GE60 0ND Wireless adapter issues

My GE60 0ND keeps disconnecting from nternet and constantly keeps turning off my adapter and takes forever with troubleshooting to finally tun it back on..
Randomly disconnects but tablet/phone are connected... Also having microsoft NET framework debugging issues with SCMII
Really don't know what's happening...

Hello StewartJR,
What's your OS?
SCM is used for Windows 8.
S-bar is used for Windows 7.
Did you mean your network adapter keeps turning off whenever you boot up? Or randomly turning off?
It can be controlled by S-bar or Fn+F8 under Windows 7.
Under Windows 8, you can use SCM, switch the airplane mode, or manually switch it in "PC Settings" -> "Wireless".
Suggest you re-install your system and install the officially-released drivers from MSI website.
http://www.msi.com/support/nb/GE60_0ND.html#down-driver
BTW, GE60 0ND doesn't support Windows 8.1 if you are running it. Unpredictable behaviors may occur.

  • H520s Wireless adapter issues

Okay, So I'm having some issues with my H520s. The wireless adapter has been quite dodgy for the past month or so, but after using lenovo rescue to get it back to 'original condition' it's completely stopped working. I've looked through device manager and there's no mention of a wireless adapter, and any attempt to install drivers has done nothing.
Before this, I'd have to use the Network Tasks> Repair network (or simmilar) after every startup in order to get wireless working.
    I have no files on the computer I need to keep, so formatting it to fix it is fine. I just want my wireless back ;_;
If you need any more information, please ask, and I'll get back to you as soon as I see it. Hope you can help ^^
    EDIT: Oh, also,
Said computer is running Windows 8, preinstalled. (Listed as 'Win 8 MM' on the side, incase that means anything special)

    Hi llharry,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
If your device manager is not showing your Wifi under device manager / Network adapters.
It may be having issue with the driver and may show as Network Controller or unknown device with
     a yellow sign on it.
If not then It may had been disabled inside BIOS.
Try Booting into BIOS by shutting down the computer and turning it back On and tapping F1 .
Once Inside BIOS look under Configuration TAB and or under Network setup
Look for an option saying Wireless lan or Wireless adapter.
Make sure it is enabled then save and exit.
    Regards
    Solid Cruver

  • MSI GE60 0ND infamous fan issue

    Hello,
I have a GE60 0ND and I'm encountering the fan issue where the fan keeps starting and stopping even when the computer is idle. It is becoming infuriating and I want to make this stop.
Reading about the issue I gathered that I had to update the firmware. So I did, using a bootable key set up with rufus.akeo.ie tool, and then after booting on it calling ecall.bat. I did the procedure not to mess up EC (removing battery and charger, waiting 10mn before booting). I then checked the FW version from the BIOS system info and it reads
    Bios Version: E16GAIMS.10E
    EC Version: 16GAEMS1 Ver4.05
So yay, I guess? But the fan keeps spinning up and down as it did before. Should I update the BIOS to 10F as well? How should I proceed not to mess my notebook up?

Okay so I suppose there is some kind of transition here... My computer doesn't do his fan weirdness while idle anymore a few minutes after startup (it kind of does some weird clipping (?) sound at time but I'll probably just have to clean the fan). Sorry for the inconvenience, the info on this forum in invaluable.
Yes, that's my point to wait it for 15 minutes
Because from my personal experience it makes the same thing several times in the past
and it fixed by his own few minutes later and then was fine
so i suspect its some kind of checking/or cleaning FAN mechanism like you said sometimes after startup
but what triggers this behavior is not known
from my experience its rare but can hapend sometimes

its not because of dust, it does this at new machine and year later i've checked the FAN multiple times and it's in perfect conditions
but haven't notice this issues from 7-8 months
but of course open the NB to check your FAN to check it!
    this is always helpfull

