[GeForce 6] MSI GF 6600 DIAMOND and msicpl.sys BSOD

Hello,
Everytime I run MSI control panel (MSI Information panel and MSI Clock panel) I get BSOD telling me that file msicpl.sys is working not well, etc.
I'm using 71.50 drivers.
And the second problem. My card is running at PCIx0 - can't change to work at AGP 8x. Any ideas?
And the last question - how to decrease the fan speed? it's a bit loud.

Please go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information. Expand the "Hardware Resources" Tree, select "IRQ's" then use the menu bar's "Edit" command to "Select All" then "Copy" Then post the contents on a new post.
It should look like this, structure wise anyway.

  • MSI GF 6600 AGP AND problem with clocks

    Hello,
    I've got a big problem with saving clocks in my graphic card. Neither RivaTuner nor coolbits don't work - after rebooting computer the clocks are reseted and forced to default values.
    I'm using fw 71.89 (previously 71.84).

    Winter,
    Run Driver Cleaner and get rid of all the old Drivers. Then install the latest nVidia ForceWare Drivers. From there try to set the clock speeds you want. (Make sure you set it to apply at startup.)
    Remember that there are two speeds, one for 2D and another for 3D.
    Take Care,

  • MSI 6600 diamond PCI-E/ 3DMARK05 = 739/ PSU Problem?

    This is my first post, so forgive me if it's not OK.
    I have an MSI NX6600 VTD128E diamond. I am getting the Nvidia Sentinal warning approx. 75% of the time. I just installed an Enermax EG465P-VE FMA. I'm not sure if the specs will show up in my profile, so they are 3.3v - 35A, 5v - 35A, 12v - 33A. From all the reading I have done I thought this would solve my problem, but it did not. My original PSU was a 300W Hipro with dual 12v rails @ 18A each that came with my computer, and I got the warning everytime I turned it on, which is why I switched for the new one.
    These cards get there power from the PCI-E slot on the motherboard with no option for an extra power connector. At this point I don't know if I need a new PSU with dual 12v rails, or if there is something else causing the problem. From reviews of other 6600 cards I think my 3DMARK05 numbers should be between 2600-3200? Any thoughts or suggestions would be very appreciated.

    Thanks for the reply blazing storm.
    I have had 1 or 2 restarts trying beta drivers, 71.81 and MSI's 71.22 caused a strange xp screen saying please wait, but it never booted up. Far cry wouldn't load with one of them. This is the only game I'm playing right now and it actually runs pretty good with settings on High. My clock speeds were at 400/800 after the Sentinal warning so I'm not sure what it is doing, but my marks definatly suggest something is wrong. Everything runs ok with the 66.93, which I used before the beta's and I am using them now.I didn't get the warning when I started my Comp this time so I think I will try 3DMARK05 again just to see if there are any changes.
    From what I understand about Memtest (very little) I need a floppy drive, but I don't have one. Am I correct or is there another way to use the program? Anybody else have some ideas? Please.
    PS- could someone explain the differences between ATX12V, ATX V1.0, V1.3, V2.0, V2.3? etc. Do the new PCI-E boards need a specific version? Thanks.

  • [GeForce 6] Energy warning by nvidia on MSI gf 6600 gt

       Hi, i have a big warning by nvidia saying that the clock of my video card has been automaticly lowered (underclocked) because the card doesnt get enought energy (this only occur under full load). My power suply was 400 watts, i Changed it for a 500 watts power suplly. Had no problem afet i change it. One week later y sold the card to a friend. the warning apeared once in windows, not enven in full load.
    My question is: Does this really means that the card doesnt get enought energy or could be something else?
    the card is a MSI gefore 6600 gt agp 8x 128 mb vivo
    sorry for my english.
    none of the pc are overclocked.
    My Pc: athlon xp 2400 (core B), 768 mb ram (ddr 400), MSI kt4 ultra, Powe suplly 400 then 500, Seagate barracuda80 gb serial ata, cd rom, dvd rw, 3 case fans
    His Pc: Athlon xp 3200 (Barton), 1 Gb ram (333), 450W power suplly, cdrom, dvd rom, cdrw (independant), Msi kt6, hard drive (dont know witch one), 3 case fans.
    Big thanks
    Puco

