GDS repository for MDM server

Greetings,
A couple questions for GDS experts...
1. Is there a GDS repository for MDM server? I am asking about an .a2a file. I am not able to find one. Could you please guide me to the location from where I can download it?  Thanks.
2. When we extract data from ERP, it is stored on MDM server. This much I gathered from different presentations but in which repository does it go to?
3. If there is an MDM repository for GDS solution then can we modify it and add more fields to it?
Regards,
-T

Hi,
I checked the directory listing of the folder where I extracted that zip file and as you can see below there is no a2a file.

Thank's for your help. I figured out that there was a problem with the network card on the server. I changed the network card and everything worked just fine. But this is a good hint for my tests.

  • Region wise Repository for MDM ?

    Hi,
We are in Migration of CCM to MDM.
In CCM we have so many catalogs.
So we are creating 3 repostoteries in MDM based up on the region.
Can any pls let me know the how the supplier data can be replicated to MDM ?
    we dont have XI.
Please let me know is there any jobs to replicate.
    Regards
    Venkatesh P

    Hello Venkatesh P
Import  manager and mdis help you.
You can configure integration between MDM and CCM without PI.
for data exchange you can use files
    1) export data from CCM to file
    2) put that file to inbound MDM directory
    3) configure mdis for automatic import

  • Creating Repository for JCO Server

    Hi all,
I have seen examples that we have to build the repository manually in the jco server codes .
    e.g.
    MetaData fmeta = new JCO.MetaData("STFC_CONNECTION");
            fmeta.addInfo("REQUTEXT", JCO.TYPE_CHAR, 255, 0, 0, JCO.IMPORT_PARAMETER, null);
            fmeta.addInfo("ECHOTEXT", JCO.TYPE_CHAR, 255, 0, 0, JCO.EXPORT_PARAMETER, null);
            fmeta.addInfo("RESPTEXT", JCO.TYPE_CHAR, 255, 0, 0, JCO.EXPORT_PARAMETER, null);
            repository.addFunctionInterfaceToCache(fmeta);
I would like to know is there anyway to access the structures of from SAP to build the repository in my jco server ? Such that i do not need to define this manually.
    Deeply appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

Seems like there are examples provided in JCO 2.x and JCo 3.x zip package.

  • MDM Server Password Parameter in SRM Web Service for SRM MDM Catalog 2.0

    Hi Experts,
We have password set on our MDM server. I am little confused about how to define MDM server password parameter in external Web service Call structure in SRM System for SRM MDM Catalog 2.0.
Will Catalog webservice work, if we don;t define password for MDM server in webservice??if No, then please let me know how to define MDM server password in SRM websevice.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shiv

    Hi Shiv,
The MDM Server password is needed when you are changing Webdynpro UI Configuration.
For catalogs, all you need is the repository userid/password parameters in the call structutre.

  • MDM Server Connection

    Hi,
I am trying to configure the MDM 5.5 and unable to connect the server.
    1. I've installed the software on windows
    2.Started the MDM server service.
3.Mounted the MDM server by giving my machine name but I see the grey icon and could not do anything.
Please let me know what should I do?

    Hi suren,
    Please follow these steps:
    1. Start the MDM server service by going to Control Panel--> Administrative Tools --> Services and then Select '<b>Start Service' for 'MDM Server'</b>.
<i>plz note that this service is available where MDM Server is installed and it should be running on that machine.</i>
    2. Now go to Console Right Click in <b>'Console Hierarchy Pane'</b>. Select <b>Mount MDM Server</b> from <i>Context Menu</i> and specify the<i> IP address or Host Name</i> of <b>MDM Server</b> where it is installed.
<i>plz note that it is IP address of MDM Server only and not where you are using your Console. It will be same only if Console and server are  installed on same machine. </i>
    3. For the Mounted MDM Server Go to  <i>Console Hierarchy Pane</i> right click on it and Select <b>Start Server</b>.
    Just try this out.
    Plz revert if any queries.

  • Initialization of MDM Server Password

How to initialize MDM Server Password?
While starting Console application, one need to connect to server by starting MDM Server. If it is password protected, how to initialize the password?
How and where these controls are provided?

    Hi Rajesh,
By default, MDM Server is not initialized with any password.
    Setup password for MDM Server:
Once the MDM server is mounted and started. Right click on the server and click "Change Password". Enter the new password and confirm the password.
    1. When you try to mount the password protected MDM server<b>(Which is in Running state)</b> to the MDM Console then it will ask for the password.
    2. If the password protected MDM Server is mounted and stopped. It will ask for the password once you try to start the MDM Server.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Creating MDM repository for Material Master Data

    Hello MDM Gurus,
I am new to SAP MDM. I want to create MDM repository for Material Master. What I unddertand is, I can create repository using Bussiness Content shiped with MDM software. I will copy *.a2a file to archive folder of MDM server and unarchive repository. I have following question for you.
    1. HOw do I use export maps and import maps which I found in Busines contenst\Material folder?
    2. How do I use MDM Lookup Tables which is xml document in Busines contenst\Material folder?
    3. Why is the use of MDMGX_55520_Material.txt file which I found in Busines contenst\Material folder?
    4. What is the use of *.xsd files and how can I use them?
    Thanks,
    Bhupesh