  • GE60 0ND & Shadowplay/Gamecaster issue

Sorry if this topic has been raised, but I couldn't find the exact answer for my question.
So I have the MSI GE60 laptop (I guess it is GE60 0ND, with i5-3230 and GTX660M, judging by its specs and appearance), which I realy adore, as it is the lowest price notebook among its class, still it's performance and sustainability are just fine with me.
However, I have recently decided I would record my gaming and that's where I started having problems.
I have the up-to-date GeForce Experience & GPU drivers installed, and GFE says my system specs are just enough to run Shadowplay, but it won't record.
First it only showed the FPS count, no status icon, and sure enough it didn't capture my gaming. Upon googling the issue I found out that Shadowplay won't record unless you have turned the desktop capture on. I tried to do so, but failed due to the box for this option disappearance upon turning Shadowplay on.
I googled further and found out that this issue is solved via editing/adding registry entry (DwnEnableUser or something like that). After that it looked like Shadowplay is ready to finally record something, but still it only showed me the FPS count.
Then It appeared that desktop with its contents was run by Intel iGPU no matter what I do (tried adjusting GeForce control panel options, but to no avail; same thing with Intel HD graphics control panel. Probably I didn't change some crucial option, though). And here I found myself in a sort of a dead end, as further googling found only semi-related answers and solutions (that, for isntance, had nothing to do with Shadowplay or any screen capture software; or with Nvidia mobile GPU, etc.).
At this point I just want to know if it is even possible to use Shadowplay on a laptop with Nvidia GPU and Optimus.
BTW, I tried Gamecaster. Not only it gave me a considerable FPS drop, but in the end it turned out it was just recording the black screen... oddly, with a cursor appearing on the occasions when I would edit my loadout in the game (sound, however, was captured just fine).

Hi, though your system can pass the minimum requirement of Shadowplay, I think that is only for reference, you may need higher specs to run Shadowplay smoothly.
Or you can try to find solution on other forum:

  • GE60 0ND - Yay another issue..... Windows 8 endless restarting

Basically I had to have my GE60 0ND RMA'd mid november due to it not starting butr had power.. RMA'd it and they had fixed the issue but my laptop came back worse, everything ran slowly, constant program crashing issues, 100% HDD loading with barely 1MBps loading, laptop unresponsive a lot of the time and so on
My latest issue just now, I went to shut down my laptop and remained at a black screen for 5 minutes and therefore lead me to turn my laptop off at the power, (there was no mention of windows updating at aII).. So I turn my laptop on and for some reason it was updating... Come back and find that it's in a constant restart loop.
Laptop restarts, MSI logo happens then leads into reconfiguring windows into a restart however, after the restart it leads into failure windows configurating reverting changes then restarts, then repeats... Configure into revert into configure  into revert....
So, how do I fix this impossible situation....

When you sent laptop back to service center for repair, usually they will do a system recovery. Maybe this FAQ will help you fix the problem.

    Driver: 15.5.4.45
Lately my laptop is constantly disconnecting, slow or just won't work properly for a period.
For example, today was the worst.... wifi is jumping from 2/3/5 bars and constantly disconnecting and while doing this my samsung galaxy s4 is watching a 1080p with a minute buffer ahead with no issues at all while on same wifi. It is clear zomething is wrong but i have no clue what to do...
Im using my lhone now to make this post as my laptop just isnt connecting long enougb......
Can someone please help as this is a nightmare, speed tests show nothing all keep saying same thing even isp speed tests show nothing wring.

I guess it's the antenna quality issue. If so, it will require a RMA.

  • Wireless Adapter Issues

So I originally bought a Netgear N150 a year or two back and it has always worked out for the box with any GNU/Linux Distribution until a few months ago.  After a kernel upgrade my connection became very inconsistent, I always received very low speeds (>1mbps), and constant time outs and packet loss.  I figured it was issues with the driver so I went ahead and installed ndiswrapper and installed the Windows drivers but the issue still persisted.  At this point I became a little frustrated and checked to see if the issue was still there while using it on my brothers Windows machine but it was fine.  I tried it on my laptop that runs Arch and still had the same issues as my desktop.  So I went ahead and booted into a Ubuntu LiveCD and it worked flawlessly.   I had spent about a week desperately trying different said solutions and searching but never came up with anything.
So I figured why not just a buy another since the N150 was pretty well obsolete so I bought the Asus N13(Not a big upgrade) since it got a lot of attention for working flawlessly on GNU/Linux.  Tried it out but still had the same issue.  Used ndiswrapper and tried all different Windows drivers that came with it, did everything I tried with the N150 but only had the same issue.  Works on Ubuntu and Windows but not with Arch, I also tried Crunchbang but still had the same issue.   I know this isn't an issue with the USB ports or hardware because I ran a Ubuntu LiveCD and both worked flawlessly.  Anybody have any ideas?

  • MSI GE60 0ND Wireless and bluetooth shortcuts and their lights.

Hi there! Sorry if i open this subject in wrong place.
I have bought a new MSI GE60 notebook. But its wireless and bluetooth lights don't work. Firstly they were working but today they didn't work. And fn+F8 and fn+f9 combinations don't work too. Bur wireless and bluetooth works. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

I'm having the exact same problem
and i'm pretty sure i have the latest bios
    what to do ??

