Gc_w01_enu_nb.exe extracts to 100% but setup fails instantly in winxp pro

gc_w01_enu_nb.exe extracts to 100% but setup fails instantly in winxp pro
I'm trying to install the full featured driver for my psc-1315xi on two WinXP Pro PCs.
The first one worked perfectly.
On the second one, when I run the downloaded exe, I get the "Extracting" message, but when it goes up to 100%, the setuup window never opens.  And no error messages are displayed.  I poked around and found a log file that was produced.  It includes the following:
GetValueByLang( f->c_str(), _T(Version), _T(LanguagesInthisCD) failed
System LangID = 1033.  mapped to ENU
## The system language is ENU, but it isn't on our CD!
## We couldn't figure out a language to use, and are returning FALSE from CICECmdLine::GetLanguage()!
## GetValueByLang( f->c_str(), _T(Version), _T(LanguagesInthisCD) failed
Setup returning 1603
Any help would be appreciated.
This question was solved.

I think I may have solved this problem.
I have a Windows XP Pro (SP3) PC that was experiencing this issue.
Immediately after the "extracting" window went to 100% and closed, nothing happened.  The software installer/setup windows never displayed.
Each time I tried it created a log file that started with this:
Parsed command line: ".\Setup.exe"
Using datfile: C:\DOCUME~1\xxxxx\LOCALS~1\Temp\7zS1293\autorun.inf
## GetValueByLang( f->c_str(), _T(Version), _T(LanguagesInthisCD) failed
System LangID = 1033.  mapped to ENU
## The system language is ENU, but it isn't on our CD!
There were other error messages after that, but they all stem from lines 3 and 5.
Something was preventing the setup program from recognizing that the ENU language files ARE present in this download.
By comparing two PCs, one with the problem, and one that worked just fine, I saw that the one that was failing had AutoRun disabled via a registry setting.  I temporarily removed this from the registry on the PC that was failing and the setup launched and ran like it was supposed to.  Here are the first few of that log file from the same PC, a few minutes later, where the only difference was that I had removed the offending registry setting:
Parsed command line: ".\Setup.exe"
Using datfile: C:\DOCUME~1\xxxxx\LOCALS~1\Temp\7zS1293\autorun.inf
System LangID = 1033.  mapped to ENU
We are using the system language=ENU, which is on our CD!
As you can see, the "(LanguagesInthisCD) failed" message (Line 3) has disappeared, and line 5 (now line 4) shows that it succeeded in recognizing that the ENU language setup files are present.
So, if you are experiencing this problem and you are comfortable working with the system registry, here's how I got it to work on my PC:
Start regedit
Navigate down this tree
-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- - SOFTWARE
- - - Microsoft
- - - - Windows NT
- - - - - CurrentVersion
- - - - - - IniFileMapping
Below that, look to see if there is a key named "Autorun.inf"
On my PC (the one with this problem) the value for this key was "@SYS: DoesNotExist"
If your registry has this also, it may be the cause of your problem.
In the left pane of regedit, right click on Autorun.inf and select "Rename" from the popup menu.
Change the name to something like "Autorun.inf.hold"
Close regedit
At this point I rebooted my PC, but I don't know if that it actually required.
I ran the downloaded driver file.  It extracted, and the setup program started like it was supposed to.
When that was done, I went back into regedit and renamed "Autorun.inf.hold" back to "Autorun.inf"
This was enormously frustrating for me, and (if you need it), I hope this solution works for you.

    Hi,
      I've been trying to install WinXP Pro on KT3 Ultra 2 box, but it always stalled at the point after it loads all the driver and says "Setup is Starting Windows" on the lower status bar. I notice a quick flicker on the keyboard light and the keyboard is no longer responding.

    I also tried the install the same setup using an old Matrox Millenium II 4MB video card but if failed at the same point.
    Any clue will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    After reading a couple of posts that suggest users to remove all unnecessary devices during install, I decided to remove all my SCSI devices, take an old IDE CD-ROM drive, and BINGO.. the install went smoothly.
    I guess the problem has something to do with the SCSI card and its devices. Very strange. I didn't think that booting from a SCSI DVD-ROM could be a problem.
    Thanks again for all the replies!

