Geforce 4 Ti4200

Hello,
I have Geforce 2 MX/MX400 installed in PCI slot 1. Can i remove it and install this Geforce 4 Ti4200 on it's place in PCI slot 1? I have one AGP slot here as well, but i've never used it, this is the first time i'm changing a display adapter, so forgive for being stupid, but where should i install this Geforce 4 Ti4200? On the PCI slot where my Geforce 2 MX/MX400 used to be or in the AGP slot? Thank you.

first u must uninstall the geforce 2 driver then torn computer off make sure your earthed and take the card out now incert the card into your agp slot and boot the pc. Then install the driver.
Honestly i would buy the radeon 9600xt as it is more powerful and cheaper. It also surports all the new games

  • MSI Geforce Ti4200 bios woes

HI, since i flashed my video card bios, I have developed a couple of problems and want to flash it back to a previos bios (i used the tool to do it so not sure which i now have), however I cannot find a VGA bios archive anywhere on MSI sites or others. Can anyone help point me to them please, and the manual flashing tool.
Problems are...... corrupted display when resuming from sleep, and the startup screens are way too wide until i get into windows, not a problem until i try and get into bios and cant see the writing on the left/right as its cut off.yes i know i can adjust monitor but i shouldnt have to.
    Thanks.

  • Kt333 ultra2 geforce ti4200 help me!

whenever i try and run 3d programs, both games and apps,  everything is fine for a while but then the computer freezes with a high piched buzz coming out the speakers. either this or the system reboots completly.
i have downloaded all the latest drivers for my geforce, but no change.
    i am running xp pro
    kt333 ultra2 board
    athlon 2100+
with a 300w power supply (is this enough?)
if someone could help, i would appreciate it very much!
this new system just cost me whole heap of cash!

You may also be experiencing a conflict between your sound card and the AGP slot.  If they are sharing the same IRQ, it can cause a lock up.  I have experienced basically the same kind of problem as you are describing.  I turned off all unused serial ports through the Device Manager.  At the moment I have PCI Slots 1 and 5 empty and set to Auto in the BIOS.  I switched from a serial mouse to a USB mouse to free IRQ 12 since the mouse was using it.  I set Slots 2 (NIC card) and Slot 4 (TV card) to IRQ 10.  The sound card (Slot 3) to Auto after trying to set it to IRQ 12.  The graphic froze on my during a game when I had the sound card IRQ set to 12.  I guess the Windows' IRQ manager did not like me getting to much control of the situation.  The graphics are all right now.  Good luck!

  • Software for geforce ti4200

Is there any good program with useable interface to check degreeses of the GPU, voltages etc. I have only spotted that ridiculous 3D!Turbo Experience (why MSI even does this kind of ?).

Think of optimizing a GeForce Mx card like Suping up a Yugo.  There is no point. With a car you go get another car, like a V8 Mustang. With GeForce get a good card like a GeForceFX 5700 Ultra.
    Take Care,
    Richard
P.S. The GeForceMx will not play any of the new games coming out, it just does not have the horsepower.

  • Minor problem with geforce ti4200 128 mb

Ok... The problem I get with this card is that, you know when you go to
display properties > advanced > Geforce > overlay controls
you get to change the brightness and stuff, when I do, it doesnt work. Now I tried this with my TNT2 card and it works fine so I don't think its any hardware issue... Anyways, help is appreciated thanks!
BTW, I am running in windows XP and have the latest detonator drivers and graphics drivers.

