Ge70 2PE-689XES Temperature Question

hello!
I bought a week ago the Ge70 2PE apache pro , and i was playing games at my house . But I am kinda worried about the temperature of the laptop!
When i am playing Warframe on ultra , it goest till 85 degrees.
Same happen with Tera on medium settings and 1600x900p
When I am playing League Of Legends or Heroes of the Storm the temperature of the CPU is around 75 degrees.
So: My question is:
Are those temperatures normal? I read in some other posts (with similar laptops models ) that the temperature is around 65-70 degrees... .
I am worried. Help! I am from Almeria , Spain. We are around 30ºC . I think the laptop is so hot because that. Could be?
I am sorry for my English. I am not English native! Dont be rude please

Just don't directly blow the vent, otherwise it will cause the resistance of the heat air flow.
Like the following scenario:
Fan air --> <-- Heat air direction from the vent
This will cause resistance, but if you blow the hot air from the side, it's helpful to take away the heat.
Fan air

Help to blow away the heat
Sorry for poor drawing...
Thanks you a lot for the advices I will put the fan right now in the correct position! xD

  • MSI GE70 2PE-40N worried about overheating

Hello. I am about to buy a MSI GE70 2PE-40N (http://www.elkjop.no/product/data/barbar-pc/MSIGE702PE40N/msi-ge70-2pe-40n-17-3-gaming-pc#tab-specs) (Norwegian page) with:
    Intel Core i7 4700MQ, 4th gen, 2,4 GHz
    16GB ram
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M, 2GB
(Is there more i need to add?)
And i just had these questions about overheating, and how to prevent overheating as i have heared bad things about this pc getting hot, and i have experienced other laptops reaching dangerously high levels.
How would the overheating problems be if i lower the maximum processor state while plugged in to 80-85%?
How would it affect the actual gameplay/fps if i lower it so?
Is it even recomanded to lower the maximum processor state while plugged in?
Do cooling pads even help with the overheating problem? (atm got a Cooler Master NotePal X-Slim Ultra-Slim Laptop Cooling Pad with 160mm Fan (R9-NBC-XSLI-GP)) (http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-NotePal-Ultra-Slim-R9-NBC-XSLI-GP/dp/B005C31HC0)
    Do termal paste help?
If termal paste helps, which type/what should i look for?
And last, which temperature should i aim for? 80C-90C?

The GE70 should handle heat ok when gaming! Just be sensible and play in a room with good temperature and on a cool surface ( desk etc ) Cooling pads can help also!
I would leave the thermal paste.
Hope you enjoy your new notebook its a great machine!

  • GE70 2PE secondary monitor resolution issue

So I bought a MSi GE70 2PE yesterday and today I tried connecting it with my tv with HDMI, which has worked fine both with my stationary computer as well as other computers, using the same cable.
Today however when i plugged it into this laptop I got a low 1024 resolution on my tv and the settings for resolution wont allow me to change it to any higher and can't duplicate the screen and extention of screen isn't working properly either as all of my screen apparently can't fit into the 1024 resoltuion, trying to bypass this by changing the resolution while plugging in the HDMI cable the TV just turned black and no sound was transmitted with the HDMI cable.
As far as I can understand for some unknown reason the secondary monitor uses the intel integrated graphics card, I've update the drivers both for this and for the nvidia card.
As for updated drivers, yes all is updated and have tried the general common solutions, the computer was bought yesterday so having a hard time understanding how this can't work properly.
Thanks in advance for any solution.

Actually there is some more questions according to your post:
    1. Does the notebook display normally when it's not connected to any external monitor?
    2. Where did you change the resolution when you try to bypass the issue? In Intel's graphics properties? or on TV?
    3. How did you set the duplicate mode? by using Fn+F2 or WIN+P?

  • Have an GE70 2PE and want to add an SSD

Hey all.  I'm interested in picking up an SSD for my GE70.  I'm a little confused as to what I can do.  With the reading I've done it appears I have 2 X mSata slots but I can only use one.  Am I looking for an SSD that uses both these slots?  Or am I totally out of it and any SSD will do?  I only plan on installing one even if I have two mSata slots.  Thanks and sorry for the confusing question?
Edit:  Really to simply the question,  what kind of SSD do I need to purchase to successfully use this feature on my GE70 2PE?

It's better to check MSI service center in advance.
As i know, warranty rule details are different in different countries. It should have a authorized center or shop to do this.

