Geforce 210 + windows 8.1 = death ?

Estimate HP team:
Im facing a very rare problem with my video card
My computer is this:
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03517270
windows 8.1
and my video card is this:
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3913#sp
( now there is not one drive installed from NVIDIA )
is not the first time I‘ve installing this video card, now the difference is I reset the pc as fabric conditions.
The last time the problem was update the driver; but now the pc  don’t want to even start when I install the video card.
Is not totally death, I can see the lights, all the sounds BUT DON’T SHOW ANYTHING ON SCREEN.
If I unplug the video card all pc start normally without any problem.
I know is a very problematic video card but has been working normal until I reset the pc
This video card has been installed from +/- February 2013
Hope for any help
Kind Regards

Hi:
You need to disable secure boot and enable legacy mode when you install a video card on a PC that originally came with W8.
If you reset the BIOS to its defaults, it has renabled secure boot and disabled legacy mode.

  • Problems with Nvidia GeForce 210 and windows 8.1

Hi all, I have Windows 8.1 Pro update 1 64bit installed, two weeks ago I started giving problems graphics card NVidia (even has me
    given several blue screen).
I tried to update the drivers for the card but I got the same problem. It was working properly with generic
drivers, and if I went to Computer Administrator me a yellow triangle appeared
on my graphics card and the properties told me the following:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.
    (Code 43 )
    My machine is as follows:
    Mainboard : Asus P5K SE
    Chipset: Intel P31/P35
    Processor : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2400MHz
    Physical Memory : 3072MB (3 x 1024 DDR2- SDRAM)
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
    Hard Disk : Seagate ST3320620AS ATA Device (320GB )
    Monitor Type: LG Electronics L1919S
    I just formatted
     the computer from scratch, and
I still had the same problem with the graphics card,
so I imagined it would be a hardware problem
    and bought NVIDIA GeForce 210.
    In the end I
upgraded to Windows 8.1 update 1 with
the latest drivers for the GeForce 210,
and after 6 days running everything correctly, a few days ago
    returned to give me problems,
the screen sometimes freezes and will not
let me do anything and after a while
giving me a blue screen and reboots
me, I suspect that the graphics drivers
are giving me problems, and I had to
disable the graphics card and work with
generic drivers from Microsoft, and even then I
    was restarted once.
I installed Driver Booster and all the drivers are updated.
    Could
     anyone analyze
dump files dmp ? Download here
    I got another dmp:
C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP  but it is too heavy.
    Thanks

yes, I check the dump files
this cause by graphic card, on which graphic card you reformat your PC and update
.NET framework maybe cause this driver corrupted
my suggestion is try using internal graphic card, just for testing
Just in case you don't believe me, please check this dump file

  • [SOLVED] Xorg freeze with nvidia GeForce 210 when resizing terminal

    Hello,
I am working on Archlinux. My computer freeze when I resize a terminal window.
To reproduce the problem, I follow the below steps :
1- launch openbox (with tint2, xcompmgr and nitrogen)
2- start the "terminal" console emulator (with true transparent background)
3- launch opera and go to a website which take a while to load (with a lot of data) (I used http://www.lemonde.fr)
4- while the website is loading, switch to the terminal window and double click on the title bar to maximize it
         5- the box freeze
I am not able to take the control back. I cannot exit or kill Xorg / Openbox. I cannot switch to a text terminal (ttyx). No key sequence is working.
Only a hard reset of the box is working.
I have tried to disable the transparent background of the terminal window without success.
I have tried to not start xcompmgr without success.
The problem also occurs with rxvt-unicode instead of terminal.
It seems the problem happens more often when using console emulator based on vte.
vte itself has the same issue.
The only workaround I have found is to disable the harware acceleration with the below parameter in the xorg.conf file:
    Option    "RenderAccel"    "true"
The problem with this workaround are poor graphical performances.
Could you please let me know if you have any idea / clue to identify / fix this problem ?
    Thanks and regards

    Hi jasonwryan,
Your thread helps a lot. I saw a lot of posts but not this one.
This workaround is fine for me to wait the fix.
    Thanks a lot
    Workaround :
It seems the problem might be linked to transparent items like background.
As explained in the above thread :
According to the bug report the nVidia driver is freaking out and creating too many events, which causes an event buffer in Xorg to overflow.  It works OK with the older Xorg, though.
So the temporary solution is to downgrade 3 packages.
    Install the tool to downgrade
    > yaourt -Sy downgrade
    Downgrade
Note the item number can change
    > downgrade xf86-input-evdev
    Hit "s" key
    Choose 2 (xf86-input-evdev-2.6.0-2-i686.pkg.tar.xz)
    > downgrade xorg-server
    Hit "s" key
    Choose 1 (xorg-server-1.9.4.901-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz)
    > downgrade xorg-server-common
    Hit "s" key
    Choose 1 (xorg-server-common-1.9.4.901-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz)
Be carefull : don't update these 3 packages when updating your system (pacman -Syu) since it is not fixed.