  • Setup failed for SQL Server 2005 express edition [SQLEXPR.exe]

    Good day All,
    My client has already SQL Server 2005 SP3 installed. We are in process of providing him a new .net application but he wants existing version of SQL untouched. We asked him to install SQL Express version (SQLEXPR.exe) and configured web.config to local (.\SQLExpress).
    However client is getting message -
    "Setup failed.
    For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?LinkID=20476&ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=9.00.4035.00&EvtSrc=setup.rll&EvtID=50000&EvtType=sharedsetup%5csharedsetupactions.cpp%40LoadResourcesAction%40sqls%3a%3aLoadResourcesAction%3a%3aperform%400x0"
    I am in a fix. What could have gone wrong? Clearly it has something to with already existing version. Just for information, client keeps his SQL services (using SQL Server Configuration Manager) in a stopped state. Could that be an issue?
    Appreciate any one helping me out.

  • VS Community With Update 4: Uninstall/Repair: "Setup Failed"

    So, I may have goofed up this time. So let's start from the beginning. I installed VS Community W/ Update 4 about a month or two ago. (I installed portions on my external because I want to save space on my SSD). I uninstalled it because I didn't think I
    would need it again. When uninstalling VS it wouldn't fully uninstall (I think I uninstalled some components in the incorrect order). Now when I try to repair it or uninstall VS, I get this message: "Setup Failed! install cannot continue because required
    components failed".
    I am trying to re-install VS so I can use it for another project. I checked a few sources online, but nothing seems to make any sense or simply is not ineffective. Can some one help make sense of this?

    Hi ntnguyen.victory,
    According to the name of the installer "vs2013.4.exe", I think what you download is the update 4 for VS2013 instead of VS2013 with update 4.
    You can check the update 4 download page:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=44921
    and the VS2013 with update 4 download page:http://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/download-visual-studio-vs
    So when you right clicked file vs2013.4.exe in that folder, cliked Run as Administrator, it didn't work because you didn't install VS2013.
    Please download VS2013 with update 4 with the link I paste.

    Since it seemed to help some folks that were having trouble downloading the NIS updates, I have also tried downloading the updates with (winhttp) Proxy authentication on and off.
    I have also tried recreating the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder (Stop wuauserv; Rename folder; Start wuauserv; Folder recreated)
    Still no luck. Any help or direction you can provide is much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    John

    Hi,
    Thank you for the post.
    I did some research regarding error “0x80070005”, you may perform the following steps and see if it helps:
    Step 1: Verify DCOM security
    1. Click Start, click Run, type Dcomcnfg, and then click OK.
    2. Expand Component Services, and then expand Computers.
    3. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
    4. Click the COM Security tab.
    5. Under Access Permissions, click Edit Default.
    6. Verify that the following accounts are listed:
    7. If any one of these accounts is missing in the Access Permission box, follow these steps:
    a.  Click Add, click Advanced, and then click Locations.
    b.  In the Locations box, click the Local_Computer_Name, and then click OK.
    c.  Click Find Now.
    d.  Press CTRL, click the required account names, and then click OK two times.
    e.  In the Group or User names box, click an account that you added, click Local Access in the Permissions for Account_Name box, and then click to select the check box in the Allow column.
    f.  Repeat step 7e for all the accounts that you just added, and then click OK.
     Step 2: Verify DCOM default properties
    1. Click the Default Properties tab.
    2. Verify that the following configuration:
    • The Enable Distributed COM on this computer check box is selected.
    • In the Default Authentication level box, Connect is selected.
    • In the Default Impersonation level box, Identify is selected.
    3. Make any required changes, and then click OK.
    4. Restart the computer.

  • Native pkg - "Detected [iscc.exe] version 0.0 but version 5.0 is required."