  • MSI GE60 0ND and Intel Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 plus Bluetooth

I recently bought a Intel Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 plus Bluetooth Adapter (Model Number: 7260HMW) for my MSI GE60 0ND to replace the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135.
Wifi works without any problem, but bluetooth does not, even with the newest Intel drivers v3.1.1309.
The bluetooth device isnt even listed in the device manager - there are also no unknown devices.
I´m using Windows 8 - also tried Windows 8.1 and a Fedora 20 Live-CD with the same result.
There is no bluetooth device listed.
Could it be possible that bluetooth function of the Intel 7260HMW is somehow disabled in the bios?

I tried the Intel Dualband Wireless-AC 7260 plus Bluetooth Adapter in a Desktop Asus Maximus V Gene using a mPcie Combo-Adapter. Wifi and Bluetooth worked without any issue.
The Intel 7260 is definitly working.
Another issue regarding my MSI GE60:
I switched back to my Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135 and still have no bluetooth functionality. I thought it would be a driver issue, but there are still no bluetooth devices listed in the device manager Windows 8.1). Under Linux Fedora 20 are also no bluetooth devices present.
It seems like bluetooth is somehow hardware disabled. In bios are no bluetooth options visible
Edit: Using Fedora and FN-Key + F9 enabled bluetoth for the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135 again. Maybe when the SCM / FN-Key Application will work under Windows 8.1, enabling/disabling bluetooth using Windows 8.1 will be possible too

  • Problem/issue of nVidia GTX660M on GE60 0ND-298 with Windows 8.1

    Hi folks,
I am newbie here, so please forgive me,
if my post is too long and ugly.
I have "almost" the same problem as the user called "Ghost", but in my case there
are few differences. I am too user of MSI GE60-0ND notebook, but the version is 298CZ (MSI GE60 0ND-298CZ).
    some short info about me:
I am sort of experienced in PC maintenance, driver repairs, and software installing and setting up.
I had successfully and correctly helped at least  ca. 35+ people (including few relatives and friends)
with some problems regarding their desktop PCs or notebooks,
mainly they needed from me to solve some specific problem - some reinstall or
correct install/set up of the OS and drivers and etc. or other software programs they need to use in everyday life.
I had correctly updated/reflashed BIOS or firmware on more than 25 PCs (on ca. 4-5 PCs in last 4 months).
but I am not very skilled in PC HW reparation and assembly.
The problem I had is possibly simple (or not), but until now I couldn't find the working solution written
on the MSi Forum/thread or anywhere on the internet.
I have everything up to date, including Windows OS (8.1), drivers, BIOS and EC/FW from MSI
(as you can see from specs taken from Speccy 1.25, DxDiag, nVidia control panel and other software).
Well (or not?), the problem is that high demanding apps, like modern games or some CAD software/benchmarks i had recently
tested shown that my notebook is only using
the Intel HD4000 Graphics (in all situations even when it shouldn't) and not the dedicated high-performance
    nVidia GTX660M graphic.
I even used the nVidia Inspector 1.7.2 from the thread of Ghost's problem with the same nb/graphic card.
I played HL2 Ep Two and One, Garrys Mod 14.022 (latest), IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 with Ultrapack 2.1 + SAS1946 updates
(with tweaked settings to use high-quality perfection/perfect settings)
to test and look if the dedicated graphics card is working or not. In all cases it shown that the nVidia GTX 660M
didn't even heat up some grade or load up the textures, and it appeared as non active against the HD4000 that run like wild.
In some of the above mentioned games it wasn't sufficient and the games crashed and/or closed suddenly-
that happened in Garrys Mod 14,
something same happened in that modded IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 - but with it it crashed by saying that
    "il2fb.exe has stopped working".
To tell you more, before when i had plain windows 8, it didn't happened even once
(for the IL-2 Sturmovik was and is still set in the compatibility mode for Win XP SP3 - so everything should work),
in the case of HL2 Ep. Two it happened almost same as in Garrys mod 14.x . The game simply shut down and quit,
    and closed without saying anything.
By playing those games, i saw in the taskbar only the icon of Intel HD graphics 4000 looking as active.
The icon of nVidia in the taskbar panel stayed there or sometimes it completely disappeared,
and that indicates that pc was using only the Intel HD4000.
I tried to check for all updates, uninstall and reinstall Intel VGA HD4000 driver with latest official from Intel support,
and also after it by uninstall and reinstall of nVidia GTX660M driver with latest stable driver from nVidia page
with hope that the new drivers would do the thing and repair the errors/issues.
Until now I tried to solve my problem by myself,
but as nothing helped to solve the issue with dedicated nVidia card i had to visit this forum.
The current state of my pc to sum the facts together - to see what could be wrong there:
    PC/Name-type: MSI GE60 0ND-298CZ (late summer 2013)
    OS: Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
Tech specs: CPU - Intel Quad Core i7-3630QM Ivy Bridge 22nm,
    RAM- 8GB DDR3/1600 MHz, HDD- 750GB (7200 rpm),

