GDI/Driver error in rendering - XP Service Pack 2

Hi There
We are having an issue with XP SP2. After the installation, ip based
printing worked fine, but Queue based print broke.
Broke: -Print jobs sit in local machine queue. Windows system event logs
return the following errors in order.
1.) Document failed to print due to GDI/Driver error in rendering.
2.) The description for Event ID ( 6161 ) in Source ( Print ) cannot be
found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information
or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be
able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and
Support for details. The following information is part of the event:
Microsoft Outlook - Memo Style, USERNAME, HP LaserJet 2300 Series PCL 5e,
NT EMF 1.008, 65536, 0, 1, 0, \\COMPUTERNAME, 2 (0x2), .
We have the following system configs:
Windows XP SP2 - All current hotfixes (Installed in batch after SP2 install
via ZENWorks)
Novell Client 4.9.0
We tried to upgrade one of the affected machines to the latest Client, with
no effect. Note that IP based printing works fine.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Henry

Capture is done via a print group, which uses capture.exe on logon. The odd
thing which came up in testing yesterday is this:
User logs on gets LPT1 :PrinterX
User cannot print to PrinterX gets event log errors
Install 2nd printer driver on LPT2
Using "Capture printer port" via Big Red N, capture LPT2 to PrinterX (same
Queue)
Print to LPT2 works fine.
Retry of LPT1 still gets event log errors
Delete Capture of LPT1, recapture LPT1
User cannot print to LPT1
User has full admin rights to workstation, upgraded video drivers, and the
latest printer driver from HP. (was using an older one before)
I am stumped.
-Henry
> How is the capture actually done? Using CAPTURE.EXE or via the C32
> properties? Have you tried to delete the capture, restart the
> workstation, and recapture?

  • AveConnect driver error after SQL Server service pack upgrade

I am currently testing aveConnect 3.0 (connection optimized) for SQL Server 2000 on a machine we have here.We updated SQL Server with Service Pack 2 & 3 this morning and since then we've been getting the exception below. This is only since we added the service packs to SQL Server, before it worked fine.
java.sql.SQLException: [Avenir][JDBC SQL Server Driver] Connection refused: connect
I also tested it with the older version of AveConnect (2.2) which we've been using until recently, and it returned the same error.

  • Will there be a driver for Vista 64 w/SERVICE PACK 2????

It simply doesn't work on my machine. I have the latest drivers and they are only compatibel with service pack one.

< eeerm, sorry mate but we're all wondering if creative (which is not creative at all) will EVER create a new driver at all.
so, i guess that to make a driver for service pack 2 is a second thought.
i would suggest searching for a new driver in general. and IF you see one, well, you should go and gamble a bit cause it's gonna be one heck of a lucky day

  • Errors with Fixpack or Service Pack for Crystal Reports 2008

    all,
I am trying to update Crystal Reports Server 2008 since I understand that there is some security issue: SAP BusinessObjects Crystal Reports Server CMS.exe Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
I downloaded twice CRSRV03_0-10008663.EXE and the first download is 670.494 kb the second time is 517182 kb... something is wrong with SUPPORT PACKAGES AND PATCHES server at SAP....
I ran CRSRV03_0-10008663.EXE and  there isn't a setup.exe in this package and the downloads contains problems and some CAB are not being unpacked...
I never patch CRServer2008 and I wonder if I need to install the previous packs or patches and where I can download the service pack 3
    Thanks

  • T-500 running Windows Vista - Error trying to install Service Pack 2

I just spent my entire Saturday trying unsuccessfully to install SP2 for Windows Vista on my T-500.  My laptop has Vista Home Premium as the OS and is fully patched with SP1.
The message I get is "Error_not_found (0x80070490)"  when I try to install SP2
I ran SFC /Scannow and got a message that there are corrupt components and a direction to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS that has a huge file I cannot comprehend.
I also ran the "System Update Readiness Tool" prior to trying to install SP2 with no apparent effect.
I have tried various approaches to this such as running System Restore and reapplying everything  with reboots in-between.
I confirmed no spyware and also disabled my antivirus program (NOD) during updates with no effect.
Has anyone else out there had a similar problem who might be able to offer advice?
    Thanks,
    The Hoy

Are you sure you have the proper file downloaded for your system? x86 if you are running 32bit Vista and x64 if 64bit.
Other than that, you might try to use Windows Update. Note that you need to install all updates, possibly including IE8 before Windows Update will offer you SP2.
You might also try installing all updates from Windows Update and then running your stand alone SP2 installer, to see if that solves the problem.

