GD65 Post-BIOS Adjustment Reboot Question

Is it normal that whenever I change & save bios "Cell Menu" settings, the board reboots by first switching off (i.e. all LEDs & fans off) & then powering up again after a gap of abt 1s. If I change other settings in bios then after saving it restarts as if a warm boot (i.e. fans & LEDs don't go off). Is this normal behaviour?
Also I have DDR3-1600 rams, how can I set the board to run @ 1600? I can currently only set it to run @ 1333 now by using 5x memory divider setting. Also how can I change vdimm setting? The selection is currently at "auto" & is greyed out.
TIA

If the setting is saved after the 1s reboot, it should be normal.
As for the RAM question, please post what RAM you are using.
Yes, setting is saved, but it's strange that sometimes it reboots as if a hard reset is done & sometimes it's a warm reboot. Does it make a difference if say I change only the ram or cpu settings or if it's only a change relating to disabling quick boot?
The rams are OCZ Platinum DDR3 1600 LVAM (for AMD). I'm currently testing the board with these rams & the bios only give me choice of auto, 3x, 4x & 5x settings (no 6x). Setting it to 5x gives me a speed of 1333.
The bios is v1.2 & the psu is Delta Server Power 750w (Only available in Asia).

  • Posting an adjustment Invoice

    Hi MM Gurus,
I might probably asking you a silly & pretty easy question.
For the PO, the GR qty & IR qty is same but the amount differs. Now I am looking
to post a second invoice for the difference amount.(I haven't checked into details yet as I know the system is configured to block them anyway but the user says that they got few of them)
    The options I got are:
    A) Post an adjustment invoice for the difference amount (if I could??)
    B) Reverse the existing Invoice and create a new one.
    C) Raise a credit note for the difference amount.
The first one would be easy neverthless!!
Thanks in advance for your solutions.
    Regards,
    Madan

    Hi,
If you are saying that the Invoice that has been posted already was for the wrong value but the qty was correct and you now therefore want to post an additional invoice but JUST for the xtra value and not for any extra qunatity.
Then you need to use Subsequent Debit (from the pull down list on the first screen of MIRO)
Just enter the amount that this extra invoice is for and reference the PO as if you were posting a normal invoice. Then enter the FULL qty that this extra charge relates to (this will have no effect on the qty invoiced because you are posting a subsequent debit, but the system needs to know the full qty so that it knows how many to spread this extra cost across.
It is made a bit clearer if you substitute the words "value only" for the word "subsequent".
Because a subsequent debit is a "value only" debit (and in this case a debit is an "Invoice")
So a Subsequent Debit is the same as saying a "value ONLY Invoice"

  • MSI X58A-GD65 new BIOS

I have motherboard MSI X58A-GD65 bought in September.
It is possible to flash it new BIOS v.23.0 or not?
    Now i have BIOS v. 22.1

    Hello every body.
Does anyone check 7522vM3 22.3 bios?, the 22.2 was a disaster, but what about 22.3?, or perhaps it works and resolve the problem of suspension state when you make overclocking.
    Code: [Select]
    X58 Platinum / X58 Platinum SLI = BIOS version 3xx
    X58 Pro / X58 Pro SLI / X58 Pro-E / X58 Pro-E SLI = BIOS version 8xx
    X58A-GD45 = BIOS version Pxx
    X58A-GD65 = BIOS version Mxx
    X58A-GD65 = BIOS version Nxx
The BIOS is for LiveUpdate ONLY!
No need to post BIOS Mxx & Nxx since there are different BIOS version
    with the same marketing name.

    My experience with X58A-GD65 Bios
22.0 = dont get out from suspension state, Overclock runs ok
22.1 = it runs ok, OC ok
22.2= it has lots of problems, the main is the inestability of raid 0 over SSD, lots of blue screens, OC inestable.
So, dont upgrade to 22.2, stay in 22.1.
The upgrade of the bios shoud be done from the BIOS (you have an option to upgrade with an usb memory stick).

MSI seems to really discourage liveupdate on NTFS.  That was enough for me to flash from DOS.  While their instructions are detailed, they're really not that hard to implement as long as you're not being careless.  My flash to 1.2 went perfect using the DOS method on my NFTS machine...

