Gear reappears, freezes, then another appears over it.

I reset my macbook (2008 alum) last night and when it came back on, the spinning gear came up as normal. This thing is slow, so I am use to a slow boot up time. 2 min later, the gear disappeared as normal just before the login screen would appear, but instead, the gear came back. 10 seconds after that, it froze. 5 seconds after that, another appears over it, spinning. The froze one is still in the background. I left it on for an hour, thinking it might just be repairing or trying to download an update. It won't go any further than this. I have hard reset it several times, tryed to boot into recovery, safe mode, reset the vpram, used fsck -fy and it said the first time that it was modded, the second time said it was fine, rebooted, and it did the same thing. The second spinning gear would appear and spin forever. The only one that had anything different is if I boot in recovery or safe mode the second gear wouldn't appear, just the grey screen of death and pain. Please help me. I do not have any backups, and I have a lot of memories I would really not like to lose.

You may have a hardware problem.
If you live near an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar appointment to have the computer tested. Supposedly there is no charge for testing.

In Windows XP, wireless Keyboard freezes, then repeats key over and over
When I'm working in Windows XP, my wireless apple aluminum keyboard will freeze for a brief second, then it will continue to repeat the last key I typed for while. I've searched through all the forums and cannot find a solution to this problem. Any ideas?
Finally figured it out. Just turn off the Mac and when you turn it on if you have a USB mouse just hold it down during the reboot and the Mac automatically boots into the Mac OS. Another way is to look on the bottom of the Windows XP screen. The is a Boot Camp icon that allows you to click and boot directly from Windows into the Mac OS. Both require a USB mouse which I fortunately had around the house.

when I tried to update to the new version of Itunes - message box appears "APSDAEMON.EXE MSVCR80.DLL is missing". Then another box indicates "Error 7 (Windows error 126)". Itunes will not start. Can someone tell me what the problem is and how to fix?

iCloud's Calendar is full of errors and problems for me. The "Couldn't move your calendars to iCloud because an error occurred" is now gone (by itself) but nothing syncs between my Mac's Calendar to iCloud or my iPhone to iCloud.
I tried creating a new event directly on iCloud.com to see whether it pushes to any of my device and got this "This event couldn't be created because of a server error; please try again." error.
Apple, please fix this!! -
Speedgrade - Rectangle appears over footage in Premiere after direct link
I am using Speedgrade via direct link from Premiere, with a timeline that consists of a video track with all of my clips, another track containing adjustment layers, and a top track containing a .PNG file of a black letterbox.
Problem: After applying primary and secondary color adjustments in Speedgrade (no masks) I return to Premiere. If I hide the top track which contains my .PNG letterbox, a mysterious RECTANGLE appears over my footage. This rectangle is even present in clips that haven't been graded yet.
I have included a picture to illustrate my point.
System Specs:
- Intel Mac OS 10.9.2
- NVIDIA Quadro4000 GPU
- Premiere 7.2.1
- Speedgrade 7.2
- Editing with .R3D files from Red Epic Camera**UPDATE
This problem may not be a result of speedgrade. Instead, I'm wondering if it's more of an issue within Premiere. I noticed that the rectangle is caused by my adjustment layer that is sitting directly above my main video track. As a test, I found several clips that were sitting below one adjustment layer. I applied a three-way color correction effect to the adjustment layer, and gave it a severe blue tint. One would expect the adjustment layer to effect the entire image on every underlying clip, but instead it only applied to a small rectangle within those clips. As I scrub through the timeline, the rectangle moves around and changes size. Then I realized that each clip had different amounts of scaling and positioning. So this mysterious rectangle seems to be caused by the scaling and positioning of the underlying clips. My adjustment layer is sized to the resolution of my 2K timeline. However, each clip is 5K, scaled to fit. So perhaps I need to make my adjustment layer the same exact size of my underlying clips?
As a test, I scaled my adjustment layer and noticed that if I increase the size by .01, the mysterious rectangle immediately jumps to fill the entire image. Weird.
Another weird thing to point out, referencing my original post: The image of the girl has NO color correction applied to it, and the same goes for the adjustment layer above it. However, there is still a rectangle present. This clip has a small amount of rotation applied, and the rectangle is also rotated, leading me to believe the problem is because of a scaling difference between the adjustment layer and clip. But still, WHY would there be a rectangle there when there is no color correction applied??? -
I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on Windows 8.1 with an AMD quad core processor and AMD E1-2100 APU with AMD Radeon HD 8210 Graphics Card. I have installed the latest driver version 13.152.0.0. When I activate puppet warp, the mesh appears over the image and I can place the first pin. However, when I go to add the second pin, Photoshop crashes. I have tried with on a new, blank file, with just a few lines on it, but, as soon as I place the first pin, the image disappears, and then, as soon as I click anywhere else in the image, Photoshop crashes. I have followed all the online advice about settings under the Preferences/Performance interface, but nothing fixes the problem. Can anyone please help?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) When I watch any video on youtube, every video first starts with short freezes then freezes the Firefox 7.1 Browser window. I have to right click on the icon that shows the browser is open on the taskbar at the bottom of windows and then click on close& cancel to get it to start working again. Also, on any site, I am having problems with links & functions that suddenly stop working, site connections being dropped frequently for no reason, my Modem is stable & internet shows connected. On facebook when I click a button(photos) it doesn't work, in Amazon I click on "submit" and the button stops functioning, in yahoo mail I can click on a button to "send" mail and it won't work. I can open them in IE9 or Chrome but not in Firefox. I have tried disabling all plugins.I also have tried disabling all but flash and still the problems persist. I have uninstalled and reinstalled FF.
Command + R *should* take it to a recovery console. Command + Option + P + R resets the PRAM, but that doesn't sound like your fix.If all of your buttons are working fine on OSX side, I would ignore PRAM / NVRAM / SMC reset tricks, since these are tested as working fine.
I would say you should probably reinstall the drivers for bootcamp. I tried this with 5 in Windows 8 and it gives you an option to repair. The reason I say this is because the UI isn't showing up, which means that it's using another driver.
If this doesn't work, go into device manager and then roll back to your previous settings.
One more thing comes to mind. Do you ever use Parallels or VMWare to load your bootcamp partition? They have their own driver packages which can cause some unwanted behavior when using windows natively.
One last thing you can do is try to by-pass the GUI powerplan entirely. You can use the Powercfg command, which, as it happens, has instructions on how to forcefully set the brightness values. You probably won't be able to make it through these instructions since you will get an error at some point, but that will give us more diagnostic information.

