GE70 2PE Apache Pro overheating

Hello guys,
I recently bought an Apache Pro. It has some amazing hardware and looks very good, but it overheats fast. I was playing games like dead island, sniper elite v2 and saw my CPU temperature go up to 95 °C. I had the cooler booster turned on, elevated the laptop from my desk and had a fan blowing cool air beneath the laptop (sort of an improvised cooling pad).
My question: are these temperatures even normal? What's the point in having a beastly laptop when you have to play a game with lowest settings to avoid overheating? :s
greetings,
Somebassdude

if your fan is ok then you need to do few steps
1- go to the windows power management by clicking on battery icon
2- choose balaced power plan click on change plen
3-click on advanced power setting and popop window will open
4- from the list choose processor power management
5-select maximum processor state
6-change those values to 75% from 100% both on battery and plugged in
this limit your will processor max 75% so your processor will not overheat and you wont notice diffrence in gaming so only makes sure that your processor is cooler also when you want to play game before you start press the fan button make sure you pre cool the system
I got GE60 apache pro mate

  • GE70 2PE Apache Pro with unstable ping in dota2

Hi, I've just recently bought a GE70 2PE Apache Pro bout a month. Brand new laptop with only steam and dota2 install. Having this anoying problem with the unstable ping and spike in dota2. The ping goes from 80ms to 400ms + in seconds and comes back down to 90 again. This lag happens every 15 to 20 seconds. Warrantty changed a new wifi-card but still this problem wasnt fixed at all. Game seems to be fine with lan cable on. Wifi router connection stable and fine.
Any suggestions or what is causing this problem?

I am currently running with the setting like Tobi said since i get my computer which is a week ago. But it does not help  or solve the issue. In Malaysia, I do not know whether the router(you mentioned) in our market or not. Between, I have run some ping test and sent over the results to MSI. Well, they will collect my laptop and take it back for some test. So, if they gave me a proper solution, I will inform here. Quote from: hch;111131
LAN does not related to the wireless connection, so there will be no influence even if the LAN can work properly.
The settings from Tobi should help improving the situation.
(I've seen many people from other forums talk about those settings fix their issue.)
Have you tried using a router which supports the 802.11n or 802.11ac?
Intel AC wireless adapter is quiet new to the market and according to your router information, both router only supports 802.11 b/g. It's possible that they have some compatibility issues with the ac adapter.
There are many people talking about the performance of the AC wireless adapter and apparently for now, its best performance can be presented when connecting to the ac router in 5GHz bandwidth.
Another thing you might want to have a look on:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/configure-metered-connections-in-windows-8/
Since you're using the 4G hotspot, make sure that you keep the metered connections OFF to prevent any restrict data usage.

  • Ge70 2pe apache pro change keyboard color

Hey I have the ge70 2pe apache pro.  How do i change the keyboard color?  It did not come with any cd or drivers.

Do you have pre-installed OS or you install the OS by yourself?
Install the SteelSeries Engine and by using Fn+1, 2, 3, 4, you can change different keyboard layer and set the keyboard's backlight color in the SteelSeries Engine control panel.

  • [Solved] ge70 2pe apache pro touchpad problem

hey, my msi ge70 2pe apache pro when connect with a mouse, its touchpad cannot function.. what's the problem??

Like IronHide said, it's a default setting which disable the thouch-pad while a external mouse is plugged in.
But you can change this setting in the mouse properties.
Right click on the touch-pad icon in the notification area> Properties of Touch-Pad>ELAN page>Un-click the "Disable when external USB pointing device plug in>Apply

  • MSI GE70 2PE APACHE PRO WORKS AWFUL

I recently bought this i also got a ge60 with a gtx660m and it actually works better than this. I get low fps and even stutter while i playing
i checked the the temps and they are 60(gpu) 95(cpu) just after 5 min for a decent game. I cant even play dota with really low graphical settings i take care of my computer really well i think(all driver are up to date, and i clean my pc with CCleaner and etc. ). I have nothing to do and i am really frustrated for this situation. Anyone with any ideas that would help ?
    Model : GE70 Apache Pro 2PE-406TR
     Intel® Core™ i7-4710HQ 2.5GHz
    Chipset : Intel HM86
     16 GB DDR3L 1600 MHz
    Ram: 16GB
    GeForce GTX 860M 2GB GDDR5
    128GB SSD + 1 TB HDD 7200rpm

I meant while cpu is 90-95 degrees, core speed sometimes decreases as 1/3 for a moment(that moment pc stutters) so this happens for a short moment but like 12-13 times in a minute. And because of that i couldn't capture the moment it stutters but i can give a normal capture from the moments cpu is 90-95 degree if that helps. thank you

  • GE70 2PE Apache Pro - Bluetooth not fully functional

Hi. I just bought the laptop mentioned in the subject line and I have not been able to get Bluetooth to work fully. Everything shows up normally and correctly in the Device Manager and the System Tray, but connecting to my iPhone sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. When it does connect, I'm not able to stream music to the GE70's speakers nor place or accept calls via the laptop. I'm able to do all of these things with the same iPhone (5, iOS v7.1.2) with 2 of my other computers without any problems.
I have the latest Bluetooth drivers MSI makes available, the latest BIOS, and all of the latest Windows updates as of 9/7/2014. I'm running Windows 8.1 64-bit. I've tried the latest Intel drivers (the GE70 is using the Intel AC 3160) and it didn't help. I've reverted back to the latest MSI drivers/software.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Tech help needed! ge70 2pe apache pro, wi-fi disabled.