  • No sound after installing geforce 210 video card in hp pavilion a1430n

I've seen the advice about changing bios sound device setting from auto to enabled, but there is no sound device choice in the bios of this model.
Control panel>sounds shows "no audio device installed"
I installed this new geforce 210 video card (in addition to existing GeForce 6200) in order to support 3 monitors. I previously had a Geforce 5200 FX installed for this purpose, but it died. The new 210 has HDMI output. Some of the responses in this forum credit this as part of the problem.
I only need audio out of the headphones on the computer - not using any external audio like speakers, monitors, etc.
IN device manager, under sound, video and game controllers there is a long list
    Audio Codecs
    Legacy Audio Drivers
    Legacy Video Capture devices
    Media control devices
4 entries of NVIDIA High Definition Audio - which all seem identical looking at properties
    Video Codecs
    All show working properly
Any help or advice greatly appreciated

    Hi,
Installing a new video card can disable the on-board sound chip so check the following.
Shut down the PC. Tap away at f10 as soon as you press the power button to access the Bios Menu - the option you want is most likely under the Advanced Tab.  Look for an entry titiled 'Onboard Audio'.  If it shows as Disabled, navigate to it using the arrow keys, hit enter, use the arrow keys to select 'Enabled' and hit enter again.  Press f10, select 'Yes' or 'Ok' and hit enter to save the change.

  • Problems with Geforce 210 on Thinkcentre M58

    Hi all,
as part of the upgrade process of my Thinkcentre M58-7360 I bought a Geforce 210 based video card:
    http://www.zotac.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_images-SRW.tpl-VGA&product_...
At the boot the system emits two "beeps" and then Windows seems to normally load.
I said "seems" because during the whole boot there is no video signal and the monitor stays black.
I have also played a bit with BIOS settings (explicitely set the PCI express card as primary video adaptor) but no change.
Last, if I remove the card everything works fine again.
How can I troubleshoot the issue?
P.S.: I preferred an Nvidia over AMD solution hoping that it would have worked out of the box, but unfortunaltely it's not the case.

I should test your way for using remote desktop but on my PC (8381-CTO) the screen keep staying black *after* I've installed the driver. The problem seems to come from audio drivers. I have to  (and I had to) upgrade about one undred PC and in some PC I've  not experienced any problem while on other PCs the only way to stop  troubles is to remove the graphics card (zotac geforce 210).
    Any suggestion?

  • Windows screen of death when installing iTunes 8

I'm an XP user and have been using iTunes happily for some time. However, I encountered a problem in installing 8. Initially, I had the invalid F: error, but when I plugged in my external drive the message disappeared and the install began normally. Then I suddenly got the Windows screen of death and everything locked up. I re-booted and tried again; I removed the earlier version of iTunes; I went through regedit and failed to find any reference to an F: drive in shell folders (indicated in a previous thread) and am at a loss what to do. Can anyone help?

Use XP Installation disk with SP2 or SP3 included to fix the BSOD.
Simple your XP installation disk is outdated and cause troubles with latest hardware.

  • MSI GeForce 210 not post in Sapphire A9RX480 mobo?!

This is a bit nuts. The MSI card is GeForce 210-MD512H:
    http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N210-MD512H.html#?div=Specification%22
...witch is basicaly fanless budget MSI GeForce 210 with 589/1024MHz clocks and 512MB DDR2 ram. All in all a budget card to do the work required and that it is. I never expect playing Crysis on it... maybe SoF2... lol!
However I wanted to use it in my Sapphire "Grouper" A9RX480 mobo (that is ATI chipset RX480-450 for SB) and it refuse to post. When I plug there my old good PNY GeForce 7800, then (even w/o the external power cable connected - DOS only, true) everything seems working out nicely!
Now that is a bit insane. Any suggested bios settings to make the card work? The mobo is fine, memtest passed all tests and never had a problem with it...
Yes, it is claimed to be 16x PCIEx speed... shall I try 8x? Or what should I do? The card is also tested in another computer and it is working nicely there...!