  • MSI 970A-G46 and posting Bios

    Okay a little background,
i recently built this platform that is in my signature. it would randomly shutdown so i attempted to update the bios and wound up bricking it. after speaking with people at MSI they had me mail it to them than sent me a swapped out one. it worked well for the first couple days than started to randomly shutdown. now it will not post everything turns on but i get no video on my monitor and the usb mouse and keyboard will not light up. i have been doing some swapping around with another computer to test thing and i believe i have 2 possible scenarios of what is wrong. currently i have 4 sticks (4x4) 16 GB of patriot PGV316G1333ELQK sector 5 memory (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220435) i have some (2x4) 8GB of Patriot PSD38G1600KK memory out of my sons computer that i swapped out of it to see if that was my problem and it will post and start up (possibly with only 2 sticks in not drawing as much power). so i am thinking that it is either my PSU bad or that my memory is simply incompatible. one thing i noticed is that i accidently forgot to plug in the 8 pin ATX power connector for the MB from my PSU and it acted the same way and would not post bios or show any video or light up my mouse or keyboard. so i guess my question is whether or not my PSU is bad or if its my memory. evidently the memory is 1.65v and 9-9-9-24 so is my memory drawing to much power from the MB and the PSU cant keep up? or is the memory just unusable. i have tried to understand from some of the posts here about memory and evidently XMP but i guess i am a little old used to be ddr2 etc fit amd or intel but alot has changed. any help on any suggestions on my problem would be appreciated. i cannot use my sons power supply as it only has 4 pin connector for the ATX on the MB

so i need to do some research and find a better power supply than what are some things i should look for in a quality one?
Look for a single rail psu of around 450W. At 450W it should offer at least 34A on +12v. To be on the safe side go for a quality brand psu like Corsair.
    Quote
instead of getting 4 sticks of 4 gb each i should get 2 sticks of 8 gb? i am sorry i didnt understand. even though there are 4 slots only use 2?
Using two sticks is ideal and reduces the stress for the mem controller in the cpu. The more sticks you are using the more stress. Because of that e.g. ram can not be run at the speed/timings it would work with in two stick configuration. At least it is a dual channel setup meant for two sticks. Still four sticks can be used but mostly at lower speed. If the four sticks are already at their limit (like ddr3 1333 1.65v sticks) compatibility issues are guaranteed.
Two sticks of 8 GB would be ideal if that would be a matched dual channel kit and not mixing separatly bought sticks..

    Hello ,
Please consider using a check table for the characteristic involved if you are working with large
    number of values assigned
With a check table you have a possibility to work with a huge amount of values , also the performance should improve

  • FM2-A75MA-P33 - no video/post/bios/beeps.

    Hi everyone,
I built a PC with these parts:
    APU: AMD A-Series A6-6400K X2 SFM2
    Motherboard: FM2-A75MA-P33
    RAM: Crucial Ballistix 4GB DDR3 PC3-14900 CL10 BLS4G3D18ADS3CEU
    HDD: Seagate BARRACUDA 500GB 7200RPM 16MB ST500DM005
    PSU: Corsair VS350 ATX2.31 350W CP-9020052-EU
When I first turned it on, it got no video, so I assumed it was that the BIOS is too old. I borrowed an external GPU, attached it and was able to get to BIOS. The BIOS version was V11.1, so the APU should work (according to the MSI website). In any case, I flashed it to V11.2 and still no changes. No video/post/bios/beeps when using the onboard graphics.
The BIOS displays the CPU name properly, even with the Radeon xxxxHD in the name, but when I go to the Integrated Graphics Devices Configuration in the BIOS, the only option there is Initiate Graphic Adapter set to PEG and it's grayed out, can't change it.
Not sure if it is relevant, but when removing the RAM it does not beep, neither with or without the external GPU.
Also I have noticed, that without RAM, when the fans speed up and then slow down, the power button has to be long pressed to turn off the PC. But when having the RAM and GPU, when it goes through the boots and sees that there is no OS, it displays a message and can be turned off by a short press on the power button. Same thing happens without the external GPU, but there is no video output, so I assume it does go through the boot process.
I've tried both the VGA and the DVI port, with cables and a monitor that works on another PC, I've also tried to clear the CMOS and flashed bios back to V11.1 (the one the motherboard came with).
I saw somewhere mentioned that the Initiate Graphic Adapter option can get disabled do to overclocking or some other BIOS settings (I have the default settings though). Is there anything I can try changing to enable it?
I am also thinking of installing on OS with the external GPU in it, and then maybe the video will output after it successfully boots.
I guess I could also try reseating the APU, but not sure if that would help.
    Thank you in advance!