    Hi,
I have the same card and have used it with no problems whatsoever on an Asus A7N8X-Deluxe and an MSI K7N420, MSI K7N2G-ILSR and my current ABIT board without any problems with 3DTurDo or in any games. I have seen the  "nv4disp.dll" before on other systems sporadically but it was usually cured by a proper removal of the current nVidia drivers and installation of the latest drivers, however, I have not used the latest nVidia drivers for that card. I have stuck with later versions from 41.09 - 45.XX only. It is most likely a combination of drivers, improper configuration, driver istallation and removal, or possibly the game itself could be buggy. That's a tough one to pin down.
Give my post at the top of the VGA forum a read  "Alternative to MSI drivers with overclock settings too!"
Do yourself a favor and stay away from MSI's drivers, I have seen more problems with them as they make changes to install and uninstall routines that are questionable, not to mention they test them in such a way I also might find questionable as well. nVidia's site has an archive of past drivers and so does Driver Heaven.
If you decide to reformat again, I recommend installing service packs, then chipset drivers, then VGA drivers.
    Good luck

  • MSI Geforce 4 ti 4200 8x 128mb problems

I have recently purchased a 128mb 8x GeForce 4 ti 4200 video card, and i am having great dificulty geting it to work properly. Here are my computer specs:
Motherboard: Abit KA7-100 (latest bios update installed)
    CPU        : Athlon Slot A 800Mhz
    Ram        : Crucial 512mb PC133
OS         : Windows XP Pro / Windows 2000 Pro (latest updates installed)
    DirectX    : 9
    Harddrives : 1 Segate SATA 120 GB
                 1 Western Digital 8mb cache 120GB
1 Western Digital 27GB ata 66 (boot drive)
                 2 Western Digital 40GB ata 100 drives
Here is my problem: I can install the drivers for the card just fine, but whenever i try to play a movie (avi, mpeg), 3d game (or any game that uses the 3D part of the card, my computer freezes. I've installed several different versions of nvidia drivers for the card on my computer, but the outcome is always the same. The 2D usage of the card works just fine, but whenever a 3D program/game tries to use the video card, the computer locks up. I have noticed this effect when I bought a GeForce FX card as well. My previos Vid card was a Visiontek GeForce 3 TI 200 which runs very well no matter what I use it for (and after the abuse i put it through too...  XD ).  I have tried about 5 different drivers for the ti 4200, and have had the same problems.
I'm currently going to upgrade my motherboard/cpu/ram next week, but I'm dumbfounded on why these newer cards do not work at all on my motherboard. If you can help me this would mean a lot to me.
My current mobo only goes up to agp 4x, but i hardly think that would cause the vid card to freeze whenever i try playing any 3d game.
Can someone help meh?   :D   thnx.

    Hi,
It's been posted a couple of times but since I don't see any success stories yet; here's my problem. I hope you guys can help me out. I have tried to specify the system as much as posible but let me know when more information is needed.
When I play 3D games (and sometimes when I leave my PC without screensaver or 'doing' something) my system locksup after a short time (sometimes after 10 seconds other times a few minutes)and the whole PC locksup, I can't even use ctrl+alt+del to get out. My PC is brand new.
Important! The problem does NOT excist as soon as I install a different videocard, being a a Radeon 9200. However I would like to use my MSI card as it's performance is better.
    Videocard: MSI MS-Starforce GeForce Ti4200 with GP8x (NVIDIA Geforce4 Ti4200 with AGP8x), driver version NVDIA 4.1.0.7, PCI-bus 1.
Motherboard: Asus P4C800 deluxe, Intel 875P Chipser, FSB 800MHz, Dual DDR 400.
    CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2800
    RAM: 1024MB
    OS: Win XP Pro SP1
HD: Maxtor 6Y120M0 120 GB (3 partitions), driver (Microsoft) version 5.1.2535.0
    Soundcard: Blaster Audigy 2
Tried; updated & downgraded drivers for videocard, Scandisk, Defrag, installed all updates from Windows Update, updated drivers soundcard.

  • Strange visual problem with Geforce4 ti4200

I have a Geforce ti4200 128 MB 4X running on a MSI KT4V-L motherboard. the processor is AMD 2600+ and i use WIN XP.
I cant manage to fix a problem which is the following: there are these faded, black, flickering, horizontal lines that run up the background of the screen.
i updated the geforce drivers and the motherboard drivers but nothing changed. i tried underclocking using RivaTuner...nothing. What could be wrong? i really need the help, thanx!