    Hello,
    I'm trying and failing to generate an .exe native package following the instructions in this blog post:
    https://blogs.oracle.com/talkingjavadeployment/entry/native_packaging_for_javafx
    I'm on Windows XP SP3 using the 32-bit versions of the recommended JDK and JavaFX SDK. I have installed Inno Setup version 5.5.1 (although I also tried 5.5.0 and 5.2.3, also without success) and have added iscc.exe to the system path. I'm running an unmodified version of the SwingInterop build.xml included in the javafx-samples-2.2.0-beta bundle. The fx:deploy task, which looks like this:
    <fx:deploy width="960" height="720" includeDT="true"
    nativeBundles="all"
    outdir="${basedir}/${dist.dir}" embedJNLP="true"
    outfile="${application.title}">
    <fx:application refId="swingFXApp"/>
    <fx:resources>
    <fx:fileset dir="${basedir}/${dist.dir}"
    includes="SwingInterop.jar"/>
    </fx:resources>
    <fx:permissions/>
    <info title="Sample app: ${application.title}"
    vendor="${application.vendor}"/>
    </fx:deploy>
    skips the .exe bundler with this error message: "Detected [iscc.exe] version 0.0 but version 5.0 is required."
    Thanks for any advice or assistance.
    -JP

    This is working for me now. I believe what happened was that I had launched the IDE in which I was running the ant build script prior to installing ISCC, so the IDE wasn't picking iscc.exe up off the system path. After restarting my IDE, everything works great.
    A big thanks to you, Igor, for going above and beyond to help me out, even emailing me directly to do so.
    Keep up the great work guys.

  • K320 Factory Default Setup Failed at Startup.

    Hi there,
    I have some questions about K320 IDEACENTRE factory default pre-load setup.
    The PC desktop shipped with 1 HDD for 1TB with 2 partitions; C & D drives.
    1. I've increased C drive partition disk space from 50GB to 100 GB.
    2. And created another hidden partition 100GB for my Acronis Secure Zone.
    I run factory default pre-load setup at PC startup, but there was an error message prompted something like “Detect wrong architecture"; the setup failed.
    Can someone assist me?
    Thank you in advanced.
    Kind regards,
    Dins
    Singapore End-User.

    Hi,
    Assuming this is just a problem with the recovery process, here's an alternative option you could try - if nothing else, it'll help to rule out a Hardware issue and if successful, will give you a working installation of Windows 7.
    Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
    An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
    Note:  Depending on the Model No. of your Envy notebook, the COA label may be under the removable bottom cover.
    You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
    Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.
    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx
    Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found by entering either the full Model No. or Product No. Here.

    DP-K

    My iTunes will not start.  The box on the error message APSDaemon.exe,  And message says "This application failed to start because MSVC80.dll was not found.  Reinstalling may fix."  I did the reinstall and I get the same error.  The error first happened after I approved the an iTurns update.

    Same problem today. Took five times to reinstall without any error messages. Apple has posted a way to fix and you should follow their's first. I finally got to upldate correctly by doing their fix but with one difference. I did the following:
    1) Went to the C:\program files (x86)\iTunes and C:\program files\iTunes folders and moved every file ending in .dll to the desktop (even if two files in same location had the same name, just replace)
    2) Restarted computer and still got error message
    3) Uninstalled all apple programs possible in the following order......itunes, apples software update, apple mobile device support, bonjour, and apple application support.....all performed using the microsoft control panel
    4) put all the .dll files on the desktop in the trash and emptied (this is a step apple support did not specifically put in their fix but for a final try I wanted to delete everything apple).
    5) Restarted computer.
    6) Re-installed itunes from apple website
    No error messages during re-install and was able to open shortcut in one try. Even updated my ipad to make sure everything was working.

    Please help !
    Me

    I've installed 1.3.1_01 on both W2K Workstation and Server, no problem. There's a bug report, but no workaround or solution.
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4412291.html
    and it's supposedly 'fixed' in 1.4.0 beta.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/fixedbugs/fixedbugs-beta2.html
    You might try installing the beta version
