[GeForce 6] MSI NX6600GT, no boot with KM400 board.

Three days ago I bougt a MSI NX6600GT VTD128 Videocard. Unfortonately I am not able to boot at all with my KM400 mainboard with the VIA chipset. On advice I found on the internet I bought a more powerfull 420 Watt PSU wich did not solve the problem.
When turning on the power all fans and drives come up, but the only LED what's on is the HDD LED wich is constantly on. Not even the powerLED comes on and I don't even get a POST. When replacing the 6600 by my older Radeon 9200SE everything is working allright. I played around with my BIOS settings such as AGP drinving control and 4X, 8X, but nothing seems to help. Finally I begin to doubt if my 6600 card is compatible with my KM400 board.
Can anybody help me what to do else?

Hmm...thought u had a MSI KM400
Try tis bunch of changes in BIOS:
AGP voltage: 1,6v
Fast-write (if it's there): Off
AGP speed: 4x
Be sure to disable the onboard !!!
I can only change the AGP drive control. I tried B9h, CCh, DCh. Non of them with succes. I cannot find the AGP voltage in my AwardBIOS. I also cannot see an option to disable the onboard.

  • [GeForce PCe] MSI NX6600GT PCi-e ?

    Hi there,
I have 2 MSI NX6600GT 128 running in SLi mode. When I goto use MSI Turbo Experience it comes up with a screen that says:
"MSIVGA.ocx initialization error". I have 71.84 drivers and all other drivers are installed. It also happened with the 66.93 drivers that came on the CD and so I updated.  I contacted MSI and they told me to read the forums here as there most likely would be a solution. I built this system from the ground up myself. I have had no troubles with it. I can play games like MVP2005 and Doom3 with no probs. But sometimes when I goto load up a saved game playing Silent Hunter 3 starts to initialize then goes to the desktop (this has happened very rarely). I haven't overclocked anything I won't be doing that. I only have a few games installed as I am taking things slowly. My GPU temps are 48c idle and after playing Doom 3 for about an hour are 60c. CPU is 35c and case temp is 43c. I have a 120mm fan blowing in from the front and 2 80mm fans exhausting. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Kick MSI Turdo Experience to the curb (get rid of it)
It's more of a sales gimmick, then really being usefull in most cases.
If it continues, you may want to start all over from scratch and get the latest drivers here nVidia Drivers
I always avoid drivers on the CD at all costs and the manufacturer's drivers as well. Unless of course there is a known problem or issue that mandates use of the manufacturer's drivers. Otherwise, always get the latest drivers from the chipset vendor.
Also, a bit tedious is trolling forums for any clues as to what everone else is using without issue, you'll at least have an educated head start.

  • [GeForce 6] MSI NX6600GT GC

Using Microsoft Flight Simulator (FS9) with MSI nx6600gt GC cause problems.
If I want to use fsnavigator with fs9 I have to set the drivers to force 8*S AA and 16* AF. Fsnavigator works properly but now FS9 doesn't show any picture for the selected aircraft (only a black picture)
But when I run FS9 with MSI FX5200 everything is all right and when I use NX6600GT i have the problem.
Could someone tell me why? The problem may come from the card itself ?
Any help would be much appreciated.

    monicatang,
It could be a Driver issue, try the latest DirectX and the latest nVidia ForceWare Drivers

  • Macbook boot with logic board pins

So I have been given a macbook that has had liquid damage, a Macbook Unibody model number A1278 specificially. I took the entire computer apart and cleaned and dried all the parts, when i put it back together it still wouldn't power on. However, I have been playing around with shorting the pins on the logic board and got the fan to start spinning which I assume means that the logic board isn't fried. I was wondering if anyone new what exact pins you need to short for it to boot up?
    Cheers, Toby.

The question has come up before in the forum.  Most people in this forum consider a water-damaged system to be a lost cause, unless Apple has replaced parts.  Even if systems can be made to work, water damage tends to resurface a few months later as unrecoverable shutdown.
ifixit.com has picture-guides for certain repairs, and maybe even the specifications you need.  Or Google for those who have put far more effort into those specs.

  • Compatibility ?? MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 with chaintech motherboard ?

    hi
i have bought recently this MSI NX6600GT-VTD128  and install it on chaintech 7VIL4  with 512 ddr athlon 2800+  400W psu   and cant start the pc black screen no boot only fan working....   so my seller told me that maybe it is not compatible wat do you think about this ???
thanks for helping  i try everything except install it on other pc
    bye

Just because yours has more watts doesn't mean it is more powerful.
    Check out this topic https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=76923.0
Also please post the max amps for your powersupply on the 3.3v 5v and 12v rails. This info can be found on a sticker on the side of the PSU.

