GB3 SAYS CANNOT IMPORT THIS FILE TYPE - MP3

I have long lecture (4 hours) that I'm trying to cut into a podcast. I was given WMV files which I coverted to MP3 with EASY WMA. Now when I try and import these files into GB3, I get an error saying it can't import this file type. What am I doing wrong? Is the file too big? Do I need to be using AIFF? Help please!!!

  • I am new at this.  Cannot send out pdf's from my computer. They receive message that says "cannot open this file" or corrupted file.  I can receive just fine.  Any suggestions?

Everytime I try to send out a pdf file, on the receiving end it shows they cannot open it or it shows corrupted.  I send to large companies so I know it is not on their end. I can receive them fine.  Don't know if this could be an adobe issue or a Norton's issue.  Any ideas I can check out?

I just downloaded Adobe XI onto my macbook air and now I cannot save or print any PDF files. Will not let me do Print-Save as PDF, and if i do Save as i get a message saying that the file is corrupted. I had NO PROBLEMS at all doing this many times until i downloaded the new version. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, to no avail. I am super frustrated.
Print>Save as PDF - uses Preview (part of OS X), so Adobe Reader should have no effect on that at all.
As to the "damaged file" error, simply uninstalling the Reader app won't affect it. Do the following:
    Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
    Mac HD/Applications
    Trash the Adobe Reader app
    [user]/Library/Preferences
    Trash the com.adobe.Reader.plist file
To access the [user]/Library, hold the "Option" key and click "Go" from the FInder menu.
    Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Trash the Reader folder (the whole folder)
    Empty the Trash.
Download the FULL installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
Quit your browser and reinstall Reader.
Launch it from the Applications folder and accept the license agreement.
You should have no problems downloading PDFs with Safari.
Unfortunately, ANY PDF that says it's damaged.... is. You'll have to trash them.

  • Cannot Share Certain File Types...

I recently uploaded a MP4 file that I wanted to share with a friend. The video is mine from my camera with basic editing in Premier. I uploaded this and then I see “You cannot share this file type.”
After a looking through the other forums I came across this thread that says we cannot share video, music, and fonts. Hmmm....
There is this sentence on the Creative Cloud Website:
“When you're connected, you can do even more with Creative Cloud, thanks to online services for file sharing, collaborating, and publishing websites and documents.”
    Let us imagine:
I am a Video Professional who uses Premier to edit videos and the above blurb excites me. I sign up and make3 the most awesome video of my career. ( dream frequently) I do a bit of editing, viola! A finished project Time to share with my friend so they can confirm I'm a genius, okay? Since I have a website with Business Catalyst using the Creative Cloud I will put it there. Oh wait, BC cannot handle a file over 100mb and my Video is a few hundred megabytes. Well, I have Creative Cloud Storage online and it allows for sharing, wonderful! I upload the video, no issue, then go to share the video. WAIT! What is this? I cannot share a file that I CREATED? Why Not?
I can understand not wanting to get in trouble due to copyright law but you are a company that produces a program specifically for video editing (let us not forget Audition for Music/Audio editing.) I believed the pitch about Creative Cloud for professionals so they can create files and collaborate with anyone from anywhere. Yet there is that footnote: you cannot share video, music, or fonts. ?!?!?!? This is very limiting. If there are legal reasons why you cannot share the file types then say so. With MP4 there is a patent on the codec, and so we cannot share these files(?) but we can create them using Adobe Programs.
No worries I'll just zip my files to have my genius confirmed or denied.
Adobe, I would like to understand the reason for the block on allowing certain file types to be shared. With the disallowing of certain file types you severally limit the value of the Cloud. Also where is the list of blocked file types? Why did I have to find out the hard way that I cannot share videos? I cannot find a list or even a statement that those files are not allowed to be shared (other than a forum thread which is not the typical place those shopping for the service offered, would look).
Thank You, I think I need a chocolate bar now.

    Agreed Lynda.
There seems to be certain promises, which may give false impressions, in Adobe's marketing copy for the Cloud. Limitations of the Cloud are barely, if at all, mentioned,
I hope it's made a little more accurate one day.

Follow the steps to identify the video and audio
format, then look in the list for a codec.

Yes- it is a Mac. I went through adobes system requirements and re- downloaded supportive software. The notice seems to happen near the end of the down load with the messages above. I'll look into your suggestion. Thank you- appreciated.

  • TS1702 trying to download mp3 get: Safari cannot download this file

I am trying to download MP3  even tried AAC I receive error Safari cannot download this file..  I am clueless in how to do this thank you Linda

You can't download music via Safari. If you are trying to get music into the Music app then you will either need to buy/download them via the iTunes store app, or download them on your computer and sync them. If you are using a third-party music app then does it have its own browser function for downloading music, or does it only support copying via a computer's iTunes ?

despite the workaround, it doesn't fix the real problem. It shouldn't be a huge deal for adobe to add support for multiple svn versions. Dreamweaver is the first tool i've used that works with svn that doesn't support several types of svn meta data. If they're going to claim that Dreamweaver supports svn is should actually support svn, the current version, not a version several years old. This should have been among the first patches released, or at least after snow leopard came out (and packaged with it the current version of svn).
does anyone know if the code that handles meta data formatting is something that is human readable, or where it might be, or is it in compiled code.
i signed up for the forums, for the sole purpose of being able to vent about this very frustrating and disappointing situation.

