Geforce 5200  or Geforce 5200 ultra ?????

Is this graphics card supported or not or is apple just messing with my head...
and is their a difference ultra or not ..

Aperture 1.5 on my Rev A iMac 20" G5 reports my video card (GeForce 5200) as NOT compatible after I installed the upgrade. How I got to this point you will need to review the other recent postings for the instructions.

  • MSI's Geforce FX 5200-T128 = FX 5200 Ultra !!

I recently bought an MSI Geforce FX 5200-T128 and decided to OC it and replace the stock heatsink to help the OC'ing a bit. It comes with a heatsink only and no fan. I got this cooler from an old Macintosh machine that could fit perfectly into the GPU. When I open the stock heatsink on the card I was surprised that on the GPU there is "FX 5200 Ultra" written on it. Is it really the ultra version ? If it is, then how come the Detonator (Both MSI's and Nvidia's) recognise it as a Geforce 5200 series only...not ultra ?? I read in the net that sometimes you can make an ordinary card and turn into the ultra ver. by changing the BIOS ! Can someone explain to me about this ? Am I really having the Ultra ver. GPU ??? Can I alter the BIOS so it works like an ultra ver ?? THX ppl......

    hi,
    i have the same card with you.  o/c'd it to its limits [290GPU/464DDR] normally it had to reach 320GPU and 500DDR but the ram on card 5ns soo highest is 464Mhz[i am sorry]. you can o/c it to 320GPU-480DDR but at these speeds;
in 3dmark 2003 wings of furry test it passes some frames like slow cards and 2001SE it crushes on looping 3-4 tests...
when i relased that it is working but graphics are little choppy you can see...
290GPU&464DDR is the best stable solution i could able to find .. i o/c'd it with riva tuner and 3D turbo express .....both gives the same result...

  • Can I update bootcamp video driver (nvidia geforce 9400M to       GeForce 332.21 Driver)?

Can I update bootcamp video driver (nvidia geforce 9400M to GeForce 332.21 Driver)? http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en
If yes, if I installed it will this also affect the video card of osx?
btw, I have macbook late 2008 aluminum unibody running OSX mavericks & a windows 7 ultimate on bootcamp..
    TIA!!!

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use BootCamp. There's a BootCamp Support Community where everybody uses BootCamp. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • GeForce 8800 with GeForce 7300

I'm looking for some advice... I am planning on purchasing a 30in LCD (Samsung 305T) and I'm wondering if I should upgrade my current GPU (GeForce 7300) to the GeForce 8800. Or if the 7300 is capable of driving the 30in monitor.
My next question is whether or not I can re-utilize my existing GeForce 7300 GPU's with the 8800. If the 8800 is that much better than the 7300 I would like install the 8800 and connect the new 30in monitor to it. Then connect my existing 2 x 24" LCD's to the 7300 GPU's (one each, I have 2 x 7300).
    Will this be possible?
Most of my time on the system is spend using standard desktop application like MS Office (70%). The rest of the time I spend in Aperture and Final Cut.
    Thanks in advance...

I don't see the 7300GT on Apple Store, but Nvidia specifies:
Dual-link DVI capability to drive the industry's largest and highest resolution digital flat panel displays up to 2560x16001
So if you plan on only using a single 30", you are fine, but if you feel you need an upgrade graphics, the Radeon 2600XT would be my first choice actually. People are generally happy as a replacement for 7300 or even x1900. The first revisions had a noisy fan, but so too would the 8800GT. Two dual link DVI ports

Someone last night said their 7300 and 8800 'don't get along' and having trouble, though it seems it should but make sure you get the right card.
And there is the Radeon 3870.

  • [GeForce 6] NVIDIA GeForce 6600 512

    Doe's Nvidia support the "Diablotek NVIDIA GeForce 6600 512"  model NE+66000+TD51-PM8543 ?
What new drivers support the 512 memory?
I had posted about this before but didn't any replies except my own that I had found the basic product info. I've seen these cards at different sellers locations but beyond sales there is no extra support. Specifically from NVIDIA.
All help would be good. Also the card with the original driver pack works GREAT.
Also WHY does the Package say "SLI supported" and yet there is NO SLI bridge connection? Did NVIDIA make a mistake and send out a bad card or just a bad package?