If you found Safari in the Trash it was probably the Safari.app itself. Icons on the Dock do not go into Trash. They drag off and "Poof".
That means that the app, itself is on your Desktop. Choose it and Get Info (command-i). Does it say, "Safari.app"? Drag it back into /Applications folder. Then drag your icon off the Dock and create a new one by dragging Safari.app to the Dock. It will create an alias which is all the Dock icons are.
The question mark means an alias has lost the path to the application. Have your other users drag it off the Dock and drag it from the applications folder to create a new alias on the Dock. -
Red light appears over my iphone speaker when charging.
i accidentally washed my phone. So i decided to do the rice treatment.and now when i put it on the charger a red light appears over my speaker. Also when i try to hard reset my phone the red light just flashes.Then after a while the light just goes away.
That's the proximity sensor. It's not supposed to do that.
Make an appointment at the genius bar and get the phone replaced. it's no longer safe to use it. -

Anyways, here's my exact query from another forum pasted (it's a lot of info to retype):
I haven't used LR 5.3 since December, and between then and now I reformatted my computer and reinstalled my basic program set. I haven't added any new programs, and if anything my current set-up should be the same as it was in December minus extra temp file bloat and a few extraneous programs.
Fast forward to today (after taking some new photos). I open up LR, and try to import but the program hangs and eventually crashes. The exact issue can be seen in this youtube video:

Thinking it was a bad installation, I proceeded to remove LR, and reinstall it. No dice.
Thinking it was a driver/program conflict issue, I booted into Safe Mode and tried to import. No dice.
I'm all out of ideas. It looks like the issue is fairly common (judging by the number of new help threads on the Adobe Community Forums. Does anyone have any experience, or better yet, any fixes for this particular issue?
In case anyone asks, my general computer set-up is below:
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
LR 5.3
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
8GB Ram
128GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD
1TB WD Green HD (where photos and catalog live)

Try a system reset. It's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc. -
There is a bright flashing light over my tool bar and sometimes a flashing black box appears over the Yahoo news. I tried Reset Firefox and that didn't work. I then uninstalled and re-installed Firefox and I still have the seizure inducing flashing lights.
When I switch to Internet Explorer I do NOT have this problem. Please help me because I do not want to go back to IE.
ThanksIn case this is caused by Firefox 33 being incompatible with your graphics card/chipset driver software, could you test for a while in Firefox's Safe Mode? You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

You can disable hardware acceleration for all modes in the Options dialog.
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
This takes effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again. -

just regular FireWire cable (6-6 pin) - when you use target mode, computer acts as if it was external hard drive and supposed to show up on another Mac's desktop as a drive - you could use Disk Utility on another Mac and format the PowerBoook.
if there is some hardware problem though, sometimes target mode won't work.
also, maybe try some other OS disc just in case your OS CD is defective somehow.
