GCC update... did/didnt work properly?

Question

I downloaded a GCC update off the Apple ADC website. The Readme showed a couple of commands to execute to verify that the update worked correctly.
The linker version has a minor error. The readme says running the following command will result in the line below it.
$ ld -v
Apple Computer, Inc. version cctools-525.1.obj~1
On my computer, I instead got this:
Apple Computer, Inc. version cctools-525.1.obj~8
see the 8 on the end? not a 1. That's the only difference... the compiler version matches perfectly.
Im out of ideas, I can't tell if this is wrong or the 8 is okay.

Y dont u try to install latest Nokia pc suite 7.1.51.0  from www.europe.nokia.com/pcsuite?