  • [GeForce 6] System Doenst power on with NX6600GT inserted!

Hi, I dont know whats going on!!
This is my first computer build in 5 years and Im having alot of grief.
The PC wont even start with the PCI-E card inserted (MSI nx6600gt)
When I press the power button, the power led flashes for a second, the fan on the graphics card moves a couple of mm and stops and nothing else happens! The CPU fan doesnt even move.
I have tried the card in the other PCI-E slot and the same thing happens.
    Clearing CMOS doesnt help.
If I remove the card entirely, the system boots as normal. I borrowed an old PCI VGA card and that works fine.
Now the funny thing is- The MSI used to work in it. During initial testing, it booted up fine. The problem occured as I exited the bios. I had changed a few settings (nothing relating to PCI-E Im sure, just some usb settings,) when I saved and exited, the system just went off. After that, It wouldnt start again unless the Graphics card was removed
Using the old PCI card, I restored to default and tried again- No Joy
I've already RMA'd the memory as one stick was faulty (Hmmmmm)
When I got them back, everything worked fine till what happened as mentioned above. As This is a new build, the system hasnt been running for any length of time (less than 1/2 hr uptime in total!)
Any suggestions anyone... Would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

    Thanks for the relpies.
Heres the PSU Details as taken from the side of the PSU:
    +3.3v = 28A
    +5V   = 48A
    +12v  = 28A
I doubt its the PSU as its a relatively good spec and the graphics card is a mid range 6600GT, It doesnt even need a power connector.
Ive reset CMOS several times via battery removal and manually resetting to defaults. Still didnt work.
What gets me is that It used to work fine, then all of a sudden its not. The puzzle is did I mess up something in the BIOS or Is there a genuine hardware fault which coincidentally happened when I pressed 'Save and Exit'

  • MSI p67a-gd53 (b3) Wont boot with ram in slot 1 and 3, or 2 and 4.

Hi i recently built my own system, with just one ram stick in it boots fine and everything.
When i try to put the other stick in slot for so that in runs dual channel it just wont boot, it turns on starts the fans up and then just goes off, and repeats this.
The ram i have is Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit.
It also doesnt work in slots 2 and 4, can anyone help me :(?
    My setup is :
OCZ ZS Series 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail
    MSI P67A-GD53 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
MSI ATI Radeon HD 6870 OC HAWK 1024MB
    Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 4GB
    Seagate Barracuda 500gb HD
Gets no beeps on boot with just one stick in, im really confused :s
    All Help will be appreciated.

Both ram sticks worked in slot one and it would boot but I tried running a game and it froze each occasion, cud this be due to the ram being dual channel and only having one in? Or that the ram has the wrong settings.
I have returned the motherboard along with the ram to the shop i got it from for tests to see if the dimm slots had problems. Il let you guys know what they say.
Thanks for the advice, when I get it back il build it again and see if it runs fine, if not il try the things youve said.
Can anyone else shed any light on this? Any other things I may have to try?
    Thx again

  • MSI P43 won't boot with usb devices connected

    My system:
    MSI P43 Neo

NorthQ Black Magic 850 watt PSU
    Corsair 4 x 2GB ram PC2-8500 1066MHz

    Samsung 1.5 TB hd
    Club3D Nvidia GTX275 1,75 GB
    Samsung DVD Write Master
When i try to boot i freezes at the detecting usb devices when i have a usb device connected. It does with any usb device. But when i boot up without any usb devices connected then i boot fine and i can connect the devices right after the detection of usb devices. How can that be?

Googled on "computer not booting with usb code 6b38" and found this:
     Quote
    ****SLOW BOOT-UP in POST SCREEN****
P.S. If you see the BIOS code 6B38 in the bottom right corner of the screen, this is a indication that USB Legancy support is enabled in the BIOS. If this is enabled and you have any usb devices attached such as a external USB Hard drive, your system will take ages to go through the POST boot screens.
So disable this setting in the BIOS and the system will then boot in a matter of Seconds
    From:
    http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sis-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=30;t=000250
Also try and see if a clear CMOS will help, some people suggested that from a old post from MSI forum here, saying its bios 1.3 thats bugged.
So if disabling doesnt work, perhaps down/upgrading BIOS might.