    nVidia VGA BIOS Version:   80.07.27.00.05
    Other drivers version
(which may cause the in-activity/problems of GTX 660M card)

    - Intel Management Engine Components (ME) v8.1.0.1281 **
    - Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) v9.0.0.1287 **
    - Intel SDK for OpenCL-CPU Only Runtime Package v2.0.0.37149
    - NVIDIA PhysX System Software v9.13.1220
(** I have found some info that outdated (buggy) Intel ME and MEI drivers, could be the cause why the PC
uses only on board HD Graphics 4000 and can't switch to dedicated GTX 660 M when some app needs it,
could this be the thing or not?
I am really not sure, if it is cause why my PC is sticking on use of only HD4000 VGA.
Should i update the ME or MEI driver to latest stable as mentioned*** or not?
(*** on win-raid com in thread about latest Intel Management Engine Drivers-Firmware and Tools)
I am aware that a careless update of Intel ME or MEI can brick your PC or installed OS and make it unstable,
that is why i don't want to do that thing,
i want do some other way how to solve the correct vga switching issue.
Could you please help me, to detect where is the cause of the problem
and then to help me to solve it somehow ??
Please tell me also, if you need some other info
(i can send the DxDiag report if needed or something similar).
I know that my problem looks same way as had the user called "Ghost",
but in my case the details are a bit different and specific.
I will wait patiently for your advices.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you, for that little advice.
Sorry i didnt answered sooner, was kinda busy last weeks.
I will specify the problem more - explain my investigation about the issue.
But I have GE60 0ND, and i somewhere read (on this forum but in other thread/topic)
that on GE 60 0ND the power button doesnt change its color from blue, either it actually uses Intel HD4000 or nVidia GPU GTX660 M.
If i am not wrong in that, i hope so / i can say that on my lap the power button never changed its color to some other.
It was and still is blue.
What i found from Speccy or from Nvidiainspector soft v1.9.7.2 was that my nVidia is generally
never used - even in games which were more demanding and were set in nVidia control panel to use nVidia GPU only
    and NOT the HD4000.
But i think there is also there some other, far deeper and worser problem.
In last few days I was checking the possible issues with current Intel chipset driver (Intel INF driver - currently v9.3.1025) and also with Intel Mangement Engine drivers (currently ME Components driver 8.1.1281 and ME Interface driver 9.0.1287).
To tell you more, the problem with GPU drivers started shortly after i updated the Win8 to 8.1, but other confusing symptom is that shortly after the pc boots up in to OS environment,
the screen flicker one time and then the nVidia's control panel icon in taskbar will dissapear.
That happens around one to five times in halfhour or hour, after the laptop was turned on. I am very confused, from it, because it looks like the pc is unstable or the Windows Explorer is crashing. After the holfhour it stops doing it, but some time ago i tried to fix it by comletely uninstalling and then reinstalling both of VGAs (HD4000 and nVidia GTX660M) with latest stable and official drivers - but it didnt solved the issue.
Also the icons on the desktop and in taskbar dissapear for a second and then reappear.
I tried to figure it out many times, but found that it wasnt Windows Explorer error. What is this problem?
Is it in INF chispet driver and ME/MEI driver or it is caused by some other corrupted driver?
I even wrote some notes about what I found out.
So there are my findings. The ME and MEI driver are responsible
for deciding the use of and handling interaction between the system's low- and high- performance/importance and on motherboard installed components.
If they are wrong or incompatible it causes some errors or that some of the used component will be not used because of the error.
Also same role, but sorta a bit different has the INF chipset driver, which is sorta above the ME and MEI driver and governs over them and over use of the other
CPU and MB components and periipheral devices, like USB2-3 controllers, Cardreader, charging function etc.
So my question is, i have found on  Intel support Chipset INF driver for 7 series - the v9.4.1027 (November 2013), about which i read
that is also suitable for 7 series express chipsets like HM76/77 (my is 76)- should i try to install these drivers ?
Same, i had a hard work to find more current ME and MEI driver for notebook with Intel's 7 series express chipset
which should solve my problem. I found on Lenovo support webpage ME driver v9.0.1310 (components driver) and MEI driver v9.0.1287(interface),
they are both in one installer.
I read about that installer in description and found out that,
that drivers are useful on any lap with the 7 series chipset.
Just the Lenovo added note that those drivers and higher are usable on some other newly adde types of notebooks.
The provider of the driver was Intel.
I carefully read also some other info, and just few days ago i read also
if someone want/really neeeds to update
Intel INF chipset driver and after it the ME/MEI driver - one should unistall all drivers that are managed by that INF and ME/MEI drivers.
That means both VGA drivers (CPU GPU and dedicated GPU), Cardreader driver, LAN and WLAN drivers,
audio driver, all intel drivers - like Rapid storage, SCM driver and so, and manually uninstall the ME Interface driver through Device Manager too.
My other question is, could someone of you help with this by telling me some other information/advice i possibly completely overlooked.
Currently, my PC is working poorly - not slow, but the blicking of the icons on desktop and taskbar shortly after the system's start up
is totally horrible and the nVidia GPU GTX660M is unable to work (by crashing the Nvidia control panel).
I feel now really lost on this GE60 laptop altough i have good experience how to set PC or notebook.
I never faced this kind of problem - i would be happy if i knew the way how to fix it for once/definitely and use the fullpotential of that notebook.
Every advice or your experience will be very welcomed.
    Thanks

