a song ) I use Alchemy and get all the FX etc set up on there for each sound so as not to use GB's strained power on its FX system.
4.Each song uses minimal tracks.....7 or 8 tracks for each song..they are not complex pieces and are only 3 or 4 minute pop songs.
Is Optimizing the answer and how do I do this. Will it make all the difference??
I am no tech head...do i need to install more Ram in the back of my Imac to make it run faster or is GB just not very good at running on a standard Imac??
P.s- why why why am I getting random crackling in GB all of a sudden ...is this related?

They don't say, but I think the safest thing to do is get that one and then if it doesn't work they will have to fix the problem. If I buy my own hardware and it doesn't work I'll have no recourse.

To get rid of "pop-up ads and other crap on my computer when I am on the internet", click on Safari in the Menu bar, and select Preferences. Next select Extensions. Delete all of them. Restart Safari.

I'm trying to install Adobe PS CS3 for my boss on an other computer. I put the Program on a hard disc and copied it to the other computer now it won't open and says it needs the license. What can I do to make it work on this computer?
Copying the program over to a new machine will not work. Install it using installation files and activate it using the serial number assigned to the license.

I use to be able to access all my music and videos on my iTunes via my Apple TV, but since a few months it hasn't work. My daughter tried with her computer and apple ID and it worked, but I want my Library to be accessible. I tried starting it over, rebooting it, but nothing seems to be working.
How can I make it work?

27" LED Display with power issues
I have had some peculiar issues with my ACD since I received it about a month and a half ago. I use it with my new i7 iMac. Specifically, the issue is with the power supply inside the unit (I think). One night about a month ago, I heard a "pop" from behind the ACD, and it went black. I knew that the unit itself was fully powered down as I could get nothing from any of the USB ports (such as charging of my iPod). I swapped power cables with my iMac, and the iMac powered on just fine, so I ruled that out. I then left the unit unplugged, boxed it up, and took it to the Apple Store the day after. To my surprise, it powered up just fine when I got there. Sure enough, it worked again when I brought it back home.
Now, just last night, I switched off the breaker panel to the circuit that had the ACD on it to change a light fixture. When I turned it back on, I powered back up my iMac...and the ACD did not turn on. Same thing: all ports dead, no power at all. Left it unplugged for 2 hours...no results. Then, I left it unplugged over the entire night. When I woke up, plugged it back in , and now it works again.
It seems as if the longer amount of time allows the power supply inside to "reset" somehow or something, but I am at a loss as to if this is some sort of true defect, or a flaw in design. Even the instruction manual recommends leaving the unit unplugged for a while if it fails to power on.
Anyone have similar issues? Anyone able to help me figure out what is going on?What I do when I have issues that can be tough to replicate is record them with my phone, take the unit to the store, and if it doesn't happen, show them the video.

TD Ameritrade's Tech Support said that Firefox 4.0 will not work with their Command Center. Keep getting an error message "additional plugins required" but nobody knows what it needs. Firefox 3.6 and all the earlier versions worked just fine (better than Safari). ThanksWhen you connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. But check your TV manual to see if it has audio plugs that work with one of the HDMI ports.
If you have the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody or Late 2009 model 6,1 White Unibody with the Mini DisplayPort rather than the Mini-DVI there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.

I use hd simplepass identity protection which works great with firefox 3.6. I updated to firefox 4 and when I tried to use simplepass to log into my bookmarked account firefox gave an error message. I had to uninstall firefox 4 and reinstall 3.6 and now I am able to use simplepass again

I've enjoyed Firefox til the later updates to the 3.x version. First lost ability to update my bookmarks and history, but the old remained. With the 4.x updates, I lost all bookmarks and history and could not page back -- big problem. I can send and receive calls.
I get "messaging stopped" when doing a lot of texts.
Texts come up "ghosted" meaning they have the text on the bottom and a transparent one overlaid on top. they then become one. But I get the ghosting most of the time when I go into a message from a contact to send a text.
When I go to call logs or text logs, the numbers come up first, and then then the names pop up randomly, meaning not in order down the page, until they are all shown. lots of lag time.
It runs slow.
I have 5 apps on here. I should be able to have a lot of apps on here, and play music, and have files, and...and....and.
I can get online but doing a Google search, when the page with the choices comes up, it is blurred and I have to tap on the screen for it to become clear and readable.
When online and scrolling, it hitches sometimes/lags/gets stuck then unstuck
I get VZWAVS has stopped. (not sure if those are the right letters)
The status bar that is supposed to be gray with the new update, goes back and forth between green--the old os--to gray. And I have found no continuity with when I get green or when I get gray.
I get a black screen on occasion.
sometimes the proximity sensor doesn't work.
sometimes when I have my bluetooth on and have "hands free mode" on, I get the a text message read through the headset and also through the handset.

It sounds like your PC or Mac's internal HD is full. You need to delete some data or move it to an external hard drive or storage device of some sort before you'll be able to successfully complete the restore.

What should I change to make it work?
I export a Quicktime movie (720X480 Animation) out of FCP 6.o.3 on my Macbook (Leopard).
I bring it into FCP 6.0 on a Powermac G5 with BlackMagic Intensity (720 x 486) (Tiger).
1st Try, Sequence: Match clip settings. Dropped Frames
2nd Try, Sequence: Native settings. Render. Dropped Frames
3rd Try, Sequence: Clip captured from Intensity Card. Native Settings. Then drag Quicktime into that sequence, render, no dropped frames,

Sometimes things hang. The movie plays great out of quicktime, but in the sequence occasionally one frame will stretch into 7 or 8, then play smooth, then hang again.
Any ideas? Do I need to revert to FCP 6.0? Is it an issue with the 720x486 vs. 720 vs. 480? Should I use a different codec?The Animation codec is a HEAVY codec...meaning that it isn't designed to be played back in real time. It is just a good lossless codec to send back and forth. You CAN play it back, but you need a pretty serious RAID ARRAY to do that.
And depending on the codecs you are using, you might also need a RAID to handle them. Not many can be played back on firewire drives, or one internal SATA drive.