  • GE70 2PE - Issue with an external monitor

    Hello there,
First of all I want to apologize for my english language, since Iam from non-English speaking country.
Few days ago I just got new MSI Laptot GE70-2PE series. Iam not so experienced with using a laptops at all, I was using a desktop pc whole time.
When I actualy tried to plug in my external monitor(via HDMI), nothin happened, not even a display flashed or anythin else and monitor just show that it got no signal. So I have tried almost everythin what I found on the internet and nothing work...
While I was trying to solve the problem I have disabled a driver for Intel HD graphic and then turned it back on(while I had still plugged monitor into laptop) and suddenly my external monitor get the signal and turned on. In my humble opinion something is wrong with driver for Intel HD graphic ?
If any1 could help me I would be really happy.
    Thanks

Kind of looks like it's a problem with the Intel Driver by the looks of that thread.....    I'm not sure there is much else we can do other than the workaround that you found and the ones posted in that thread.

  • New MSI GE70 2PE laptop screen not turning on/potential graphics problem

    Hi all,
This is very frustrating for me!
I've just bought a brand new MSI GE70 2PE gaming laptop for my partner and turning on causes the power on light to blink blue and orange - something i'm struggling to find any information online for. The screen remains black with no backlight or turning on. I have tried plugging the laptop through VGA into my monitor and it also says it cannot pick up any signal.
This is leading me to think it is some sort of graphics related problem. The disc drive is ejecting, I can hear the processor ticking along and all the fans etc are on - so it's not completely dead.
The fan is actually pumping out fairly warm air too, when left idle which to me seems a little odd too - I wouldn't thought it would be struggling at this point.
I have no idea what is going on, if the laptop is completely faulty or its something I am overlooking. It's supposedly 'brand new' - well the box was sealed and this problem has occurred from the first time I have tried to boot it.
I've tried running it on battery, purely on AC and this doesn't seem to make a difference.
Any ideas people? This is super frustrating and I don't want to have to get in contact with MSI about this for some sort of warantee job.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello hybridoriental,
Since your laptop is still brand new one under the warranty, I'll suggest you send it to the MSI service centers or MSI authorized service points for inspections.
The power light in orange means the system is accessing the discrete GPU. Looks like your laptop stuck in a loop before it started the BIOS. Just make sure you installed the battery and plugged the AC power before you turn it on. If it still doesn't work, it would be better and time-saving to send it to someone whom can inspect and take care of the laptop rather than figure it out by yourself.

  • MSI GE70 2pe keeps on sleeping!

    I have an MSI GE70 2pe.
The problem: I go AFK for a while and come back, the laptop is sleeping. I have checked all power options and the "advanced" options and settings for them and all sleep and hibernate functions are disabled. No clue where to look or what to do now..
Perhaps SCM has something to do with it?

Quote from: anmarjamali on 14-December-14, 04:15:59
I did that. I checked the settings and they are all disabled or 'do nothing'. For each mode, plugged in and battery. Still, the computer sleeps after about 15 minutes of afk.
ah thats called display sleep not laptop sleep by default screen will go to sleep after 15 mins of idle but laptop is still on and then after another 30 mins it will power down into a mode called herbinate mode or w.e it's named again that puts whole laptop into idle so fans, gpu, cpu, hard disk becomes idle and sleeping untill you press keyboard/mouse button or power button so it wakes back up.

  • GE70 2PE Apache Pro with unstable ping in dota2

Hi, I've just recently bought a GE70 2PE Apache Pro bout a month. Brand new laptop with only steam and dota2 install. Having this anoying problem with the unstable ping and spike in dota2. The ping goes from 80ms to 400ms + in seconds and comes back down to 90 again. This lag happens every 15 to 20 seconds. Warrantty changed a new wifi-card but still this problem wasnt fixed at all. Game seems to be fine with lan cable on. Wifi router connection stable and fine.
Any suggestions or what is causing this problem?