    Hi, his PC needs more power than yours, and also could you please look at the stick in th PSU and post here how much amps do they have (yours and his), it should be like this: 12v 18a, 5v 30a and so on. And again he has a more powerful PC and ot means that it needs more power.
    Off topic: It happened to me the same two days ago, I was starting to play Far Cry, and the big warning came out, also I noticed that my VGA Fan stopped running after that. I gues my PSU cannot support my rig anymore. I have 6 fans connected in my rig, but I tried to add another one, when I connected the others started to run slowly, I could hear that, I did twice for a couple of seconds to see if I was wrong but no way, I can't add more fans (we're having 33 ° C outside... is getting really hot here  ) What do you think guys? I don't want to hijack Puco's thread, it was just a comment, I know, I have to change ASAP my PSU.

  • MSI 745 Ultra mobo and XP 2400+ cpu problem

    Well I just bought an Athlon XP 2400+ cpu as an upgrade for this computer. I am having a hard time getting it to work properly. My setup is as follows:
    MSI 745 Ultra mobo (BIOS 1.6 and tried 1.5)
    AMD Athlon XP 2400+
    Samsung pc2700 memory (2x256meg sticks)
    Asylum Geforce 4 Ti4600 video card
    Unknown 10/100 nic
    Maxtor 30gig HD
    The first problem was, the XP 2400+ cpu was auto detected as an 1800+ running at 1.5ghz. I looked on the MSI cpu support page and it said to set the BIOS settings to 133 for the CPU FSB and 15 for the CPU Ratio. I did this (using 1.6 bios version) and the system would not boot. After some struggling I was able to get into the BIOS again. I messed with different Ratio's to lower the operating speed of the cpu. It turned out that anything I tried with the 133 FSB setting would hang the system. I looked in MSI knowledge base, it has my exact same problems listed and the recommended fix is to "upgrade" to BIOS 1.5. So, for kicks I downgraded my 1.6 BIOS to the 1.5 version. I still had the same exact problems, however, one different. When the FSB was set at 133 and Ratio at 15, for some reason the system booted but set the FSB back to 100 and the Ratio to 20 (which is not even an option in the bios). I found this information using Wincpuid once the system was booted. I really would like to get this cpu working as it should and be found as an Athlon 2400+ running at 2.0ghz. Anyone have any ideas?
    Could the power supply be at fault at all? It's just a generic PS that came with the case. Maybe the 2400+ needs more power to run at the higher clock speed and FSB? My other thought is the memory. Something related to the ram maybe? TIA.
    Justin

    Ok the trick is to do *not* as the MSI cpu support webpage says. The support webpage says to set the CPU FSB to 133 and the CPU Ratio (multiplier) to 15. My system would not boot this way. I set the FSB to 133 and the ratio to "H/W" and it works perfectly fine.

  • Is my speaker system compatible with MSI K8N SLI Diamond?

    Hi!
    Can I use my old speaker system with MSI K8N SLI Diamond. My speaker system is Creative Inspire 5.1 5500D Digital with decoder. Now 5.1 sound doesn't work properly. When I try look movie with PowerDVD6, center speaker is dead and no speech on movie. On PowerDVD6, SPDIF output is selected and tried also 6.1 channel options but no, speech will not play at center speaker. Some games too 5.1 surround doesn't work. I have connected my speaker system on motherboard coaxial SPDIF to speaker systems Decoder coaxial SPDIF, and speakers on that decoder. Do I have to buy new analog speaker system to get 5.1 surround working? If I connect my speaker system directly on MB analog outputs, sound balance in very bad, rear and front speaker is good but center speaker crackling and speech at center speaker sound like volume level is much too high.