    what external VGA you use?
can you boot when using onboard one ?
do you see anything on the screen?
    is there any beeps?
The external GPU I use is Asus GT 620.
I am not sure if I can boot with the onboard one, as nothing is displayed on the screen when using the onboard one. It might go through the boot process and stop when detecting that there is no OS installed yet. I'll try to see if it boots to LiveCD when I get home or install an OS using the external GPU.
When using the onboard GPU, I do not see anything on the screen.
    There are no beeps.

  • HP G7000 G7096EA Won't boot, no post/bios, blank grey screen

My HP G7000 G7096EA Won't boot, no post/bios, blank grey screen - It does appear to get into windows after return is pressed, albeit with blank grey screen.
I've reseated the RAM/harddisk, tried the power button reset method. Left it overnight with power battery/power.
I'm at a loss now with what to try. It does look to be a dead graphics chip, which is a shame and will probably put me off HP for life!

Ok, I've stripped it down to diagnose. Due to the piss poor cooling on the graphics chip, it's fried itself and melted the solder underneath.
This was actually the second laptop I had off HP as the first broke within a very short time.
Needless to say, I'll be buying from Dell in the future! What a crock of **bleep** HP are.
Oh yeah! And HP wanted £16 + vat just to speak to some outsourced crappy call centre!

  • Msi x79a-gd65 8d - BIOS 1.11 - post / LED error 01 with A & B

    Hello All,
I have just updated the BIOS from 1.7 to 1.11 and have recieved an LED / post error code of 01 on BOTH A and B. I have removed the the AC as well as the CMOS battery, still no go. The upgrade went fine until the reboot. Any help would be appericated... I have done some research and have concluded I am not the only one experiencing this issue, appears to be a bad release.
Once again any help would be great.
OS version - Win 7 x64 sp1 with post updates
    Hardware - I7 3820 with Intel Extreme Masters Limited Edition DDR3 16GB (2 x 8GB) PC3-15000 Kit

If you flash allot of bios, you undoubtedly have had problems with difficult flash drives.
    Use this guide:
    http://www.bay-wolf.com/usbmemstick.htm
To re-create a bootable usb flash drive, then run the forum flash tool. If the flash tool fails again for some odd reason you can do this manually.
Also, you want to use option 1 and point it directly at the entire compressed archive that you would have downloaded and placed on your desktop. Make sure you didn't place the compressed archive onto your flash drive or there will be an error.

  • P67A-GD65: failed BIOS update, no more post

    Hi,
I had updated my P67A-GD65 (B3) to the new 4.3 BIOS, after using a much older one, based on the description for improved PCI-E performance. The experience was a nightmare though, and not only could I no longer overclock in the BIOS (nor the Control Center software), but my video card, a Radeon 7870, became highly unstable. I had backed up my BIOS before this, and proceeded to downgrade to it from the BIOS utility. It gave me a warning that the BIOS file was not for my motherboard, which i understandably ignored, since that was what it had been running before. Lo and behold, the machine will no longer post at all and I have just about thrown in the towel.
I did some searches here and cleared the CMOS via the jumper, and tried the recovery tips I saw regarding booting with the CTRL-Home keys pressed, but no sign of life at all. I live in Brazil, so sending this for tech support will mean some weeks and shipping abroad. Before I do that, does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

I Think MSI must advise all users that some procedure of flashing are dangerous, like "in Bios" and "in Windows".
MSI should simply remove from official site these flashing possibilities.
Perhaps I exaggerate, but it is not normal that the flashing procedure fails with official tools.
I think the fact their new BIOS is so problematic is a much worse issue than this failed flash problem that killed my computer. I did not mention that after all those problems I described with 4.3, I actually downgraded to 4.2 to see the exact same problem. It was at that point that I chose to move back to the older BIOS family which led to the present standstill.
