GE 31591GE - cannot hear the other person after co...
Hi,
I am using a Skype GE phone 31591GE.
Since couple of weeks, only with the contacts that updated their skype version, the sound stops after couple of seconds of conversation. The other person is still able to hear me when the event happens.
With other skype users, with older SW version, it keeps working well.
On the GE phone, it is shown that it has the last updated version.
Could you please advise a solution?
Thank you!
Hi,
Thanks for dealing with this issue.
Basicaly, the problem started with the Skype updates from Mid-July. Any Skype version released from Mid-July on, has this issue.
If my understanding is correct, it is the same issue with:
http://community.skype.com/t5/Hardware/FreeTalk-ConnectMe-adapter-problem-noise-instead-of-normal/td...
"If you enable "tech info" on another side, than you can see: at few first seconds encoding sample rate (SR) is e-8 000 Hz, then changed to 12 000 Hz or 16 000 Hz."
So fixing this issue might solve many other problems.
Thank you!

I cannot hear the other person talk on my new iPhone 4s
Whyyyyyy???
Have you pressed the volume up on the side of the iPhone? Also, is it with everyone who calls or just a certain person?

Cannot hear the other party after greetings for the past 3/4 days
My father is in Uzbekistan, and me and my mother are in Russia and after the call connects we exchange greetings and all words turn into isolated sounds? Is there a reason for this? Will this be fixed any time soon or is this a connection problem?
Hi, I have been having similar issue, while calling my family in Uzbekistan. I can send texts only. Audio and video are not going through. So, the Uzbek authorities say it has to do with maintanence work currenly under way and this will continue unitl August 31.

I Just bought a second hand iPhone 4S I am having issues with the hearing during incoming and outgoing calls, I have turned the volume up and checked my settings but I still have trouble hearing the other person speak. It works if it's on speaker or if I have headphones plugged in. I need help desperately!!!!! Any suggestions on what to do???
Hey Itsanaasaunders,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues hearing sound while on a call (receiver wise, not speakerphone). The following resource provides troubleshooting steps for this symptom:
If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound quality is poor on iPhone - Apple Support
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203800
Clear the receiver
The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty. Here's where the receiver is:
Follow these steps, testing after each:
- Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or film.
If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device.
- Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
- While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.
Restart and update
1. Restart your iPhone and test again.
2. If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update to the latest version of iOS.

If you've tried these steps and there's still no sound or poor sound quality from your iPhone, contact Apple Support.

I can't hear the other person while facetiming on the Imac
I cant hear the other person while face timing on my imac but they can hear me
HI,
There have been similar issues with iChat and I will use that as an example first.
In iChat the Mic needs to be On (in the Video menu).
It also needs to be listed in iChat Menu > Preferences > Video section > Microphone Drop down and this needs to match ther Mic set up in System Preferences > Sound > Input.
In addition to this the Mic needs to be "turned up" high enough in the System Preferences to work with the app.
So If you Buddy cannot hear you it is your Problem when it comes to iChat.
If you cannot hear the Buddy it is much more likely that they have not set up the Mic in System Preferences or have the Mic Off in iChat.
Moving to FaceTime you will find a Mic Setting in the Video menu (if you have two or more Mics).
If you do then the System Preferences > Sound > Input and the volume setting there needs to match the choice in the App.
As it is your contact that you cannot hear you need to get them to check their settings first.
As for your end, it will be worthwhile doing a PRAM reset.
Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD ( or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.

Using FaceTime between 2 iPhone 4s I can hear the other person but we only see ourselves, how do we see the other person
Once the connection is made you should automatically see the other person full screen, with a small inset picture of yourself. Normally you only see yourself full screen after you initiate the call prior to the other person accepting it. Are you both connected to wi-fi and are you initiating the call by tapping the FaceTime button on the other person's contact?

what can i do, when i call someone with mit i-phone, i only hear the other person, when i press the loud-speaker button, does anyone know, how to solve this problem
Does hte iPhone say headphones when you adjust the volume, even when they aren't connected?
If it does, there might be some lint or something in the jack. Take a look at this Apple document -> iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers -

When I make a call, I can hear the other person but they can't hear me? Tried everything. Took it to the local ATT store and all they could tell me is it shouldn't be happening and to take it to an apple store? Any ideas?
Try to isolate the issue. Use earphone and if the issue still happens then it might be the phone issue.
- If earphone works fine then it may be the mic on the iPhone. Try cleaning the debris on the iPhone. Finally a restore of the device and try to set it as a new device. Tha will isolate if it is a software or hardware issue.
- You can take the phone to Apple store once you have tried all this. -