    Quote from: Stick on 10-February-06, 19:24:28
    if you know that the speakers are working (tested on another pc) it is usually a software configuration error. if the decoder would mess up the sounds, it is unlikely that you would hear anything in the other speakers too.
    My speakers systems works perfect my previous setup, when motherboard has nForce2 SoundStorm integrated chip.
    Some other forums, peoples claims that this MSI k8n motherboard can't send multichannel 5.1 surround audio on SPDIF and I have to connect my speakers on motherboard analog sound outputs.

  • P7N Diamond and multiple RAID

    I'm looking to buy a new system and MSI's P7N Diamond looks like a good choice to me.
    The specs says that the onboard nForce 570i SLI supports 6 SATA II ports in RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5
    Is there anyone who knows if its possible to have multiple RAIDs configed on that controller?
    I'm thinking 2x WD Raptor 36GB in one RAID 0 for the system and 2x WD 1TB in one RAID 0 for data.
    Is it possible to have both RAID-disks and non RAID-disks (single disks) on the controller on the samr time?
    Many questions...
    Most gratefull for any help!
    Best Regards!
    /Pär

    "Is there anyone who knows if its possible to have multiple RAIDs configed on that controller?"
    Yes should be fine, just create 2 independent arrays.
    "Is it possible to have both RAID-disks and non RAID-disks (single disks) on the controller on the samr time?"
    If you want to use the same Sata ports for single disk(s), you will need to disable RAID from BIOS for those Sata channels where are connected your HDD's which will be used as single drive.
    Example you may have:
    SATA1  WD Raptor 36GB |
    SATA2  WD Raptor 36GB | both 2x WD Raptor 36GB assigned in RAID0 (or 1)  --->  Array 1
    SATA3  WD 1TB |
    SATA4  WD 1TB |  both 2xWD 1TB assigned in RAID0 (or 1) ---> Array 2
    SATA5  Some other SATA HDD as single drive (RAID for SATA5 should be disabled in BIOS)
    SATA6  Some other SATA HDD as single drive (RAID for SATA6 should be disabled in BIOS)

    Does any body out there know if a MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU and a MSI FX5900XT 128MB DDR Video Card will work well together?

      like the grayone say, is true. for more ensure, try and search the graphic cards support list for your board at MSI (Sorry cause i don,t no is  where the site located)
      in my opinion, most is compability for your card, when is a AGP slot.
      Except the new one like the AGP slot, call AGR( Accelaration Graphic Riser slot) that really need to find a compatibility graphic cards.....

  • MSI KT3 Ultra ARU and S2K Bus Disconnect

    Hello
    I have a MSI KT3 Ultra ARU and a AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (266 FSB version). I wonder if I have support for termal diode in both CPU and mainboard.
    Is S2K Bus Disconnect and CPU HALT Command detection the same thing?

    Quote
    KT3 ultra's I believe were the first boards capable of reading thermal diode inside of AMD XP (Palamino/T-bred/barton, etc) and higher cores.
    Not the first, but they were up there as being among the first.  A few KT266 boards implemented the circuitry to read thermal diode.  Second or third revision boards, or new models, based on KT266A and even KM266 began implementing the thermal diode circuitry.
    KT3 Ultra has thermal diode read circuit:

  • [Other 865 Series] MSI 865PE Neo2-V and Dual Channel Mode Question

    Hello, I have a quick question regarding dual channel mode with my current motherboard. I have an MSI 865PE Neo2-V and am wondering if it is possible to enable dual channel mode while having three RAM modules inserted in the motherboard.
    For example, I currently have one 512MB PC3200 module in my computer. If I purchase another 512MB module and run them in dual channel mode, will it be possible to buy a 1GB module or another size module, and still have all three slots run in dual channel mode? Or is dual channel only operational on this motherboard if only two of the three slots are occupied?
    Thanks.

    Dual channel requires an even number of sticks.

  • MSIE vs. Firefox and asynchronous AJAX...is MSIE really NOT doing async?