  • MSi Dragon Editon 2 problems booting with usb mice

Hi to all people. I have a problem with my laptop. If i update my BIOS with versions newer tan E1763IMS.50V the laptop doesn´t boot with usb mice connected. I think i  answer this in the past but with not solution and now i ask again  thinking some people have a solution now.I have checked with differents EC versions and  BIOS E1763IMS.50V and with all versions works fine. If i update the BIOS E1763IMS.50V with other newer BIOS the problem appears. When the pc is started  and Windows 8.1 is charged i can connect the mouse and works fine too. I have checked with various mices and with all the problem appears. The only BIOS that works fine is E1763IMS.50V.
Thanks a lot for your help

I borrowed a GT70, plugged my SteelSeries Rival optical mouse and flashed with the same 50V version to the laptop. It boots & works normally.
And then I flashed to 518 version. It still boots & works normally.
So maybe your problem is not on the mouse?
Did it boot up if unplugging the mouse?

  • X79A-GD65 (8D) will not boot with 4930K or 3930K

    Short version:
My system will not boot but gets stuck at "09 Power on South Bridge Initialization"
    Detailed description:
I just bought this system and am when I tried to start it it got stuck at "09 Power on South Bridge Initialization". I have removed everything that is not necessary (gfx-card, HDDs, etc.) and only have the CPU and one memory stick inserted (in slot 1 as per the manual). I have also unplugged and put back all power cables from the PSU several times. I have also tried using BIOS A and B.
As I read on this forum that a BIOS update was needed for IVY-Bridge CPUs I bought a 3930K today to see if I could get the system up and running but it still gives me the same error code.
My board serial number is 601-7760-010B1312109204, assuming it is manufactured 1312 = December 2013.
I don't know the BIOS revision as I have never managed to get past the 09 status code.
Any ideas on what the problem could be?
Bought this monster PC as I have a delivery for a client in need of some RAM-heavy processing, so am really starting to feel stressed out about this by now.
    Thanks in advance!
    System details:
     - MSI X79A-GD65 (8D) X79 S-2011 ATX
     - INTEL CORE I7 4930K 3.4GHZ 12MB S-2011
     - INTEL 530 80GB SATA SSD MLC RESELLER KIT
     - INTEL 530 480GB SATA SSD MLC BULK (4 of these)
     - FRACTAL DESIGN INTEGRA R2 750W
     - ASUS GEFORCE GT 210 1GB DDR3 PCI-E VGA/DVI/HDMI SILENT
     - KINGSTON 64GB 1600MHZ DDR3 ECC REG CL11 DIMM (4X16GB) W/TS (two kits, 128GB in total, don't really need ECC but that's what I could find needing 16GB sticks)

even compared to just 10 years ago sales staff have became really dumb as there just hiring people who do not care about anything as long as they get there cut of a sale (usually all they know is basic Consumer parts they stock) and nearly non of them unless they specialize in that level of equipment will have 0 idea what they work with on a pro level part (ECC memory tends to be used on servers and Professional workstations so if they do not use that type of gear then they probably have no idea what ECC really is at all)!
also in that time some major things have happened especially with computer parts like the memory controller moved from the Chipset to the CPU same with the SATA controller , onboard GPU (thats now on the CPU and some have it some don't) and alot of other things and I guess that the people you dealed with had no idea the memory support has very little to do with the board (all the board can do is have BIOS Timing sets now and lists of parts it supports) and is now to do with the CPU alot more as it has the important stuff on it (there very close to a SOC (System On Chip) now)!
if you plan on building another computer remember to do some research yourself before you get a CPU as it is nearly the most important thing of all and they have different features tied to them and do not expect sales guys to have a idea unless there also a Technical support staff member too and work on computers that are of the same class your trying to make and have at least used the same level gear (usually if your doing something like that find a friend who is a computer nerd tell him what your trying to do and get him to help you choose all the parts)!
let me know how it goes when you get the Xeon and have it installed?