  • Fan Issue MSI GE60 0ND 455 XDE

I´ve bought a MSI GE60 0ND 455 XDE laptop and installed the newest offical drivers, firmware and Win7. I´ve also built in a SSD and RAM. There is only one problem, the fan keeps spinning up and down every 10 seconds even when nothing is running on the laptop. If i change with rweverything the EC value in Field 72 from 29 into 30 there is no issue anymore, but if i reboot i have to do it again. Is there a possibility to fix it permanent? Maybe with a firmware update or an unlocked BIOS?
    Thank you!

  • MSI GE60 0ND Fan running at 100% issue

    Hi,
So for the past few months my laptop has been having the issue where it would have the fan speed increase to 100% then slow down and turn off. It would do this a lot. Anyway, tonight I was playing a game and next thing I heard the fan increase to 100%  but this time it made a loud almost grinding noise. And that's all it does now. It has slowed my boot up incredibly. I unplugged the fan to test this theory and my boot up was less than 10 seconds. So now I have a fan making a loud noise and creating issues with my laptop. I have a GE60 0ND windows 8.1. The bios has never been flashed and it came installed with windows 8. Can anyone help me? I have tried an EC Reset.

tell what's your BIOS and EC versions

  • MSI GE60 0ND - Fan Issue - Cooler Boost Button

    Hello,
I have a problem with my MSI GE60 0ND. The fan / cooler boost button above the keyboard is always glowing and sometimes very light flickering. The fan spins at a normal and quiet level.
When I press the button the fan starts spinning up and stays at the high level. The ligt of the button keeps glowing, but the flickering stops completly. When I press it again the fan goes back to a normal level, but the light keeps glowing.
I recently updates the EC-Version, because I had an issue with my fan which was really annoying. Before the EC update my fan kept spinning up and down every 10-20 seconds.
The temperatures ware always at a normal level. I own my MSI GE60 about one year. The spinning fan issue started just one month ago, but was fixed trough the update.
Some detailed information about my notebook:
    MSI GE60 0ND
    Bios: E16GAIMS.10F (Release version)
    EC-Version: 16GAEMS1 Ver4.05
I'm using Windows 7 x64 and tried also Windows 8.1 x64. Both have the same fan button issue.
Installing / Uninstalling MSI SCM utility didnt make any difference.
    Regards
    Thomas

fan is constantly spinning with the same, average speed. It goes faster when on stress but continue to spin when system is idle
    Bios Version: E16GAIMS.10F
    EC Version: 16GAEMS1 Ver4.05
Sorry to spoil that, but the fan was indeed always spinning before, too. But very quietly at a low rate! You could observe rotational speed in RWeverything and it did NEVER stop with that notebook (GE60) and the EC-version 14.04
If you want to go back, check out my post here. There are the old firmware files included as well. But read the readme.txt thoroughly first!