    Apex v4.1
    MSIE v8.0 and Windows XP
    Firefox v6.0.2
    Background
    Sorry it's a lot but I figure giving all this context would help avoid tangental questions that could derail from my real question(s).
    I have a master-detail page where I have such business and functional requirements to do a lot of various validations, checking, disabling/enabling, etc. in the detail region. Given that detail regions in master-detail pages are nothing more than tabular forms that are filtered by the master record's PK and that tabular forms have limited validation and nonexistent calculation ability via declarative calculation processes, my detail region is immensely javascript heavy. In addition, I have the functional requirement that the user see all detail lines on the same page, so I cannot limit the page to 10-15 lines per page anyway.
    When the page loads, I need to do a number of functional things to the detail region before the page control is turned over to the user, such as:
    1. Disable certain columns that are saved as database columns but never touched by the user.
    2. Disable certain columns that the user does not have authorization to modify (but tabular forms have no "readonly" attribute for columns like page items do)
    3. Disable certain fields on a row (but not on all rows) based on business rules (e.g.: if PART_NO on a row is null, PART_SERIAL_NO on that row only needs to be disabled (as the user shouldn't be able to enter it).
    4. Etc., etc...you get the idea. There are just a lot of things that cannot be declaratively done to a tabular form column and also things that cannot be done on a row-by-row basis, hence the javascript.
    When the page loads, I also have to do two cosmetic things to the rows and these can be done after the control is turned over to the user since they are cosmetic only and do not affect their ability to be disabled out of a row-field combo, etc.:
    1. For one column that is a popup key LOV, override the displayed value with a different value than Apex generates from the LOV definition. In other words, the LOV definition is "a || b" for the display value and "c" for the return value, but on the main page the users want "a" for the display value that they see.
    2. For all records, evaluate several fields on a record and as a result, highlight certain other fields in red, yellow, or black via the background color.
    Everything is actually working in both MSIE and Firefox and I'm happy about that. However, the stuff I'm doing in the second group (the popup key LOV display field and the coloring of the background of fields) is only working nicely and quickly in Firefox but is super slow in MSIE. My worst-case scenario in testing is my master-detail has 281 detail rows and in Firefox it takes about 20-25 seconds to paint the page, give control to the user, and then finish doing the asynchronous AJAX stuff after that (which sems to also go quickly). In MSIE, my page rendering time ranges from 1 minute 30 seconds with the AJAX async stuff commented out and not even running to over five minutes (!) with the AJAX stuff left in and running. The difference of 4+ minutes also implies to me that the AJAX stuff is not running asynchronously (or if it is, something else is getting in the way of the effective purpose of it being asynchronous).
    Right or wrong, how I built my page is that since a lot of the Javascript code is to act on the detail region onlly, I defined the javascript in the region and not in the page just so that when the detail region isn't displayed (usually when a new master is being created), we don't even display or render any of the javascript.
    When the detail region does show, the Javascript that goes along with it to do all the work to the detail region rows/columns also runs.
    Example...this is in the region footer of the detail region:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    //Always when region loads
    //Initialize special processing on the fields on the lines that can't be done
    //elsewhere.
    if (window.addEventListener) // W3C standard
      addLoadEvent(InitDetailItems());
    else if (window.attachEvent) // Internet Explorer
      addLoadEvent(InitDetailItems);
    if (window.addEventListener)
      window.addEventListener('load', postLoad, false);
    else
      window.attachEvent('onload', postLoad);
    </script>When the detail region loads, I append a call to the onload event of the page so that the function InitDetailItems is called (addLoadEvent is just another wrapper that detects if the page even has an InitDetailItems function and if it does, it then adds a call to InitDetailItems to fire in addition to any other on-load processing). I did it this way as a matter of style such that if a developer added any onload at the page header that this would just be appended to it. This call to addLoadEvent and InitDetailItems all runs javascript to prepare the detail region non-async (the user must wait for it to finish processing before they should get control of the browser).
    Then, the call to also add on a call to postLoad is where the cosmetic async stuff is supposed to happen. I am not a javascript expert by no means but from what I can gather:
    1. "window.addEventListener('load', postLoad, false);" works for most non-IE browsers, adds a call to postLoad on the event 'load', and "false" means that it is done non-binding (async).
    2. There is no "addEventListener" in MSIE, so it uses "window.attachEvent" to add the call to postLoad to the onload event. This is non-async with no async option, but....keep reading...
    PostLoad itself looks like this:
    function postLoad()
    { //Stuff do to after this region loads but can be done in an async fashion
      //because they're only cosmetic things.
      setAllMaintDescr(gMaintItemIdCol,gMaintItemIdCol + "_DISPLAY");
      checkAndColorFields();
    }setAllMaintDescr is the function that sets my popup key LOV values by querying the database and returning and setting the values in this field accordingly.
    checkAndColorFields is the function that passes some fields' values to a PL/SQL packaged function, it computes a color of black, red, yellow, or none and the javascript sets some field background colors accordingly. This logic resides in a PL/SQL package because we have a BI report that is a near copy of this page and needs to call the same logic.
    Both setAllMaintDescr and checkAndColorFields call htmldb_Get and get.GetAsync when the database work is done, so even though in MSIE the call to postLoad is not async, the functions themselves call async code that should theoretically be executing in an async manner.
    The Real Question(s)
    So...bottom line is that in Firefox, the page always takes about 20-25 seconds to load with or without setAllMaintDescr and checkAndColorFields commented/uncommented. This leads me to believe that my code in InitDetailItems (all non-async) is consistently taking 20-25 seconds to execute and postLoad processing is truly async since the page is returned to user control in the same amount of time.
    But in MSIE, without setAllMaintDescr and without checkAndColorFields, page load already is a slower 1 minute 35 seconds. With setAllMaintDescr and checkAndColorFields, it swells to well over 5 minutes whereas these async calls to htmldb_Get I would think should not increase much if at all over the initial 1:30 load time.
    Any tricks with MSIE? Any settings in the browser I need to know about? Is it truly ignoring my get.Get_Async calls and treating them as get.get()?
    Or is MSIE just truly that much of a turd as a browser? Ugh.
    Sorry for the long narrative but wanted to answer as many questions about my page first.