  • MSI GF615M-P33 problem with sb audigy se

    Hi everyone
First of all in case it's useful, here's my system:
    Windows xp sp2 32bit
    AMD Athlon X2 240 2.8GHz Socket AM3 2MB
    MSI GF615M-P33 GeForce 6150SE Socket AM3
Asus Radeon X1550 512mb (old card works fine)
    Sound Blaster Audigy SE
    Crucial 2GB DDR3 1333MHz/PC3-10600 Memory CL9 1.5V
    0 Maxtor 80GB  SATAII 7200rpm 8MB Cache
    1 Maxtor 250GB SATAII 7200rpm 8MB Cache
    G7 680 watt psu
So this is my third msi board and everything is fine except windows is giving me this error code: Your computer's system firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device (sound blaster audigy).  To use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or BIOS update. (Code 35).
I had a look at what I think is the bios version according to the boot screen A7597nms V2.0 123109 (does this look right?). Also, the advertised version of my board had a red pcb, mine is black and the version is 1.2, don't know if that's important, mentioning anyway.
Now I know the card works with the board because I did something slightly different, (just to see if it would work and save time). After building the computer I didn't reformat the hard drive from the previous mother board, just plugged it in and installed the new chipset drivers etc. Everything fine, soundcard working, except the cpu was only in single core and running very cool; less than 30 degrees c. So, decided to reformat properly, all good, cpu in multi and running around 40 degrees c, but just this problem with the sound card.
Another difference I notice is in windows control panel under Power Options I can't enable 'advanced power management' the option isn't there, so have to switch of the computer manually (which isn't a major problem). In the bios I always disable ACPI as I run a lot of audio processing software and according to some stuff I've read, can cause problems with irq's and all that technical stuff that I don't know much about.
Anyway, to the point. My question is: do I need to update the bios to 2.1 or would it be better to buy a new sound card. I've tried various bios settings and updating the drivers but makes no difference. I've even reinstalled windows with acpi enabled, again, the same error code.
Any help/questions much appreciated. Hope I've explained this well enough.

If the game is using a profile that uses SFR the screen is split in two horizontally ... pls see below
    Single frame rendering
Single frame rendering (SFR) mode in NVIDIA SLI works similarly to Metabyte’s PGC in the sense that the graphics card splits the workload horizontally across the screen. One card takes the upper portion while the second card takes the lower segment. The frame buffer data is then combined and sent to the monitor.
It’s important to note that SFR doesn’t necessarily split the screen directly down the middle; in some scenes the lower portion of the screen may be more complex than the upper portion, or vice versa. NVIDIA has developed custom load-balancing algorithms that are designed to take this into account, and split the screen appropriately – if one GPU takes longer to render, no problem, the driver just gives that GPU less work to do.
    Alternate frame rendering
Up to now, ATI’s Rage Fury MAXX was arguably the most well known card to take advantage of alternate frame rendering. Rather than splitting the work up every frame like in SLI, with AFR, each graphics core handled alternate frames. Graphics core one would handle everything in frame 1, while graphics core two would then handle frame number 2. Each chip renders every other frame instead of alternating lines in the same frame, as 3dfx had done with scan-line interleave. If one GPU doesn’t finish drawing its frame, the remainder is pushed to the second GPU. This is the same concept NVIDIA has employed for their SLI technology, only we’re dealing with two distinct graphics cards, rather than two graphics cards on the same core.
The most well known downside with AFR has been perceived “lag” that may be felt by some twitch players in very fast-paced first-person shooters such as Quake 1 or Quake 3. The argument is that user inputs, such as a quick flick of your wrist to nail your opponent in mid-air with your rail gun may feel lagged. In theory, this could happen when the second AFR scenario we described occurs – GPU1 doesn’t finish its frame and the remainder is passed to GPU2 – there could be a lag between the key being pressed and the output being shown on the screen. Ironically enough, NVIDIA used this same argument to tout their GeForce 256 over Rage Fury MAXX five years ago.
We played a little Half-Life 2 (which uses AFR by default) to test out this theory, but didn’t perceive any additional lag during our “testing” sessions. Buffering kicks in when data is split between GPUs, and it appears to work well. Also keep in mind that today’s shooters aren’t as fast-paced as they were a few years ago.
Currently, AFR is NVIDIA’s preferred mode for SLI. In general, AFR uses less communications overhead (as no communications overhead between GPUs is used as long as frames are contained to each GPU), allowing it to scale better than SFR. NVIDIA also says that applications with heavy vertex loads benefit less from SFR.

  • MSI 745 Ultra boot probs.

I am having problems with my new MSI 745 Ultra. It finishes post, but fails to load Win XP. It gives me 5 options: boot into safe mode, safe mode with network connections, safe mode with command prompt, last know good config, continue loading windows. Whichever option i choose, it restarts before it has finished loading windows. With the last 2options, it restarts just as it starts to display the XP scan disk screen.
I have even updated the bios, but it still has the same outcome. I am at a loss here, could somebody please help, otherwise it looks like this board is goin back and i'm guna have to look for another.

    It then said i should:
    Check for viruses
Remove any new hard-disks and hard-disk controllers
Run CHKDSK /F to check for hdisk corruption.
Under technical information, it displayed the following codes:

Does anybody have any ideas as what to do here?