    Hi Bhupesh
    1. HOw do I use export maps and import maps which I found in Busines contenst\Material folder?
save all the map files on your loacl machine. open import manager and select file-> Import, browse to the .map file and save the map with a meaningful name. now next time connect to the source file you want to import and OPEN the map saved.
    2. How do I use MDM Lookup Tables which is xml document in Busines contenst\Material folder?
Businees content contains the standard  ECC refernce tables like countries, regions etc which can be refreshed from ECC. for this you have to configure MDMGX, defining all the ports in MDM and in ECC the tables from which data has to be refreshed. refer to below threads for details.
    Extract Data usnig MDMGX
How to Export Materials from ERP to MDM 7.1 via MDMGX?
    3. Why is the use of MDMGX_55520_Material.txt file which I found in Busines contenst\Material folder?
This helps us in configuring the table extraction from ECC, refer to thread-> Extract Data usnig MDMGX
    4. What is the use of *.xsd files and how can I use them?
Schema files are used for syndicating the records from MDM to source system. Say we want to syndicate material master from MDM to ECC and in ECC they will be posted via MATMAS05 IDoc. these schemas are the structure of IDoc which will contain the values which will be syndicated from MDM.
Let me know if you know some more details.
    regards
    Ravi

  • SAP MDM-GDS repository structure

    Hi,
Does anybody have any input or knowledge of SAP's direction regarding repository structures for MDM and GDS now that they've begun integrating the functions into the MDM solution the offer?
At present, whilst the GDS Console is basically just accessing data in an MDM repository, it can't be your core MDM product data repository, but rather it has to be a separate one, set up specifically for GDS and nothing else, and thus it needs to be populated separately.  I am wondering if this is a long term vision, or just a result of the way the package has been developed and that further integration will be forthcoming.
    Any ideas?
    Steve

    Hello lis716
I'm not recomend working with SAP MDM database directly moreover modify some data at Database level because database structure is close information. (i had expiriens to mass upload users and their roles directly in MDM database, after that operation repository hasn't been started - repair returned a lot of errors and i was very happy when repository has been started)
You can lost important data because database structure may be modify in any time.
SAP MDM provide API for different development platforms as is .NET, ABAP, JAVA, COM.
My suggestion you should use API in your application for connect to data.
Additional information about API you can find here:

    HI Chris,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Could you expand on your answer, which bit is very doubtful?
Also in your knowledge would Apple work with a company and license it if the software they were developing was desired by consumer demand?
    Thanks

  • SAP MDM Consolidation exercise for eSAO Server

On page 4 in the sap mdm exercise under character "h" I shall map the "supplier id clone" to the "[remote key]" field. But this field is not available in the list of destination fields. How can I proceed?

Thanks Shambu again for the reply. My reply in line
But according to my knowledge having Database in different LPAR with dedicated hardware resources enables the performance stability in Production environment with huge number of records in MDM. As Database jobs need to have their own bandwidth without affecting the MDM hardware resource.
-Subin-> Since LPARS pool the resources in a box, why should there be an impact in performance?
Also application server i.e. MDM server can be restarted without affecting the Database server. Still it is upto your requirement about having a separate LPAR for database.
---> How would having both servers - db and MDM in same LPAR should impact each other during restarts.
Separate LPAR database can be further used for different tools as well in future using the MCOD functionality.
--> Not sure on this. by having different LPAR should not make any difference. am i right?

  • Error Message in MDM Server Log

    Hi Experts,
Can anybody tell me what could be the problems if we have the following scenario ?
For an example: Our MDM Server is based on 5.5 SP06, MDM Server name is DFM and our repository name is MDMQ110.
    1) Checking the Reports from this Repository MDMQ110 from MDM Console, no errors and no warning. This repository can be loaded successfully and completed.
    2) Server Log has an error in message:
Error: Service 'DFM', Schema 'MDMQ110_m000', ERROR CODE = 0,
    SELECT LENGTH(Data) FROM A2i_Misc_Blobs WHERE Id=1000
Thanks very much for your help in advance
    Regards,
    WD

    Hi Kanstantsin,
Thanks for your reply. I have done the stop and repair but It did not help any. By repair, there are no errors and warnings that have been fixed which I can see in the repository reports.
The Assertion Log has come up first with the messages like:
    6426            2010/01/12 09:07:08.500               Error: Data_2 accelerator does not exist in A2i_CM_Accelerator_Status
    6426            2010/01/12 09:07:08.683               Error: Data_53 accelerator does not exist in A2i_CM_Accelerator_Status
    4884 2010/01/12 09:43:30.335   Error: KeyWord_2_F4_Leng_USA accelerator does not exist in A2i_CM_Accelerator_Status
As soon as I run into MDM, the Server Log has come up the same messages:
It looks like not only happened to this repository. As I can see if I load any other repository, there are the same messages in Server Log but only the repository name in the message is different.