    Maki,
it is one of two things. Either your Monitor died or your Vid Card overheated and damaged itself.
The only way you know is:
1)Try the monitor on another comp.
2)Try the vid card on another monitor.
    Take Care,
    Richard

  • Ti4200 x8 problem(only pci mode)

    hi,
    i have a msi 845e max motherboard and a msi geforce ti4200 with AGPx8.
my amy bios version is 5.70 and i use nvidia 41.09 drivers for the card.
when i go to display progerties and click on the settings tab and then "advanced" and then the "geforce4 ti 4200" tab, it says in the "bus type" :AGP(PCI mode).
why is the card in pci mode?
furthermore, in the display properties, in the msi information tab, it says bus type:AGP and in AGP information it says AGP revision no. 2.0 but it doesn't let me mark "AGP traffic enable" or mark any of the AGP speeds (1x,2x,4x,8x).
it lets me mark "sba enable" but i dont know what is it.
ive searched everywhere in the bios to change it but couldn't find nothing.
i knoe that i should have an "agp enable" option in the bios but it isnt there.
    can you help me?

  • Msi geforce ti4200vtd 64 (PCI MODE)???

    specs:
    athlon xp 1700+
    msi k7n420 pro mobo
msi geforce ti4200 vtd 64 video
    256 pc2100 ddr
Using either msi or nvidia drivers, I can't get this out of pci mode.  Both card and mobo support 4x agp mode, but it only runs in pci mode.  Using msi drivers, changing to agp seems possible, but any check in the white box just disappears.  My 3dmark 2001se scores are about half what they were on a cheaper mobo using a 1gig duron.  Yes, the cpu settings are fine and it's running at its normal speed of 1.47ghz.  Nothing is overclocked.

    jeez, you are quick....thanks
i had the msi drivers, and it wouldn't let me change to agp anything... I uninstalled them and went to the detonator drivers, and agp is disabled in the ti4200 properties under the agp settings,
I dont see a place to enable it, and the slide scale to choose rate (1x,2x,4x?) won't move either.

  • Problems with 3d!

Hi everyone! Recently I did some major modifications to my computer but I noticed that 3d games don't work anymore! Guild Wars doesn't work... Need For Speed gone... The games run for a couple of seconds then freeze. Even under some load the computer restarts for no reason! (Randomly) Now I did the smart thing and e-mailed MSI but they sent me the bios version 2.43 (Not 2.4) and I was wondering what the difference was between 2.4 and 2.43... (I have 2.3 installed)
Has anyone else had a problem like this? Here was my original system-
    Pentium 2.4C
    MSI 865PE Neo2 (2.3)
    Seagate 80gb SATA 7200RPM
    Geil Golden Dragon 512mb (6-3-3 cas2)
    Chaintech Geforce Ti4200 64mb
    PowMax PSU 350w
Recently to fix this problem I thought my processor was overheating... So I went out and bought me a new processor from newegg... Pentium 3.0E... Problem still exists... I also put some arctic silver 5 on the chipset core just to make sure it's icy cold...
So I did the smart thing and got a new video card... Aslyum Geforce FX5200 256mb... Problem still exists...
I have all the latest drivers and even tried the 56.72 nVidia drivers and the super latest ones... I have SP1 and the newest INF drivers... You name it... I got it... Anyone have any ideas what is going on?
I also called nVidia for help on this but all they did was run the direct X diagnostic (Which I passed) and found no real problems on their cards (Did a full driver clean before I switched back to 56.72)...
Now I'm stuck with a super fast computer that can't run anything :(
    New Specs
    Pentium 3.0E
    MSI 865PE Neo2 (2.3)
    Seagate 80gb SATA 7200RPM
    Geil Golden Dragon 512mb (6-3-3 cas2)
    Aslyum GeForce FX5200 256mb
    PowMax PSU 350w
Oh one more thing... Should I try installing the 2.43 bios? I can't do it via floppy or disk... I have to do it in windows (Which was successful for the 2.3)
    PowMax Stats
    Input : 100-127V-10A 50/60Hz
    200-240V-6A 50/60Hz
    Output : +5V / 30A Max. +12V / 25A Max.
    -12V /0.8A Max. +3.3V / 28A Max.
    -5V / 0.3A Max. +5Vsb / 2.0A Max.
Since this PSU has given me problems before... I plan to toss it and get me a more reliable one... Hell I'm starting to think the PSU is the cause of all these problems!