    Hi All.
So there I was bumbling along on my month old msi and suddenly the wi-fi turns off. Now, everytime I try to turn it back on I get the dpc watchdog violation and a restart. I have tried doing it the normal way, through the service manager and by troubleshooting and applying the fix to turn it on. Every time is hangs for 15 seconds and blue screens on me. Running windows 8.1 and this is the first issue I have had and it's quite a major one for a gaming machine!!
Anybody have the slightest clue? I updated wi-fi drivers and lan drivers to no avail.
Does anybpdy know where I can find the latest firmware for my ssd also?
    Thanks in advance
    Y

A DPC WatchDog Violation is most of the times related to a Firmware issue and in windows 8 or 8.1 it is mostly related to A SSD. In your case it is probably both.
If your laptop came with an SSD(i do not know each laptop model spec) then I recommend you do a factory reset by using the DVD's you burned or by pressing F3 when booting up. A fresh installation should resolve the issue, if not then you have an hardware issue. In that case, I suggest sending the Laptop in for repair.
If the laptop came without an SSD and you actually purchased your own SSD for it, then You need to update the firmware of the SSD by going to the manufacturers website as well as Reinstalling windows using the DVD's you created. If this does not solve the issue, then you need to test the laptop with the standard HDD it came with(including a fresh installation), if the issue is not resolved then either, Just like the above option, you need to send the laptop in for repair.

  • My computer temperatures.. are normal? Ge70 2pe Apache pro

Well, on my room the temperature is around 25-26 degrees, around 70% humidity.
When I start the pc , it is around 36. But, after 2-3 minutes. Without do anything, it´s always on 44 (cpu)
Is that normal? >< the computer have only 1 month so it´s practically new!
also.. playing any kind of game.. the laptop goes to 88 degrees. With almost all the games , and the gpu to 89 , but when I change to "office" mode, where the cpu works only at 1,35 GHZ then the temperature is lower.. but, the games are almost impossible to play >A<
Well , I played a lot with the computer in the last month.. with high temperatures. I hope that I didn´t break the laptop ><
Oh , last question. If the laptop stop working for the temperatures , i mean, if I break the gpu just for play . MSi guarantee will give me a new computer?
SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH . I KNOW I AM BAD AT IT PLEASE DONT BE RUDE

Quote from: runningman on 15-June-15, 13:01:24
Hi, the temperature behavior is normal.
90 degree is normal under gaming.
As for Office mode, it will limit CPU frequency to save more power, so that is also normal.
And if you don't disassemble the case and use the laptop with normal behavior, I think MSI would provide the free repair within your warranty period.
    wow thanks , i was worried with it , so 90 degrees... are normal. yay, I can play again on ultra! XD . I was playing everything on the lowest settings 1600x900 and "office" mode just to dont be over 70 ^^;

  • The keyboard on my GE70 2PE Apache Pro is not working.

The other night I was watching a movie on battery power. I started to shut down unused programs in the notification window. I exited the steelseries program, hoping it would shut off the keyboard lights. Now when I open the steelseries program, it says I don't have a connected device. Any ideas? Thank you.

nevermind. I am a dumba**. got it worked out. thank you anyway.

  • HELP! GE70 2PE APache Pro won't turn on!!! [FIXED]

Just tried to turn the thing on and it fails! I've had it less than a year. If I unplug the AC power, take out that battery, put the battery back in and plug it back into AC power and then press the on/off button it powers up, shows the MSI logo and then it abruptly shuts off. I can't even get into the BIOS. Thank god I have another PC or I couldn't even post here to ask for help.
    HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

Well, I left it powered off and plugged into AC for a few hours and when I tried to boot it, this time it went into "Automatic Repair" mode, which seems to have worked because now it will boot to the desktop.
Still have no idea why it wouldn't start before, I'm just happy it works now. Now of you'll excuse me I need to go get my external hard drive and make backup everything that wasn't already backed up.

It does this every few seconds and it just worries me a lil. Just hoping it's nothing serious. I haven't noticed anything wrong software wise but, could it be telling me something is wrong internally hardware wise?

Do you have MSI Afterburner, GPU-Z, AIDA64, or any other programs that MIGHT check the GPU's on your notebook? If so, close them. See if it continues happening.
You can also enable the "Display GPU Activity Icon in the Notification Panel" in your NVidia control panels -> Desktop -> Add a checkmark next to "Display GPU Activity Icon in the Notification Panel"
This will add a small box down in your notification panel (by your clock) and you can mouse over it to find out what program is causing your GPU to get enabled. This can help debug the problem as well.

  • Ge70 2PE Apache Pro

My son has recently bought this great gaming machine, however he now says there is an issue with the fps, cannot get above 60. Not sure if the settings have been altered or drivers.
Could someone kindly point me in the right direction as to how to solve this.
Also is there a way to automatically update the various drivers.
    Any help much appreciated

This is a bit too vague.
What games? Has he tried lowering the graphics settings in those games? Has he tried changing the settings within the NVidia drivers?
Those are the first steps I would look into seeing if that is the issue.
You might always want to see if VSYNC is enabled, and if it is, disable it and see if that improves the FPS above 60.
I doubt it is a 'driver problem', and is most likely more a changed setting that he didn't understand.
There is NO way to automatically update the drivers on the laptop. DO NOT USE MSI LIVE UPDATE, IT IS NOT FOR LAPTOPS AND COULD POTENTIALLY HARM THE LAPTOP.  (Just a warning, as many users try to use it and end up with many more problems....even though it says it is NOT for laptops).