I guess the mistake is from Diablotek, about SLI issue, and personally I don't like Diablotek products. And I guess you should stick to the driver pack, if it works don't touch it.

  • Geforce 8800GT AND Geforce 7300GT in the Mac Pro?

I used the search feature: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1288408
That's the only useful thread I could find that has to do with 2 cards in the Mac Pro at the same time. So basically I'm wondering, has anyone tried this with the same cards or the same idea before? and did it work?. I'm just wondering if it's possible so I don't have to let the 7300GT gather dust in my closet. I do run Windows XP in bootcamp, not with parallels or VMware Fusion because I need to play PC games at full throttle with full system performance etc. Thanks in advance for any tips.

You can use the two graphics cards, but it's only useful if you have more than two displays. It won't give you higher speed.

  • [GeForce PCe] MSI GeForce NX7800GTX VIVO questions

Hey all!  I currently own a MSI 6600GT (128MB version) PCIe graphics card, and I was considering purchasing the 7800GTX sometime within the next six months to get the most out of my games.
I've seen that the 7800GTX has VIVO capabilities, and I've searched MSI's site as well as other sites trying to get more details, but I haven't been able to find any.  I also use my computer to run a small digital video editing business, and I've got an upcoming project to convert many VHS tapes to DVD.  I've used my Pinnacle MovieBox DV (connected via firewire) to do this in the past, but since it's not very reliable I was thinking using VIVO of the 7800GTX might work better.  From what I understand, I could hook up a VCR to either the composite video in or S-video in to convert the VHS to digital video.
So if anyone out there has used the video-in VIVO features, could you give me some details as to how it works?  Does the card include MSI software to capture video via VIVO?  Can I capture video as an uncompressed AVI or a DV AVI?  Would it be possible to capture video-in directly from Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5?
If anyone can help me out, I'd surely appreciate it.  If these things are possible, I'll prolly go on ahead and buy the NX7800GTX.  My Pinnacle MovieBox is supposedly "prosumer", but it really blows.  It locks up all the time, and then I have to start it over.  With all the VHS tapes I'll be converting, I don't have time for that!
    -Josh

The latter information about cards having different chips is unrelated to your problems. I have a sticky addressing the Pipline/Chip issue.
You can posts links, there is no restriction currently that I am aware of at this time. However, there have been discussions relating to new users and imposing a restriction until a post count has been reached.
As for your problem, provided your BIOS settings are correct, and you are using the latest nVidia Drivers this isn't something I've seen yet. If you could post some screenshots, that also might be helpful.
Please, also enter your profile settings, and put your hardware listing as a signature in the event this thread becomes lengthy, users wont have to go to the top or previous page to see your hardware.
Have you tried swapping the cards to see if the behavior changes? And to possibly expose a problem with one particular card?
Have you looked or posted in the nVidia forums?
Hopefuly someone will come along that's seen this or is aware of this. Perhaps it's just a driver setting somewhere. As you can see, without me actually seeing it, I'm guessing.

  • [GeForce 6] MSI GeForce NX6800 128 TD problem

    Hi!
Five months ago I bougth a new video card mentioned in topic title (MSI NX6800 128 TD). After a few weeks of use my system began to freeze and occured a lots of BSOD (with error code KERNEL INPAGE ERROR or KERNEL STACK ERROR, rarely PAGE FAULT AT NONPAGED AREA) when I ran a 3D application/game approximately 2-30 minutes. These symptoms often means memory error so I tested my DDR RAMs to be sure none of them is damaged. Memtest86 found no errors in my DDR memory. I opened the pc case to check the vga and as I touched it, the copper heatsink was very hot (maybe that is normal). I thougth that an overheat of vga memories should have caused the freezes. The fan of the vga was set to 4000 RPM (maximum), so it was very strange that can be overheated (no overclocking of course). After that I applied an external fan to cool the memories of the vga and opened the case for good air flow, but the BSODs didn't disappeared. I could run games a little bit longer after these modifications but no more than 2-3 hours. The temperature of the GPU is 52 Celsius (2D like Windows) to 60 Celsius (3DMark 2005). I don't know whether it is high or normal (I guess it is not too high, because core slowdown temperature is set to 135 Celsius by factory default), and I don't know the temperature of the vga memories (I guess it is higher than the gpu's because of higher frequency). My question is how to decrease the temperature of gpu and memories (if they are high)? I use official MSI drivers, and no other hardvare is damaged in my PC. Any idea?