  • Installing CS5.5, got an error window that says "windows cannot open this file"

I download the CS5.5 files.  Clicked on the larger file to open it and received an error window stating that "windows cannot open this file".  Any suggestions?

    @caroline,
are both files in the same directory?
are you clicking the exe, not the 7z?
if yes to both, right click the exe and click 'run as administrator'.
if that fails, run the cleaner (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and then click the exe.

  • I don't recognise/understand this file type.......

I'm fairly new to using Elements, so forgive me if this is an elementary (pun intended!) query.............
Recently, after importing jpeg files into the Organiser in E11, editing them within the editor, saving them also as a jpeg, something odd is happening...
Often, after saving the file in the editor, when I go to check that image in  the organiser, it's turned into a blank, grey rectangle and within it is a 'pictogram' of what looks like a piece of paper with the top right corner turned down and a 'rip' going across from left to right. I'm at a loss to know what this is & why it's happening . Clicking on this rectangle doesn't open the image & no metadata is available either. Clicking on history, does however produce a very small thumbnail image on the right hand pane.
Can anyone advise what is going on here please?
    Thanks,
    Stephen.

    Hello Andaleeb,
Thanks for trying to help. I did as you suggested, but unfortunately, had the same issue when I tried to save a newly edited file in Elements 11, ie the grey rectangle previously described, which then appears in the Organiser & cannot be opened.
Alternatively, If I try to open this in MyPictures, I'm informed that 'Windows cannot open this file' and that it is a 'type 13 file'. Do you have any other suggestions? This has only started to happen over the last few days when I've been editing. It's worrying, as shortly I have to edit images for the production of 3 calendars.
    Thanks,
    Stephen.

  • Cannot import any files on Lightroom 4.2

I have been having problems with importing all files to Lightroom since my Macbook was 'healthchecked'!! I get the message 'cannot read files'.
This started with Lightroom 3 - where I have tried to delete the preference file and then recreate - no luck, after alot of other things tried, I then
uninstalled Lightroom 3 and installed a fresh version of Lightroom 4.2 - and the problem still exists.
I suspect it is a configuration problem but am not technical, so I need some non-techie suggestions please, I am getting very very frustrated!!
    Can anyone help, please.

    Victoria,
Thank you for you reply, it must have been something to do with the
permissions of the folders as I just decided to create a new folder as
the destination folder and that worked!!
So thank you so much, I just now need to organise all the photographs.

Which folder are you setting as the Destination, for the files to be
imported into?  Does it work if you set it to, say, Desktop?
That "cannot be read" error message more often means "cannot be
written" (yes, I know, that's stupid!!!), so it's probably a folder
    permissions issue.

  • I cannot import .mov files to Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.

I cannot import .mov files to Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.
How do I around this problem?

We need to know a lot more if we're going to help you.
What happens when you try? Do you get an error message? If so, exactly what does it say?
What version of Premiere Pro? Have you installed the recent updates? What operating system?
Does this happen for all .mov files or just some? Has this ever worked before? What version of QuickTime do you have installed?
Here's a page written for After Effects, but the information is relevant to Premiere Pro and AME, too:

  • Cannot open on Nook, "This Nook cannot read this file. It may be an unsupported format"  what can I do?

I used ADE 4.0 and ebook transferred to computer and Nook - it opens on my computer but will not open in Nook.  Error message says "This Nook cannot read this file.  It may be an unsupported format."  What can I do to open it on my Nook?

First, I would recommend repairing the hard drive with Disk Utility.
If that doesn't fix the problem, there's a very dangerous command you can execute in the Terminal.  This is very hazardous, because a simple typo can result in very drastic consequences.  I have seen people erase their entire hard drive by putting a space in the wrong place!  So, please follow the directions I'm going to give you very carefully!
Open the Terminal, which is found in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.  In the Terminal, enter the following:
    sudo rm -f
Make sure to put a space after the "-f"!  Then, drag the troublesome file from the Finder and drop it on the Terminal window.  That should insert the path to the file in the command.  Then go back to the Terminal and press return.  You will be asked for your password, and when you type it, nothing will be shown as a security measure.  Press return again after entering your password.  The file should be deleted.

  • Cannot import bookmarks file (file is neither JSON or HTML)

I recently reformatted my laptop with a friend (works in IT), and from what I remember, he saved the bookmarks through the "Import and Backup / Backup" functions.
When I went to import it back into Firefox, and I browsed to the location of the file, it was apparently not recognized, as it didn't show up in the folder I know it's in. While in this process, I also noticed that Firefox is either looking for a JSON or HTML file. When I looked at the backup file more closely, I noticed it doesn't have a file extension. When I looked at the properties of the file, it simply says "file". I went online looking for an online tool to help identify the file, and found TrID (http://mark0.net/onlinetrid.aspx/). When I ran it through this identification software all I got back was:
"The file seems to be plain text/ASCII. TrID is best suited to analyze binary files!"
As I see no option in Firefox to load this file type, I'm wondering what could have gone wrong during the back up process.
I was able to open the file in Excel (just a hunch because it "seemed" to be a text file according to the online file identification). The file did open, unusable of course, but at least it appears that the file isn't corrupt anyway.
Please could someone help me with this? I have all of my work search links in this backup, and it would be a ton of effort to recreate it all!
    My info:
    Windows XP Home, SP3
    Firefox 14.0.1

Open that file again in a text program like Wordpad and post the first few lines of that text file here. If it appears to be one very long file without any line breaks, post the first 50 or so characters.