I am currently running with the setting like Tobi said since i get my computer which is a week ago. But it does not help  or solve the issue. In Malaysia, I do not know whether the router(you mentioned) in our market or not. Between, I have run some ping test and sent over the results to MSI. Well, they will collect my laptop and take it back for some test. So, if they gave me a proper solution, I will inform here. Quote from: hch;111131
LAN does not related to the wireless connection, so there will be no influence even if the LAN can work properly.
The settings from Tobi should help improving the situation.
(I've seen many people from other forums talk about those settings fix their issue.)
Have you tried using a router which supports the 802.11n or 802.11ac?
Intel AC wireless adapter is quiet new to the market and according to your router information, both router only supports 802.11 b/g. It's possible that they have some compatibility issues with the ac adapter.
There are many people talking about the performance of the AC wireless adapter and apparently for now, its best performance can be presented when connecting to the ac router in 5GHz bandwidth.
Another thing you might want to have a look on:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/configure-metered-connections-in-windows-8/
Since you're using the 4G hotspot, make sure that you keep the metered connections OFF to prevent any restrict data usage.

  • Ge70 2pe apache pro change keyboard color

Hey I have the ge70 2pe apache pro.  How do i change the keyboard color?  It did not come with any cd or drivers.

Do you have pre-installed OS or you install the OS by yourself?
Install the SteelSeries Engine and by using Fn+1, 2, 3, 4, you can change different keyboard layer and set the keyboard's backlight color in the SteelSeries Engine control panel.
    WIN8.1

  • [Solved] ge70 2pe apache pro touchpad problem

hey, my msi ge70 2pe apache pro when connect with a mouse, its touchpad cannot function.. what's the problem??

Like IronHide said, it's a default setting which disable the thouch-pad while a external mouse is plugged in.
But you can change this setting in the mouse properties.
Right click on the touch-pad icon in the notification area> Properties of Touch-Pad>ELAN page>Un-click the "Disable when external USB pointing device plug in>Apply

  • BIOS update under RAID0 - MSI GE70 2PE Apacho Pro

    Hi
I've seen a BIOS update in this site:
    w ww.msi.com/support/nb/GE70-2PE-Apache-Pro.html#down-bios&Win8.1%2064
    Version     E1759IMS.526
I have an older version dated as May.
The last time I updated the BIOS I had to do a factory restore from recovery DVD's and lost all my data because the RAID0 setup disappeared (I have two 128 GB SSD HDD's set on a RAID0 array), no matter if I entered the BIOS and changed the thing back to RAID0, it wouldn't recognize any existing RAID0 setup.
    a) What steps do I have to follow to update the bios without any problems/recovery etc. from the UEFI bios upadte feature? (if it's possible?
    b) Why if I use Live Update 6, it won't show the BIOS update available?
    Thanks in advance, cheers.

    Hello guys,
    - Just use UEFI BIOS update to securely update your BIOS. It will check if you are using the right BIOS file, so that's why I'm saying "securely". Follow the instruction on the screen to choose the BIOS file and it will automatically update it. After the updating, do a power off/on cycle and it's done.
    - Updating BIOS won't destroy the RAID information.
    - Live Update 6 is the utility for MSI "MAINBOARD", not for MSI "LAPTOP".

  • Just bought the MSIGE70-2PE had some questions/concerns

I just bought the MSI GE70-2PE and i am curious  about a few things it seems to run very hot and i didn't know if this may or may not be a defective model... i mean its hitting when i play WoW  95+ C which i know is extremely hot and i have tried turning off turbo boost and lowering the battery to eco/power save and it still hits that. Also the wifi will randomly drop and i will have to turn it off and reboot to get it back.
I was wondering if fellow owners have had this issue or know of any fixes to keep it lower temp.
I understand its a gaming laptop but these temps seem too hot to where it could degrade the components over time also i am using a cooling pad and the laptop is not even a week old.
    Thanks so much
    Anthony

    *thanks for the quick response.
    my router is LINKSYS e900
and i have contacted MSI(USA) as well to see what they think of the issue.
I was just wondering if fellow owners may have run into this issue and on the cooling pad i do have one
Re-pasting cpu/gpu voids your warranty apperently but MSI do have premission in EU for owners of laptop to open it and do RAM upgrade or replace of broken RAM with new ones and so on but when it comes to repasting cpu/gpu would need you to send laptop to msi service so they can do it since that can apperently void the warranty if you do it yourself.

  • GE70-2PE disable intel GPU(unlocked BIOS?)

    Hello,
I'd like to ask for an unlocked BIOS for GE70 2PE-082XCZK, current BIOS: E1759IMS.52A
My goal is to disable the integrated intel GPU in BIOS as when I disable it via windows device management it seems to disable both GPU's and runs on some sort of phantom GPU(Aero off, games wont run, Afterburner shows GPU1 - (nothing) GPU2 - (nothing))
    Thanks in advance

    intel gpu can't be disabled
without it you can't see anything on the screen