    andriscs,
Sorry to here of your troubles still. A weak PSU can cause all sorts of problems
Quote from: andriscs on 06-May-05, 18:39:31
My question: can the failing PSU cause such problem like DirectX draw failure? I guess my NX6800 could draw 2D shapes so this error could be originated from my dying PSU?
Buying the new PSU is a sound investment that will help to protect your system and allow for upgrades even if, on the odd chance, it doesn't solve your problems. You wouldn't drive your car with watered down fuel to save money would you?
Quote from: andriscs on 08-May-05, 07:40:21
    Hi!
I really hate my computer. It freezed when I was working on an important document so my work was compromised. On Monday when the first computer shop opens, I will rush to it, and will buy the new PSU and I won't care whether its price is 1000 euros. If my computer will fail with the new PSU I will obsolete it and will use as a low quality commode. If I were a wizard my first deed would be that I would create a chipset with only one chip on it that handles graphics, acts as memory and CPU and sound card, stores information and directly takes power from main electricity network and its price is about 5 euros for easy replace. This would be worth not this "one little piece kills all the system"-thing. Neumann (who was born in Hungary so he was my compatriot) should have thought about comformization and his theory should have been based on it.
Where would the fun be if everthing was standardized. As much as we all complain about stuff, would life not be boring without these challenges?
Lets us know how it goes. You may be just fine with the new PSU.
    Jerry

    *THANKS !!!*

According to your G5 specification the ATI Radeon 9800 XT with 256MB of DDR SDRAM will work.
+(Notice that there are few models of 9800 i.e.: 9800 64MB, 9800 128MB, 9800 Pro Mac Edition, and some of them are for the older computers)+
But the fastest card for your computer is Nvidia 6800 Ultra DDL or ATI X800XT.
The ATI you can find here:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/ATI%20Technologies/100435338OB/
6800, usually is much more expensive and not easy to find.

  • New IMac GeForce 8800 GS Graphics card questions

I am considering buying a new IMac 3.06 Intel Processor with 500 GB HD, 2GB RAM, Geforce 8800 GS Graphics Card and 24 inch display.
Will this computer be able to run Windows Vista Aero Glass with all features turned on via Bootcamp software included with Jaguar?
Also does anyone have any information on this GeForce 8800 GS card? I've tried googling it and keep getting sporadic results of Geforce GTS and Geforce GTX cards but nothing about this GS card!
I want to run Vistas AeroGlass and the games I'm interested in playing are WOW, Oblivion, Battlefield 2142 & COD 4.
Can the new IMacs with this GeForce 8800 GS handle all this?

I have the AL iMac 2.4GHz w/ 1GB RAM and the Radeon 2600 w/ 256. Running XP in BootCamp I can run COD4 @ Max and is very playable (not necessarily full throttle) w/ plenty of action on screen. Also the PREY demo works just about as good. If I go to 1600x1200 it will run flawlessly.
WoW will play great on Leopard (though I've had a few freezes in game:::not sure if this is Mac update related or patching for WoW itself). You can also max WoW out and it runs smoother than COD4 (WoW is older) but for the beauty of the game and smoothness tune it a bit and you are cool. And yes AAx8:)
    Can't wait until I go to the Corsair 4GB kit w/ 4-4-12 cycle:):):P

  • CS4 and IGP Geforce 8200, not supported why?

    Hey,
I have a motherboard with a Geforce IGP 8200 Chip.
The openGl is 3.0. So I think the opengl in Photoshop have to work or is the IGP to weak?
With a ATI 4670 it works fine and this card is not listed in the kb eather.
    Thanks

    Hey,
yes we are talking about CS4 and I updated everything: directX,
I have drivers for the IGP 8200/ 730a. The normal WHQ Driver 182.50 WHQL @ Nvidia has integrated the 8200.
    And I have a normal motherboard ( ASROCk K10N78-1394):
    Supported Cards:
    GeForce 8400 GS
    GeForce 8400
    GeForce 8300 GS
    GeForce 8300
    GeForce 8200
    GeForce 8100 / nForce 720a
    GeForce 7950 GX2
    GeForce 7950 GT
even with the nVidia nForce 15.26 driver (Version 15.26 for: nForce 980a, 780a, 750a, 730a ...) there is no chance. So I think the IGP are unsopported by Adobe?