Oooops, I'm sorry. When way more powerfull and way more PSU demanding 7800 GTX works fine, then I never even mind that any other information is necessary, but whatever. Here we go:
    Board: Sapphire A9RX480 "Grouper"
Bios: oldest and even latest official version available tried, even moded version: http://ax2.old-cans.com/grouper - still same problem!
    VGA: MSI GeForce 210-MD512H ( http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N210-MD512H.html#?div=Specification )
    PSU: Enermax 620W Liberty
    CPU: Opteron 148
    MEM: Mushkin Enhanced DDR400 PC3200 (can do 2-2-2-5 :D - memtest fine)
    HDD: none
    COOLER: Zalman CNPS 9500 Led
    OC: none
    OS: none
It is just a mainboard, PSU and floppy sitting on chair near monitor (Eizo F35 Flexscan) for testing... Nothing else.
Tried 8x settings in the PCIE Bus Width, no difference :(
Some BIOS settings are really interesting - how about these?
    LTD Configuration - Enabled
Upstream LTD Bus Width - 16bit
Downstream LTD Bus Width - 16bit
    LTD Bus Frequency - Auto (1GHz, 800MHz, 600MHz, 400MHz, 200MHz)
(I know, this have more to do with the CPU memory controler that GFX card, but who knows?)
    PCIE GFX Core Payload Size - 64Bytes (32Bytes, 16Bytes)
    PCIE GPP Core Payload Size - 64Bytes (32Bytes, 16Bytes)
NB-SB Port Configuration - Default (Enhanced)
    PCI-E GFX Link Width - x16 (x12, x8, x4, x2, x1)
Assign IRQ For VGA - Enabled (Disabled)
...any suggestions? Tried 32Bytes (for the PCIE GFX Core Payload Size|PCIE GPP Core Payload Size settings), but no change. Eg. NO POST with this MSI card...
Additional info about the card: it is MSI GeForce 210-MD512H, on the PCB is near the heatsink and PCIE connector:
"V201" "VER: 1.1" and "Product of China" and near the "no trash" symbol is "D33008"
From the bottom side, there is a big letters "N1996" after a "Nike" checkmark and at the end of the PCB, some probably manufacture info:
    APCB M3 94V-0
    RU 0942 E230435
    E129N4774BB
Bought the card from friend, who replaced it with faster one. Tried with another computer, where it worked just fine (IIRC Gigabyte mainboard, but not sure about it) ...
Is there any bios fix for this card that help me out?

  • Geforce 210

I have a MSI geforce 210 that i recently installed and it keeps overheating and shutting down my system. The fan is running and the case cover is off and it still overheats. Any suggestions?
    Thank
    Andy

I've got 2 of those cards. The one that comes with a dinky little toy fan doesn't overheat as long as you don't run intensive graphics. If you do, it cooks and I haven't figured out how to give it additional cooling yet.
The 'Silent' version comes with a massive heat sink but no fan which is worthless as it is upside down and apparently the manufacturers haven't figured out the old conduction, convection and radiant heat rules yet. The old devil called heat rises, going right back into the GPU and only a little radiant heat getting carried away from things. Anyway, if that is the card you have, grab some zip ties and strap and hefty little CPU fan to the heat sink, eating 2 more card slots in the process. It will run very cool and happy.

  • [SOLVED] Driver for Nvidia Geforce 210

Hi guys. I'm having some trouble searching the proper video driver for my system. I need the nvidia driver for my Geforce 210.
The wiki says: "For GeForce 2/3/4 MX/Ti series cards [NV11 and NV17-NV28], install nvidia-96xx package, available in the AUR. " , but is there any way to avoid using AUR?
I've tried downloading the propretary driver from Nvidia' site and couldn't install it. So i'm thinking about the open drivers: is Nouveau a good choice in your opinion?
    Thanks for reading!

run the following command & post the output here:

if you REALLY do mean Geforce 210 you should see something like this (as I have a Geforce 210)

    Hi @ned-m
I regret that the link did not resolve your difficulty.
What was the results when you tried resetting the updater per the document in the link?
Did you run  MS Fix It, if so what was the result.
Here is a link to  Troubleshoot problems with installing updates .  If none of the above has helped, I would try doing a Windows repair.
I would try a Windows repair or reinstall your Windows.  Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7)

  • Drivers for NVIDIA Geforce 320m (Windows 7).

I've got my new MBP 13", but i don't have a cd with the bootcamp drivers for the video card, because I've lost my recovery DVD. So i'm seeking help with that. I wonder where can i get these drivers, because NVIDIA ones, even beta, not supporting this chip yet. Maybe i can get a recovery dvd iso or dmg somehow. I've got bootcamp 3.0 and 3.1 update installed on my windows machine, but still no luck, because the 3.1 version is dated mid january and my MBP is mid 2010.

Somewhat related, my 13" MacBook Pro with BootCamped XP freezes when I open up BootCamp from the control panel and move the brightness slider/window around. To fix this, I'm trying to install the newest NVidia drivers.
With a NVIDIA GeForce 320M display card installed, trying to install the newest NVidia drivers on XP, I continuously get an error say "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."
One way to solve this, as suggested by someone on another forum, was to install the drivers manually, and at the 99%~100% during installation, when it shows the error message "Your installation cannot continue, will revert back to your old display drivers when you click OK" at which point I don't press OK, but immediately hold the power button down for 5 seconds, after I re-boot, my new drivers work fine.
    Except,
I can't control brightness from the control panel's bootcamp slider, nor keyboard shortcuts, it's continuously 100% brightness.
I've been working on this problem for 2 days, and I can't yet properly install the new NVidia drivers into XP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Tap away at f10 as you start the PC to enter the bios menu.  Check if Onboard Sound has been disabled here as this can happen when installing a new graphics card - if it is disabled, use the arrow keys to select Onboard Audio, hit enter, use the arrow keys to select Enabled, hit enter, press f10 to save the change, use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

  • K 210 windows 7

Do I need to update drivers and anything else
I now have window 7 as my op system

I know your solution! This happened to me. Look on your keypad. (mouse) In the top lefthand corner there should be a little circle. If it's glowing (I think orange) it is locked. Press the dot gently with your hand (it may take a few tries) and it should stop glowing. Now your computer should be as good as new!
    Hope I helped,