    ^^^ Long post.
    Cliff's notes for those I may have lost:
    Page dynamically adds two Javascript functions to the onload event.
    Each Javascript function calls some PL/SQL but it's all done using get.GetAsync.
    Firefox returns control of the page to the end user relatively quickly and consistently regardless of what functions are commented out/uncommented.
    MSIE is much slower and takes more time as I uncomment the async Javascript functions.
    Why does MSIE seem as if it's behaving non-asynchronously?

  • MSI-PRO-E Motherboard and OCZ3G1600LV6GK

    I have been doing some research and am deeply confused. I am going to be buying a MSI Pro-E motherboard and am planning on buying OCZ Gold Ram (3 x 2GB). I was looking at the timings and am getting confused. Some people are saying you have to mess with the BIOS to get the timing to 8-8-8-24, and others are saying that you don't have to do anything. So I am wondering if you actually have to do anything in order to obtain the timing of 8-8-8-24? Also Can the motherboard run RAM at 1600Mhz without overclocking or would I have to overclock the RAM in order to get that speed?

    Thanks for the reply. Sorry I forgot to mention that I am going to be using a I7 920 processor. Also I found a picture of the bios settings someone had and they were doing the second method you mentioned.  I don't think it has more than 1 XMP profile, and if it does I'm probably not going to change it because I will be using the second method. So just to double check to make sure I'm not messing this up, I want to set it to 2N not 1N right? (Just checking cause I read somewhere that you usually leave it on 1N.)
    Typically you will want to use 1N but some RAM won't be able to do it properly...
    Something else you may want to consider: If you use 1333 mode instead of 1600 you won't have to increase voltage and often can use much better RAM timings. I've some 7-7-7-20 Corsair RAM in here but when I found out that in 1333 mode it runs with 4-6-6-15 without the requirement to increase the voltage, I was very happy to leave it at that. There are also other timings which can nicely be set manually - my tRFC is 49 instead of 88 now!
    Something which may speak against using XMS info: My corsair RAM is a triple kit, but somehow one module has one value set differently than the others in there...thus I'm using manual setup now (tRFC was set much too high anyway, it wasn't even using XMS info).