  • Hardware Acceleration on Flash, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285

Has it been enabled on OS X? I tried to play an 1080p YouTube and the CPU still shows over 100%.
I tried the same on Windows thorugh Boot Camp, I got maximum 15% CPU usage.

    I think anandtech reviewed Flash w/ GTX 285 - a year ago:

Flash Player 10.1 supports hardware-accelerated decoding of H.264 video on Windows and Mac computers with supported hardware and drivers, providing enhanced video performance. For the latest information on supported hardware and drivers, visit the following vendor sites:

Flash Player 10.1 offers GPU-acceleration of H.264 video on NVIDIA ION and supported NVIDIA GeForce and Quadro-powered computers.
Mac OS X hardware decoding support
On Mac computers, hardware decoding of H.264 video in Flash Player is available with Mac OS X 10.6.4 and later on hardware supported by the Mac OS Video Decode Acceleration Framework (such as the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, GeForce 320M, and GeForce GT 330M). Whether hardware decoding will engage for a specific video is determined by the Mac OS Video Decode Acceleration Framework. View hardware used by different Mac models

Flash playback is extremely CPU intensive. CUDA is something Nvidia knows, and OpenCL is in its 1.1 infancy and lagging on AMD and with Adobe.

  • PrPro 5.5 and nVidia GeForce 7600 GT - do they get along..?

This question should probably be directed to nVidia, but since I know that this forum is used by some very talented people, my hopes are that there's one out there that can help..:
After installing Premiere Pro 5.5, using 2 x nVidia GeForce 7600 GT GPUs, I've experienced multiple BSOD's while exporting HD footage from PP 5.5 through Adobe Media Encoder 5.5. Furthermore I've experienced several occations of my screens going black for a second, followed by a "Your GPU driver stopped working and was restarted" Windows message.
I suspected the problems to be related to the co-relation between PP 5.5 and my GPUs (the "driver stopped"-thing almost for certain) and by checking the Adobe GPU compliance list and not finding my GPU there, my suspicion was enhanced.
However, on its driver download site nVidia states that the latest driver 275.33 "Supports the new GPU-accelerated features in Adobe CS5". This statement is not limited to certain versions of GeForce GPU's, so I have to assume that it counts for the 7600 family as well.
So my questions are as follows:
    • Am I right in assuming that my BSOD problems can be related to the GPU?
    • If so: Keeping in mind that nVidia states that the 275.33 driver supports Adobe CS5's GUP accelerated features, is there any way around forging out a fortune on a new GPU to make things work as intended..?
    My set-up:
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ 2200 Mhz • Motherboard: M2N32-SLI Premium Vista Edition • RAM: 4 GB Kingston HyperX pc3200 • GPU: 2 x MSI NX7600GT Diamond Plus (Sli) • Harddisks: 4 x Hitachi SATA, total of 1360 GB • OS: Win 7, 64 bit

    Arne,
Don't feel so bad about this. You're not alone in experiencing such indifferent support. AMD, the owner of ATi, is even rougher than Nvidia when it comes to support of older GPUs: AMD has ceased further driver releases for all of its GPUs older than the HD 2xxx series except for critical compatibility fixes (the so-called "legacy support" status), beginning with the Catalyst 9.4 drivers (which pre-date the release of Windows 7).
By the way, if you don't perform any tweaking or hacking (software-wise), the only Nvidia GPUs that are certified to run in GPU-accelerated mode in CS5.5 are:
    GeForce GTX 285
    GeForce GTX 470
    GeForce GTX 570
    GeForce GTX 580
    Quadro FX 3700M
    Quadro FX 3800
    Quadro FX 3800M
    Quadro FX 4800
    Quadro FX 5800
    Quadro 2000
    Quadro 2000D
    Quadro 2000M
    Quadro 3000M
    Quadro 4000
    Quadro 4000M
    Quadro 5000
    Quadro 5000M
    Quadro 5010M
    Quadro 6000
    Quadro CX
The other GeForce GPUs of the GeForce 8xxx or later series with 896MB or more RAM can be made to work in the GPU-accelerated mode in CS5.5 by modifying the cuda_supported_cards.txt file. Your 7600 GT will not work at all in that mode because not only the card has too little RAM, but is also too old.
    Hope this helps.