  • Deadline + latest service packs = meh

I have an approval step for travel expenses with a 5-day modeled deadline that escalates the approval to the supervisor.  This has worked for a few months in production but since we migrated to the latest service pack release, the modeled outcome takes over but the original workitem doesn't get completed.  It stays active in the users inbox.
I have no idea why and running the deadline job again doesn't do anything.
It's going to the next step, just not completing the previous which is counter-intuitive to the whole workflow process.
The agent determination for the next step is getting an error but it worked before even when it did and for it to get to the next step to even check the agent determination it had to complete the previous...well you get the idea.

    Hello,
Sounds like a bug, assuming nothing else has changed. Did/does it happen in the Test system as well?
"The agent determination for the next step is getting an error"
What sort of agent determination, what sort of error?
    Also - which service pack?!

  • Service Pack 2 issues

I'm sure this has been answered before, since I know for a fact I'm not the only one experiencing this problem, but I can't seem to find a post about it. I got an ipod nano as a gift and I can't get itunes installed on my computer. I'm running a 64 bit version of xp, so I know I can't use the 64 bit version of itunes. I tried downloading the 32 bit version instead, but it keeps giving me the error that it requires Service Pack 2 to be installed and exits me out.
Well...I have Service Pack 2 installed, and it's been there for a while. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes multiple times and nothing works. Does anyone have solutions for this?

    See the following post

  • Display problem after update XP service pack 2

Can anyone advice me on the following :
I installed the XP service 2 (Xp pro) on my Satellite Pro 2100 and ever since I have at the right side of the display a black border that is not used of about 2 cm wide.
I've tried installing the latest nvidia geforce driver but that didn't solve the problem.
Before the update my resolution was put to 1024x768 32 bit colors, but now I can only put it to 969 x 768 ? Never heard of this resolution before but now my screen is no longer jumping from left to right.
    Anyone any ideas?
    Thanks already,
    pLippo

    Hi pLippo,
it seems the display driver is not compatible to the Service Pack 2. I understand your issue in this way, you have this problem after installing the Service Pack and not before.
In my opinion you could download and install the latest display driver from toshiba (https://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com) under Support and Download page.
If this doesn't solve the problem you could wait until toshiba releases a new display driver or you uninstall the service pack 2.
    Bye Hans

  • Error Using the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 3

    Hi,
Im using the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 3. The connection is succesfully, but when I use de statement.executequery() method, there is the follow exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'PEC_COUNTRY'.
    This is my code:
    ResultSet resultSet;
    Statement statement;
    Connection connection;
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver").newInstance();
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://S0MALMUERTA:1433;user=sa;password=");
    statement = connection.createStatement();
    resultSet = statement.executeQuery("SELECT COY_INX, COY_NAME, COY_ICO FROM PEC_COUNTRY
");When I make the last instruction, occurs the above exception
    Thanks in advance
    Luija

The way you are connecting, the default database used will be 'master' and i guess that the table PEC_COUNTRY was defined in another database.
If it is the case you need to specify the database name.
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://S0MALMUERTA:1433;DatabaseName=yourdb;user=sa;password=");

  • Office 2013 with Service Pack 1 installation error about "search path"

I have an automated installation technique that has worked fine with Office 2010 Pro Plus (32-bit), incorporating the latest Service Pack into the network administrative installation point (under \updates), adding 10 foreign languages to the network administrative
installation point, creating a custom .msp with the OCT (that goes into \updates too), editing the config.xml files, and then running setup.exe from that network administrative installation point. This works on 32-bit Windows XP clients and on 32- and 64-bit
    Windows 7 clients.
For Office 2013 Pro Plus, I have built the network administrative installation point exactly the same way (original DVD files + languages + SP1 updates + config.xml updates), but the installation is failing with every type of client, all with
the same error message. The network administrative installation point is readable by the normal installing account, but I even get the same error when I login as me and initiate setup.exe manually, and I have all rights to this point.
Here's the critical point from a log file:

I cannot find any references to this exact error anywhere on the Internet. Can anyone tell me what this means, and how I fix it?