To flash from CD go to this thread. Download the zip file and burn the iso image on it to a cd. If you don't have software for burning ISO images there is a link in my signature to a free one.
Download the bios and flash program from the motherboard page and put in a directory on your hard drive.
Put the CD in the tray, reboot, and press the F11 key to select the cd drive to boot from. The cd drive becomes a:, c: is a ramdrive, and your c: drive shows up as d:, etc.
    Change to c: (the ramdrive)
Copy the flash program and bios image from d: (your 'real' c: drive)
    Flash away.
Alternatively, there is a link in my signature to booting from a USB stick.
Flashing from Windows is a crap shoot. Eventually you will lose.

  • Can't get to work the Audigy 2 0

    Hello,
I just bought an Audigy 2 sound card. It looks like Audigy 2 ZS, it has black PCB and gold connectors. I've got it without any drivers. I've got only a midi gameport. I read on PCB the version number 0240. I googled that it could be the the platinum version or an OEM version which were made for HP company.
My problem is that, I can't install any drivers! I download a lot of like: Youp Pax .02, 3,33, the newest 3.5, a many original creative drivers for audig2, audigy 2zs, the moded Audigy 2 ZS iso, the original Audigy 2 iso, etc . Also the OEM drivers for HP doesn't work. Every time I started the driver installation it saids that it can't find supported audio device.
I tried changing the PCI port and I turned off the on board AC97 sound card.
This card looks like its working, because Linux recognize it without any problem.
I installed the kPax drivers and they worked but I want to play games with EAX so I need Youp Pax
I searched all the Internet but I didn't any good method for me.
Do you have any suggestion what shall I do?
    Please help
    The id of card:
    PCI\VEN_02&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00002&REV_04\3&6A AA0&0&78
    My computer:
    AMD Athlon 200+ XP
    MB Asus A7V8X (Via chip)
    Geforce Ti4200
    52 Mb RAM
    Windows XP SP2
    ps.
Sorry for my English, I'm from Poland

    gen4,
SB0240 is an Audigy 2--none listed as OEM. Have you tried [url="http://files.filefront.com/ISO_SB_Audigy_2_series/;5005420;;/fileinfo.html">this iso[/url]? OTOH, what is the serial number of the card? The model number is embedded in it, and sometimes the last digit is different. For example, the SB0249 is HP OEM.

  • Dlink A520+ wireless doesn't work with Neo2-LS

Has anyone successfully managed to get one of these wireless PCI cards to work with the 865PE Neo2 and XP SP1? When I try to install it XP detects it fine and installs the drivers but then comes up with an error starting the card: "Code 10".
Nothing seems to help, I downloaded the latest drivers and moved it around around all the PCI slots to no avail. This is a working card, I removed it from my old Abit KT7. This is my system:
    MSI 865PE Neo2 LS
    3Ghz P4 @ 3.5Ghz (66/33 AGP PCI clocks)
    512Mb DDR500 dual channel
no PCI cards except the A520+
    Abit Siluro GeForce Ti4200
    Seagate 120Gb SATA
    Asus CDRW, Panasonic DVD
Please help if you can, I don't want to have to buy another wireless card!

Yes I'll try disabling everything I'm not using and see what happens. This MSI board is different to the old KT7 in that it's assigning individual IRQs to every device, albeit from a very large range thanks to the APIC.
The KT7 used to assign IRQ #11 to absolutely everything and not allow you to manually interfere. Scary at first but I have to admit that it did work flawlessly.
It seems to me that I always get the least trouble from the no-name generic manufacturers. Whenever I buy a "name" brand their "value-add" drivers turn out to be "value-subtract" inferior quality!

I previously asked about the problem with my graphics skipping frames, and you have made me think that the PSU is my problem. So i restated the info below. What do you recommend?