As automated, the utility that runs setup.exe maps a drive letter to
\\archive.ads.college.edu\archive\KBOXalt using a kboxmap AD account, which has read access to the whole \KBOXalt tree. I used that same kboxmap AD account manually to simulate what the utility does, and hit the same problem. But here's what's
    odd: right next to that
    \\archive.ads.college.edu\archive\KBOXalt\Office2013 directory is an
\\archive.ads.college.edu\archive\KBOXalt\Office2010 directory, both created the same way, and the Office 2010 installation has always worked perfectly using the kboxmap AD account. I don't understand why Office 2013 is only working for an account with
read/write access, where Office 2010 worked fine for an account with only read access. Especially when the Office 2013 resource kit documentation clearly states that the account running the installation should only have read access, nothing more. (All this
KBOX stuff comes from the fact that our deployment environment is a Dell KACE KBOX 1000. However, that plays no part in the problem: ignoring the KBOX 1000, I can manually recreate the problem every time.)

  • Error when uninstalling App-V RDS client: Product: Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) Client for Remote Desktop Services 5.0 Service Pack 2 x64 -- Error 1324. The folder path 'C:' contains an invalid character

Issue:  experienced when attempting to uninstall the App-V 5.0 SP2 RDS client.
Event Log:  Product: Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) Client for Remote Desktop Services 5.0 Service Pack 2 x64 -- Error 1324. The folder
path 'C:' contains an invalid character
Symptoms (when in this current state):
Unable to uninstall the SP2 client
You can upgrade the client (via hotfix) and uninstall the hotfix, but you will not be able to remove the SP2 client
AppvVfs filter driver will not create an instance, therefore applications will not be able to read into existing streamed VFS content, or trigger sparse files to stream content.  (you can still stream the content via other means, like the UI or powershell)
Because of the AppvVfs filter driver not instantiating, applications that depend on licences that exist in VFS will not be able to be read causing certain applications to react as if the license does not exist or is an incorrect format

    Resolution:
Check for the existence of a hidden folder named %appdata% in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Application Virtualization\Client folder.  (You will need to un-check the folder options box in windows explorer for "Hide
protected operating system files" to see it)
If the hidden %appdata% folder exists, delete it.
Proceed to uninstall the App-V client
After a clean uninstall and removal of remnants of the client, reinstall the client again and apply the latest hotfix available (Hotfix 2 for SP2 at a minimum).

  • TS1717 Having trouble running iTunes version 11.0.2 on a Dell Laptop running Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1.  Keep getting an error message "the software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly..." reinst

Having trouble when I launch iTunes (version 11.0.2) on my Dell Laptop running Windows 7 Professional (service pack 1).  I get an error message indicating software required to communicate with iPod and mobile phones was not installed correctly.  Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?  I normally respond with OK and it immediately tells me "could not be repaired.  Please reinstall iTunes..."  I have done this a number of times to no avail.

I also notice Quicktime is not getting installed at all.
That one is normal nowadays (ever since the iTunes versions 10.5.x).
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Vista Service Pack 2 install error message and Realtek incompatibility

Just want to inform that service pack 2 install gave me an error message when I installed it on a clean rebuild of my Toshiba laptop. Something about an incompatible driver. As I had already installed the latest drivers from Toshiba pages, I choose the 'ignore and continue' action at install, and the update successfully completed.
I then ran the Windows Upgrade advisor utility (just search a Microsoft website to find it) which checks for hardware/driver compliance with Vista.
Their report says that the Realtek RTL8187B wireless adapter driver has an issue with Vista, and recommends that the latest driver be installed. Since I do have the latest Toshiba driver installed, what is the procedure to follow?
The wifi connection with this laptop functions well, with the only 'problem' being a 45 second delay when waking up from sleep mode to being able to open a new web page. This is the time it takes to establish a connection to my router/modem.

    > Their report says that the Realtek RTL8187B wireless adapter driver has an issue with Vista, and recommends that the latest driver be installed. Since I do have the latest Toshiba driver installed, what is the procedure to follow?
You could try the Realtek WLan driver from the Realtek driver page.
There you can find the latest Realtek drivers for different Realtek chips.
But to be honest I would not be worried about this massage.
Something like that can happens always after any installations of the Microsoft service packs.
I remember that many drivers were not supported by SP1 but they ran properly
    So take it easy ;)
